Made New Year Eve reservations 5 days ahead of time, for a party of two; lots of times available. Arrived for our reservation on time, and we were seated in the bar area by a less than friendly host. Server was a bar person, not a regular server and wasn't knowledgeable or attentive to our dinner questions and needs. I choose the king salmon, which came out over done. My wife choose the filet mignon, asked for medium and it came out more rare than medium. Server was no where in sight to get either corrected. Food and presentation poor and boring. At one point we heard the head chef arguing with the host. All in all a disappointing experience to celebrate New Year's Eve. We will never visit the Chart House again. read more

OMG. This place is incredibly expensive with mediocre EVERYTHING. You can get the same thing for a qtr of the price and most any steak houses were better than my filet. On top of it, each drink was $11 and so you'd think...hmmm...maybe it s the ambience. THis place for what they charge, should do some MAJOR updating. Old bathrooms, old everything. On top of it, the more intimate booths, aren't at all, you eat where you can hear the conversations when the couple next to me was three feet away! The Chart House has been a mainstay restaurant in Genesee for several decades. It is a nice setting for an evening getaway outside of Denver. Unfortunately, this is a corporate restaurant chain where staff turn over frequently and the general managers are non-accountable. The waiters are not trained appropriately and don't listen when taking an order. Mistakes are made on charges and food quality is marginal. The health department ought to inspect this restaurant more frequently. Think twice before having dinner at this place. read more

We hadn't been to the Chart House for awhile because it's quite expensive for what you get, but we decided to give it another try. Our server, Jake, called us by name throughout the evening, was very attentive, and made good recommendations. He recommended the daily appetizer special which sounded wonderful but we opted to go for the salad bar which was fabulous, as usual. My standard order is usually the macadamia crusted mahi mahi but I wanted to venture away from the usual so he recommended the crab stuffed shrimp which I chose and it was rich but delicious! My husband opted to stay safe and had the prime rib with a baked potato. (He's a baked potato connoisseur and he declared the baked potato to be in the top 2 he'd had at a restaurant.) The prime rib was cooked just the way he'd ordered it so he was happy with that decision as well. Incidentally, the German-style Riesling was so good that my husband got the name of it so that he can buy a bottle of it at his favorite liquor store in the future. We tried this location based on a recommendation. SO worth it. Yes, it is higher prices, but you get what you pay for. The atmosphere was stunning - beautiful city light views, the service was IMPECCABLE - we were 30 minutes late (totally my fault since I thought our reservation was for 730, but it was really 7) and the host and hostess were 100% understanding. The hostess did a round to see if she could get us seated ASAP while the host went and got us water. The hostess had us seated 5 minutes after we arrived. Jake, our waiter, was a GEM! He treated us like we were the only and most important people in the restaurant that night. He made sure our food was timed perfectly which gave us time to sit, digest and enjoy ourselves. The food, from appetizer all the way through dessert, was OUTSTANDING. It was an beautiful and enjoyable 5 year wedding anniversary dinner. The only reason I gave two stars was because of our great Server. The Hostess was unfriendly and indifferent, however. Now for the food....It was on the same level as Outback Steakhouse...fine for the price of Outback but not for the highly inflated prices of the Chart House. The evening started out well. The waiter seemed very attentive, but after he asked us three times if we wanted the "kitchen to start preparing an appetizer" I felt it was a bit too much. We settled for Lobster bisque which was excellent. The clam chowder was good too, but was served lukewarm. When we ordered our meals, we were told that even though the mahi wasn't checked on the menu, they had it and it came with a crab/avocado on top accompanied by asparagus. I ordered it. Then the waiter came back and said the mahi wasn't available and it was actually another fish that was prepared the same way. Since it was only $2 more, I ordered it. Overall, it was very good although they use a bit too much salt for me. My beau's meal was good...he had ordered the short ribs. We ordered the chocolate molten lava cake for dessert. I had this 20 years ago and still remembered it. Well, I should have left it as a memory. It came out cold and the molten was more like rock. I mentioned it to the waiter, and he brushed over it saying that sometimes they leave it to cool too long. Big disappointment...it needs to be served warm. Then the bill came. The fish I ordered had a base price, then an upcharge for asparagus and another upcharge for the crab topping. My $36 fish dinner was now over $50. I asked the waiter about it, and he said "gee, didn't I mention that?" He offered to talk with his manager, which I agreed he should do. The manager took off the cost of the crab topping but not the asparagus. We paid the bill and left. On the way out the manager thanked us for coming. I mentioned the incident to him and he said he would make sure the waiter was better educated in the future. He said that there was no way to remove the cost for the asparagus (yeah, right). I told him that educating the waiter was one thing, but that our anniversary dinner was very disappointing. He didn't offer to make it right. They lost a repeat customer because of a $5 upcharge on asparagus (which we didn't eat because it was way too salty.). All in all, it was an okay place. Be very careful of the up-sale and up-charges. It was very crowded and not what I would consider a romantic restaurant at all. There are many better, less expensive restaurants out there. We won't be back. read more

