I really didn't think something like a simple grain bowl would be so flavorful but Cava has managed to do it! The honey chicken is well seasoned and mixed with the garlic sauce is out of this world. If I was to describe CAVA, I would said it is when "Mediterranean food meets Chipotle." You'll walk in and order either a bowl or a pita and then pick your fillings. I ordered a pita and picked 3 different hummus options and one scoop of chicken and one scoop of roasted vegetables. When I was ordering, I didn't think I was getting a ton of food and was kind of upset because the meal without a drink was $10. Thankfully, I was pretty full at the end of the meal! Everything tasted really fresh and I felt like I was eating relatively healthy for eating out. I recommend the spicy hummus - it was the perfect kick to my pita. The pita is softer and more chewy than say your Trader Joe's pita. Also shout out to the roasted veggies because they were better than the chicken! I never thought I'd say something like that either! The interior is really clean and spacious. It matches the vibe really well. The staff were friendly and walked me through the ordering process without judgement so that was really nice of them. OMG y'all, is meatless Fridays a thing??? I think I just made it a thing, cause this salad bowl with sweet potato, tzatziki, hummus and crazy fetta really smacks!!! Even cold, the following day, it's still tastier than any tuna salad sandwich or egg muffin I could have possibly brought from home. I am so happy we popped in last night for their soft opening and got to try a FREE bowl (or wrap, your choice) but not only that, they were "practicing making to-go orders" so we were highly encouraged to take a freshly-made, random combination bowl from the to-go wall on the way out. Double score! If you remember Garbanzo or VertsKebap (rest in peace) they really did have the right idea with their assembly-line style concept but I think they were just ahead of their time, especially for San Antonio (sad face). I feel like CAVA took a page out of their book, tore it out rebelliously, and re-wrote it on fancy, scented, glossy paper and voila, that's how CAVA was born. I'm pretty certain that's exactly how it happened.... The staff was so friendly and I couldn't even tell that they had been slanging bowls and wraps all the live long day long because I felt like their first customer of the day. I won't go into detail about what you will find on the assembly line but I *will* encourage you to build your order on their app or website before going in because it is very user friendly and will show you exactly how many meats, toppings, ingredients, and sauces you can put in your bowl or wrap. I will tell you that their falafel are SO good and have little corn bits inside and are flavored really well and that their crazy feta is like a mousse infused with jalapeno, it is so damn tasty!!! I also love how every bite just tastes different and that I discovered that I like black lentils! Make it a point to replace at least 1 meal a week with a bowl from CAVA and your tummy won't only feel good but YOU will also feel good, full, and pleasantly surprised. I've been here twice and both times we had to wait quite a long time to go through the line and get our meal. It seems like the my could use more staff especially during peak times. This is my first Yelp review. I'm not a fan of lashing out online over food, but I just needed to let you all know this location has really gone downhill. A couple of years back, I could eat this food every day. Now it's just a mess in a bowl. The chicken is soft with no crust from cooking. Everything is just jumbled in the bowl. I had the blueberry lavender and yes grt that friend! You can also add different type of rice to your salad... I chose not to but it looked really good and fluffy! I don't normally leave reviews only if the experience is truly not well. I've been coming to this cava a few times. I like cava. It's fast food so it's not perfect, there's always crunchy rice, mostly fat instead of chicken, I've accepted that. But I'm truly just not happy with how I've seen the staff treat people as well. I get that you may not be payed a ton as someone that's worked in a similar industry and it's frustrating but you chose to get this job and you can quit if you don't want to be there. I'm scared to speak up or say things because I'm not usually a complainer and this is no hate to cava but please get someone in here to train staff or get staff that cares about what they are cooking and keeping things clean. The food looks extremely unappetizing and the counter tops are not clean. Nothing is warm protein / cold -veggies. I went in and there looked to be an upper management person and thankfully he threw out the rice, and was very helpful, was even trying the food and throwing it out proving my point. So hopefully he sticks around. This is no hate to anyone, I just won't be coming back to this cava. read more

I was on my way to Snooze when this intense aroma hit my nostrils and made my tummy grumble lol. I was like, "Oh my God, that smells delicious...that is not coming from Snooze." Lol I looked up and CAVA moved in to where another restaurant used to be. I looked up the CAVA menu and was thrilled! I have been craving Mediterranean food for the longest time but a lot of restaurants make it on the not so healthy side. Sooooo I was thrilled to see that this is a Mediterranean version of Chipotle. I asked for mine to be to-go but I ate the whole bowl in the restaurant lol, delicious . I did the half and of super greens and Saffron Basamanti rice and added all of the items that I couldn't pronounce correctly lol I wanted to surprise myself and this included the spicy items too. My husband (who has 20 years of food industry experience) called to give the staff a heads up to throw out the hummus. The crazy feta was spicy and different, the braised lamb was delicious, the pita had perfect texture, and all the veggies were so fresh. That said, I had some weird flavor combos in my bowl, which was probably on me since I did choose everything... but the briny olives combined with something sweet (not sure what it was, maybe the red onions or a sauce?) was odd, and the hot lamb wilted all my greens down to nothing. Service was fast and friendly, and they asked before giving us anything with an upcharge, which I appreciated. Random note- what is with the name? The choices of veggies and meats (like the meatballs, braised lamb, Persian cucumbers, tomato and onions) are really different and delicious. Online ordering is pain-free, and order fulfillment is very punctual. Pro-tip: the soft drinks are worth the extra charge and the crispy pita pieces are to die for. There are a lot of Cava locations around San Antonio, but this location has to be one of my favorites! All the workers are super nice and their scoops are very generous. It usually lasts me two meals, and if you ask for more scoops, they are definitely not shy with it. Cava has been one of my go-to places ever since I started coming to this location! My favorite thing to get here is build your own bowl. I usually get half saffron rice with romaine lettuce (as the base) with chicken. I put most of the toppings on there for a savory, spicy, and refreshing meal! For the dips, I usually get the regular hummus, red pepper hummus, and harissa. The harissa makes your bowl a little spicer, which I enjoy. I've also tried the crazy feta, but I found that it overpowered the bowl with feta-flavor, because you also have the option to get feta as a topping. Some of my favorite toppings to get are the pita crisps, pickled onions, and the fire roasted corn! I highly recommend you to get all the toppings, since there is no additional charge and they are all very delicious. The tomato+cucumber/tomato+onion has a limey sauce on it that makes it tangy and sweet at the same time! For the dressing, the Skhug (which is a little spicer) and the garlic dressing are my go to's! The place is overall clean and there are lots of places for you to sit down and enjoy your meal. I will be coming here again and again! read more

I wasn't able to get a server's name but he needs a raise because honestly as someone with multiple food allergies, he walked me through what was safe to eat and his recommendations. Not a lot of workers take the time to do that and I was really appreciative of it. I would've given a tip but there wasn't an option during checkout or a tip jar. I would definitely come back here.
