Stewed beef noodle soup
Mary L.

We went for late lunch here: sauteed shrimp, xiao Lund bao, stewed beef noodle soup and soybean sauce tilipia. Food came out fine: love the Xiao Lund Bao with just right skin thickness and flavoring of the filling, the beef noodles tasted great, the shrimp very tender. The fish took some use to get used to but soon I loved the sauce. This is a place to get something close to Shanghainese food as most Shanghainese places seem to have closed nowadays.

Interesting Decor!!! First time here and very excited.

Family oriented, great food and fantastic service. The quality and service made it a great experience and will return. Recommended by a friend.

Wine chicken

I haven't been to this restaurant in awhile. I used to come here more often. The last time I was here, the food did not taste as good as before. I decided to come here again to see if the food tastes better or worst from my last visit. I ordered the following: (1) Shoyu Meat Balls (2) Wine chicken (3) Garlic fish sauce egg plants All three dishes tasted average. Not bad but not particularly good. The wine chicken could use more wine taste. Prices were good. Service was average.

I love coming here for some comfort Chinese food. The food is consistently good and the staff is always friendly. It's a solid go-to for me when I'm craving some Chinese food! I really like their meatballs. Great flavor, comes with some napa cabbage, and pairs really well with some rice. The bean curd stir fry is also one of my favorites (although fyi it's slightly on the oily side). Portion sizes are generous too. I always leave happily stuffed. The staff is super nice and the wait is usually not too long. Def recommend checking this place out!

Chrysanthemum tea and soaked peanuts! Yummy! Loves the kettle.

I had a really nice time here and the food was pretty tasty. The service was good and the servers were nice. I liked that they offered a couple tea options to pick from. I chose chrysanthemum. Although, a tea kettle is not complimentary, it's $5. I really liked their tea pot. I think it was made of iron. It was heavy and really well made. I tried the hot and sour soup. It was delicious with lots of mushroom, bamboo and pork. I tried the sweet lotus and that was pretty good, not too sweet. I always love the chewy texture or lotus. Then I tried the shoyu meatballs. They were huge! And sooo soft! I'd never had a meatball that broke apart like biting into a snowball. I added white pepper abs soy sauce to the soup and meatballs and I enjaules everything. I would return to try other things!

I think to judge a place based on two dishes isn't fair. But I'm usually one to finish all my food whether I like it or not. And today I didn't finish.... I just couldn't complete. Just came back from my trip to Norfolk Virginia, and I decided rather than going to my usual spot Corner Beef Noodle Soup down in El Monte and Ramona, I decided to check out Changs Garden. 唉... Hear me out the menu looks exciting, I'm sure if I we're to order some Hangzhou style stir fry cuisine, I may be very well impressed, but I decided to go with simplicity. Their beef noodle soup had fairly good feedback, so I went for an order. And of course, might as well order some Xiao Long Bao while I'm at it. Ok. In my honest opinion. I'm not a fan of the noodle soup. I feel, this is what was served by Mr. Dragon 30 years ago in the Hong Kong Supermarket on Colima Rd and Fullerton Ave, and even back then I was never really impressed by Mr Dragon other than from what I remembered...the food was working class and fed single household parents and their children. You get what you pay for. And I think a restaurant in a neighborhood like Arcadia, if you are gonna advertise top notch beef noodle soup, it should live up to a certain level of expectations. The Xiao Long Baos tasted maybe a level better than 99ranch Frozen Xiao Long Bao. So both dishes would not be something I'd come back and order again. I've seen Chang's Garden in this plaza over the decade and just never decided to give it a go. Usually back then, we'd come out here to go to Sin Ba La. But like I said, judging this restaurant based on two dishes isn't fair. And so I'm going to order two more items to go: Beef Rolls, and Sweet Soy sauce chicken stir fry, Chang's Stir Fry, Leeks and Smoked Pork Belly. And maybe give a second opinion the next time I visit.

This is one of the quiet old restaurant in town. It has been there quite some time. As asian restaurant, service always swift, we ordered tea and quite amazed with iron tea pot served. sweet and sour pork was while fried fish was stealing the show!I can eat this just with white rice and without anything else. The place design for large number of diner since they have the round table with lazy susan. Will definitely come back for the fish and other dishes to try!

Kung Pao Shrimp, Beef & Chicken

Overall - 9/10 - This has been a restaurant that I have gone to since I was young. They use to be in San Gabriel location before moving here to Arcadia. This is a local restaurant near my parent's place and my hometown. Their food has always been good and they have a great selection of pretty authentic Chinese food for any taste. The restaurant has decent parking because in a plaza with decent parking. It sometimes can get crowded during lunch hours. Food - We ordered a variety of dishes. I love the Pineapple Shrimp. It is similar to the popular Walnut Shrimp dish except that they use pineapple instead of walnuts making it less heavy. I enjoy the thinly bettered shrimp and the light flavor. They don't overly use the mayo. Also, I like kung pao 3 way with the shrimp, chicken, and beef. I love the flavor of the dish and the variety of protein used. The last dish ordered is the spicy black bean fish fillet. It was a nice balance of salty and spicy. It is overall a good dish for those who like fish. Overall all the dishes that we have ordered from here were all pretty good. Overall Experience - This is a Chinese restaurant that I would return to again. It has a wide selection of food and now they have lunch specials and dinner specials 7 days a week.

