Never having been to Chicago, I was afraid of where to stay and luckily the Central Loop Hotel was fairly central to my needs. It was VERY easy to walk to Millennium Park and a nice walk to Navy Pier. I didn't use the subway once nor did I use a taxi. If you like walking and being downtown, this might be the place for you. The room was decent size, as you would expect with any hotel room. The sofa bed, I was told, had a VERY thin mattress so you might want to plan around that. The room I was in, 647, I think, was not small. One of the nice things about the hotel is that they provide each floor with plastic water bottles and a cool water filtration system. I've never seen this before and really enjoyed filling up whenever I could. read more

I was so disappointed with this hotel after a weekend's stay. For the amount of money I spent for there evenings, I would have expected something better than mediocre. The pros: it is in a great location - within walking distance of a lot of great, touristy things. They have free, refillable water bottles on each floor (neat!). The cons: the rooms are itty bitty. My mac screen is about the size of the TV they offered, which was very off-centered from the TV; so bizarre! The bathroom was old, in need of a lot of repairs, and rather dirty. There was a little bit of mold in the shower and the grout in the titles was filthy. It was a noisy hotel; every noise that was made by other guests could be heard in my room. The bed was rock hard and I slept horribly. If there are comparable hotels nearby for similar prices, I would recommend not making this your first choice. read more

Stayed here the weekend of the Chicago Rock & Roll marathon, got a much cheaper rate here than any other hotel. Located right downtown in The Loop, great location walkable to the train and park. Did self-check in assisted by a hotel employee, actually got there earlier than our 3:00 check-in time, watch out because they might overbook it. Maybe we just got lucky, but we had a corner room on the 9th floor which was very nice. Free wireless is a huge plus. Would definitely stay here again! read more

Wow... The bathroom is half the size of hotel bathrooms I have been in. The sink is small, no tub but rather a wide shower stall with curtain. The closet is tiny, and a window off to one corner wall. Maybe it is some rooms, maybe that's the way for all, I don't know. We stayed a few days and only experienced the room we had. Water bottles to fill in the hallway, which is different, yet convienent. Hotel is walking distance from New Millenium Park. read more

Watch out for cleanliness issues. I arrived in my room to find clumps of hair in all 4 corners of the bathroom. The next morning while doing a floor workout (they provide a yoga mat and a workout video in each room), I saw some almonds and a bottle cap on the floor at the edge of the bed and nightstand. On my way out, i stopped by the front desk and let then know. She told me she would have someone go do a deep clean. A couple hours later I got an email from housekeeping apologizing and saying I'd get a deep clean. Arrived back to my room to find the hair gone and the bottle cap picked up. BUT the yoga mat was exactly where I left it and the almond was moved 6 inches. So they didnt even vacuum. How do you consider a room clean - surely not "deep cleaned" when your staff doesnt even vacuum??? Staying for several days for a work event and pretty disturbed wondering what else is never really cleaned in my room. Also interesting that in a hotel that caters to people who are in town for work, especially government work, that there wouldnt be a mini fridge in the room. I wouldnt recommend or stay again. read more

For what it is I think this hotel was good. Centrally located in the loop close to the Quincy brown and the Monroe red stops. Yes, the rooms are indeed small as well as the bathrooms but hotel rooms are meant to be places to rest not necessarily comfort. I didn't appreciate the fact that my room faced the west alley and got to hear the department of sanitation banging around dumpsters at midnight, every night. Heater worked fine, water was warm (although it took a while to get it up to the 10th floor), cable had a good selection, WiFi was strong. Cards are required to use the elevator and I found myself SOL twice when I left my card in the room so I had to huff it down 10 flights of stairs. The lobby is heated which is nice to walk into after being outside in 19 degree weather. Staff was friendly and I sent a package here before my trip and they had it waiting for me. There is a computer lounge was a lot of MACs and PCs, and also a fitness center. read more

The room looks different than it looks on the hotel but it's still a nice room and it's clean, the concierge is nice and the hotel is a good location read more

