As far as hotels go, this hotel was just fine!! Not as nice as I thought it would be for the price. Our room didn't have the greatest view, but it was fine! It was a small room. The bed wasn't the most comfortable. And you had to request for them to come switch the sheets, which was annoying. Outside of that, the location was good for what we wanted to do in Chicago. read more

We had a awesome stay at the hotel. From booking the hotel on Booking, the hotel staff responds on the app was quick and helpful. At arrival, we got to check in to our hotel early and the front desk staff Petro was friendly and helpful. You can get discounted $30/24hrs parking during your stay. Even though they were super busy during holiday season, he was patient and throughly about the parking explained clearly. We got a super nice view and my son didn't want to leave. The TV didn't have the best connection though but didn't really affect our love for this hotel. I left my phone holder in the room and this is the first hotel that manage to find the staff I left behind. The best of all, the price was so affordable compared to the other hotels in this area. It is right downtown. You can go to many places on foot. Highly recommended! read more

This place is awful. People were nice so no shade on them, but that building's most certainly got mold all throughout its walls. I was a mess with allergies, eye itching and lung pain because they just don't dust or clean this place. Visit in 2025 1 of the 2 elevators was not working and people were "stuck" on floors waiting for an exceptionally long time for an operator to "bring" the elevator to their floors. The coffee machine which I look forward to was not working properly/regularly. The air conditioning in the gym was also not working properly. There are reusable bottles available with a water refill station on each floor which is a plus. The room was clean but small. Check in and check out was quick. The parking garage is a few blocks away in a covered structure. The property location is ideal for tourists. read more

We found a bed bug crawling on our bag the day we were leaving. The front desk associated was very nonchalant about it, and said they would have to call in an expert to determine what type of bug it was. I emailed them the attached picture and never heard back from anyone. I'm not an entomologist, but this little red guy looks like a bed bug to me. Judge for yourself. They offered to 'heat treat' our bags, which would have required us coming back into the city later that day at the cost of $50/each way, and completely screw up our vacation plans. Booked a queen with river view for 3 nights. They put me on the 17th floor. Checked in with the Kiosk and help from staff. Pros: -water heats up quickly -clean -nice river view -friendly staff -very central location -free coffee and filtered water -they hold your luggage for free Cons: -mixed up my accommodation so I stayed at a downgraded room for a night before they moved me to the correct room. Cute rooms and great location but they should put on their website and everywhere that there are only two elevators that go up for different sections of the hotel AND ONLY ONE WORKS, So if you're staying in the 30th floor, good fucking luck. Either wait half an hour for the one elevator to come get you, or go up and down some steep as stairs. I feel like they are occulting this information to the public to not lose money. Club Quarters (CQ) Hotel, AKA River Hotel is located on E. Wacker Dr. near N. Wabash Ave. on the Loop in Downtown, literally across the beautiful Chicago River. The location is perfect! Short walking distance to everything such as the Riverwalk, Millennium Park, Willis Tower, and so many eateries. We stayed here one week and our stay was a pleasant one. The front desk was efficient. The housekeeping service was very prompt when I called, they responded quickly. We stayed on their 29th flr, which made it difficult to get the elevator during check-in/out times every day (so we gave ourselves extra time when leaving during those hrs). There's 2 elevators depending on which floor you stay on (so make sure to get on the correct elevator for your floor). We selected their 'Superior Queen Room', which had a beautiful view of the city, a work desk, a closet with ironing board, bathroom amenities, hair dryer, microwave, and minifridge. The room was on the smaller side, but it had everything we needed. On their 2nd flr, there's an 'Espresso' machine providing complimentary coffee 24/7 for their guests! Also, a living room set-up with plenty of seating and business center with a full sized conference room. They have complimentary water bottles so that you fill them up at the purified stations on floors 11-24. I really liked this because I didn't have to buy my own water. Overall, we had a relaxing and positive experience at this hotel and will definitely stay here again when visiting Chicago. read more