So disappointed. We went for a birthday dinner and the food was a total bummer. My $40 strip steak was ordered medium rare came out over cooked so I returned it, then it came out too rare and very chewy. My wife got the $40 halibut which was dry and had zero flavor. We used to go to this location many years ago and thought we would try it again. It was my husband and my anniversary, when making the reservation they asked if we were celebrating anything. I told her it was our 20 year anniversary. But throughout the night it was never acknowledged. For the price the experience could of been a little better. It seemed our waitress forgot about us throughout the night. We asked for a steak knife and it took 10 minutes to get. It just seemed like the servers were all stressed out and not a professional wait staff. It seemed to lack management. The people at table next to us were getting upset with the service and kind of yelled and made a scene when talking to their server. We had steak fillet and the scallops, it was a little too salty but it was fairly good. Atmosphere was ok, needs some updating though. Enjoyed the dark and coziness of it. Went here for an office dinner recently with approximately 20 in our party. The service was fair. However the food was very disappointing. One person in our party ordered and then found out they were out of that fish this was at 7 PM on a weekday). Two others ordered salmon and it was extremely over cooked. My significant other and I have a tradition of going out every Christmas. We just moved to Genesee, so we were thrilled to find out that The Chart House was open. Our experience was less than sub par. I would say that we are positive, "cup half full" kind of people, and I've never left a bad review before, but we were so disappointed in our experience. We arrived around 7:15 and were not greeted by out waiter, not brought water, until 7:30. It was Christmas and we were enjoying conversation, so it wasn't a big deal. It took another 15 mins to deliver a bottle of wine; again, not a huge deal. We ordered an appetizer and soup. It took a while to deliver, but they were both delicious! I'd say around 8pm we finally ordered our entree. We had checked out the menu online and were craving prime rib. At this point we were not starving, so we opted to split the 18 ounce cut ($40). We ordered medium rare and mentioned to go more rare than medium. The wait was a bit longer than expected, but we didn't complain. The cut was delivered pretty much well done. I waited in college and law school, so I rarely complain, but for $40, I wanted to at least enjoy my Christmas dinner. The waiter was understanding and came back to explain that the prime rib was announced no longer medium rare around 6ish (not sure why he didn't mention it earlier). We then settled on the NY strip. The inside was definitely red, but the outside was charred. It wasn't horrible, but not good-definitely cooked quickly. Honestly, we could have cooked one better ourselves. The manager never came to apologize or speak with us. We expected our steak to be comped, and all the waiter could offer was a free appetizer or dessert. When we expressed our disappointed and desire to speak with the manager, the waiter said, "Well it's Christmas, I think my manager just wants to get out of here." It left us all feeling uncomfortable and the waiter in an awkward position. Very disappointed and will not be back. When your meal doesn't turn out the way you expect it, you'd hope management would at least apologize and address it. If we could do it over, we would have driven to Denver or just stayed home. read more

