Okay, I've been here four times for lunch before and never written a review. Probably because it's always been... fine. Well tonight for my first dinner visit and fifth visit overall I feel compelled to write something. And that something is really simply a question. What happened? My lunch meals have always been fine. Pretty sure I've always gotten salads... and they've been entirely adequate. Tonight we started the spinach artichoke dip... totally average and generic, servers with chips, salsa and sour cream, strangely. I had the chicken club. Pretty decent but totally on par with something you'd get from any decent deli. But the real jaw-dropped was the Hickory Burger. This thing was the saddest excuse for a burger I've seen in quite a while. All I could think when I saw it was... WTF? Described in the menu as CANADIAN BACON, GRATED CHEDDAR, ONION, HICKORY SAUCE. That is quite literally what showed up, so I can't fault the description. But whoever thought it was a good idea to serve this thing with raw onions and cold shaved cheese has another thing coming. Who are you and what other winning ideas are you serving up...? Chicken sashimi? Hot lettuce? Seriously. Look at the pictures. This is what foodie nightmares are made of. Top it off with bland French fries and you have one very disappointing meal. Ambience, service, and salads save this rant from being a totally disastrous 1-star review but I was a near miss. read more

The new location is beautiful but does not have the great feeling of the old one. The food is every bit as good. the noise level is terrible. The architect needs to maybe go back to school. I have on a previous occasion reviewed this store when it was located just off of Dodge at the Boys Town exit. They closed that location and moved to a new construction facility across from the Boys Town post office. Sadly, much of the former dark wood ambience was lost in the rebuild. Also the lunch time noise level could be compared to the NY Stock Exchange. One has to crank it up several decibels to be heard. My wife ordered the chicken salad and I ordered the Rueben. We also had an appetizer. Everything was excellent apart from the Rueben. The corned beef was so tough I had to rip it out of the sandwich. It was like chewing on leather. The more I chewed the bite seemed to grow larger which made swallowing become questionable. We will return to Charleston's but we will frequent the 74th and Dodge store in future. Warning. Do not order the Rueben. Everything else is quite good. read more

We came here for lunch after hearing good things. The food was subpar and the service was not welcoming. I ordered the Famous French dip; it might be famous for not being good! The meat was in hunks and fell out of the bun. The rest of my group ordered the fish and chips. Their review was that it was average, nothing they would return for. We visited charlestons for dinner to celebrate a birthday. We had a good experience before. We were seated right away. We order drinks and spinach artichoke dip. The dip was very disappointing. The Costco stuff tasted better. We would not order it again. I ordered medium rare prime rib. My wife order salmon salad my oldest son ordered the salmon dinner and my youngest son ordered the pork chops. The salads that came with the entree were average. The parmigiana cheese was on my wife's salmon salad was plastic like. It was tasteless and nasty. She liked the rest of her salad. My prime rib was disappointing. The meat was tough and not very flavorful. I would not order it again. My son liked the salmon but did not like the tasteless squash mush served with the salmon. Next time he would order the salmon salad. My youngest son really liked pork chop dinner. The portion size was very generous . He would order it again. The service was excellent. Our drinks were regularly refilled. The timing between each course was excellent. She checked on us regularly. She was well trained. Overall it was a disappointment. read more

I've eaten there hundreds of times, and I have never had a bad meal. Servers are excellent and help each other.

Overall, it was a very good experience. The environment was beautiful. The food was excellent. The service was very pleasant. We arrived around the 6:00 dinner rush hour. We were told it would be about a 30-40 minute wait time, but it turned out to only be 20 minutes. That's always a nice surprise. They are very prompt in being able to get their tables cleaned and reseated. The food deserves 5 stars. I had the French dip prime rib sandwich with fries. My S.O. had the 14oz. prime rib dinner with baked potato. Both meals were excellent and a very good portion size. The only downfall was the noise level. It is a higher end atmosphere, but the noise in the room would make you feel like you were in a sports bar. That's the only reason for the 4 star rating. read more

Went to Charleston's for the first time ever tonight. We sat in the bar. My friend got there before me and had ordered spinach and artichoke dip which was delicious. The chips that came with them were bland and salt less. We ordered the Flatbread pizza which is very good. We both had a cup of the baked potato soup because people just rave about how good it is, and I couldn't agree more. If you haven't had it you really should go. It has a "steak house" atmosphere. Hailey was our primary server and the service was fantastic. We will definitely be back soon! read more

Charleston's is exceptionally consistent. I used to frequent regularly when I worked at an office nearby and after not visiting for a while came back for a weekend dinner. Our table of 6 really enjoyed our meals. Steaks, salads, sandwiches, everyone walked away satisfied. I do wish they took reservations for party sizes smaller than 8. We were a party of 6 and when I called ahead to make a reservation I was told it needed to be 8 or more. read more

My wife and I were in town from California and stumbled upon Charleston's while searching for another local steakhouse. My wife ordered the 7 oz filet and I ordered the New York steak which was tonite's special. Both steaks were cooked to perfection. Better still, the staff was top notch, as good if not better than some of the higher end steakhouses like Morten's or Ruth's Chris and this place has a family type atmosphere which makes it very inviting. The service at this restaurant is amazing! I ordered the filet with a house salad and blue cheese dressing. The salad came with blue cheese crumbles, hard boiled egg, bacon, and a warm buttery croissant. It was a good size and delicious. The filet was perfectly cooked with a little char and seasoned really well. My water glass never got below half, and I drink a lot of water! We had a big slice of key lime pie for dessert. It was a little tart, just the way I like it and had real whipped cream on top. read more