Fantastic location, close to everything. If you are visiting Chicago that is a positive because you won't be spending much time in your room. Rooms are very small, the size of a cabin on a cruise ship . Bathrooms not luxurious considering the neighborhood. They do give you full size complimentary shampoo and conditioner. You will wait long periods for elevators, many times opening completely full. Television volume goes in and out even after asking for service it still was inoperable, finally the volume went off completely. Beds were not comfortable nor roomy. Staff was nice and location was phenomenal. I guess I felt given the upscale area , I expected more. read more

One of two elevators were down leaving 1 elevator for 41 floors of patrons. It easily took 20 minutes to get down to the lobby in an attempt to leave the hotel and only slightly shorter to get up to our room. The elevator was often over the recommended weight limit due to the number of patrons attempting to get down. It was incredibly unsafe and uncomfortable. Management was aware of the issue and did not seem to care nor did they attempt to remedy the situation. There were no technicians or individuals working on the elevator or even attempting to better the situation. As if the elevator situation wasn't bad enough, the hotel's TV service was glitching. The cable channels skipped and the streaming service didn't always works. For a destination attempting to market themselves on relaxation and leisure... they failed miserably. The rooms were small and the bathroom was even smaller. Stay elsewhere! read more

I paid a lot of money to stay at this hotel, which advertises itself as a full service property. I am disabled. They don't even have valet parking. The front desk woman, an older sarcastic African American woman who rolled her eyes and was very rude, couldn't even help me find a place to park. I found another hotel that actually works with people and did not get a refund from this shit hole, which does not serve or accommodate disabled persons. Do not stay here. read more

LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION. This is a great location, with a great view of the river. Great neighborhood. Easy to walk to transit and other famous Chicago sites. Just stayed here for one night, got there at 6:30am ( Couldnt check in, which was obvious but why not ask offered to pay as well) We checked our bags and came back around 5 hours later, staff seems a little overwhelmed there. Just having normal conversation with them seemed like they were being rushed. I am not sure if this is just a Mid West thing.... Rooms were small but we know this going in. There were stains on the carpet and marks on the walls. Again didn't bother us as we were barely there. Just didnt walk around barefoot LOL. Elevators were crazy, tried to go out on the town after getting settle in our room and we waited for 20 mins trying to get down. All full. We ended up going down 14 flights of stairs. Next thing you know, we get a notification that an elevator is down. Trying to leave the next day was interesting, a employee was in the elevator manually overriding the elevator. We thought we were going to get stuck for sure. Take what you want with this. read more

The bed was good, comforter and sheets were soft, and the pillows were better than at most places. You can login to Netflix. Water pressure was good and I like having a shower wand. This hotel is great for basic needs. I stayed for a week while at a conference. Pros: -free laundry with detergent! There are two sets, on various floors. One of which is accessed through the 1-10 floor elevators. -wine happy hour at 5pm mon-thur with snacks and sodas -location, location, location. Yes, it is across from the trump tower but the cheaper rooms don't look at it. I was able to walk to all my events downtown. Cons: -the rooms are not very soundproof. You can hear other guests. -The comforters don't have the white duvet covers that have become ubiquitous in hotels on the past few years, so it's hard to know if it's been changed, though I never felt that it was dirty. I would likely stay here again. The service and location is great. I really enjoyed walking around this area and it was super easy to get Uber's to other areas of the city at any time. read more

My husband and I just spent 4 nights here on our mini vacation to Chicago and had a great stay. It's not a luxurious hotel by any means (rooms are very basic-looking and no-frills), but it's comfortable, convenient, and the service is excellent. On arrival, they had no problem checking us in early, and the process to get our keys was very quick. Inside, the room was clean, very well air-conditioned, and everything was well-thought-out. I appreciated the extra counter space in the bathroom and all the charging ports and outlets everywhere in the room. The TV was placed in a good location across from the bed and had all the channels we needed. The bed itself was pretty comfortable for me, as I like soft beds, but my husband took a day to adapt before he too admitted the bed was fine. I really liked that the pillows had some bulk to them and didn't just sink when you rested your head on them. We slept very comfortably! On every floor, there were water dispensers and empty water bottles to fill up as needed, which was very convenient. Even though we were on the 20th floor, the elevators were very fast and we rarely had to wait more than a few seconds for an elevator. Service was great! When our TV remote stopped working, we called down and someone came up within 5 minutes to fix it. Checkout was just as easy, and the receptionist was so pleasant and cheerful. If you're in a hurry, they have an option where you can check out online and just deposit your keycard in a bin. The location is the best part, and we were within easy walking distance to the museums and Millennium Park. We were steps away from the Riverwalk which was fun at night. It's a good location if you're new to the city and want to get around quickly. Considering all of the above, the price is a good value. While we probably won't stay in the Loop again (just not our scene), we would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a downtown hotel. read more

