Super nice time here eating brunch. Staff are kind and fun. The food is all made from scratch, and local! I really enjoyed my Crab Swiss Asparagus Quiche. Affordable pricing and tons of good options to choose from. Blueberry pancakes, self serve coffee, and HUGE biscuits! It's a really cozy spot and I love how some of the stuff around is interactive - the tables are really cool and you can draw with the chalk on them. Lovely view and outside seating options. 11/10

A little drawing I made on the table. Yes, you can draw on the tables at the chalkboard Café.

This is a friendly little café right along the water. Food is always delicious and inventive. I had a traditional English muffin-and-egg sandwich with a portobello mushroom. My husband had an egg sandwich with an Irish soda bread bagel. He said it was fabulous.

Amazing food, the sweetest couple owns the restaurant, food is all from scratch. Felt like family as soon as we walked in. The atmosphere is cozy and eclectic, Highly recommend the philly, with a side of au jus!

My husband and I escaped Portland for a chilly Monday to the coast. Because my husband loves Philly Cheesesteaks, so this was a must-try. Tucked away off the main drag along the river, this place is a true hidden gem. Even though it was a Monday, it was surprisingly busy, but we were lucky enough to snag a table near the counter (sadly, not a chalkboard table!). My husband ordered his Philly and I opted for the French Dip, and both sandwiches were absolutely delicious! The fresh-baked bread is a huge plus. We also both got the macaroni salad for our side. That was quite good too. Next time I'm in Seaside, I simply must swing by to try more of their fresh baked goods. We chatted with the friendly owners and learned they've only been open for a year. I predict a long and successful future for Chalkboard Cafe!

This is super cute place next to the river. They have THE BEST breakfast sandwiches, quiche, pays and Philly sandwiches!! All made from scratch! Owners Ken and Angie truly put passion in making the most delicious food. A must when visiting Seaside!

The best cheese steak I've had - I had trouble eating it only because they LOADED THAT B UP. Amazing. This place is awesome and if you're in seaside, this is the one. I overheard them saying to the chefs that it was the best Philly I've had and I heard one chef say to the other "great job"

Their Philly cheesesteak is the best I ever had! I just wish it was a bit bigger and that the bread was a bit more crispy.

The sandwiches people talk about are solid, and you can sit there with a drink, look out toward the river, and have yourself a pretty decent time. The staff treated me right too and believe me, that doesn't always happen. Sometimes I walk into a place and I get no respect... no respect at all. Now why not five stars? Well, it's like climbing a staircase. This place isn't stuck on the bottom steps it's about three-quarters of the way up. But it just doesn't reach that top landing. It's missing a little magic, a little spark in the ambiance. Everything's good, don't get me wrong, but it's a bit plain Jane. I save five stars for when a place really knocks my socks off and my socks are still on. But hey, four stars is still a good place to be.

The woman behind the bar, may have been the owner, was so kind, caring and attentive. She made conversation with me over my license from Colorado, asked my name and remembered it as I was leaving saying "have a nice day, Nate" Soooo sweet and kind. A true gem of a human. She even had regulars that she said "I told you when we were on that hike that I owe you a drink so this ones on me" freaking precious. Okay now that I'm done praising the owner/bartender. The food was exquisite too. I got a basic cheeseburger with pepper jack cheese, tomato, onion and lettuce. It was cooked well and was enjoyed heavily and quickly haha. The cook even came by to check that I liked it as well. Very warm place with great food. Much enjoyed. The place was clean and kept up well. This was one of the first dive bars I had been to where they had slots and that was a bit of a twist. I didn't roll the dice on them as the only thing I gamble on is once a year and that the horses at the Kentucky derby. Keeps my gambling in line and doesn't upset the in-laws too much. If I visit Seaside OR again, I will absolutely find myself back here for another delicious burger and friendly interaction.

Bagels by the Sea - Review…read more We stopped into Bagels by the Sea while visiting the area and had a mixed experience. Food & Drinks I ordered a cinnamon raisin bagel toasted with a side of cream cheese and an Americano. Unfortunately, the bagel came with the cream cheese already spread on it and was wrapped up in a bag with other hot sandwiches. By the time we opened it, it was a bit of a soupy mess. My Americano tasted decent enough, but it was only lukewarm when it was served. I drank about half before it got too cold to enjoy. My husband ordered the Eggle Bagel with bacon and a white chocolate mocha. He said the bacon was good, but overall the sandwich didn't have much flavor. It was okay, but not something he would order again. The coffee was decent. My grandson had a cinnamon raisin bagel with cream cheese and a hot cocoa. His bagel ended up being a soupy mess as well because the cream cheese had melted after being wrapped up with the hot food. He did say the hot cocoa was delicious though. Atmosphere The atmosphere was cute, eclectic, and overall inviting. It has a fun little seaside café vibe that we enjoyed. Service Service wasn't terrible, but it also wasn't particularly welcoming. Staff weren't rude, but there wasn't much warmth either. One thing that puzzled us was that they toasted the bagel and immediately spread the cream cheese on it before wrapping it up, which made it pretty messy by the time we ate it. We also ordered our food to eat there but were given everything in a to-go bag, which added to the feeling that maybe dine-in wasn't really encouraged. Pricing Prices were about what you'd expect for a seaside town. Overall, it was an okay stop, but with a few small improvements in food prep and service it could be a much better experience. Would we return? Probably not. We would just look elsewhere for a better experience.
