Great hotel located in the heart of downtown Chicago theater district. Great staff. Modern decor. Comfortable and Clean rooms. 2 restaurants on site....State and Lake Tavern and the Roof Bar along with conference facilities, gym and full spa. A little pricier than other options but well worth it. read more

While the room was fine. Everything else I booked this hotel for was not. Rooftop is a clusyer to get up to, if you can get up there. I was told it closes at 11p the first night, and turns into a club Friday and Saturday and closes later. So to my surprise, the first night I tried to to go up at 10:15, I couldn't because they cut elevator access off at 10pm. 2nd night, I couldn't get into the other area because of a private event. The final night at 9pm, I tried again and was told told they dont open to the public until 9:30p or 10p. WHAT?! According to the website its open on Saturdays 11am to 2am. No break. My first night when I couldn't get up to the roof, I tried the restaurant downstairs. Also closes at 11pm. 10:20, hostess says they just called last call. I said cool I can order a drink. She said no they just called last call. I went back and forth with her and gave up and checked with the desk and they said they close at 10:30p. Then someone else said they close at 11:00pm but will call last call at 10:30 to help with the kitchen. and then confirmed, well they closed a little early that night. If you're thinking you'll get rooftop access or anything here. Look elsewhere. read more

This was a wonderful find. We enjoyed a corner table by the fireplace, high top with a peekaboo view of the river. Beautiful Floor to ceiling windows. They've got a great appetizer and wine list for you to choose from the music was perfect. The service was great. We had such a wonderful time, sitting, watching people watching the city Gorgeous space. Great for couples or families and private events. read more

Went for their rooftop party. It was a whole thing. VIP line we paid for, all the things. Found out later, they were not letting people in after a certain time because it was packed. Get the VIP entry, don't go too late. The rooftop view was nice. Party was live. People dancing and having a good time. They have a brick pizza oven with a chef just making pizzas to order. The pizza was sooooo good. I'm not big on pizza, but it's Chicago. If I am eating pizza, I love a good pizza crust. Theirs was fluffy and perfect. They had so many specialty pizzas to choose from, I couldn't decide. But they all looked good. I had the lobster tacos as well. Those were really good and fresh. Really glad we went to this day party. I don't party in my own city, but I'll party on vacation, and it was a good time. read more

So theWit was just okay. Customer service was great however they lack other basic room needs such as a microwave. When you're staying for more than just 2 days which was us you will have leftovers and it is very discouraging eating them cold due to no microwave being in the room and/or having one available to use in the lobby. There is also no iron in the room just a clothes steamer. Which actually wasn't a total bust because that ended up being how we were able to reheat (barely) some of our leftovers out of the fridge. FYI: At night the roof top turns into a club and the lobby and elevators because very busy as one could imagine full of people who are not actually guests of the hotel but there for the club on the rooftop. It gets very busy in the lobby at night. Think a lot of organized confusion. Again, the hotel itself is clean and in a very prime location close to the Riverwalk and Chicago Theater. But with basic room necessities missing and the busy night club aspect at night you could potentially find better around the area that offers more and is quieter. If none of what I mentioned bothers you then theWit would be a great fit for you possibly. read more

Stayed here over the weekend and had a pleasant experience. The rooms are decently big with a modern interior decor. There was no closet but instead a large wardrobe. Room came with a mini fridge which was nice. Had a river view which also added a nice touch. The bed was comfy and room was clean. The rooftop bar was closed one of the nights for a wedding. There is currently construction happening right outside which causes for a good amount of traffic and uber had to go a round about way to get there but never had issue getting picked up or difficulty finding them. read more

My wife and I enjoyed 2 nights at theWit. The room was very spacious and maybe the largest hotel bathroom we have ever had and the 2 large windows made it even better. The location was a block from the river walk and to our stop for the Hop On Hop Off bus. The staff was attentive and made you feel welcome. Our breakfast was very good and offered a diverse menu. I would strongly recommend this hotel and the only complaint was the $85 per day for parking. read more

