WITHOUT QUESTION, ONE OF THE BEST RESTAURANTS IN OMAHA! Over the holidays, my family went to Charleston's in Omaha (144th & Dodge) because it's my grandson's (and the rest of the family's) favorite restaurant, and it didn't take long to find out why. The service was phenomenal--from a truly excellent waitress named Abby who was delightful, to quick delivery and warm smiles from a host of other servers attending to our every need, be it refilling water without being asked to speedy turnaround on drink and food requests. And the food--honestly, some of the best I've ever had, not only in Omaha, but anywhere. It started with a scrumptious salad that included chopped egg, bacon, and a unique creamy garlic dressing you seldom find anywhere, to a light and airy croissant that accompanied it, so soft and hot that it literally melted in my mouth. My grandson ordered two kid orders of ribs because they are hands-down "the best" he's ever had, and my husband's baked chicken was to die for, as was my chicken piccata, definitely a cut above any other I've ever had. So, when I ordered a second glass of wine halfway through my meal while nursing the last of my first glass--I just assumed it would be speedy too. After all, my husband--who ordered a cocktail at the same time as I ordered my 2nd wine--received his drink in record time. So, I put my utensils down because I preferred to wait for the 2nd glass of wine in order to finish my meal. Only it didn't come. So I flagged the waitress to remind her about the wine, and she nodded and sped off. Once again, I assumed she would bring it soon. After waiting 12-15 minutes, I finally asked my husband to purchase me a wine from the bar, which he did, right as Abby delivered the late glass of wine. By this time, not only was my food cold, but I no longer had an appetite, marring what otherwise had been a truly wonderful dining experience. But what happened next proved to me without a doubt just what a high-class restaurant The Charleston truly is. Abby could see I was upset, so she took it upon herself to bring the manager--a gracious woman named Maggie--to the table, who promptly offered to comp my meal. I told her that was unnecessary. Maggie promptly apologized for the drink delay, not only explaining the bar was so backlogged that Maggie herself was delivering drinks, but insisting on comping both my meal and my wine for the inconvenience. Seldom have I seen such exceptional customer service anywhere--where the customer is king--and for that, The Charleston Restaurant--and it's truly amazing personnel as evidenced by both Abby and Maggie--will forever have my allegiance and highest of praise. We have driven past this place many times and one evening after Costco's decided to try it. Since then we have returned 3 times. A new favorite place when in that part of town. The faceplate of Charleston's on Yelp says it is a Steak House. We have chosen to see it as a 'somewhat' upscale hamburger place. But, they also serve very good alternatives to burgers. At our last visit I had pork chops and she had the chicken fried chicken. They were both good. I mentioned this to her while we were eating and also in this review because we have noticed that we tend to choose a place we know and want to go back to by a favorite food they serve. In the mood for friend checked? Well, which of these places do you want to go to this evening? Charleston's had not been this way for us. Between us we have tried 5 different dishes in 3 separate trips, each was good enough to order again. One of her favorites is the Upside down Pineapple cake for dessert. We both really liked the chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and their carrots. I've been here many times and it's one of my favorites. Lights are low and it's a great place for a date night or a special celebration. This time I tried the Parmesan chicken and glazed carrots, which are my favorite. They have many drink options. Staff is always very nice and friendly. read more

Overall a very nice lunch today. We had a party of five and we were seated very quickly when we arrived just after open. I have only been to this restaurant two other times and I believe they were both fine. Today was fine as well as I ordered the Parmesan crusted chicken and ice tea. The meal was overall very good. I enjoyed the chicken and the salad that came with it but the angel hair pasta was very bluh. If I had to guess, I would say it was buttered noodles and that's about it. I have mixed feelings about this place, it's good don't get me wrong... but the price for the food?? May not be everything it's cracked up to be. It has a very well known reputation in town for being AMAZING. Some people love it, but my first experience... I wasn't impressed. What was great you ask? The service was very good (although they forgot my beer and our auju juice), the waitress was on top of her game and so was the staff on filling up drinks. The dynamite shrimp is a must have and the house salad was a hit for the family and I enjoyed my first beer snow beast on tap! What was mediocre? The prime rib is what they are known for but it wasn't anything amazing for the $29 for a 10oz price tag. I've had better in town unfortunately. The food is still really good. The atmosphere at the new place is disappointing. It used to be a quiet warm intimate type of dining experience. Now it's cold and very loud. This restaurant carries an awkward vibe and the location isn't easy to find. They have 2 areas with the full alcohol bar which I don't think they opened during the lunch hours, their decoration quite warm and very classy cold tone but there are couple wall-arts depict bright colors, I feel like that areas and the kitchen are completely off. You could find their location next to a freeway with plenty spots for parking. We loved the dip, chips quite good but we wish they could make it less salt. I asked for no salt for to go but they cannot accommodate it. The dip quite fresh with a warm enough cream that doesn't leave a fatty aftertaste like most other place. It seems like the server was nice to have my burger pair with the fries, when I didn't even ask for. I don't think there is that such a detail on a menu saying whether a burger goes with a fries or any side. Also I rather left it 3 stars but they refilled water and paid attention to our table responsively. So 1 extra for the team works during such a busy lunch hour. Went to the new location in April and was disappointed in the atmosphere. We loved going to Charleston's not just for the food but the rustic traditional ambience and fun bar atmosphere. This new location is modern and not warm and comfortable. The food is still good, but probably not go there as often anymore because of the atmosphere. Thank heavens for a local restaurant that could take a large party last minute and serve a variety of dietary requirements. We had a last minute need for a business dinner and Charleston's seated us and served us quickly. We ordered appetizers as the group arrives - plenty of options to share. Queso was really good and the chips were served warm. Flatbread pizza was made with no sausage to suit our vegetarians. And it was delicious. The wine menu by the glass is good. Our beer guys thought the IPA selection could have been stronger - but maybe that's not a Nebraska think? Overall good food and strong service for a fair price. Sides were a bit expensive at $7 for fries and a $9 up charge for a house salad with your entree. read more