It was pretty fun staying here. The automated check-in and check-out were convenient. The free bottled water was a nice perk. The interior of my room was very small but cozy (I got a single). The decoration of the room was nice; the bathroom was cool. The in-room perks included wifi that didn't work, a wired connection that did (thank goodness) and connectors for hooking up your computer to the tv/monitor. Pretty cool. Overall this place was obviously for business travelers. It was decently affordable and fine for my purposes. I'd stay here again. read more

I booked this hotel on Hotwire - it is definitely not worthy of 3.5 stars. Location: For business, shopping on State street, or walking to Millenium Park, the Central Loop Hotel is prime location. The building is clearly an old office building converted into a hotel. Walking back at 12 - 1 am, the streets around the hotel were deserted. However, during the day, its location is next to State St. with shops such as Loehmans, Nordstroms Rack, Aldo, and Forever 21. The Central Loop hotel is also conveniently located three blocks from the Jackson St. Red Line. Amenities and Customer Service: They offer complementary, unlimited bottled water. That is the extent to their wow in amenities. The TV is not in the bedroom, but in the living room area tilted towards the TV. The room is large in comparison to typical hotel rooms, but is clearly shaped like an old business office. As to room service, I called at 11:02 a.m., and they did not cater to my request as room service ended at 11 a.m. . Experience: Horrible!!!!! Our room was not equipped with washcloths, lotion, enough blankets, or enough pillows. When I called to ask for lotion, they brought two minuscule bottles - one of which was clearly used and had a hair on the rim. On our second night, we returned to our room to a mysterious reek. It smelled like sewage - feces - horribly, disgustingly terrible. Although the cleaning staff was friendly, inability to switch rooms and sleeping in a room full of sewage feces is disgusting and far from anything I would recommend to future guests of the Central Loop Hotel! read more

I stayed at the central loop hotel this past weekend, and was very disappointed! The bathroom in the room had a horrible odor (urine odor), yellow stains and hair stuck onto the wall. There were dust spots throughout the room and crumbs in the plastic wrap of the remote control. Wouldn't book here again. read more

Great hotel and walkable distance from the amtrak station and major tourist attractions. Purified water was a BONUS! Must stay hotel when your in Chicago read more

This is a basic hotel with some nice touches. The size of the rooms are fine for a single person on a business trip. It would feel cramped if you were travelling with a family, 'though. The free wi-fi works well. The bed feels comfortable, the room was clean, and the staff were very polite. My room did not have a refrigerator, safe or iron. I didn't need them, but thought that I'd mention it in case someone does. My one grip is that the walls were a bit thin. I could hear their music during the night and conversations in the hallway. It wasn't so bad because they went to sleep before I did, but it could potentially be a serious issue. read more

Stayed here for one night. The location is just perfect even though the room is considered on the small side. The staffs are very helpful and friendly. Will be back in the future. read more

Better than expected. Not the quietest, nor the largest. But smartly designed and conveniently located. Gym and louge are fine. Computers and printers are freely available downstairs. Being renovated. Took a while to check in. But satisfied. read more

Having never stayed in downtown Chicago, my husband and I had no idea what to expect. We lucked out--the Central Loop Hotel put us right in the middle of everything, and was perfect for us. From the friendly front desk staff to the small but immaculate room to the two large lounges (with free snacks and drinks) to the great toiletries, we had everything we needed and more. On top of being a beautiful and very comfortable hotel, Central Loop is also great because of its location--right in the heart of downtown Chicago. We found our way there from the airport via Metro very easily, and it was great to be just a few blocks from the main Metro hub. Easy walking distance to the Art Institute, Millennium Park, Grant Park, etc., and very close to several fun pubs, restaurants, theaters, and shops. An added bonus--the pub/restaurant right in the hotel is terrific. Full service bar with great beer and cocktail selection, really good food, and reasonable prices. We would definitely come here again! read more

I got a great priceline deal only $150 a night including all taxes, that's not bad for Chicago. Its am amazing location right downtown where everything is happening. The staff were so friendly our rooms a little warm they helped cool it down and even provided a fan. Prompt service and didn't wait at the door for a tip, we would have given one but he was gone in a flash. Yes the rooms and tvs are small like the other reviews say but nothing dramatic. We stayed at one hotel years ago in chicago that the bathroom for would not even open all the way, this is nothing like that. I am not disappointed! read more

