Came here for our 40th anniversary dinner. 1st off...it does NOT make you look fancier having to see & hear the cooks AND DISH WASHERS! NOBODY wants to hear the constant clanking of dishes being washed, or hear cooks yelling back & forth. Makes it feel like a cheap cafe. 2nd, My husband's food was very good & hot & our wine was good. I on the other hand ordered baby back ribs & they were cold. My sides were piping hot, thankfully, so I didn't starve. Our son is a manager at a nice restaurant & wonders is someone forgot to throw the ribs on the grill to heat them up. BBQ sauce & the meat weren't even luke warm. Our waitress, who appeared to be working the bar, too, wouldn't come by, so we told another waitress who stopped to ask if I wanted more water. She offered me new ribs, but my husband was almost done with his dinner & I could not see the ribs I had go to waste OR take the chance of some1 spitting on them. I said thank you, but we will just take mine home & have them another night. No manager came over to apologize, no offer to comp my meal or free dessert. Our waitress did ask if I wanted another glass of wine. SERIOUSLY? "Just give them more alcohol & maybe they won't care!"? My family and I come to this restaurant a lot for large gatherings. We held my parents' anniversary dinner here and quite a few birthday celebrations. They do great with large parties. The service is always good, even when we play musical chairs and split checks a million different ways. We typically choose this place because we can bring in our own wine, but the food is great too. I ordered the top sirloin, and it was cooked perfectly and tasted great. I also love their salads and the croissants they serve with them. We ordered several different items, and everyone enjoyed their food. My sister is crazy about the shrimp scampi. Prices are pretty decent. The decor is classic, and the atmosphere is warm. Charleston's is one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. I just finished a parade and I was starving so my mother and I went to Charleston's. First then menus were extremely sticky. Then got a glass of water so full that it was practically overflowing. After that, I got a cheeseburger that do greasy that my hands slipped off two times. Charleston's is definitely a staple restaurant for my family. In addition to family dinners I have chosen this spot for several business lunches. The atmosphere is very nice and warm with the glow of flickering wall lamps. There is something for everyone. My boys love the prime rib and the french dip with cheese. I have a few personal favorites Walt's champagne salad with grilled shrimp or the newly added shrimp scampi. I love going to Omaha, and Charleston's is one of the reasons! On this last trip, I went to both and this location appears to be a little 'swankier' so head here over the other location on Dodge. I have the same thing every visit... 10 oz Prime Rib, medium rare and I ask that they throw it on the grill to make it medium. With French fries and a side of fresh horseradish you can't go wrong! Their salad with honey mustard is great, but the croissant is out of this world (put it on the side of you can stop eating it and have it for dessert!) So if everything is awesome, why only 4 stars? One thing Charleston's does have (regardless of location) is simply crappy hostesses! The one on Dodge seems odd and the host (a young guy in his 20s) here is no better. My husband and I used to frequent Charleston's when we wanted good food and good service in a very adult setting. I have to say the past few visits have left us questioning if we want to come back. I am writing this 3 star review after our visit this past Saturday. It was right around 11:00am when they opened for service. We were promptly seated and greeted. Our waitress was taking our drink order and kept getting distracted with her co-workers in the back paging her repeatedly and goofing off. When waiting on customers, playtime is over. I ordered a margarita on the rocks with no salt around the rim, and after making sure our waitress received the correct instructions 4 times, she brought out a margarita on the rocks with salt. I was very irritated after reminding her 4 times. I decided to just drink it because I didn't want it screwed up a second time. Our waitress should have taken it and fixed it without question, yet she thought it was funny. On a positive note, she did keep our drinks full for the rest of the meal. We ordered the Chicken Club Salad, Prime Rib French Dip, and Fish and Chips. My French Dip was not seasoned well, and left my tastebuds confused. For $20, I was hoping there would be more zing. For both the French Dip and Fish and Chips, there could have been more taste and quality. The Chicken Club Salad was consistent as always. How can you screw up a salad with Chicken Fingers?? Anyway, we were very unhappy with our experience for what used to be enjoyable. I like that the employees have fun and enjoy their job, however maybe management should call the owners of Hiro and get some advice on how to multi task and have a fun work environment. read more

The steak was delicious, think and juicy..blah blah blah, but what really got me about Charleston's was the salad!! I went there about a month ago when my husband and I were driving through and I ever since, I have been on the quest for another delicious salad like that! I don't know what about the good ole' house salad made it so good, but I still dream about it, It came on a chilled plate with the freshest of lettuce. Bacon, Hard-boiled eggs, and red onions all contributed to the greatness of this salad. I asked for ranch and it had just enough mixed in for some good flavor. I was in town from Colorado. Went to Charleston with family for "brunch" at 11:00 when they opened. I ordered Fish & Chips, which I love, on recommendations. All the dishes looked great and nice portions. My Fish & Chips were done to a nice flaky texture but the over cooked batter took away from the taste. It seemed the batter was a little on the thin side. My french fries were soggy and limp and I couldn't eat most of them. My bad for not speaking up to our waiter. Now I understand they just opened for the day but fryers are usually one of the first thing you turn on when walking into the kitchen. The waiter and the rest of the staff were good. Nice interior and seating was spread out nicely. A lady near us had a reuben, which I love, and it was stacked high. If I return to Omaha, I will have that. read more