Located in the theater district in downtown Chicago, the Wit is a great place to stay for dining entertainment and exploring the Loop. From the O'Hara airport I took the blue line train to downtown getting off at Clark/Lake St station. From there The Wit was a quick 10 minute walk. My room offered sn amazing viewing of the skyscrapers and glimpse of the river. My room was quiet at night even with the "L" train rumbling below. The hotel has an amazing rooftop bar offering a great view to the South and West loop. Drink and food prices were average for a downtown establishment ranging from $10 for beers and $20 for cocktails. There is another restaurant and bar located on the ground floor level also offering elevated pub food in a dimly lit atmosphere. Drink prices were similar to the rooftop ranging from $10-20. In the morning coffee and tea is located in the lobby for hotel guests. Overall I had a brief but nice stay at The Wit, and look forward to staying again in the future. Enjoy!!! read more

Very clean, high quality furniture along with very helpful and friendly staff. Great views of the city from the top floor bar.

Modern, trendy boutique hotel that is in a great location for exploring the city on foot or going to the Chicago theater for a show. Great customer service, and there is a rooftop bar that serves good drinks. Would stay here again for the location and clean rooms. read more

Pretty dismal experience. Theme of our stay was LATE. Arrived at 4:00 on the dot for checkin. However we had to sit in the lobby for 20 minutes because our room was not ready. So we sat there watching dozens of people get metal detected before going to the rooftop. So we were LATE to where we needed to go. Ordered $100 of room service. It was LATE so I called to cancel. Lady on the phone was rude, told me no and hung up on me mid sentence. I wasn't able to eat my share because well, it was LATE. Wife said her food simply wasn't good regardless. Something as simple as butter and jelly for the toast wasn't provided. Arrived back between meetings. Stood out front and in the lobby for over 15 minutes to try and give my keys to the valet attendant. No one was anywhere to be found. Wouldn't answer calls from the front desk. They finally took my keys then some dude chased me down saying they can't keep them and I have to keep waiting. Oh this made me LATE to my next meeting. $89 a day for poor performance was not worth it. I would 100% suggest parking yourself or a block over at London house. They always have 4+ attendants. Help with luggage and doors etc. oh and it's CHEAPER. We appreciated the room upgrade. The room itself was okay. It wouldn't get below 71 degrees and got upwards of 76 degrees during the day. Even with the shades closed. For as much as we spent, I would expect a lot more. Rooms were fine, but the service, in all aspects was not. read more

I was so disappointed in this hotel. This was out of our normal price range but I thought the location was wonderful and it is. The other disappointments were just too much. The expensive charge for the Val-let 86.00 I was told I'd be text them my room was ready. I was never text I just couldn't wait any long and came to the front desk to ask. One of the reasons I booked the hotel was for the roof top. We were told it was a private event ALL night. We were given many mixed directions. I felt they just didn't want US!!! Eventually after much complaining they let us up and again I don't think they wanted us. Many of the staff were not just unfriendly but almost rude. I did appreciate Erik from the Vallet. He was professional and welcoming. No coffee in the morning. It rang out and they were not going to refill it. The room was average. It was very overpriced for the service and amenities it did NOT provide. Don't stay here we noticed a lot more hotels that looked more accommodating read more

I truly enjoyed my stay here(room 2504). It was my birthday week, and Prince truly made it special. I want to emphasize that Prince is an asset to the property! His warm demeanor made me overlook the cons I faced. I was also able to meet the manager Lidiya, who also left a great impression. I can not say the same about the night auditors.. they def need a hospitality refresher because they were dead and rude. No personality besides the attitude and very dismissive. On the 14th a bald-headed black man and a heavy-set black woman who did not care to acknowledge my questions or conversation. Not only did I feel like I was talking to a brick wall but also that I was bothering their screen time. The other black lady who worked by herself on the 15th of Jan did not want to help me so much, she told the bellmen/valet guys to help me when I left my phone in my uber... I asked to use the front desk, and she told me, "to go over there"... I'm truly disgusted by the older women in Chicago but esp disgusted that Hilton hired these 3 people to represent their brand. Maybe it's my fault for thinking I was going to get southern hospitality. Anyway, If I was HR or the FOM, I would look into them. Restaurant is comfortable, clean, and spacious. They have a bfast, lunch, and dinner menu. Menu is decent. I loved that they had a different soup every day. Didn't try anything besides the lobster one and i loveeeed it. The ribs I bought... can't say the same for that. The slaw that came with is was also disgusting. I wouldn't call that slaw. Loveeed the peach on a platform. I seriously got that every day!!! Servers and the same host I seen every time I went to were sweethearts. I do wish I was able to dine at the rooftop but I wasn't there for the weekend. The small glimpse I did see was beautiful! Location is honestly perfect. Right next to walgreens, 7/11, Ross, Chic-fil-a, Giordan, a plaza that has many stores like nordstom, zara, Aritzia. AND LESS THAN A 4 min WALK FROM THE TRAIN STATION!!!! I'll def be back! read more

