I had a very disappointing and concerning experience at this restaurant. I ordered a margarita with no salt, but it was brought out with a salted rim, and I can see that salt dripped into the drink. I asked for it to be remade. What happened next was unacceptable. I watched the waitress take the drink back to the bar, where the bartender (with his hair parted in the middle) poured the margarita out of and over the salted rim, into a different glass instead of making a new one. That same drink was then brought back to me. This isn't just poor service, it's a serious health and safety concern for me. There is a reason I asked for no salt. Rather than admitting a mistake and correcting it properly, they chose to cut corners and hope I wouldn't notice. If I hadn't seen it happen, I would have unknowingly consumed something I specifically asked to avoid. There were other issues during the visit, but this alone is enough to ensure I won't be returning. Trust is critical when dining out, and unfortunately, this experience showed that it's lacking here. read more

Finally checked out Charleston's with the husband. Our kids were with their grandparents so we decided to enjoy a happy hour dinner at the bar. We didnt know what to expect as we have never been to a Charleston's. It was nice, clean, and fancier than I thought it would be. The bartender was friendly and attentive and we were served right away. They have really good happy hour drink deals. 8 diff cocktails all $8 each. I got the crisp martini and my husband got the old fashioned. Both were good but the old fashioned was a little too sweet. For our appetizer we got the shrimp carrot which was super buttery and cheesy. We also split the flat iron steak special. We ordered it medium rare and it was more of a medium well. It was on the salty side and the steak had the same texture as ham or like a school lunch meat....something about it reminded me of a jerky too. It was interesting and didnt taste bad but unlike any steak texture I've ever had. It cost $29 so wasn't expensive for a steak but I guess we should've gone next door to Mahogany Prime if we wanted good steak or even Texas Roadhouse up the way. Even though we were disappointed with the steak we still had a great time. Will def come back and try a salad or the chicken piccata. What a fantastic place to eat dinner! I went with a group of friends before a fancy event and it was such a great experience. The place was clean, fancy enough for dresses but also not too fancy where you can't wear jeans and a t shirt. The waiter was so friendly. The food was great but the queso was exquisite!! Charlestons has been my go-to steak spot for over 20 years Through the years management has changed, locations have changed but the food has always remained the same high quality. I always get the filet with a baked potato and house salad with their home-made blue cheese dressing. I promise you'll never have blue cheese dressing better than theirs. You won't find a better made baked potato with perfect crispy, salty skin. You won't find a better prepared steak. And lastly you won't find a nice big flakey, buttery croissant with honey drizzled on top like charlestons The only negative I will give is I miss the ambiance of the older location. It was dimly lit and had a cozier family vibe compared to the new brightly lit more open, modern design Other than that all of their food is top notch. I know other family really enjoy their shrimp scampi and noodle dishes. They also make killer bread pudding when it's on the menu! read more

Three of us decided to try Charleston on a Monday night. First time dining at their 145tb Street location. Very nice in terms of decor. Bethany was our wonderful waitstaff. Charleston's has been my family's go-to "what should we eat for dinner" restaurant since I've been a kid. I was sad to see it leave the old location, but I was happy to hear they were keeping the same menu. My husband and I visited the new location last week and had a really good meal. We started with the chips and queso, which I had never had, but it was great - a little spicy! I had a chicken and avocado club. This was a nice, large portion and tasted light and fresh. My husband had the enchilada plate, and he was also impressed by his meal. The only note I have is the ambiance - it is LOUD. I feel like the dark, moody feel of the old building inherently lent itself to using quieter voices, but the bright, new location does not. I hope the invest in some kind of noise-reducing infrastructure, because I know I'm not the only person to notice the voice level. read more

On Monday evening, my husband and I took our kids (19 & 23 years old) to Charleston's for dinner after Christmas shopping. I was told there would be a 10 to 15 minute wait, but as soon as we checked in, they told us a table was available for us. That was a nice surprise! The interior of the restaurant is very classy and pretty. We were seated at a booth, which had a view of the kitchen. It is kind of fun to see the chefs working on their dishes. I ordered the roasted chicken dinner with mashed potatoes and glazed carrots. Their glazed carrots are my absolute favorite! The chicken was very juicy and tender and the mashed potatoes had a bit of a garlic flavor which I enjoyed. My husband got the French dip and said it was very good. My daughter ordered a salad with chicken on top and it was huge! She could not eat it all. My son got the Reuben and fries. He said the sandwich was excellent; he did note that the Reuben sauce had bits of celery in it, which is not his favorite, but he still said it was good. All of the food I saw servers bring past our table looked delicious as well. This was not our first trip to Charleston's, and it most certainly will not be our last. read more