My experience was extremely poor. The tiny rooms and bathrooms are smaller than those on a cruise ship. The walls are extremely thin and I was woken up each night by someone banging on pipes. I called housekeeping for an iron and had to walk to a "Floor Guest Supply Closet" in my PJs to obtain it. I paid $161 per night and others in my training paid $130 for the Residence Inn with huge rooms, a full kitchen and free breakfast. read more

I had a great stay at Central Loop! Our room was clean, and although it was small, it was efficient. We stayed in the smallest room size, which just had a bed, a desk, and a night stand. The drawers of the desk rolled out to be another small table, which was a nice feature. The bathroom was small, and it was pretty much impossible to take a shower without getting water all over the place. For the price, though, it was great. Lots and lots of outlets and places to charge devices. Plus free wifi! You needed to have a room key to use the elevator, which was nice for security. The service was excellent, too. We were able to check in early (at around 11am), and they stored our luggage after check-out. We realized that we left our tickets in our room (hours after leaving), and they were helpful with letting us use the business center to reprint them. read more

Alrighty, here we go: Pros: As a thirsty person, the free water bottles in the hallways were awesome! I had a party here and everyone agreed that this was a pretty cool feature. It was a very cheap hotel room! Got a deal on Groupon, super easy. The bed was pretty comfy as was the pull out. Very convenient location! Super easy for all of my guests to find and it's a really nice location downtown with a 7/11 across the street. Cons: Super small room! But, I guess that is what I paid for, so I can't complain toooo much. Very easy to hear what's going on outside your room! I honestly feel pretty bad for everyone on the floor I was staying on because admittedly, it was pretty easy to tell we were turning up in there. Sorry all! Not a great hotel for partying, I'd recommend the intercontinental instead. The windows dont open! Tiny TV. It was super hard to play mario kart multiplayer. Extras: The decor is okay. You need a hotel key card to go up the elevator. Good safety precaution but very suspicious for parties! Good hotel for those of you who just want a place to sleep when you're visiting, not for much else. read more

Pull out "couch" turned out to be a chair, hotel was dated, bathroom was not like the photos, shower was small and outdated, overall wouldn't call this a 4 star hotel, more of a 3 star. Also, their security hold on my card was an issue because 1. Was told there was no charge, 2. Was $170 so it was immediately taken from my credit card. They should be more upfront about this policy. read more

Stayed here on a business trip. Good location. The front desk was nice and I loved the free espresso machine and snacks in the basement. My room was huge but had a tiny sliver of a window so it made the room look very dark and dreary. The bed was fine, but the pipes made noises throughout the night so I didn't sleep well. Might stay here again because of the price and free espresso, but in a different room. read more

I visit Chicago about 4 times a year with my husband to visit friends and family. We try to make it a mini vacation by getting a hotel for the weekend. Summary - We have tried a few hotels in the city and Central Loop is overall average. It's convenient with small perks, but customer service wasn't the best (actually non-existent) and rooms were "ok". Pros -Location is right by the red and blue line and many buses. However, the loop area is primarily offices so it's empty after work hours. But easy to get to places. -It's above a restaurant/bar that is opened late for those late night snacks and drinks. -Water and water bottles are free, which is a nice add -Price is reasonable, but I'm sure it fluctuates by season Cons (which explains a 1 more ding from an average score) -CQ Hotels app for early check-in and other amenities did not work. I downloaded it, registered, and it kept freezing. I mentioned it to the front desk without much feedback. -Chicago is DRY in the winters. The hotel had a amenity sheet in each room with available humidifiers. The first leaked water. When returned, they were out of humidifiers. I called the front day 4 times and never received anything back from the front desk after they said they would "check on it". I even also went down to ask, and they said they would check...and received no detail of status. After just 3 days, I gave up on asking. -The smart tvs freeze a lot. We even changed rooms and it was the same. -Our second room only had 2 pillows and 2 towels (our first had 4 pillows and full towel set). It looked like housekeeping didn't finish their job. read more

