The texture was incredible: crispy and crunchy on the outside, but tender and juicy and fatty on the inside. The watermelon and daikon cut through the fattiness with a crisp and light sweetness. I could eat this for days! The chicken, while crispy and delicious for most of the bird, was dry when you get to the thicker cut of the breast. The arch is beautiful in person, so much greenery; I wasn't expecting the outdoor seating to be under this arch and that this arch was a pathway to other restaurants, so people kept walking past. Celadon has become the family get-together spot in Napa. The food is always good. The service is always good. When we want to celebrate a holiday (Mother's Day, Easter, etc.) in the wine country, this is where we go. The folks at Celadon know how to make special days special. While in Napa, Hubby had wanted to go to a restaurant with a waterfront view for his birthday. I was looking around and found Celadon. I made reservations the morning of after double checking with Hubby if this place is good. Making reservation was super easy and I was glad that there was openings for us to book. Upon arriving, we were greeted and I told them that we had a reservation. They looked me up and took us to our table. Because I stated on the reservation that this was for a birthday, they even had a card for him. We looked at the menu and decided what we wanted to eat. The staff was nothing but kind and helpful to us and we really appreciate the great atmosphere. We ordered their Sweet Coconut Fried Prawns, Pan Roasted Boneless Half Chicken, Pappardelle Pasta with chicken, and the Truffle-Parmesan Fries. Everything was amazing! It was honestly so hard to choose what entrée we wanted to eat as they all sounded soo yummy! I usually have a difficult time when eating pesto at some places, but here I had no problems at all, which I am grateful for because I LOVE pesto. We loved everything that we had ordered and if we come back to Napa and come to Celadon, we will most definitely be trying something different on their menu! The service was pretty quick since we got there at 5 pm right when they opened for dinner. We got the calamari and lettuce cups to start. Both were fine, but I'd pass next time. For entrees, we got the risotto, pork chop, and sticky ribs. The risotto was the star of the night for me and the girls. Dessert was banana creme brulee, which had the perfect amount of sweetness. I found this place on Open Table when I was looking for a brunch spot to celebrate Father's Day. After parking in the big lot, we walked over to Celadon and realized we had never been on the side street it was on. Then you turn into this little walk way with a floral archway to enter the restaurant. The walkway was nice and we loved the vibe of the restaurant. We were surprised we hadn't noticed it before. We ordered drinks after the server came by and my son's Chocolate Chip Pancakes so he could start first. The Beef Carpaccio to share as a starter. The fried capers really gave it a unique flavor and texture. It was a delicious starter. The beautiful high-vaulted courtyard patio with barnyard/industrial-chic exposed brick and a fully glass side is so cozy and quaint. A gem tucked away in the mill in downtown Napa. Didn't require a reservation to be seated right away for Sunday brunch a little past noon. The basil hollandaise was so fresh and yummy and gave my dish a very fun, unique, green eggs and ham feel. I think this may have been the largest portion of eggs Benedict I have ever received- incredibly filling. If there was any drawback it was the potatoes on the side were a little dry I wish they were a little smaller and softer, with more of that crispy skin goodness in every bite. I also tried a bit of the braised pork hash and that was absolutely delicious, fall off the bone juicy meat perfectly cooked. We were seated right by the fireplace, which looked like something out of a hobbits' home in Lord of the Rings. The green beans were seasoned very well Dessert: Lemon Meringue I'm not a fan of creams, but the cream atop the main lemon part was so fluffy and indulgent. I loved the lemon meringue part as well, in its delicious crust. For drinks, I got A Bloody Good Thyme, which consisted of maker's mark bourbon, blood orange bitters, brandy cherry, and thyme syrup. My boyfriend got a small bottle of Moscato. Since he was driving and couldn't drink it all, they bagged it up for him so that he could bring it home. Dinner was so lovely! Went for brunch on a Saturday around 1:00 pm. There are two seating areas, outside under cover or inside. We chose inside by the bar because outside felt a little warm. We were asked if we had reservations and quickly seated. Outside tables were busy, but there was no one inside so we had the place to ourselves. Waiter was nice and went over the cocktails and menu and provided recommendations. We ordered mimosas with stuffed brioche and a breakfast sandwich and fries. The mimosa was strong but not overly so. My friend stated the French toast was excellent and the cream was the perfect compliment. The breakfast sandwich had eggs, bacon, and cheese on a potato bun. They brought jelly for the sandwich. The sandwich was rather large and a little messy, so a knife and fork are in order. The fries were fresh with a slight crunch. $18 for each meal felt like a great deal. The mimosas were almost as expensive at $14 a glass, which is about right these days. I definitely plan to go back and try something else on the menu. read more