theWit Chicago is an exceptionally nice Hilton branded hotel located right in the middle of everything in Chicago. We were able to walk to nearly all of the downtown attractions. The staff was very quick and friendly to handle any issues not that there was many.. The inside decor is absolutely gorgeous as well as the decor in the rooms. For me a nice long, warm shower is always appreciated at the end of the day and not once did I run out of hot water and it even got a little hot at times. theWit also has one of the nicest rooftop bars you can go to. It is divided into two sections, one more of a true lounge area overlooking the city and the other a sit down style with the bar relatively close to you. The night we were there there was a DJ playing music at just the right noise level for the crowd that was in there loud enough to give that party vibe, but not so loud that people were having to yell and not enjoy themselves. They also had some extremely tasty drinks up there. The only downside as with most downtown hotels in Chicago is $82 a night to valet. read more

Traveled to stay here for a family wedding this past weekend, The location-Fantastic! The room-Great! The Wedding- Beautiful! The Elevators- Ridiculous, let me explain. 4 elevators in a building with 27 floors. 5 or 6 are open to public, or used for events. 1 elevator was broke. Keycards are required to get to room floors (loved this) but catching one that's not full to get on depends upon time of day. it's is after 9pm they close one elevator for the 27th floor night bar and it goes 1 & 27 that's it. That left two elevators running for all guests. Normally took a lot of waiting. When leaving the wedding it took MULTIPLE(8+) time waiting for an elevator to be able to leave the 3rd floor to get to 15 because we had wedding stuff with us and was trying to be respectful of others space finally had one come by with less than 6 ppl in it! Give yourself 30 mins to struggle with the elevator if you're going for a special event, or a booked reservation anywhere. read more

While the hotel cannot dictate improvements made by the city, it was hard to get to due to construction. The room was nice with weird modern "art." I purposely chose a room with a bed and a sofa bed but when we opened the sofa bed it wasn't made up. read more

For the team dinner, the staff decided on Roof on the Wit. At first glance, the restaurant looked nice and classy. The giant screens played animated scenes. The atmosphere felt like a high end club. For dinner some of us ordered sushi, pepperoni pizzas, salads and alcoholic beverages. I ordered an unsweetened ice tea. The sushi tasted delicious. My coworkers, managers and I went out to celebrate after a long day of training. We needed to relax. The only caveat came from the ventilation kept dripping water. So we moved to the center of the restaurant. At least the seating gave us more space allowed more circulation. Being the first time that I went there, I will probably go back to theWit. read more

The Godfrey Hotel is a ok hotel, but for the price I paid, I honestly wouldn't recommend it. There are several things that didn't meet my expectations. One of the biggest issues was the lack of a microwave. Microwaves are not included in the rooms, and even when you try to rent one, they have a limited amount available. We weren't able to get one during our stay, which was inconvenient. The spa is listed as one of the amenities, but it is not included with your stay and comes with an expensive extra cost. The food was also disappointing -- it was just okay and not what I expected for a hotel at this price point. The shower was another problem. While the water gets hot, the shower floor feels poorly designed, almost like a gym floor, and water gets everywhere. It made the bathroom experience frustrating. Housekeeping was decent -- they came in and cleaned the room, so that part was fine. Some of the walls were damaged, which made the room feel less well-kept than expected. The TV, however, felt outdated. It was a Samsung TV that was slow and did not have Apple Play or newer smart features. The pillows were also hit or miss; some were comfortable, while others were not. The robes are not guaranteed in every room, which was disappointing. Overall, the hotel has a nice atmosphere and appearance, but the experience did not match the amount of money I paid. For the price, I expected better amenities, updated rooms, and more convenience. read more