I write this in the hotel bed as I haven't been able to shower for 2 1/2 days. If I could give zero stars I would. I went to the front desk to ask for housekeeping since it needs to be requested. The lady said they would do express service(new towels and empty garbage) and they would do full service for the following morning.NO ONE EVER CAME! I never received new towels so my husband and I can't shower and the trash is piled up. So I called the front desk to complain and I'm sitting here still waiting for towels I should've had 2 days ago, still sleeping on the same bedsheets from check in. As with most all things It's location, location Corner rooms are tight Club Quarters is smack dab in the middle of the nexus of Chicago. Kind of a value pick for the neighborhood it is in. Directly across the street from the Chicago River and another really tall hotel directly across the river and just off of Michigan Avenue. Check-in was a little slow but I had the misfortune of getting behind a huge group of women who were splitting up the bills on various different credit cards. The front desk staff was super friendly and apologetic for the wait. One of the main complaints I saw about this Club Quarters location is that the rooms were very small. At check in, I was given the option of upgrading to a corner room suite for an extra thirty bucks a night. I would say it was worth every penny. Large sitting room area with large flat screen TV and bed in the corner of the building with windows on two sides. Unfortunately, I did not get a great view. No view of the river. Oh well, the bed was super comfy. It was a serious struggle to get up in the morning and not just from the shenanigans the night before. Minor gripe - elevators are slow and crowded and only a couple of them. Old building. Not much to be done about it. Would gladly stay here again! read more

Location at this hotel is fantastic. Easy walk to just about anywhere that you'd want to see, and if it's a little too far, it's not a far Uber ride. I'm still a little confused as to how the two hotels in one work, because I know we reserved at "The River Hotel", and our room was "Club Quarters". Not sure if they're identical, or if we got a lesser version of what I thought we were getting, but it was pretty tight. I get that it's a city hotel...just not quite what I expecting. But it was slightly less than some other nearby places, easy to walk places, and we were able to get decent parking about a five-minute walk away, so that was a plus, too. read more

My wife and I stayed at the Club Quarters Hotel for four days. It's located in the middle of downtown across the street from the Riverwalk and accessible to everything. The hotel itself is a well maintained, classy, older building with terrific views. They had some nice amenities including workout facilities and free reusable water bottles and a purified water station (presumably on every floor) to fill up your water for free. I've seen reviews the rooms were not big enough; I didn't find that to be the case. They were clean and comfortable with a king sized bed and a loveseat that folded out to the second bed if necessary. The staff was super friendly and took time to answer any questions I had. All in all, staying there was a really good experience. I would definitely stay there again. read more

While their rooms are great. I have stayed with this location years ago and same.. rooms are great but in 2025 their front desk service / billing has changed. I stayed with them for 4 days extended stay same room. My advice for anyone reading this its best to book through any third party that you find cheaper rates and choose the option to pay now. Do not choose the option to pay at the property like i did because you will have the worst nightmare. They are conducting bad business with guests money. They have charged my card more than one time then only refunded me one of the charges back. Claiming they dont see on their side where they have charged me more than once etc.. when i have the proof on my bank transactions. Also its best to give them the incidental deposit in cash even with that they took my incidental on one of my stays claiming when they tried to collect the room rate & taxes from my card it declined when that were a huge lie they just found a reason to take my deposit. However the deposit issue didnt happen again so i still think its best to pay the deposit in cash when they mention the deposit to you. read more

