This place is just wonderful. The atmosphere is great but really the food and service is where the glowing recommendation comes from. Well, although the food was good. I had ordered a keylime pie to go. While at my hotel room later that evening, I decided I would like to have my keylime pie. The food was very good, big portion, tasty flavor. And the service was super nice, we enjoyed Hailey's good friendly smiley service, she was so nice to bring us another mashed potatoes dish after we told her we found a little hair in it. Then she was super nice to take the dish off our bill after we told her we found another small hair in the dish. Thank you Hailey! The mushroom was great! I love the cute little mushroom with burgundy flavor in it, just one bite you know you would like it more and more! They just fired our favorite server, James I. Will no longer be going to Charlestons. They just lost a loyal customer. We used to go to the Charlestons in Chandler (it closed) Scottsdale (it closed), only one left is in Mesa. But I am sure they will lose many more loyal customers because James is not there now. Not anymore, picked up a chicken/avocado club sandwich today & the avocado they used was brown/rotten & belonged in the trash last week! We were a part of 4. There was only a wait of 15min. Service was fast and friendly. Main issue is the food. We ordered the artichoke dip as am appetizer. The chips were good but the dip lacked flavor and was salty. My boyfriend ordered a sangria. He said the flavpr was really bad, he had to return it. He ordered the perfect Margarita instead which was much better, but a little on the sweet side for me. For dinner I had the Caesar salad to start which was really good but could have done with less dressing. The main course was the bone in ribeye cooked to medium rare. It was chewy. We also asked for the blue cheese with red wine sauce on the side but unfortunately they served it on top of the ribeye. The sauce was not good at all! I had to scrape it off the top to eat the steak. My boyfriend ordered the chicken parm and said it was decent, not much complaints but also nothing special. The ambiance is casual, the booth was a little tight for the 4 of us. We kept hitting elbows when eating. I wouldn't come here again, the food is lacking. read more

Been coming here for years, not frequently due to location but several times. The food is always good and service is above average, but today's experience was at 5 star restaurant level. Hostess treated us, waitress was very nice, brought refills before needed, and food came out fast and hot. We must have had 5 different wait staff come by to help clear the table, etc and the manager stopped by at least once to see how things were going. As we left, 2 hostesses thanked us and wished a great rest of the day Not sure what changed there, not that it was bad before, but this a $1,000 dinner tab experience and not a $35. I hope they can maintain it because I'll drive out of my way regularly if it continues. read more

Such a good steak! My boyfriend and I came for our date night and it did not disappoint! Our server Chris was great! We ordered our steak medium rare and it was cooked to perfection. I also traded out the baked potato for mashed potatoes and let me tell you that I am glad I did! The mashed potatoes were creamy, fluffy and everything you could possibly want from mashed potatoes. I know I'm picky, but charlestons has the best ribs in Arizona! Fall off the bone is the exact discription of these, with a flavorful bbq sauce. Yum! The shoestring fries are always crisp. The chicken tenders have a golden brown breading that keeps its crisp too. The baked potato is cooked perfect with all the right amount of toppings. And lastly the croissant ate my favorite!!!! I almost left a 5 star review before my food hit the table... to start, the food was amazing. Shrimp Cargot as an app was excellent, the bread pudding was one of the best desserts I've ever had.. for dinner my partner had the Parmesan chicken and I had the Piccata Chicken both great. But..