Most people return to restaurants bc of good food and a lot of times the food is so good the service is overlooked. This restaurant stood out to me bc the service is amazing. Tonight was my second time returning to Charlestons and each time the service was 5 stars. From the moment I was greeted by a server to the moment I got my check the service was a 10/10. They were patient with my wife when it came to ordering, the drinks remained full, my son got bread when he wanted it, they made sure our food was to our liking, and when my wife wasn't happy with her fish they didn't make her feel uncomfortable when she wanted to order something else. As far the food goes: Fillet 8/10, baby back ribs 7/10, Sirloin I didn't try it but my son said it was delicious, bread 8/10. TIP YOUR SERVER FOLKS THEY DESERVE IT read more

My friends and I decided to come here for dinner on a Friday night which so happened to be the night before my birthday! I had expected this place to be well serviced with quality food...our experience here was much different. We were seated quickly by someone whom the hostess passed us off to (I'm not sure if he was a host or not) and our drink orders were taken shortly after. Then...nothing for a pretty long time. Ten minutes goes by, so we keep chatting catching up, I'm looking around watching the server help the table I was facing (we were in a booth) I look behind me and I see another server helping the table behind us and I see no server coming our way. Another ten minutes goes by and we flag down a busser who took our appetizer orders. We explain to him that we are waiting for someone to take our meal orders. He talks to the Server behind me and as I see their exchange the Server does not look happy. The Busser flags down another Server whose section is on the other side of the restaurant and she ends up taking care of us and taking our orders. I'm all about customer service and understanding where the Server comes from, however, having experience in the Service industry I had little patience for the Servers here. My issue is that, as a Server your job isn't just to pay attention to only your section, if you see customers who are waiting for awhile it's also your job as a representative of your restaurant to ensure that all customers are happy even if they're not in your section because service is also a reflection of your company. Since we were right next to two different Servers who were attentively helping the tables adjacent to us it was difficult for me to understand how we could go unnoticed for such a long period time. I will also add that the restaurant was by no means full or busy. We found out later, that the Server that was assigned our section apparently left work and it seems that the hostess/host whomever sat us was unaware of this crucial information. Moving on to the food. I decided to order the Prime Rib, Medium, and see how it was. The rest of my table enjoyed their food, I on the other hand felt that my food was a little bit rare for medium. It was still okay, but perhaps I will order something different should there be next time. Lastly, my impression of this restaurant prior to having dinner here was that this was a fine dining establishment, where the front of house or manager usually goes around and asks how everything was going. Perhaps, he/she left early but no one came by or asked us how we were doing or compensated for the service that was provided to us. Not that I think it's necessary, however, for the mistakes that were made on this night, a simple apology wasn't enough to feel great after we left And isn't food something we should all be happy about after eating a great meal? I fully realize these are difficult times, some folks don't! This has been our go to place when in Omaha. We both can not have gluten and they are always very accommodating. Both of our steaks were cooked to perfection as to how we asked. Was looking for good place for celebrating my birthday today. A friend recommend Charlestons, and we were pleasantly surprised at the great food and service. Bit was our waiter and he was very attentive and a accommodating. We shared a shrimp appetizer which was very tasty and the shared a New York strip with added blackened grilled shrimp! Cooked to perfection and very tasty. We finished up with Carrot Cake and Key Lime pie. This were so big we took half of each home for another night! I visited this location and Devin our server was absolutely amazing, he was attentive, welcoming and ensured honestly the best experience I have had in a while at any restaurant across the US. Our food came out to perfection and he personally checked on everyone's dishes to make sure we were satisfied. The food bottom line was on point- cooked perfectly and had very good flavor. The key word for this place must be consistency: I have been a faithful patron of this fine establishment for 19 years an it's one of the most consistently good restaurants in town. The staff is always on point an it's a local hang out for business executives during the lunch hrs. Great place to handle business lunches an dinners. Now to the food. From the prime rib all the way down to the amazing house salad you can't go wrong w anything. My absolute favs at this place are the following: House salad- the fresh bacon, egg croutons an croissant that is to die for makes this bomb. Chicken tenders....yes I said it an omg these are some of the best in town I kid you not. The homemade batter w thyme makes them insane an some of the best you've ever had. Oven roasted chicken: extremely tender seasoned to perfection an a must have. BBQ Ribs: these ribs are succulent with an insane amount of flavor. Melt in your mouth. We went with friends. Three for me is "average". It's not a bad rating. This restaurant was a strong average - maybe even okay plus. My salad was fresh and tasted good. The croissant was delicious! Our waiter was courteous and professional. For my main course, I ordered the blackened tilapia. It, and the broccolini that came with it, was incredibly salty. Sadly, I could only eat half of it. My office went here for a work event. I hadn't been here in probably 8-10 years so I was excited. We went on a Thursday night at 6pm so the restaurant was not too crowded. It took a while to place orders and get food, but we were a larger party, so it was all reasonable. We got the chips and queso and spinach dip - both awesome, and came with salsa. We were able to get additional chips at no cost. They were crispy, buttery, and salty - very tasty! For the entrees, my coworkers got filet tips, chicken tenders, and enchiladas. They all seemed to enjoy them. The sides were large and everybody enjoyed their choices. I got the chicken picatta, served with broccoli. The food was good, hot when served and provided a large enough portion to have lunch the next day. I also tried the blackberry mule while I was there, which was very good and definitely worth getting. The prices are high here, but the service was excellent and the food was very good! read more

So our last experience at Charleston's was not the best and my review was less than complimentary. However Charlestons was always one of our favorite restaurants so a couple of weeks ago we decided to give it another try. We are very glad we did as this visit was much better. I will chalk the bad review up to an off night as this experience was right on! We actually ordered the same food as we did on the off night . I got the Chicken Club Salad and it was delicious. My husband got the Salmon and he thought it was perfect! The service was also spot on. So glad we went back. Now we can put it back on our list of Favorites! read more
