Then the chicken salad on a homemade almond flour biscuit which was lightly dressed and the biscuit, well I wanted to take extra biscuits with us because they were so tasty, fresh and soft. Immediately comfortable vibe and laid-back space. We were drawn by the almost exclusively GF menu and found a lot of choices. Friendly, inviting, customer-first orientation, quick response to orders, and appropriate timing to food delivery. The bread is excellent--kind of a biscuity bun--and holds up well for a lumpy sandwich. Ingredients are fresh and tasty. The lady gave good service the food was expensive and very small portions. My soup of the day chicken tortilla soup was thick and very very salty. We'd had a girlfriends getaway in Long Beach and two of us were on the way home through Astoria when we found this GEM! They cater to dietary restrictions such as dairy free, paleo, keto.... and I'm not sure what else, but just ask them. The couple who own the place are GREAT... she took so much time explaining why they do what they do and we loved the conversation. My lungs hate dairy products and I like to breathe on a regular basis, so I imagine my joy when I saw a dairy free CHOWDER on the menu!! Heaven in a bowl! My friend doesn't have dietary restrictions but loves to eat healthy, so she was quite pleased as well. Both of us ordered the chowder, and I immediately purchased two more cups of it to take home with me. It doesn't strictly taste like a (dairy) chowder with bacon, but it was very much warm comfort food with cauliflower, bacon .. just delicious. Then we ordered the BLT to share. It's on their homemade almond bread, which gave the BLT an unexpected nice nutty flavor. Right now I'm having trouble remembering the other item we purchased, but it was also delicious. I did take pictures, but they're too big to add here to Yelp, so I'll do that in the next few days. If you want completely 'homemade with love', natural and local ingredients, then this is the place for you. The food doesn't taste like anywhere else, as they have their own recipes. For us it was a great exploration of new and intriguing items to taste. Both of us LOVED the food and it's now our favorite spot in Astoria. Lovely owners, that make you feel comfortable even as a nervous customer. The first time I went the owner was super lovely and explained the different items and helped me decide what to get within my diet limits. Today I went back and she remembered me and was very welcoming, they were busy but still made time to have a quick chat and help me again decide what to get I had the Mediterranean chicken wrap, the pink juice and a brownie!!