Stayed here for two nights this week while in Chicago for business. I did have a good view but also did pay to see the River. The bed was pretty stiff. I only got two pillows and both weren't great. I turned the AC down to 62. The first night I woke up sweating when it was 70. I then turned it down to 59. By the time I left yesterday morning it was finally at 64. It took two days for that small room. Another issue. When any of my neighbors in the hotel room shut their door. You almost felt like they slammed your door. Not only was it loud but my door rattled every time. And lastly. As I said I was there in business. I went to grab the iron before going into the office. Opened the closet door. No iron. No ironing board. Had to go the old fashion route and waste some water by steaming the shower so much I could get some wrinkles out. read more

I stayed at this hotel for a night. At the time their valet was temporarily closed, but I was connected to a different overnight parking option that was super close by and cheaper than any valet would have been. Check-in was at 3 pm. I used the kiosk Check-In system which contributed to the smooth, efficient check-in with no waiting. The hotel and the room itself are very well-maintained and clean. There are plenty of spaces in the lobby area for sitting and lounging. Furthermore, they had some nice amenities like free reusable water bottles and the 2nd floor had computers, coffee machines, and more sitting areas. I was delighted to get the river view because I was not expecting it since I did not request it. The room was a bit on the smaller side compared to other comparable hotels, but I liked how cozy it felt. The bathroom was very clean, but the water pressure of my particular shower was very low. The location of this hotel is everything; it is practically located in the center of the loop and public transportation is easily accessible. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is visiting the city! Also, a special shoutout to Ronnie! I needed help with my luggage when checking out and Ronnie was so chipper and nice! Besides Ronnie, all the other front-desk staffs were very friendly and helpful with any questions that I had during my stay. read more

We stayed here because it was one of the few affordable options on pride fest weekend. The elevators were not working. We had to phone call lobby to call the elevatorto our floor. Water stations out of service, had to go down 4 floors to have water. Nightstand and power outlet only on one side of the bed. We asked for a rollout bed, you think it would come with a blanket and pillow... no, we had to ask for that too. Other than that it's a hotel room like another. The hotel was perfectly located to everything. We rented bikes and never needed a car. The view was stunning. The staff was friendly and welcoming no matter who was on duty. Was pretty clean and they have security. The hotel has an older feel to it compared to the neighbors. I had read in other reviews that the rooms were tiny.... it was tiny!!! 2 people and 3 suitcases were stuffed into a closet size room. We had a small queen room... emphasis on small. The hotel DOES NOT have a fridge or microwave which made taking my leftovers back to the room impossible. I got my bill and found a $53/night parking charge. We didn't even have a car, so I had to call the hotel and get it corrected. So make sure to read your itemized bill. The outlets were oddly place... next to the toilet, behind a chair, on the desk. I couldn't have my phone next to the bed when it was charging. The light on one side of the bed kept flickering so we only had one light in the room. Only 2 pillows on a queen size bed. Overall, I'd stay there again, just get a bigger room. read more

Club Quarters Wacker At Michigan I have stayed at Club Quarters at Wacker 3 times over the last couple of years for girls' trips.  This is one of those hidden gems that is underappreciated. I have had the privilege of staying at the top of the building, a lower floor room and suite. I cannot remember, but there is some difference of name or choice when you are making a reservation to getting a top floor.  However, when I stayed on the top floor there were some stairs that some of the other people on those floors had to use.  Just in case that is an issue. The entrance is beautiful and historic both inside and outside.  They do not offer valet parking but there is parking nearby - I used the Spot Hero App - (from their website: Get 10% off  Your First Reservation SpotHero helps you find and book parking right from your mobile phone or computer. What I also loved about this hotel is that they have secure elevators - you need your key to access your floors and they had a great front desk staff that was very friendly.  We chose this hotel because of the price and the location and just a place to stay because its a Girls Weekend not a family trip!  The first time we booked it I was nervous but we were so surprised! The rooms are small like European rooms, and they have double beds so my friend and I had to cozy up but that wasn't a big deal.  The bathrooms are small but they were cleaner than the Palmer Hotel (which was twice as much!). We forgot a wine opener for the wine we toted to the hotel - well actually we were booked in a room that was facing the giant Trump sign so we had to have our room changed.  When we switched room we lost our wine opener in that process but they sent someone up after we tried all the Youtube and BuzzFeed hacks to open wine without a wine opener. They also have these refill stations on each floor to refill your own water bottle with filtered water - or you can use one of their water bottles! The one time I stayed there I got an upper floor room but I am not sure how you book those rooms - there is some different in the name in which you book those rooms under - like Wacker on Michigan or Club Quarters or something - I do not recall.  But the top floor rooms are amazing and the same cost. If you are just looking for a very affordable option that is clean, safe and close to everything this is a great pick! read more

