This place has been here forever. Been coming here since I was in my 20s and still coming back. It does help that it's right across from where I work, but it also helps that the prices are very reasonable. You're not expecting high class dining, but you do want what you're eating to be filling for the lower price. I ordered the cheesesteak and it was very good. The Nail is a classic place to head with coworkers for after work drinks and noshing, or at least that's what I've always been here for! Honestly, the food is pretty okay and drinks are too. Last time I came, I got an order of fries + ranch (such good ranch, akin to Runza ranch) and a glass of Chardonnay. First visit in. We seated ourselves and the place was about half empty so plenty of spots to choose. Nothing stood out as great about the visit - neither the food, the drinks, nor the table service. What stood out as not great was the food service - my eggs and bacon were sent out a solid 5 minutes before any other food was brought to our table. What followed was my friend's breakfast bowl, then a few minutes later my other friend's chicken and waffle, followed a few minutes later by my waffle. In between watching our food get brought out, we watched our waitress drop off other table's food. Who runs a kitchen like that? A plate for this table, now a plate for that table... The other "not great" was that the patio door was slamming shut every couple of minutes (or more) for the duration of our visit. So if you like a noisy environment with mediocre food, average service, and cooks who don't realize a table's food should be served at the same time... then by all means stop in. If I do venture back it'll be for a quick Happy Hour meet up. But a leisurely brunch? No. (Make sure to slam something shut every so often while reading this to get an authentic feel.) read more

The Rusty Nail is a nice little hometown bar that feels like it's great for the "regulars" who frequent there, and also for everyone else for an odd game or two that you want to catch in a nice sports bar style setting. It's a little old fashioned in the ambiance and layout, with a split level design that has the bar and a few booths in the lower section and a large open area with free standing tables/chairs in the upper area. It has a lot of wood features, a concrete style floor, and LOTS of TVs (even some that are in the booth with you), which makes it a great place for watching a big game. It can get pretty crowded in there on a weekend or big game day, so definitely plan for that/get there early. They also do karaoke and music bingo on certain nights of the week too, so if you like those types of activities, check out their calendar for upcoming events. The service and food are excellent from what we've experienced. They are always checking on if you need another drink/refill or any of your plates cleared away. The beer and drinks are served extra cold and crisp, so they're definitely doing something right behind the bar. In terms of food, it's definitely bar fare, but it hits the spot if you've been there for a while watching a game or out with friends drinking. We've had a lot of different things: -Spicy Fried Cheese Bites: I am a cheese lover and these were great, but they were a little TOO spicy for this wimpy girl. I still liked them, especially with the marinara sauce provided, but just be aware and believe them when they say "spicy" fried cheese. -Fried Green Beans: I LOVE fried green beans, and if you do too you know that they're not a super easy thing to find at Omaha restaurants anymore. So if you are a fan, definitely get these. They are the standard fried green beans, served with ranch, but they hit the spot for this fried green bean lover. -Garlic Cheese Bread: This is basically a smaller version of the cheese pizza that you can order, but with a little side of marinara sauce and cut into strips for you to share. Classic item that you will know if you like or not, based on your preferences. -Boneless Wings: I am an adult toddler who prefers boneless wings over bone in wings, and they have a teriyaki sauce option (which is my favorite and not too many places have it on their main menu). They never come super incredibly well dressed in the sauce, but I appreciate that they offer both boneless wings and teriyaki sauce. -Rusty Mac and Cheese: This is a pretty big bowl of Mac and Cheese so it can be an entire meal if you're not too hungry for protein. The cheese sauce is white cheddar and gouda, which work well together, and it comes with diced bacon on top. You can add a sauce as a topper for free, but any additional protein, like chicken, pulled pork, etc - will run you $2-$3. So it's a nice big bowl of Mac and Cheese with another sauce if you want to add it and it can be a little more hearty if you add another protein. -Pizza: They have pretty good pizzas in a lot of the standard flavors - supreme, pepperoni, beef. A good option if you're a pizza lover and want a good bar pizza. -Reuben: Reubens are a big thing here in Omaha and there are some that people love and others hate. This one was pretty in between, with a not too offensive sauerkraut flavor, well cooked corned beef, and a melty topping of 1000 Island and Swiss Cheese all on rye toast slices. You can get Reubens a lot of places in Omaha, but this one is most similar to an age old classic style Reuben. For Desserts, we've tried their dessert pizzas, or Dessert-Zas. They are similar to a streusel dessert in a pizza shape, and come in either a cherry topping or apple topping. We've tried both toppings actually and both are pretty good. You definitely have to be a cinnamon and streusel fan, and I definitely recommend adding one of the fruit toppings! Next time you're thinking about going out to catch the big game or just for a fun night of drinking/karaoke, I think you should give Rusty Nail a try and see if you enjoy the ambiance and food - it may become a new option for you the next-next time you're looking for a fun bar. read more

