Spicy Green Chicken Enchiladas w/Beans and Rice
    John M.

Our travels take us from Manor, TX to Kyle TX and it was definitely worth the trip. Service was super friendly and fast. Older spot but the upkeep shows and its clean. Chips, Salsa and Queso are a must....Salsa had a decent kick to it, and a couple scoops in the Queso is just what it needed...Wife went with the Flautas with double rice...Hot, crisp and tasty...rice fresh and fluffy...Myself I hit the Spicy Green Enchilada Plate, Beans and Rice...not so spicy for me, but very good....Beans were solid...again rice hit the spot. More than worth the drive, but thats what we enjoy to do.

While working in Kyle, we passed by this place and noticed all of the vehicles parked in front and back. I looked on Google for the name and we immediately decided that we would return for lunch. We had a late lunch but the restaurant was still busy. It's a cute, quaint little restaurant with a lot of personality. The waitresses were very friendly and helpful. I ordered the crunchy beef tacos and my coworker ordered the fish (tilapia) tacos on flour tortillas. Before our food came out, she brought us some chips and salsa. The salsa was amazing!! It was everything salsa should be - spicy and flavorful!! Our food came out within 15 minutes of ordering. We both enjoyed our meals. My crunchy tacos were delicious. I even put the salsa on them for that added "kick". I was satisfied. Los Vaqueros is definitely a go-to for Tex Mex. Our waitress even recommended the burgers, but I wanted tacos.

The building is very old. As we walked in, we caught a hint of old home smell. Once we proceeded to our seating, we were fine. We got that scent again when we headed out. So, it's only in that small entrance room, where you get that smell... they have indoor and outdoor seating. The food was good. The Gorditas and the shredded chicken in the gorditas lacked Mexican flavor. The menudo had good flavor but lacked panistas and hominy. The place size was large enough to share food. The Mexican martini lacked flavor. They served us well considering we were a large party. I think we will come back to try the lunch menu.

De. Lic. ious. Came here with a group of 7 during lunch and we were sat immediately. Unfortunately service was a little slow but it was very kind of our server was sweet and accurate! None of our orders or drinks were wrong or forgotten. The food was delicious and the salsa here is top notch. Specifically, the tortilla soup was amazinggg. According to my coworker the BURGERS are also amazing here. Who would have thunk? If I'm ever in the area again this will be my go-to for sure!

It was our first time at Los Vaqueros. We wanted to try something local we hadn't been to in Kyle and found them on Yelp. It is a quaint location with a limited inside dining but plentiful outside seating. There was a short wait for a Saturday at 7p, only about 15 minutes. We went for our standard fare when we go to a new Mexican joint- enchiladas for the hubby and the chimichanga for me. The chips and salsa was good. Salsa had a good bite to it. Hubby got the vaquero enchilada plate with two fried eggs- his favorite. Three enchiladas- 1 beef and 2 chicken were his choice. Overall the plate was good but could have used more cheese. We both agree the beans needed a little more flavor. My beef chimichanga was good. I had it topped with queso and added some of that yummy salsa for extra flavor. Service was good and efficient.

Very good classic Tex-Mex fair can be found at this quaint little place in Kyle. The salsa was flavorful and the green was pretty spicy! I enjoyed my mix plate and my husband liked the menudo he ordered. Their margaritas are pretty good too! Our waitress was friendly and attentive.

Our second time eating here! Delicious plates at a good price! The service was great and friendly! The ambiance is cozy and very casual! Definitely a great neighborhood taco place to check out in Kyle! There's more parking at the back (so don't stress about finding a spot in the front of the restaurant). The food arrives pretty fast! My favorite so far is their lengua tacos. The flavors are amazing! The tomato and onions are the perfect combination. Their sopaipillas were delicious! Freshly made and had a crispy crunch!

I was visiting family in the Austin/Kyle area and had lunch with a good friend here. I live in Portland, where Tex Mex food is terrible for the most part, so I was quite excited. I hadn't been to Texas in a long time. This place has a very attractive, bright atmosphere with beautiful tiled tables. Service was excellent. We started with the guacamole and chips. The guac was very fresh and clean tasting, also quite delish! For lunch, my friend and I both chose the cheese enchiladas. That might not sound so exciting, but they were! The enchiladas were rich, creamy and tasty, covered in an excellent sauce. The sides of refried beans and Mexican rice were also quite flavorful. I loved Los Vaqueros and wish I could transport it to Portland. I'll just have to wait until I can visit Texas again.

First, there's more parking in back! When we arrived mid-morning for breakfast, the front parking lot was full, a good sign. We were seated in the patio area right away, and our food arrived super quick. I'm always amazed at how fast a good Mexican place can get food to the table. Despite being there for breakfast, we requested and received chips and salsa. The salsa was great but be aware: they don't skimp on the jalapeños; it's got spice. I enjoyed my Huevos Divorciados (each egg had custody of the beans in the middle) but my hubby was disappointed with the quality of the steak in his Steak Rancheros ("no buenos"). He found the refried beans to be too soupy for his taste, but I liked mine. We drank coffee (nice and hot) and soda, but I heard a guy at the table nearby order a "loaded" mimosa (it had vodka), so the full bar is operational all day.

Our favorite Tex mex place when we are in Wimberley. So far everything we have ordered has been reliably good.

After a lot of the raves, I just did not find this place very appealing. The restaurant seemed a bit dirty. Our server was nice.

The overall vibes of this establishment are off, and I do not recommend visit visiting. I just wanted to come here for some nostalgia and I did not receive that at all because the bar was full of cranky old weird dudes that were yelling and there was lots of strange fellows at the front of the area trying to greet us, but I did not want to be treated like that. I just wanna be left alone. All in all Applebee's gets a two star only because it reminds me of when I was a kid, but based on the overall experience at this specific location, I rate it one star. I forgot to mention that the pretzels were absolutely covered in salt. It was so disgusting picture attached shows just how much salt was on my pretzels, I understand now why Hayes county is in a water drought it's because Applebee's is adding salt to everything. As always, thank you for taking the time to read my review. I hope you have a wonderful Saturday afternoon.

Lupe Tortilla is one of those restaurants. I'm not saying it's a bad thing as one of my personal favorites (Pappacito's) holds this same designation. Over the years I been to Lupe but haven't been overly impressed. A few happy hours; some lunches. It's pricey Tex-Mex. Lupe opened a new outlet recently in Kyle and instead of waiting for tires in a lobby we ride shared just down the road for lunch. New digs are nice; competition in this area will be stiff. It already killed off Austin fave Z' Tejas. I've never gotten the complimentary beans served with the chips and salsa. I personally don't need any more beans than what's served with my entree. Wife liked it though; she's a bean whore. Bloody Mary ordered; it's like an appetizer! Her taco salad was artfully presented. I'd still want the traditional fried tortilla bowl. I opted for the beef fajita and shrimp fajitas. This is where my favorite mentioned about easily stands above Lupe Tortilla. Well done meat versus beautiful medium rare goodness. Beef fajita meat doesn't have to be well done y'all. I literally could tag nearly every Tex-Mex restaurant in Texas at this point. Back to the dish this time concentrating on the seafood aspect. The shrimp were nicely cooked but red pepper butter? Fave copycat restaurant serves their shrimp with the most amazing frothy garlic butter. Diablo and the bacon wrapped version. Lupe isn't bad but there are better options. For this visit, including my dessert of a tequila shot. May not be my favorite but it was upscale fare.
