It's been a minute since I've been here but my friend wanted to meet up here for a late Sunday lunch so we did. Of course the area was busy with diners and shoppers so I decided to park in the garage since it's free, just a short walk & I don't have to go round & round looking for a spot. It wasn't very busy inside so I took my time reading the posted menu. There are so many options if you want to build a salad bowl but I was pretty hungry & just decided on the Harvest Bowl. I told the male clerk it's been awhile since I've been here and forgot the routine but he made me feel welcome & at ease by saying "Well, welcome back!" I verified my toppings with him but they were running out of the chicken and all that was left were shredded bits so he told me he'd be back with a freshly cooked batch. I asked for the Apple Vinaigrette on the side so he gave me 2 portions. I was also given a slice of bread on the side. I paid, got my water & utensils on the side & sat down. My friend arrived shortly after & had to park down the block. I loved my salad! The squash, chicken & wild rice mix was warm, goat cheese cold, red cabbage crunchy with a roasted flavor, the apple vinaigrette was tasty & fresh & had an applesauce texture to it. Came here just to try out their salads after going to Trader Joe's, was not disappointed. This is pretty much a "Chipotle style" ordering but just with salads. We customized our own salad, the staff was super friendly and attentive. I liked that when we got to the dressing they asked if we wanted light, medium, or heavy amount of dressing, not something you get asked very much. Sweet Green hit right on the mark this weekend! My mom and I stopped by during a busy day of shopping and the salads we ordered were the perfect lunch. The serving size was large, the toppings were fresh and the service was speedy. The veggies were crisp and the flavors blended together so well in each of our salad bowls. I appreciate that they have dairy free dressings and the nutrition facts readily available. I had previously ordered from here for take out and the food didn't seem near as fresh and the size was notable smaller, needless to say, the in-house experience was much better. I was going to rate them a 4, but due to the quality in-house, I'm bumping this up to a 4.5, so we'll round up to a 5 as you can't give partial numbers on Yelp. I ordered pick up. That experience was not pleasant but expected as it's in the corner of the quarry by Trader Joe's. The order was packed nicely and aside from parking it was a quick in and out. We order a kids plate, Buffalo Chicken Salad and a Caesar Chicken Salad. They salads were both incredibly fresh in some pretty big bowls. The kids plate was sad and disappointing. The sweetgreen newbies commented on both the size of the salads, how fresh and crisp the ingredients were. I enjoyed eating the caramelized garlic steak and rice bowl. I ordered for pickup at the Quarry Market location, and when I got there I found there to be sufficient parking. Ordering ahead, I just walked in and picked-up my order, and leave. I had to enlist the help of Brooke to help me make a choice and ended up with the hot honey chicken bowl, but I replaced the quinoa with the wild rice. My wife got the harvest bowl sans chicken, double sweet potato and we were both blown away by the depth of the flavor and the spiciness. The portions are big. To be honest I didn't know much about Sweetgreen, but a quick salad fit the bill after a Trader Joe's run. Sweetgreen shares the same parking, so very convenient. Sweetgreen is unique in that it aims to be carbon neutral by 2027. Definitely not going to see that at the local drive thru. The concept is a Chipotle style line set up where you pick all of the options either into a bowl or a salad. They also have some seasonal choices if you aren't feeling creative. I was very impressed with the quality of the grains, greens and toppings. Everything was very fresh and there are so many healthy options. I opted for a bowl and it had so much crunch and flavor. The cashew dressing was delicious. They should bottle and sell that stuff. If in the Alamo Quarry area Sweetgreen offers a healthy fast option. read more