Good taste that hits the spot! Food was good overall, service quick. Nice variety of dishes

Tingling Spicy Fish

Oh my gosh... this meal was life-changing. The dishes here are all seasoned so well and have a truly authentic Chinese feel to them. Their lunch special prices are ungodly reasonable and totally worth it. In the multiple times we've been here, I've been able to try: + Tingling Spicy Fish (6/5 - would highly recommend) + On Choy (6/5 - would highly recommend) + Twice Cooked Pork (5/5) + Snow Cabbage fried Peas & Tofu Sheet (6/5 - would highly recommend) I think the majority of my dishes here being a 6/5 speaks for itself. Even the service here is above-and-beyond fast and friendly. Would definitely recommend this place if you're looking to impress someone! I will be back here many, many times. :)

Great value restaurant with a huge menu and big portions. The food is delicious and comes out quickly but still hot and fresh. The portion sizes are really good for a fair price. Definitely great for family style with something for everyone. They have a large private dining room too, and the staff are nonchalant and friendly.

Seaweed Fish Fries
Gerina O.

Lots of parking in this plaza though it can get quite busy on weekends. The restaurant has lots of seating and a private room in the back to accommodate a larger party. Pricing is really reasonable with big portions. I got the seaweed fish fries and the Shanghai baby ribs and both were delicious. Service can be a little hard to flag down even when they aren't that busy.

Sammi S.

A classic restaurant in the SGV with authentic Chinese dishes. We really enjoyed their spicy pot which has a mix of small intestine and pork blood (it sounds more gruesome than it); the spice really covers any gamey taste. They also make a great meatball, though their ribs are not as consistent these days. They make a mean sticky rice dessert that has lotus seed and red bean in it which is delicious.

Really disappointed, I'll never order food from this restaurant again. Unhealthy foods; so fattening and Xiao Long Bao tastes poorly.

They also closed around 2pm this particular Saturday and that didn't coincide with the store hours. We did try the veg rice roll, curry pastry, egg omelette, mushroom/pork bun, and green onion pancake. There's a self serve sauce bar with chili oil, vinegar, etc. the food is authentic but nothing to write home about. I would like to return and try the mochi sometime

I was disappointed when we first got there because it was only 3 o'clock and they said that they were already out of the purple sticky rice for the item.I wanted to buy... They said they had it in white rice, so I thought, well, since we're already here, let's try it. The girl on TikTok said she wished she would've added an egg, but because we had a language barrier. I couldn't explain to her.I wanted a Fried egg,( I wanted it Wet) she gave me a hard boiled egg and it was an extra $2.50... I was pretty disappointed in this Salted white rice roll. Everything seemed old and soggy it was wrapped in plastic wrap, wasn't hot...and it was supposed to have a Chinese fried donut inside with a very crisp bite to it. It wasn't...it was soggy and flat...very chewy...And also The rice on the outside was not crispy/crunchy at all... Nothing really tasted fresh.... And that soy milk drink, everyone has their own preferences and tastes, but I did not like that soy drink at all... It tasted like wet hay/grass... And it was $4.95... she did ask me if I wanted it hot or cold....So I guess they serve a hot version, My son Bobby said that he liked the taste of it, but I noticed after the first couple of sips, he didn't drink anymore, I asked him did ne want it,he didn't...so i ended up throwing it away.... I also bought an order of the soup dumpling, And I was very disappointed in that because the dough that was around it was too thin, and when you picked it up it ripped, so you didn't get a soup dumpling. You just got a small piece of meat inside the dough. Because all of the juice dumped out when it ripped. Not a single one of them was lifted out onto the spoon, and the meat inside was a very small piece.I should've taken a picture of it , but I was just done with it... for $25.00 +tip I WONT BE BACK. I think i'm going to try the,'Yi Mei" in Monterey Park... I heard there's also one in San Gabriel. I hope I could find purple rice roll and all of its crispiness like that girl in the video , because this place was nothing like that!!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND. ALSO I TOOK PICTURES ... of the little cakes and snacks that they had for sale on a counter. We didn't buy or try any of them.FYI

This one was good and the only thing I would come back for. They had various stuff dumplings. The pork dumplings were a little bland. The beef dumplings were good but were not out of this world. The beef noodle soup was also flavorful and they give a good amount of tender beef pieces. The beef roll was just okay. The dough could've been a bit thicker and crunchier. Nostalgia dish here was always their JiaoHuo JiaoHuo / Spicy Combination Marinade. Mom & I always add our own vinegar and chili oil to taste and it tastes just as I remembered. We also tried: -Half Tendon/Half Beef Noodle Soup, this was good. We took out the noodles so they wouldn't drain all the broth. Broth tastes good, and decent amount of beef. -Cucumber appetizer was okay, it's just salted. They use Persian cucumbers that were fresh & crunchy. -Shanghai Style Pan Fried Rice Cakes, this had good toppings but the rice cakes themselves didn't have the wok hei of the wok and were a bit dry. -Stinky Tofu (fried) is a skip for me. After my recent trip to Taipei again, the ones here were no bueno. It needs the pickled cabbage, and the garlic soy sauce. They weren't really stinky either. Service was a little slow with the lunch rush. One unisex bathroom available that was fairly clean. Plentiful parking in shared parking lot with the plaza.