We stayed at the Napa River Inn and decided to have dinner at Celadon our first night. We ended up having dinner here all three nights of our stay, not just because it was perfectly located by the hotel, but because the food and especially the service was phenomenal. The first night my husband and I both had the New York steak, we've never had a NY steak that was that tender and perfectly cooked to our requests. We also had the lemon meringue pie which was the best we've had in a long time. The second night, my husband ordered the lamb shank and I had the pappardelle pasta bolognese. The lamb shank was not only cooked to perfection, the presentation was outstanding. He only had to use a butter knife to cut his lamb. My pasta was absolutely delicious and filling, although it was cooked al dente and I prefer it to be softer, but this did not take away from the overall delicious taste. Third night, I caved in and ordered the Asian sticky ribs and my husband had the half chicken. The ribs were so soft and tender, the flavor was exactly right. My husband throughly enjoyed the chicken, it had an excellent sauce and gnocchi included. Unfortunately we did not get names, but the General Manager was extremely knowledgeable about local wines that paired well with the meals and everyone was attentive and welcoming. We started with the coconut shrimp appetizer which came on a bed of lettuce. Really tasty and crunchy. I had the chiliquiles which was a big portion but the chips were soggy. One star removed as it must have sat around for a bit. Others had biscuits and gravy, the day's special omelette, and the asian glazed ribs. They were happy with their meal though noted they were lukewarm. We ended with bread pudding and banana creme brûlée which were both very good, with bread pudding my favorite as served with ice cream. Leo was our server this previous visit and as busy as it was, he was very attentive to our table and never missed a beat. This place works as a team. My flute tipped over and broke, spilling all the champagne left. Next thing you know three others ran over to clear it up as fast as can be. The place was packed just minutes after opening; reservations are recommended and can be done on OpenTable.com. The place is super cute and although many like the outdoors which is covered under a permanent text, i prefer the inside. Food is sooo yummy and portions are big. This place was worth every penny. We booked a reservation on Open Table for 9:30pm last night (Friday) because it was last minute that's the only time slot they had available. We decided we would go earlier and maybe just have a glass of wine until we could be seated. So, we walked in around 8:30pm and were pleasantly surprised when the hostess told us she could seat us right away. The broth that the mussels were nestled in was light but luscious. The crab cakes were meaty with a thin outer breading and paired well with the siracha aioli and sesame papaya salad. For dinner I got the pan roasted Alaskan halibut and my fiancé got the grilled New York steak. The fish was so tender and flaky that it just melted in my mouth. I tried my fiancé's steak too and it was very well-cooked, juicy and flavorful. I got the New York cheesecake with berry compote and chantilly cream. My fiancé got the lemon meringue pie with graham cracker crust. Both desserts were delicious. Everything we tried here food wise was great. In addition to how clean and high-quality the food tasted, the presentation was on point and fit the beautiful ambiance of the restaurant. It can get busy here during weekend rush hour so if you plan to dine here make sure to have reservations. They also won't sit you at the table unless your whole party has arrived. It's right across from the parking garage so it is also just a convenient spot to have a meal. On to the food... We ordered calamari and crab cakes for appetizers. I had the omelette for the day which had spinach, tomato, bacon and cheese. The calamari was good, but I wish they had the sweet chili sauce on the side instead of on top of it. It was a bit over dressed, and took away from the crunchy exterior. The breading didn't slide off the calamari which was a huge plus in my book. The crab cakes held together, but the star of that dish was the shredded papaya. It added another level freshness to the dish that was needed. Omelette was simple nothing extravagant. We brought four bottles of wine for six people. Each bottle had a 20.00 corkage fee. This was reasonable. I wasn't blown away by anything but the quality was good. We started with the calamari that was highly recommended at one of the wineries we visited. It was pretty good, it had a hot sweet honey like substance on it which change the flavor