We held a surprise birthday celebration in the stadium area at Simms Steakhouse today. Everything went perfectly. I could not be more pleased by all the advance attention to detail that we received from the events manager, Mark, to make it great. And our waiter, Colin, did an excellent job. We upped the standard tip in appreciation of his good service. I think you'll be getting more business after this because everyone there, except for my wife and I, experienced your place/food/service for the first time - and all were very impressed. Visited Simms for Valentine's Day with our family - two kids, 14 and 12. We had a nice evening but I'd say it probably skews closer to 3 stars vs 4. We made our reservation over a month prior - our table was set back from the windows even when several tables were available with views (which they quickly filled with other parties seated almost simultaneously). Not that big of a deal really - we didn't request a specific table, but feel like they should seat parties first come/first serve according to reservation time and best table availability. It took some time for our server to get to us - it was pretty clear they had been run pretty ragged through the evening. They really did nothing to help the evening feel special - mentioned the prix fixe menu but spent no time walking through the à la carte menu, didn't offer suggestions on the food or wine list (a sommelier no less). They were clearly over it - we could read, so went through the options on our own. Took some time but they finally got back to us with our kids' drinks, to take our wine order and we were ready to order our food. Well - go figure- the prix fixe menu option we were all going to order was now sold out (surf and turf - a Valentine's Day must!). Super disappointed. We had to pivot to other items. My wife and son ordered à la carte (which of course was meaningfully more expensive). And my daughter and I split the Chateaubriand. Why they couldn't replace the prix fixe option that was sold out with another similar option is beyond me. Our appetizer salads (Caesar) were good but obnoxiously large (annoying when you have kids). The lobster bisque was good, average. Unfortunately an inordinate amount of time passed between appetizers and entrees - so, appetites weren't what they could be. That said, entrees and sides were delightful - steaks (Filet, NY Strip) were cooked perfectly and the sides (Brussels Sprouts and Mac and cheese) were great. Overall the food was good, execution is summarized by a restaurant just overwhelmed. We probably won't be back anytime soon - there are so many steakhouses in town. Valentine's Day is an opportunity to reinforce a special night out and this just felt average even though the price tag was not. read more

The overall vibe and atmosphere is wonderful. Such a beautiful view of the city lights and very romantic. Over waiter, Lars, was exceptional and provided a great experience. The drinks were also good. I had a whiskey sour that was not on the menu but it was still great. We traveled from California and had a reservation for 2045 through open table. We got there at 2036 and they told us the kitchen was closed for the day. As we arrived the Valet guy without saying hi he instantly said "our kitchen is closed". That gave us bad vibes to begin with. We used to love coming here for brunch, for special occasions or just for a sunday get together. After today, I don't know if we'll be back. Service for brunch was nowhere near what it should have been. Especially for $45 a person and an included 18% gratuity. I ordered bottomless mimosas, and they were $18 per person (no longer included?). The refills were slow, stingy, and I had to hunt down our server every time my glass was empty. There was little to no acknowledgment to the other half of our table, she never offered refills on the "bottomless" mimosas, nor water. The service was just not good for "fine" dining. I get it was a buffet, but it's advertised as high end brunch and it was not giving that at all. Christen, our server, wasn't attentive to us, which was not only disappointing, but we felt like we got swindled at the end of it all. Christen made $23 off of us alone (myself and one other person) out of a party of 9 without providing service worth an 18% tip. She didn't tell us it was on there, I had to ask about it, and we had no say on how much she was tipped (understandable for a party over 6 people, but seriously?). I don't mind paying 20% or more for that level of service. However, the busser refilled our water and took plates away, so I have a hard time believing that she was too busy to come check on us and offer the basics (which we paid for). Food was mediocre as well. Crab legs were watery, and their options have become more and more limited over the years. It seems to be migrating towards a continental style breakfast, where there are more pastries and cold dishes and less gourmet hot dishes. The only appealing thing now is the crab legs and prime rib- which like I said, they were mid. Bottomless mimosas were served in tiny glasses, and were alright. No alternative juices were offered- just OJ. Save your money and go somewhere else. read more