Went last night for Taco Tuesday. Service was slow, and the servers were disinterested. Ordered tacos and it took them 40 minutes to arrive. And they were not hot, not even warm. Some of the beef filling fell out of the taco shell and was cool to the touch. Our beers took quite a while to arrive too. Not sure if that's a reflection on the bartender or our server. We ordered water and they did not arrive until mid meal when we requested them a second time. This is our second consecutive trip to the rusty nail with the same experience. We came here with a group during happy hour and had a great time sitting on the shaded patio! I had never been in before--the inside is definitely a whole in the wall vibe, but the patio is a bit classier in my opinion with a nice fire pit, couch, and plenty of tables with large umbrellas for shade. We ordered drinks, and every app on the happy hour menu. Our favorites were the queso with ground beef, pretzel bites, and especially the cinnamon pretzel bite dessert (not on HH)! The quesadillas, coconut shrimp, and garlic cheese bread are things I would not get again, although nothing was really bad. Well here might be my first one star review. Went to rusty nail yesterday. Sadly didn't even end up eating . We sat at our table. After about 5 mins a server brings menus and says I am just dropping this off. I am not gonna be your server. Ok. So she comes to table next to us 2 times over the next 10 mins. Looks at us but nothing. Another server come to table on other side of us looks at us and doesn't say anything. Now some time passes and we have now been sitting at this table for 22 mins with menus and not one person has approached us. I can see much frustration on other people's faces around us. We just got up and left as obviously after 22 mins. What a joke. Sadly the food I saw on people's tables doesn't look like we missed much. Just to be clear here this is not my first time at the nail. I used to really like The Nail. It was a decent bar with above average food. Went yesterday, sat at the bar to eat (first time doing that). Servers were more focused on talking with one another, bar tender could only do one thing at a time and if someone came in and sat at the bar it was a complete reset on completing the task she was doing previously. Bartender was literally looking at a sheet on how to make certain drinks. A guy who appeared to be the manager was sitting at the bar completely unconcerned with how long it was taking to make drinks, take orders, deliver food, greet customers. I also saw a waitress walk out of the kitchen holding the tab holder with the bill and a credit card/pen for signature. She used it to cover her mouth when she coughed. I have lived by this spot for years and finally decided to come try the brunch. They have bottomless mimosas for 12$ which is probably the best price in town. I ordered the cinnamon roll French toast sticks for an app which were great and came with a lot. For my meal I had the hangover cure which is a pork tenderloin topped with ham bacon egg and cheese! Recently visited my family in Omaha and landed at the Nail 3 straight nights to meet old friends and get a bite. Food good and reasonable. Service was attentive and friendly. Could watch game if I wanted and one night there was an event music bingo, which was great fun. My childhood home is within walking distance of this place, so that is a big plus in addition to the attributes mentioned above. My Dad even goes here on occasion for Taco Tuesday. read more