Terrible Food and grossly overpriced for what you get! Arrived there at 8 30 on a weeknight to see a total on 2 other tables taken in this large restaurant. Thought Hmmm? but kept an open mind. Exterior it is a gem set aside a hilltop overlooking /denver. Inside it is best described as a dated dining room in a dated B Motel. Food was gross. Salad bar was mundane and appeared identical at what you used to see at Wendys or a 10 dollar Country Buffet. Beets, frozen peas, chopped eggs etc,. The Tuna at $36.99 was the worst I have ever had. Server saw that it was poor equality and couldn't cut with a knife and took it back. It was fibrous poor quality and inedible. No way that was A grade ahi sushi quality , it should have never been served. Replacement tuna arrived, Half was not good but edible as it was late and I was hungry (otherwise it would have been sent back), other half I covered with the cold mashed potatoes and left it on the plate. I have used better quality fish than this for bait in the Gulf Of Mexico. Warning , They have a 29.99 3 couse dinner (short rib, Tillapia , etc) that sounds good but server advised it is petite, very petite, so I guess we figured out why the place was empty. If you want a boring so so sale bar and a piece of poor quality fish you could probably do better at the Country Buffet in Arvada. Same salad Bar, Better fish, plentiful food, same dated decorations, and about 80 % less cost. PS: only savings grace was that staff comped my wife's chocolate lava cake desert because of the tuna . The chocolate lava desert was probably the best she has had and she is an aficionado on this particular desert. We had a very disappointing experience at the Chart house on December 2, 2012. We had a table of four. They gave us bread with only three pieces in it. The resaurant was relatively empty and put another table of four right next to us instead of spacing. For the expense of 14 to 15 dollar appetizers. The stuffed mushrooms and the crabcakes with mango was bland and did pop of great taste when you partook of it. the Mahi (36.99) was way overcooked and had no dazzling taste. For this restaurant to have upscale prices I would rather go to McGraths or Bone Fish Grill. I would not return to this restaurant again. read more

We experienced terrible quality of food in almost every aspect. The bread was not fresh nor was the salad. The appetizer was not served hot. The prime rib was the worst I've ever had as it was very tough and difficult to cut. I would never have served that piece of meat to a guest since it would have been an insult. The margarita was so weak it was basically a glass of lemonade. The check for the dinner was over $150 before tip so we expected a much better meal. The Chart House is way overpriced and poorly managed. When we arrived, we ordered drinks and then were told that they were out of all fish because their truck had not arrived. A seafood restaurant that's out of fish?? When we left, we heard our server tell another couple that they were out of beef, but that their truck had arrived and now they had fish. Our table was a tiny two top with a great view to the east. While the view was great, the whistling of the air vent by our table was extremely distracting. It sounded like morse code was playing in our heads throughout dinner. I even checked my phone to see if it was inadvertently playing some irritating video. When I went to the salad bar, the plate on top of the stack had dried greens on it. The server had shown me where the plates were. She should have removed the dirty plate. The building is old and dated. The experience is not in line with the price. The gin and tonic was great. It's hard to mess those up! read more