When I booked the hotel on booking.com. I didn't realize that a standard room would not come with a fridge. When we arrived, Ronnie checked us in. Let me just say, he is meant for customer service!! He accommodated us by upgrading our room so we could have a fridge, last minute, when the hotel was booked full. Not only that, he had a positive, bubbly attitude and gave us a lot of good suggestions for food/ night life. Hope to see Ronnie again on our next stay!! read more

If I could select a Zero review I would!! The hotel is very run down. Their is only one elevator and that is constantly going down. Their are multiple water leaks. Their is NO lobby security! The front desk does not face the front door Beware!!! Their computer system does not work and I have been waiting over 15 days for a receipt!!! I had a pleasant stay here -- booked it through hotels.com for the River Hotel but actually had my room on the Club Quarters side. I asked for an early check-in and they gave me a room on the CQ side. I also only had initially booked a 1-night stay but was able to extend it for another 2 nights (again, booking through hotels.com). STAFF: They were friendly and helpful with both my early check-in and extension. I also like that there is a computer for quick check-in and check-out. AMENITIES: I love the water bottle station in front of the elevators as well as the light refreshments on the 2nd floor. Since I had to unexpectedly stay 2 additional nights, the free laundry room (with soap available) was a God-send. ROOM: It's small but cozy. Small fridge came handy when I bought some snacks and drinks from Target nearby for late night munchies. LOCATION: Aside from its neighbor across the Chicago River, it is ideally situated within walking distance from Chicago landmarks, shopping (including Target), eateries (from steakhouses to cafes). It's a nice place to stay in the Mag Mile with plenty of places to explore nearby. read more

Let me caveat this by saying this is a fine place to stay if you're traveling and looking for a lower budget place (at least, it seems low budget, but I'm not sure if that's the case). I was a little grossed out when I entered my room and immediately saw what looked like a jizz stain on the comforter. To my horror, when I pulled down the sheets, there was someone's long hair and what looked like another short hair. I'm hoping it was just from the cleaning people, but the sheets didn't smell as fresh as I would expect, so I don't know. But the stain really threw me off and was just a little gross. I know people do all kinds of nasty in hotels.. but I don't want to see it. Overall, the staff at the front desk was friendly and noise was not an issue. I just question the cleanliness! read more

Not the worst hotel i've stayed in but it could definitely use improvements. The main issue is if you get a room from floors 26 up, you don't get a fridge or a microwave which seems really stupid, there was plenty of space in the room for a fridge and a microwave. Another problem is the elevators, the elevators are extremely slow and there is only 2 of them but 1 of them was broken so we had to wait about 10 minutes for an elevator to get to our floor. Thankfully everything was pretty clean, definitely not a bad hotel to stay in for just a night or 2 but just don't expect everything to be perfect. The Club Quarters are known for there locations. They are also known for there small rooms. When you stay at one you should expect that. Perfect because who needs a big room when you are so close to it all? This location is located in the heart of downtown Chicago. Close to many restaurants and attractions. All within walking distance. This location is right on the river. Which has an amazing view and great for a run or walk. The staff was very friendly and offered help finding the area with attractions. They also helped me choose between the three big Chicago pizza spots. Everyone of these locations was within a few blocks. I look forward to going back and staying at this location. Has what I need and in the perfect location. You can't ask for anything more. read more
