I just moved to Kyle in 2026 and came to Casa Maria Mexican Restaurant. I'm big on Margaritas and steak fajitas...first time I sat at the bar and ordered the house frozen margarita. Marcelo is the manager and bar server most evenings...he is a super nice guy and great to talk to...he is the guy this place wants and needs as the face and front man of this place! Frozen margaritas large are on happy hour everyday from 3-6pm at half price at $4.50 and are absolutely the best testing and strongest in town and maybe in all of Austin! A must have! Also, Wednesday 11-2pm is the mixed fajita special for $9.99 with rice beans side lettuce cheese tortillas chips and salsa...absolutely amazing meal! Steak is made with the best ribeye steak...so good! I've also had the 3 enchiladas plate with half green and half red sauce...love this dish as well! This is my 3rd time here in 3 weeks and I will be coming back to try more dishes! This place also has a Mexican Bakery "Panaderia" up front of house and bring in fresh baked delicious deserts from their main location on South First. I bought a few different pastries for me and my 5year old son Luciano and we both loved them...def adds a really great Mexican vibe and completed the mexican restaurant experience. Overall I have been very pleased on all fronts with both the service and food here being top of mind and so wonderful. This place has a current 2.7 star rating on Yelp but this rating does not at all represent this place's current state quality of both food and service. Come check this place out in Kyle off Main St and I-35 Southbound. Ask for manager Marcelo and tell him David Wesch sent you! You will be pleasantly surprised by how delicious the food is and welcoming and enjoyable this place is. Came here for the first time during the midst of COVID, and was disappointed by the service and food. Figured I'd give them another try, post-pandemic... and I had an even worst experience this go around. First off, there was visible BLACK MOLD all around the AC vent, which you could tell they tried to paint over some of it but it's clearly there. As well in various other locations in the front eating section. They've clearly had water damaged which they've not taken care of safely. The unfriendly waitress was no where to be found for the first 20min that we sat down, and then when she did come, she didn't bring or offer chips and salsa, we had to ask. Then our drinks were forgotten after the chips came 30min in to us sitting down. We were about to leave at this point but I was so hungry that I didn't want to waste anymore time... Ordered a $14 quesadilla that looked like a child's plate. Incredibly overpriced for that little amount of food, and the service or food quality definitely doesn't compensate for these high prices. Do not eat here. I will never spend money at this business again. If you're nearby, you're better off visiting Los Vaqueros or Pisces. read more

I loved the breakfast tacos! I rolled up to the drive thru and was ready to eat and excited that a local spot even had a drive thru. I don't have a lot of breakfast taco experience but I thought mine were delicious. All the ingredients were obviously hand made and quality. I wish I would have known that they weren't premade tacos to order, but you make them yourself out of a list of Ingredients. I held up the line a bit not knowing what to choose. Waitress didn't even seem like she cared to be there, when I told her I wanted just 2 crispy beef tacos she said they can't and can only do a plate with the rice and beans, I did let her know I have been through their drive thru and they were able to do the tacos only and everything was fine last week, she explained it's different in drive thru. I got 3 ground beef tacos by themself, 1 chili Relleno plate and 1 sweet tea. Total came out to 35$ ! Definitely does NOT add up right, I should have got the receipt but didn't think to. Quiet place right off 35. Easy to get to. Small menu. I had guacamole appetizer. $8 So, it's quite a bit of guacamole but it does have a lot of filler. My guacamole had small amounts of lettuce and it was very light in color. It was not very tasty either. More bland. Corn chips are out of a bag and taste like what you would get in a convenience store. This would be a hard no for Mexican food, come on make your own chips. Ordered the enchiladas as my entree. Chicken with green sauce, it came with rice and beans. The rice and beans were tasty and the enchiladas were filled with shredded chicken. They were good not great but at $13 for two enchiladas and rice and beans you are getting up there in price for a plate. So there you go. An average Mexican restaurant in a world of several competitors. If in a pinch and couldn't find an open spot I'd come back. We found this place a few months ago while visiting friends. Nice people, somewhat good food. Today, after flying into the greater Austin area. We decided to go for a bite. I am sharing with the public the ridiculous overcharging for 4 eggs to be put on enchiladas. As you can see, for two eggs, we were charged $4.00 for putting on Chilaquilas. The RIDICULOUS reasoning given by the female manager was because on the Enchiladas Mexicans, there is NOT AN OPTION, for eggs. Therefore, it is considered an a la carte. WHAT? An egg is an egg. This goes to show how ridiculous owners are overcharging the consumers and giving hideous excuses for the overcharging. For $12.96, we could have bought 2 dozen eggs. Overall experience at Casa Maria's was INCREDIBLE! 10/10. The food, the portions, the service, the atmosphere were all great. Probably one of the best meals I've had in months. Our side of the table ordered the lengua plate, enchiladas plate, quesadillas & I believe the al pastor tacos? Everything was so juicy, flavorful, and greatly priced!! (A rare find these days!) Chips and salsa are good bites. Migas are good but a bit steep at $9 even with the crappy overcooked bacon. Rooster did like his American breakfast with eggs, two pancakes, and sausage. CM's shrimp cocktail was a nice dish. Ample shrimp, avocado, and spicy broth served in a large margarita glass. I've also found the mole sauce used in various dishes a nice version. Downsides...I've been to the bar...where there was no bartender...and sat there till we left 10 minutes later. Prices are steep, would rather drive into Austin for better food. Must start off saying the margarita flight would have been great if we could have understood what flavors were which and the sopes were excellent that is the only reason for the 2 stars. We were a group of 7 white women who clearly did not speak spanish and had a very hard time communicating with Maty C after ordering she disappeared, another waiter brought our food. I've been here a handful of times and have always had a great experience and have really enjoyed their food. I've been here for date nights with my husband and for family gatherings. I've also gone through the drive-thru and still experienced good service and fast and hot food. I love the look of the inside of the restaurant and really enjoy the bakery items. For food, I usually go for the pastor plate or cheese enchiladas. My husband really enjoys their food too. As far as the wait staff, I've never had any complaints and I've never encountered eating here during "rush-hour". I would recommend you give them a try! read more

Casa Maria passed the Favor delivery test. Every Mexican food place I've had Favor deliver has been horrific. But Casa Maria held up rather nicely and was good enough to make the trip. Though it was a little soggy from deliver, the Gordita was really really good and their other offerings were also good. I liked their salsa too and that's always a big deal. The service was decent...until the server failed to mention if I didn't purchase a kids plate with beans and rice they were going to charge me $8 per BEAN & CHEESE taco. I've never paid $16 for TWO bean & cheese tacos. When i went back inside to ask I was told yes the charge for $16 is correct because they don't sell tacos and the waiter was suppose to tell me since I didn't order a kids plate they were going to charge so much.