At this point I'm angry. I downplayed the issue because of the initial response from Charleston's management. Plainly put, the staff was impatient from the get go. The staff members toward the end loved taking off food from my family-despite us paying for the food and us being a large group (AKA we paid the most in a bill) and it was the staff members here that insisted we stayed, instead of going to the other location & being late for our reservation. I would've rather paid a late fee and wait at the other location compared to being here. TLDR; food was good. The shitty part was the employees being too lazy to be decent human beings to correct other people's behavior or even the manager who couldn't be bothered to address the problem and other employees taking food off our hands-despite paying for it! I don't know if this establishment is lazy or if the higher ups just can't get rid of the manager of this location. Many times it's when the manager has some special connection to the higher ups that they don't actually fix the problem or the manager is blowing off the concerns as "we got it handled" & brushes things under the rug. read more

We walked in and the hostess said there would be a 25-30 min wait (said ok) put our name on The wait list. We waited and waited and waited, people who came in after us were being seated. Finally, someone in our party asked how much longer the wait would be? The hostess said "oh, we notified you awhile ago" mind you we were sitting just left of them. We were the last ones sitting there and they didn't even have the decency to say "hey, I noticed you've been sitting here awhile. Let's get you seated..." I never received a text or call saying they were ready for us(guessing the chick wrote my number wrong). So we sit down, two of us ordered the rye amaretto sour and the glasses were sticky. Our loaded baked potato didn't have any butter and the steak taste like propane. The waiter was pleasant but I won't be taking my family back here. We had a larger party at Charleston's - there were seven of us. We had reservations and were seated right away. They are well decorated and the prices are reasonable. They also seem to draw a pretty good crowd. Everyone in my party said they had good meals. If it was me only, this wouldn't be a four-star review but only three. Why? They are very allergy-friendly but not very communicative. After checking on a few dishes, I was counseled that since I have a milk allergy, I could have the $35 steak or the $12 hamburger. Since there were seven of us, I really didn't want to spend the extra money so I ordered the hamburger. (In fairness, they did mention a couple of other options which didn't appeal to me.) When the food came, mine came out last. They served me a hamburger and fries with lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickle. There was no bun. I asked and they said they were not sure if there was milk in the bun so they chose not to serve it to me. They really should have come to me earlier, before they served everyone else their food. They offered to make something else. Of course, since everyone had their meals, I didn't want to make anyone feel they should wait until mine came out. Had they given me any notice, I would have ordered something else. They took the burger off of the check to try to make up for it. But, my disappointment carried through the meal. I'm very glad everyone else had a good time and a good meal. The next time we're back in Omaha visiting family, this seems to be a favorite of my in-laws. So, I may be back. Very nice steak place in Omaha. We came as a big group and were able to be seated right away. There looks to be plenty of seating for big and small parties and they weren't full on a weekday evening. Good cocktail selection for cheaper prices than in SF, which was nice. The Moscow mule was a solid drink for $8. For dinner, they have a few steak choices, plus the typical American options such as fish, pork chops, burgers, etc. I got the handcut filet which comes with a baked potato (you can substitute with other sides - I opted for the burgundy mushrooms) and a house salad. The house salad had bacon bits in it and came with a piece of delicious honey soaked bread. I had chosen the bleu cheese dressing, which was a bit too rich for my tastes, but there are a bunch of options. We also had the spinach dip for the appetizer and that was really good, though it was a bit hard to share given the way its plated. Service was pretty good and we got our orders in a mostly timely manner. They were good about coming around and checking in, refilling water, etc. Plenty of parking in their lot. read more

I've been to this Charleston's location numerous times over the last few years. Usually a good experience all around. Service is usually quite good. They tend to do a better job of staffing than your average sit down place. They usually hire older or more experienced waitstaff. This goes a long way in providing a more professional experience. The food is always good but doesn't blow my socks off. For example the prime rib has great beef flavor but just isn't very tender. I've ordered it several times and always find this to be the case. Just disappointing. Decent appetizers in the way of queso, flatbread, shrimp cargot, etc. Fries are usually crispy and fresh. They have an awesome Pinot noir from Oregon--smooth yet full bodied. I do like the ambience a lot. I was surprised to find out it was a chain...it just doesn't look like one from the inside. It's dark with sconces that cast a romantic light on the white brick walls. It was ok. I got the shrimp salad and the flavors were just too strong. The mayo based sauce on the shrimp was so heavy the shrimp got lost in the bite. What an interesting spot. As soon as we walked in I felt like I was underdressed but got more comfortable as time went on seeing other customers. Pricing is reasonable. Staff very friendly. Best coleslaw I've ever had. My friend got shrimpcargo, she let me try one. It was amazing, as well as a salad and loaded baked potato. My friends mom got a cheeseburger and said it was good. I got the blackened chicken and avocado club lettuce wrapped with the honey mustard on the side. This place is open late (until 10pm), has some good steak, and the service is great! We had the sirloin and the rib eye, each with a baked potato. Our steaks were cooked just as we asked.