First timer at Simms. My husband and I had dinner outside on the patio (per our request- I wanted to see the view). Patio was nice, fresh air felt good, our view was pretty clouded due to the weather - no fault of the restaurant obviously. We started w cocktails and calamari, I had the gin and tonic which was so refreshing w the raspberry and lime, very good light drink. My husband ordered the old fashioned which he enjoyed very much. Calamari was crispy enough without being too fried. Entrees were awesome! I loved the sea bass and didn't even finish all of it. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the rib eye steak, cooked perfect. Went to Simms Steakhouse for dinner on a Monday. It wasn't too busy and we got good seating for a small group of folks with a good view. With our group, plenty of appetizers and sides were ordered. I stuck with the bacon, but heard from the group that all of the other appetizers were delicious. For the main course, I went with the NY strip with a side of bearnaise sauce. Steak was cooked per requested, but the cut didn't taste as the price would suggest including a bit too fatty. For sides (no photos), we ordered the mac n cheese, broccolini, asparagus, scallop potatoes, and fries. I would say to skip them all except for the scallop potatoes and fries. The mac n cheese was not cheesy at all. Broccolini and asparagus were still a bit hard and didn't have any flavor as it seemed just steamed. The sad part was the sides came out super late after all the entrees came out so didn't really had sides to go with our meal. Overall, it was a good experience. We were there last Thursday night - the evening was rather underwhelming. The server seemed distracted and rushed to the point all four of us were perplexed with his approach - he did not add to the evening. The food was disappointing. The piece of salmon was so small and the price was shocking! The two chopped salads came out without salad dressing (or very little dressing) and then it took forever for the waiter to check back - by then we just asked for a side of the dressing and had them box it up to take it home. The most shocking part of the night was - close to the entrance they have an open /unprotected fire pit. A small child was walking over towards the fire pit - almost reaching the extremely hot coals - a waiter with a drink in his hand reached down and stopped the child from touching the unprotected coals!!! Such an unnecessary and extremely dangerous risk! Overall disappointing night - we won't be going back. Hoping the management team recognizes the extreme risk of the fire pit, encourages their staff to be a bit more positive and they reevaluate their portions in relation to their pricing... read more

Came for a celebration during their Sunday Brunch. I like a good buffet and this is one. Fresh cut fruit, a variety of eggs: mushroom frittata, deviled, Benedict, and scrambled; crispy bacon, sausage, prime rib and crab legs, fried potatoes also. A large chafing dish isn't designed to keep a muffin crisp when it's under an egg and hollandaise, but it was tasty. Mushrooms in the frittata were large sliced which allows their earthy taste to shine. I like bfast sausage anyway and love it more now after tasting their plump piggies. I followed this plentiful feast w coffee. Don't expect diner Joe here; it's an excellent brew that begged for a trip to the huge pastry table for an apple strudel and a baklava that transported me to a rooftop on Santorini. Ok, a little too poetic, but seriously someone in the kitchen cares about presenting food properly prepared and delicious. $45/adults $19/children $37/seniors. Service - The gal who served us was really nice and timely but she continued to mention how she had come from somewhere like Gunther Toodys (I dont actually remember where) and wasnt allowed to sing birthday songs, etc.. She also didnt know how to do table bottle service and was opening the bottle against her body. If this werent a steakhouse, I wouldnt have minded but at a steakhouse, you hope to see good bottle service at the table. Food - YIKES. I ordered salmon which was actually very tasty and quite the surprise since they're a steak house, supposedly known for that. However, the two folks with me ordered steaks blue and rare that were both over cooked. We also ordered calamari that came on a wet bed of green beans (they were fine but a weird pairing with fried calamari) with a sweet and sour sauce that didnt compliment the calamari flavors in any way. I also ordered an Old Fashioned that literally had two entire peeled orange wedges in it with straight bourbon. As in, there was no bitters, no simple, no garnish -- literally the only things needed for an old fashioned. Came here for Father's