Great location, steps from the Chicago theater and in the middle of everything. Easy walk to the river, shopping, trains, etc... Very convenient in that regard. Staff were friendly and personable. The bed was average, not bad but not great either. Awesome views from our corner suite, looking down on the elevated train and out on the skyline. The suite living room looked impressive but the carpet and furniture is showing wear from parties. One of the couch cushions had a stain covering half of the seat. The carpet and arm chair were also stained. The living room has adjoining doors to bedroom suites on either side, one ours and one not ours. The neighbors next door were loud and at times easily heard through the closed adjoining door. read more

I cancelled a rescevation due to illness and was told by front end manager Lydia she would take care of the charge. The following day, I noticed the charge on my credit card for almost $200. In general I am pretty satisfied with the stay. One thing I like most is the bold, creative designs in the hotel, from lobby to guest room to rooftop. Second, the gym was also clean and equipped with everything I need. The location is also great, convenient for me to go almost everywhere. The stay could be better if the hotel 1. Clean the wall of bathroom more carefully 2. Give some instructions on how to turn on the lights (they looked fancy but difficult to operate lol) 3. Turn down the music in corridors a bit, as the walls were not sound-proof. read more

Hardly worth the price paid. Bed was stiff. Atmosphere was boring. Drinks overpriced. Forced to pay a resort fee. No pool. Spa was closed. Oh...it also includes the wifi. What a marvel in 2026. When asked how my stay was, I told the girl at the desk "not great. The bed was awful." Our stay at TheWit Chicago was truly outstanding. The hotel is located on the L (noise was not an issue) at State and Lake. Although the adjacent State & Lake station was demolished a couple of months ago and will eventually be replaced, the next nearest L station was only about two blocks away. The hotel and rooms are nicely decorated. We were greeted by Beatriz, who checked us in early and upgraded our room as Diamond Hilton Honors members to a one-bedroom spa suite. Beatriz's friendliness, courtesy, helpfulness, and professionalism turned out to be the norm for the entire staff, not only at the front desk, but also housekeeping, engineering (we had a small technical issue that was quickly addressed), the concierge, and the restaurant. Speaking of the restaurant, a special shout out to Milthon who took great care of us at breakfast each morning. Each time we returned from touring, we were warmly welcomed back by the staff in the lobby. I have stayed at Hilton properties all over the world and was among one of the best stays I have experienced. Nice spot & venue however costumer service & guest relations is horrible. This is specifically regarding the rooftop staff. I am an African American male who feels stereotyped of course due to image. Security is very rude & unprofessional. I was yelled at & disrespected by security when disrespect was never given. I addressed the encounter I had with the "manager" & of course excuses was given. I don't recommend this place for urban Chicago African Americans because you will be stereotyped & not respected unfortunately. read more

Lovely hotel with great staff but do NOT waste your money on a package and call to confirm you will have access to the lounge if that's your primary reason for booking. I booked the theatre package for one night trying to have a little getaway for my anniversary- stated to include dinner, drinks, breakfast, valet, and a spa basket. When we got our bill, all of our meals and drinks were fully charged and we had to wait to talk to the manager to actually get those credits we paid for applied- and those credits are very small and don't cover much. We also had no notification the lounge would be closed off for a private event. This really threw a wrench in our plans. Definitely would have booked elsewhere if we knew this would be the case. This of course was of no fault to the great staff at the hotel, and they did point us in the direction of some other rooftop bars nearby, but I thought that was a really shady move on Hilton's part. And finally, that spa basket was nowhere to be found, and I just let that one go because I already felt bad enough bothering the manager about our bill. So again, the room and the staff at this place are great, just stay away from the packages! They cost more than they actually give. read more