Reservations at 7:30 for party of 5 on New Year's eve. Slight wait for table. Upon entering the restaurant, the restaurant was filled with a smokey haze but then later realized it was because there was no heat. The exhaust fan was turned on every 15 minutes or so, which sucked out the measly heat from the space heaters from the rest of the restaurant. It was 13 degrees outside! The restrooms were frigid! I read this on a previous review on Yelp but surely it should have been fixed 2 weeks later. No such luck! Service was great. Jake was attentive and made this part pleasant. Food is mediocre, not what we expected for the supposed reputation of Chart House. All in all, not a great experience. Red irritated eyes and the smell of charred meat should not accompany our $50.00 a plate meals, suits, dresses and coats home with us. Not sure about the serving size, we split the $5 chopped salad, was delicious but definitely not needed as our serving portions were more than we could eat. Extremely disappointed. Have always loved the Chart House restaurants but not tonight. 730 reservation, table at 8. Couldn't get to the bar--understaffed and too crowded. Was happy to see that the salad bar had returned--always loved that part of the restaurant--but dirty, picked over and in need of some refills. Continually the whole night. My meal was very nice. My partner was not happy. $30 bucks for four small shrimp and three slices of beef. Not impressed. My crab stuffed shrimp was very nice. Overcharged on the bill or the waiter would have gotten 20%. Seems like this is now part of a big company and the food, service, etc. show it. Disappointing as remember wonderful meals in Maui, Palm Springs, and Saucelido. We have been chart house patrons, in many locations, for many years, since the very olden days. We were stunned, twice, by our experiences over the recent holidays with our local one in genesee. We live in Evergreen. This genesee location has always been a lovely meeting place for locals from genesee, mt. Vernon, and Evergreen. It was never exceptional food, but was always reliable. Chart House franchises have always been most noted for views and reliable food and this place is no exception. Until recently. Twice- three weeks apart over Christmas and New Years - we met friends. The hvac system was not working. At all. In the mountains in Colorado. For a month over Christmas. Heating at 10 degrees outside, and ventilation of fish cooking. And they knew it. And yet they directed staff to continue to welcome guests with no warning. As staff explained, the ventilation for the heat was inextricably tied to the ventilation to the grill. Their unfortunate choices were between freezing out patrons and venting the grill. What they did was alternate between freezing patrons and blasting them with fish grease. We all bundled up in our coats and wraps, blasted by Arctic wind from the unheated hvac, and ate frantically as our meals froze. Importantly, no recognition of the circumstances hit our bill, despite repeated apologies. We withstood this on the first occasion at a large gathering for just before Christmas. All of our clothing - lovely cashmeres, etc - required dry cleaning after the experience. Don't ask me why but we went back three weeks later based on staff assurances and the problem was unresolved! Crazy! It seems new corporate - they were just bought out - can't seem to empower the local manager to secure the right part. To fix the entire heating and ventilation system in high performing location in 10 degree weather. Again we froze (the place is poorly insulated) and then were blasted with the grill grease as they alternated. It was all diplomatically explained to us by the loyal but unfortunate staff. We will not be returning. We will henceforth go to our local restaurants in Bergen park and evergreen like Colorado Bistro, Willow Creek, A Tavola, and Saigon Landing - read more

POOR. Arrived 6:40ish. Seated right away. Now the problems. Ordered 2 prime rib medium rare, stuffed mushrooms, chowder with crackers and salmon crab topping. Plus 1 wine and 2 soda's. Chowder arrived luke-warm no crackers. Had to ask for the soda & crackers 3 times. By the time finally got the crackers the chowder that was now cool was pretty much gone. 50 minutes later waiter comes to say they're out of Prime. Opens at 5pm and they didn't know they were out until 50 minutes after we ordered. Asks us to re-order so they order Filet - which is then served 25 later Medium Well. That was the breaking point so complained to waiter who got manager. 2.25 hrs left at 9 pm totally disappointed in service and food quality. read more

If I could rate this place 0 stars I would. We ordered 6 meals 2 steaks came out super rare TWICE! Even after the first time we sent them back. My mother didn't even get her meal. The manager had the audacity to say he comped us two meals when WE NEVER GOT THEM!!! He stormed off with an attitude and came back and comped us a few more. The waitress completely abandoned us and gave us an attitude when we asked if he was going to comp more. He then proceeded to roll his eyes to the couple next to us when he left the table. We came for our birthdays (2 of ours) so we were extremely disappointed, for the price and atmosphere you expect greatness. We were seeking a nice restaurant with a view and great cuisine so the Chart House came to mind. We arrived and were seated in Curtis' section. He took our drink orders and poured our water right away. We started our meal with a dozen oysters on the half shell which were flavorful and succulent. Next came great clam chowder as well a couple of us ordered lobster bisque. Both came perfectly seasoned and at a perfect temperature. I ordered prime rib which was paired with very nice whipped potatoes. One in our party ordered short ribs. They were fork tender with a very nice reduction sauce. A third entree was seared scallops. They were rich and nicely seasoned. He evening ended with a great key lime pie and chocolate ice cream pie. The only shortcoming to the meal was that our sever was not very attentive. We had to signal him for refills on water, tea, bread and needed condiments. But otherwise a good evening. read more