Day. This restaurant is on a side of a hill with a spectacular view. How am I going to maneuver a wheelchair up this hill? No worries, they provide complementary parking which makes it an extra special event. Entering the restaurant provides a spectular view. We ordered a delicious Simms salad. The fried calamiri came with a surprise bed of healthy beans! Less guilt for eating this appetizer. We were then treated to complimentary homemade fresh hot bread! We ordered the most delicious fish dish I have ever had. The roasted miso sea bass was tender, flaky and not over cooked. This was accompanied by sticky rice and baby bok chiy. The atmosphere/ambiance is updated and has beautiful views. Id like to return in the summer as im sure the patio is nice for drinks possibly. We started with bone marrow which my husband stated was very bland (3), and also the Roasted Bacon which was a 4 (best item). Our steaks were not cooked to our liking with a nice crust, some salt, garlic flavor. We luckily bought the salt pact so we had some flavor. Seemed to be oven cooked or broiled and sadly that does not make for a 5 star ribeye so would give them a 3 for appearance, flavor, enjoyment . Our sides were Brussel sprouts, and green beans - which were a 2.5. Just had no flavor at all. I ordered seared scallops with my bone in ribeye which were great - because they had some seasonings/seared. Since it was our anniversary we ordered cappuccinos and dessert which our waitress forgot about but we asked for them which were good not great. Sadly I really hate to sound like I did not enjoy my night , I did but besides the view I could not say I would recommend this steakhouse to others. We enjoy our steaks - even dry age our own so know a bit of farm fresh dry aged prime and this felt like a choice broiled kind of night. As Landry members even we didn't even get our nights tab added to our points because our waitress was just super busy and did not come back around. I also thought she was a bit snarky when I asked about a few things since I am Gluten free - not by choice (Celiac) and they do not really accommodate with GF options at all. Reminded me of our first time out when I was diagnosed 5 years ago at Roadhouse and they offered no sauces, not even butter, garlic or salt & pepper. Wish restaurants would learn how to accommodate to your GF clientele a bit more as we LOVE the smell of your oven bread and makes us wish we could. I have eaten here twice and I will NEVER eat here again. (1) Last night my friends hosted myself and my daughter. I ordered prime rib, rather than my usual NY strip. When the meals were delivered, I realized they hadn't provided a knife. Easily corrected - except it took at least 4 minutes to find someone to get me one. What they provided more resembled a very dull hacksaw blade with a handle. Everybody watched in horror as I literally SHREDDED my way through a rare piece of meat. If we could have found a waiter, I would have had them take the plate back and get me a different entrée! I sawed and sawed and tore off piece after piece! It was ABSOLUTELY EMBARRASSING to treat a piece of meat that way. WTF? What made it worse was that the prime rib was very dry, not juicy. (2) Two years ago, I took my daughter there for her birthday. When I made the reservation, I ordered a birthday cake and EXPLICITLY confirmed the request. After our meal they were quick to ask if we wanted dessert. I explained that I had ordered a birthday cake. The waiter went to check and when he returned he informed me that there was no mention of a cake on the reservation. I used to eat there when it was Simms Landing. Great food, greater service. After Landry's bought it the prices went up and the service went down. Twice in two years and both disappointing. After climbing stairs and moving through a crowded dining area, the first food you are presented with in the buffet is a table of marshmallows, rice crispy treats, sad strawberries and chocolate sauce... Another table is filled with staples from a family picnic - macaroni salad, deviled eggs, cheap bread rolls...I was amazed. $60 per head? Someone is laughing all the way to bank. The "mains" included tri-tip which was so tough it was barely edible ( and could never cut through it with the provided butter knives), barbecue chicken pieces, bacon, maple sausage, au gratin potatoes, overcooked scrambled eggs, sorry looking crab legs, flavorless eggs Benedict that sat too long... Brunch buffets are hard to do well. This was subpar to poor. Basics like coffee service was super slow, and the dessert bar was...sad. It is highly recommended to try the Sunday breakfast buffet because there are so many options. Prime rib, crab legs, and a wide variety of sweet decadents are just a few examples of dishes that are served with unlimited mimosas or your preferred coffee. Breakfast consisted of waffles, eggs, and cinnamon rolls. Everything was delicious and fresh, and the rolls provided the ideal beginning.