I looooove coming to the Rusty Nail for brunch!! They serve brunch and lunch at the same time so on Sundays you're able to have your food then leave with half price appetizers to-go! Every time I come I order either bottomless mimosas or an Irish coffee and the Wakeup Bowl which is loaded with everything you need during a hangover. I love that the music isn't too loud and overbearing and the classic rock/80s playlist makes me happy. There are hella televisions to watch whatever sport you want, and I never have an issue with the service! Went to watch a Husker game on their newly remodeled patio. Love the big gas fire pit. Nice big screen with a couple other smaller TV's. Would be nice to have more tables in front of the other TV's as well but we were lucky to score the only table in front of the big screen. Had the queso dip for an app. It was pretty good but the tortilla chips that came with it were super salty. I ordered the cheesesteak sandwich and I have to say it was one of the BEST I've had for sure! I like the touch of queso they put on it. Can't wait to have it again! In the past I have had great experiences at the Rusty Nail. But this time was not that. This past weekend we had a work party scheduled and when we showed up we were told our area was not ready for us. This was called and booked a month out so it wasn't a last minute party. There was another party booked before us and they were not moving. The owner was slowly piecing together tables for us to sit at but didn't even try to tell the other party to move for us. Being the one who planned this party it made me very upset to make half of our group stand around while we waited for tables all over the restaurant to leave. And we never did get a nice area set aside for us. They were busy and everyone understood waiting for drinks but I have heard from multiple people in my party that drinks were coming back incorrect. The food was good and the band and karaoke was fun but I would second guess booking a party there again. What is the point of booking if you aren't going to have the reservation when you get there? read more

We just had our family Christmas party (~20 people) at the Rusty Nail and we had a terrific time. We worked with Amber before hand to set up our menu options and everything was delivered hot and on time. Our dedicated server worked flawlessly with us and everyone was happy, happy, happy!! The location works especially when we have events at MNHS. Although the teen at our house finds it awkward when her teacher is at the next table obviously on a date. As a parent we found it to be entertaining until she started describing her plan for us later in our life if we didn't stop. It's definitely a place where regulars come and that is evident from the servers interactions with their customers. If you are looking for some decent bar food give this place a shot. And if you teach at MNHS maybe don't meet a date here for a beer. read more

Stopped by today for Taco Tuesday. I had beef tacos while she opted for Garden Salad with crispy chicken. Really like the fresh fried taco shells. Onion ring appetizer with ranch. Lovely day so we sat in the courtyard. Jaden was excellent. Agreed everything was fresh and delicious. Charred wings is a fave and will definitely try next time. Daily specials plus Happy Hour 2-6. This 5 star review is more about the venue than the food. Local "dive bars" have been a part of the American landscape going back 100+ years. They play a role in our culture that no other food/drink establishment can equal. Rusty Nail fits this to a tee. If the old wooden booths could talk you can only imagine the stories and the drama that they soaked up over the years. I so encourage you to come to this slice of America, order a pitcher of beer and some grub. Speaking of grub, the food is classic "bar food" and a solid 4 out of 5 on that front. Service is exactly what you expect. Friendly, story telling locals there to make your visit special. My wife and I came in to have dinner and the atmosphere was great. We ordered our food, my wife asked for nachos with no pico I ordered wings. Onion rings were good, when we got our nachos it had pico on it. My wife said don't say anything I am hungry I will scrap it off. My wings were not very good, very rubbery and had a weird bad after taste to them. Like they were cooked in an oven and not fried. I ate some thinking that the taste would go away but it didn't,I had the waitress take them away. The waitress seemed distracted by talking to people at the bar rather then making sure our drinks were full. We paid then she kind of forgot about us, we like to leave cash tips so we were waiting for her to come over so we could give it to her directly but she couldn't bother to come over so we waited 20 minutes and still nothing she came over and I had my hand up and she walked right past us. We finally said the hell with it, no tip for her and left. This was my first experience and last sadly. I have an upset stomach now from those potentially bad wings. read more

The outside is a bit deceiving. The inside is pretty well lit and it's a huge space with multiple seating options (booths, tables, bar). There were multiple TVs but they were muted so it wasn't crazy loud. Definitely enjoyable atmosphere! Our server was very prompt and we started with nachos. They were really good. I ordered a burger and fries. They were both so tasty! My husband opted for the cheeseburger salad which shows everything pictured atop shredded iceberg lettuce. They have amazing wings, get them charred. I have gotten the mild buffalo they have a slight bite to them but not overly spicy. If you like them super spicy you can get the hot buffalo and the atomic which will bring tears to your eyes.