Fast and excellent service. The food was tasty, but there was quite a bit of butter or oil added, probably more than was necessary. Shrimp Cargot appetizer had melted cheese on top which was great but shrimp was overcooked and the bread that came with it was very buttery and it was a little overwhelming. Wish the bread was toasted but not so buttered since with the shrimp already in butter and oily cheese on top was already enough. Ordered a blackened fish which was great and all the vegetables were perfectly cooked, and I always appreciate a restaurant that does not kill the veggies. Green beans were crispy and really well seasoned. Price was reasonable and along with decent food and great service it's a place I will definitely visit again. read more

I have been dining at Charleston's for several years. It's the favorite spot for a few of my family members so I'm there almost once every few months. The Oven Roasted Chicken is the star of the menu which is always juicy and the perfect portion for me. Other than that I'm not too impressed with the remaining menu. In fact it's just plain old bland most of the time. After going here for so long I wish there was something else I could eat that had some impressive flavors. The service is always on point and some of my favorite servers are at this establishment. The prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is simple, clean, and perfectly lit. Overall I think Charleston's is just OK. I think this restaurant is only relevant due to their prime location around a bunch of white collar businesses. read more

Have to update per a recent experience here over Memorial Day weekend. The thin delicious crispy chips on the spinach dip were replaced with these thick generic grocery store chips and that disappointed the whole group. My fish - blackened - used to come with a mango salsa type of thing and this time it came with some savory bean salsa which was not good at all. Sides were just average. This restaurant has consistently given great service of the last 20 years I've dined there. I've always enjoyed the Peach Bellini, the croissant and the prime rib. They have plenty of protein options if you're trying to avoid red meat. I also like that they have nightly specials that aren't available on the regular menu. The lighting is low and the sound level is average so that you can hear the conversation at your own table. Gem of an eatery in Omaha! We stopped for a Friday lunch, I was wearing casual clothing and when first walking in I felt very under dressed. The hostess was well dressed along with the wait staff. The lighting was dim with a romantic feel. Our waiter was friendly, however a little scattered... forgot a few things here and there, but it was all good. When ordering drinks we asked what beer was on tap - an ale, bud light, and Stella... I passed. The drink choices may have been a strike out, but the food was wonderful! I had a mahi mahi sandwich topped with house made coleslaw and tartar sauce. I INHALED it as it was soo good... The fries were decent, not anything spectacular... but the fish made up for it! Went on a very busy night and managed to get a table for 6 pretty quickly, so props for the quick seating. Server was attentive and friendly. So another thumbs up there. I had the roasted chicken, which was excellent, but the potatoes were room temp at best. My partner - who is a vegetarian - had a kale salad, which was swimming in dressing, and had atop it a peanut satay sauce that was neither listed on the menu nor appropriate to the dish (it was highly inappropriate, actually). Other folks who were with us enjoyed their entrees: fried fish was great, prime rib also good. Biggest strike, though, was climate control and the obliviousness of the staff with respect to the issue. Virtually everyone sitting on our side of the restaurant was wearing their coat because of the draft running through that part of the place. No apology from the waitress, no attempt to alleviate the problem, or explain it. Turn on your heat, ya skinflints. And if you didn't notice that your customers were freezing, start paying attention. This place reminded me of the Houston's chain I used to eat at back in Louisiana. I'm not sure if they are owned by the same company, but they are VERY similar and that is a good thing. My husband requested dinner here for his birthday and we all really enjoyed the experience. The food and service were both great. We loved our server. He was very friendly and laid back. My husband got the chicken fried steak, I had the prime rib and our daughter had the kids yogurt cheese and fruit plate. We were all satisfied and the portions were HUGE. We decided it was time to give this restaurant a try on a Saturday evening. Parking lot wasn't crowded, however the tables were full of patrons, a good sign. I counted 6 hostesses waiting to greet and seat us, another positive message. The server found us quickly and brought us our drinks, took our order, and checked up on us regularly, another plus to recognize. To my surprise, the food came out quickly in a crowded restaurant. My chicken fried steak was good but could have been seasoned a bit more. The prime rib was excellent and probably one of their best selections for first timers. The service was superb with other servers stepping in to clear any cups or dishes even though it wasn't their primary responsibility. I will be returning soon. read more