profile a bit. If you're looking for a nice romantic dinner or a dinner date with your teenage daughter, this is the spot! Celadon is located in beautiful downtown Napa which offers outdoor dining. I made reservations 3 days prior to my arrival through Opentable (reservations recommended). Parking wasn't an issue in the evening, however, I'm sure it's a bit of a challenge earlier in the day, especially a weekend. I was at Celadon on a Tuesday night. There is a parking garage across the street and a short walk away from the restaurant. The first thing I noticed is the lighted walkway which automatically gave me New Orleans vibes. The host seated us immediately -- and yes, this restaurant is Covid compliant, every employee at the restaurant correctly wore their masks. And there was hand sanitizer in the front. I loved the interior. We sat outdoors but it didn't feel like we were outdoors. There was a cozy fireplace across from our table and a heated lamp above us. We felt VERY comfortable. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. Not only did she make sure we had everything we need, other staff members also walked up to our table asking us how we were doing. I ordered the Crispy Braised Pork Lettuce Cups (appetizer), the Moroccan Braised Lamb Shank (entree) and my daughter ordered the Grilled Pork T-bone. Crispy Braised Pork Lettuce Cups: These were delicious and very tasty! If you're trying to cut down on carbs, this is the perfect appetizer. Moroccan Braised Lamb Shank: So I looked at the other Yelp reviews and assumed that the entree was small. I was so wrong! I couldn't even finish my food. It was so good. I recommend this entree. Delicious! Grilled Pork T-bone: I didn't try it but my daughter seemed to enjoy her meal. Hate to bring this up, but she did mention that the Brussel sprouts tasted "hard" and undercooked. I don't normally eat Brussels sprouts so I wouldn't know. Our meal also came with complimentary bread (this was my favorite) and balsamic oil/vinegar. I would also like to give credit to this restaurant for not wasting food. An employee gave us the Flash Fried Calamari appetizer for free because they made an extra one in error. Instead of throwing it away, they gave it to us and it was delicious! We got super lucky! But I swear that's not the reason why I'm giving this restaurant 5 stars! Now for the price range -- the menu prices are on the high side, but totally worth it. I wish I had the space to try their dessert! I guess I'll have to wait until next time. I only wish i had more room in my stomach for the ribs, i felt so bad not being able to finish them! Highly recommend opting for the truffle fries. You can tell the oil is high quality with how potent it is- the fries were coated and fragrant but not soggy and oily. The parm was light and added the right amount of salt. The ribs themselves were sweet and rich- the meat fell off the bone! We had the brownie and port pairing, which was wonderful. What went right. The service was excellent. The calamari was good. My husband's drinks were great. What went wrong: I ordered the chicken. It came with gnocchi and English peas. I tasted those first. They were so greasy I didn't bother tasting the rest of the dish. The waiter returned the dish to remedy the very foul tasting greasy sides. The dish returned with overcooked English peas, tasteless mash potatoes and unseasoned chicken. Horrible. Worst meal in a very long time. I took one bite of each item and sent it back. They did not charge me but our dinner was ruined. We were looking forward to a Saturday night summer dinner at one of our favorite restaurants as we are locals. So disappointed that the food quality has declined so badly. The wine list offered very few moderately priced wine and even fewer moderately priced Napa wines when there are so many to choose from. They were out of the one I ordered. I was given an affangatto as a peace offering. It was not a high end restaurant affangatto. I make a far better one at home. Had a great brunch here. The appetizers were so so good. The calamari, lettuce wrap, and shrimp are a must!! So delicious, just wish with the price it came with more. I had the breakfast sandwich, which was pleasantly good. The bread was perfect for the sandwich and was surprisingly really big I had to take some home because I couldn't finish it all! What a great place! My husband and I came here last night for dinner. We were greeted by a very nice host who offered us a table in the patio area or inside. We chose the inside of the restaurant because it was a bit more quiet in there. But, we changed our mind and asked to be move to the patio, we liked the ambiance there. We were served delicious bread warm, with a yummy olive oil and vinegar dip. We shared a large Caesar salad, ordered 2 glasses of red wine, for our entree I got short ribs with mushroom risotto and my husband got the pork chop. Both were very good, and large quantities! We got lemon meringue pie and coffee for dessert. The entire meal was really good, and service was tops! Everyone is so nice there. Anxious to go back to this great place! read more