Beautiful spot to have a restaurant. Arrived a bit early and sat at the bar and was impressed by Travis the bartender. He served a most delicious dirty martini with gray goose. We got seated in a beautiful corner and Meg our waitress was professional and spot on. Our crab stuffed mushrooms were delicious and tasted quite nice. The Caesar salad was the best I've had. It was toss lightly and had the perfect amount of dressing. The shaved Parmesan cheese was out of this world. The bowl of clam chowder was hot perfectly seasoned and had the right amount of clams, potatoes and all of the ingredients to make it a perfect soup. Jeni's crab cake entrée was delicious and tasty. Unfortunately my fillet was over cooked. I ate the scallops with the ratatouille but having an over cook fillet just wasn't right. Our server Meg quickly brought me a new fillet cooked the way I enjoy but it through the timing of the entire meal off. My meal was taken off the bill, a nice touch. Our server Meg was fantastic. Wow, We have been going to Chart House for many of our Anniversaries and birthdays. This past Sat Oct 20 we made reservations, asked for a special table with window view if possible, we ended up on the end table next to the salad bar and traffic. Wait staff slamming down trays on ledge behind me, no consideration. The worst part is we spent $300 on a meal that wasn't edible. We had King Salmon, it had so many bones in it, we couldn't eat it. My special of the night Baja Mahi Mahi was so over cooked and dry, we couldn't eat it. Both of our upcharged" baked potatoes were under cooked and luke warm at best, we couldn't eat it. They even made my cosmo wrong! The waitress said, well in Alaska, we use pliers to pull out the bones of the king salmon, no apologies, no can I remake something- VERY disappointed. We still paid the bill, left a good tip and then spoke to GM and advised of the situation he said he would take good care of us next time. read more

We had reservations and as we sat waiting, we watched couple after couple complaining about waiting. Their front desk was a mess, some people walked out, and the manager was an idiot. Sorry to say that. They had over a dozen empty tables. We weren't in any hurry so we watched the bubbling manager try to fix his mess. We were there specifically for the salad bar as our entree and the waiter made feel shamed that's all we wanted. Four of us ate here on a Saturday night and had a very nice evening The restaurant was full but not every seat was taken. We had reservations and were seated immediately. Our server came to the table right away and was very attentive throughout the meal. She was knowledgeable about the menu and gave some good advice when ordering. We found the salad bar well stocked with a very good variety, all fresh. The food came out of the kitchen in a timely manner. The oysters, blackened Salmon, beef ribs and Caesar salad were all very good. The Lobster bisque was only lukewarm and the Charcuterie had apparently been sitting out a while as the cheese was getting hard and the toast stone cold. Our server, Meg, who was great, offered to replace the cheese herself but my wife was already full from the oysters and salad decided just to take the remaining cheeses and meats home. Finally, although expected, everything was a bit pricey. By the way, our server explained that the building boiler had broken down several months ago and took some time to fix. We had been there years ago and it was great. I'm not sure what has happened there since but it's gone down hill (excuse the pun). Service was ok, food was not good. Trout was dry, over cooked and bland. The prime rib was ok, but not up to par. Doubt I will go there again any time in the near future unless things change. Normally our group can count on good customer service at the Chart House, but tonight was such an epic fail, we walked out & went to Tuscany Tavern instead. First Chart House lost my reservation (which I made a week ago) and even though we got it "straightened out" this afternoon, still had no table for us when we arrived--made us wait around for 20 minutes, only to put us in a room where the heater was broken and they knew was too cold to endure. Had a more than excellent time enjoying Chart House the food was very fresh and tasty. The Seared Ahi is as good and fresh as any out there. Also, after enjoying a crab avocado mango stack that was very decadently prepared I was in heaven!!! Not to mention the delicious lava cake for desert. First time there. Had a small filet, which I requested to be rare with a charred crust - assuming a flash high heat grill. What I received was a perfectly rare filet but the crust was finished with a butane torch. The steak tasted like it had a petroleum coat. I can't imagine a chef who would serve such uneatable food.