Kaylee was my very sweet waitress, which was a nice way to start dinner after traveling from Raleigh to Atlanta to Omaha. Surprised by lunch today, and not in a good way. We started with the potato soup which did not disappoint us - it's always great! The french dip sandwich, however, has changed - once our favorite, it now features stringy beef that is tough to chew, resembling the meat in frozen dinners from 30-40 years ago and with little or no seasoning; the French fries tasted like frozen potatoes that had been in the freezer too long: bland and soft. I'll admit I was partial to the 'old' location at FBS. The new spot is just not the same with a lighter decor (I loved the old clubby feel) and the bar ticked away from the front door. We used to love Charleston's, I just feel like lately things have changed. I don't know if they've changed items on the menu or where they get the food from prior to cooking it but it just feels like it's gone a bit downhill from what they used to offer. We went last night because we had a gift card. I ordered the 10 oz. filet & my wife & daughter both ordered the parmesan chicken. I ordered the steak medium, it came out well done. I'm not too snobby about my steaks but if I'm paying $43 or more for a steak you HAVE to cook it pretty damn close to what is ordered. It default comes with a baked potato, it doesn't say a word about if you can swap that side out or not. Under sides on the menu it says $7 each side which is just goofy to me but whatever. Most employees there looked a bit like you just went down to the local Subway & grabbed a few employees. A guy had his hair up in a strange "bun" with half of it hanging out, black shirt was dirty, just not the type of dress code/hair requirements I'd expect from a nice steakhouse. I know it sounds bad but if you saw the employees you'd know exactly what I mean. You can have long hair as a guy & still look clean & presentable as a waiter. My daughter's chicken came with the little side salad on her plate, her dressing was liquid, shiny, just looked like nice italian dressing. My wife's plate had the same salad & hers looked like it was this white sort of chunked up almost blue cheese dressing, it's like they pulled her salad out of the fridge where it had sat & the dressing hadn't sort of melted back, who knows but they looked completely different on each plate. The tomatoes had white built up dressing on them, just very strange. I will say I'm glad we had a gift card because I wouldn't have been happy paying full price for my steak. I doubt we'll go back to that one to be honest, just too many choices out there for a steak, especially at $43 or more (I'm pretty sure the menu showing $43 is talking about the 7 oz., no clue how much the 10 oz. was) I honestly can get a better filet at Roadhouse for cheaper, with sides, with rolls. read more

Going to have to drop to 3 star o last visit. Ordered the ribeye at market price. The filet has always been great. The ribeye was so small and thin at best a half inch. It was very ordinary nothing to get excited over. Market price was $45 I've had the same quality and size at steak house that I expected to be served something similar at $20.00 I always had the filet but thought I would try something different at the new location. WITHOUT QUESTION, ONE OF THE BEST RESTAURANTS IN OMAHA! Over the holidays, my family went to Charleston's in Omaha (144th & Dodge) because it's my grandson's (and the rest of the family's) favorite restaurant, and it didn't take long to find out why. The service was phenomenal--from a truly excellent waitress named Abby who was delightful, to quick delivery and warm smiles from a host of other servers attending to our every need, be it refilling water without being asked to speedy turnaround on drink and food requests. And the food--honestly, some of the best I've ever had, not only in Omaha, but anywhere. It started with a scrumptious salad that included chopped egg, bacon, and a unique creamy garlic dressing you seldom find anywhere, to a light and airy croissant that accompanied it, so soft and hot that it literally melted in my mouth. My grandson ordered two kid orders of ribs because they are hands-down "the best" he's ever had, and my husband's baked chicken was to die for, as was my chicken piccata, definitely a cut above any other I've ever had. So, when I ordered a second glass of wine halfway through my meal while nursing the last of my first glass--I just assumed it would be speedy too. After all, my husband--who ordered a cocktail at the same time as I ordered my 2nd wine--received his drink in record time. So, I put my utensils down because I preferred to wait for the 2nd glass of wine in order to finish my meal. Only it didn't come. So I flagged the waitress to remind her about the wine, and she nodded and sped off. Once again, I assumed she would bring it soon. After waiting 12-15 minutes, I finally asked my husband to purchase me a wine from the bar, which he did, right as Abby delivered the late glass of wine. By this time, not only was my food cold, but I no longer had an appetite, marring what otherwise had been a truly wonderful dining experience. But what happened next proved to me without a doubt just what a high-class restaurant The Charleston truly is. Abby could see I was upset, so she took it upon herself to bring the manager--a gracious woman named Maggie--to the table, who promptly offered to comp my meal. I told her that was unnecessary. Maggie promptly apologized for the drink delay, not only explaining the bar was so backlogged that Maggie herself was delivering drinks, but insisting on comping both my meal and my wine for the inconvenience. Seldom have I seen such exceptional customer service anywhere--where the customer is king--and for that, The Charleston Restaurant--and it's truly amazing personnel as evidenced by both Abby and Maggie--will forever have my allegiance and highest of praise. We have driven past this place many times and one evening after Costco's decided to try it. Since then we have returned 3 times. A new favorite place when in that part of town. The faceplate of Charleston's on Yelp says it is a Steak House. We have chosen to see it as a 'somewhat' upscale hamburger place. But, they also serve very good alternatives to burgers. At our last visit I had pork chops and she had the chicken fried chicken. They were both good. I mentioned this to her while we were eating and also in this review because we have noticed that we tend to choose a place we know and want to go back to by a favorite food they serve. In the mood for friend checked? Well, which of these places do you want to go to this evening? Charleston's had not been this way for us. Between us we have tried 5 different dishes in 3 separate trips, each was good enough to order again. One of her favorites is the Upside down Pineapple cake for dessert. We both really liked the chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and their carrots.