I came across this hotel on Expedia and loved the reviews I read but as soon as my boyfriend and I got there, we could not wait to leave. The check in process was quick and easy and they had complimentary snacks. The location was great, everything was a good walking distance. They also had complimentary water bottles to fill up with water as soon as you exit the elevator. Now, as soon as we arrived to the room, it was incredibly small and the bathroom was as well but we did not mind. Now, what was probably one was the worst features was the bed. The next day we felt that there was something wrong with the bed, as soon as we lifted the bedsheets, it was not a queen sized bed, in fact it was two TWIN size beds with a zipper in the middle. And the bedsheets were just a sheet on top of the mattress, to top it off the bed was hard as a rock. Will not be staying here again! read more

BED BUGS Woke with large rows of bites on my face and chest. I reported the bites to hotel staff and requested to change rooms. Staff "inspected the bed" (lifted up the sheets on one corner), and said it couldn't possibly be bed bugs. They insisted it was a spider bite (they don't bite you 20 times!) or an allergic reaction (I don't have any allergies and have never had a reaction). I changed rooms but woke up the next morning with more bites on my face and hands. read more

"UNIMPRESSED" would be the summation of the weekend. It is an older hotel that is looking to impress with its technology. Unfortunately no of the said technology worked. They start with the check-in kiosk that could not find the reservation. Once we got our key we moved to the cramped quarters...which was not unexpected. However, from this point we found the television did not work. Maintenance came and could not fix it. We were told they would move us, but it never happened. The next day the tv was fixed, but had no sound. The fitness center was closed while we were their. The weekend was capped off with the guests service people insist I use the kiosk to check out even though it didn't work. Once an employee unsuccessfully used the kiosk they finally agreed to check me out at the desk. read more

It's a shame that $220 including tax is a steal in Chicago. Given this *low* price, you really get what you pay for. The room was so tiny that I wouldn't have wanted to stay there more than one night. The bathroom is barely big enough for one person. You can't pull up and unload your luggage for long as you have to actually stop on the street to do so. Self-parking is $22 a few blocks away. The irons are located in central closets down the hall. This is a very bare bones hotel. Good for one night, but not for longer. read more

In-room air conditioning doesn't work, windows don't open, and the building-wide heat is on, so expect your room to be warmer than you can fall asleep in. Clean, reasonably priced, great location Service was great! There was a guy working at the front desk when we came in on Friday night, and he was really nice. I stayed 3 nights at The Loop Club Quarters from jan11 to 14. I left my luggage in the storage the day I was leaving because my transportation would be only at night and I wanted to enjoy my last day in the city. I put the lock in the bag, as usual, and I left it at the storage until 9/10pm. When I got my bag back, the lock was missing, but I only realized it after my Lyft ride and I had no time to complain to the hotel about it. I did not have any valuable item in my luggage, only clothes... so I did not realize any missing item there. But anyway, I am 100% sure I locked the bag and the lock disappeared in the storage room. read more

Clean, well-furnished room with plenty of towels, a nice bed, and reliable wireless Internet. I have no real complaints, except for the hotel restaurant, which is terrible. Excellent location, close to major government buildings, business institutions, and the train station (three or four blocks down Adams). I've seen some commenters complain about the size of the rooms. I disagree - I'm there to sleep, not play indoor field hockey. My room was somewhat noisy in the early morning hours, but I think that had more to do with my neighbors than the room itself. read more

Woo! I loved this little place. And I do mean LITTLE! It's like living in a cute college dorm. But for the price the location and the hotel were great! Plus there's a great restaurant/bar downstairs that stayed open until 11pm. The Elephant & Castle was very fun and lively and the food was good (prices were average for a dine-in restaurant). This hotel is in a great area of the city; walking distance to many things. The rooms were decorated nice and very clean. Nice lounge downstairs. They also have a quirky recycled water system in the halls. Grab a bottle and fill up. Cute! No complaints. I loved it.
