I am in love with this place. I love the variety of flavorful food options to build your own bowl/pita. I personally enjoy their bowls, but the pitas are also very tasty. In my experience, I've ordered black lentils in my bowl, and on multiple occasions, they have been undercooked so as I'm enjoying my meal, I'm also crunching on the lentils. I might stop ordering the lentils in the future in order to enjoy my meal without unexpectedly biting into undercooked lentils. Usually, service is quick and easy, you walk up to the employee and you tell them what you want. Today, I had to wait a little longer than usual--but to be fair, the employee was helping another customer. There is plenty of seating inside and outside. I opted to sit outside to enjoy the weather. It's a gorgeous day and we had to enjoy the outdoors for dinner tonight. We decided on @cava 1604. I had brought my family here when they were visiting a few months ago. Dad and I shared a bowl - the base was half brown rice and half saffron rice, a scoop of the red pepper hummus, 2 scoops of Tsatziki, regular chicken, 2 scoops of roasted corn, a scoop of tomatoes, a scoop of chopped cucumbers and tomatoes and topped with lots of lemon herb tahini. Even with sharing, we couldn't finish it. Dad tried but didn't care for the Blueberry Lavender or the Pineapple Mint so he ended up with the Lemonade. My husband had more of the premium items like Lamb Meatballs and Braised Lamb. He couldn't finish either. I personally love the Blueberry Lavender. Their drinks are made in house...so good! I have visited a number of locations for Cava and generally have a good experience. I think it's nice that they offer suggestions of bowls you can put together but also allow you to customize your bowl/ pita like Chipotle. I love that you can customize your bowl to be as filling and healthy (or unhealthy) as you want. Every time I've gone, I always order the same thing... a build your own lamb bowl. The ingredients are always fresh and the lamb seems to always be cooked perfectly. Plus, lamb is not a protein source I often find at restaurants so it's a nice change of pace. My dad ordered the Balsamic Chicken Bowl which I tried and it was also excellent... nothing has ever been bad here! I visited this location on a weekend at 12:00PM and was surprised to see there was absolutely no line even though there was a good amount of people sitting in the restaurant. While not rude per say, the staff was not the friendliest and were very uninterested in any small talk. Even usual questions like "would you like the mini pita this comes with" weren't asked and ended up being something I had to come back and ask for. I also found it a bit odd that they had a sign that they were having supply issues with romaine lettuce and tomatoes/onions but it really didn't impact me as they still had the tomato and cucumber blend I love! After a couple of days of rich and meat-heavy meals with family, I just wanted some freaking vegetables. I was bummed to see that the Zoe's chain is pretty much cleared out of SA, but it's been replaced by Cava, which has some similarities in menu and target audience. The menu is basically a Mediterranean version of Chipotle, with bowls and wraps. Their website and online ordering process were easy to navigate. I placed orders for three grain bowls, with several customizations, and headed over to pick up. Portions were large and prices were fair, at about $10-13/pp. The produce was fresh and we all really enjoyed our meals. Everything in our order was correct and nothing was forgotten, which is always a plus. Standout ingredients for me were the garlic sauce and lemon-herb tahini, the falafel and their lamb proteins, and their crazy feta dip. I would suggest putting dressings on the side to add to your preference - note that these containers are not labelled so if you have a larger order, it might get confusing. Bowls come with an optional free pita bread, oddly sized at about 1/3 of of whole pita rather than cut into triangles. read more

Turns out CAVA acquired Zoe,'s in 2018 and picked this time to make the changeover to CAVA. Lucky us. When I drove up people were waiting in a line that was out the door. Inside people were sitting and enjoying their food and each other in nicely spaced tables and booths. All the servers were masked but super friendly and taking people through how ordering at CAVA works! Dine-in or take-out, your choice. I ordered the "Harrisa Avacado Bowl". The flavor harmony and mix of textures were excellent. The Harissa Honey Chicken is fantastic... The just- right heat of the seasoning on refreshingly moist chicken sets the flavor of this bowl apart. Add in their Crazy-Feta, hummus, reg Feta, Avacado, Fire-Roasted Corn, Cucumbers, Pickled Onions, Basmati Rice, Super Greens, Hot Harrisa vinegarette... and it's one of those plates that you will think about tomorrow and crave. This is one of my favorite lunch time spots! Even dinner when I'm traveling for work! I could easily eat this twice a day. It is so close to the Drury where I usually stay in Stone Oak and the food is ALWAYS fresh and fabulous! My diet has been mostly plant based as of late and this place has made it so enjoyable with their dairy free options! The Skhug dressing and Lemon herb are an absolutely delicious combo and the bowl is so filling! I also highly recommend the roasted eggplant dip and the Pita Chips! So it's essentially a Mediterranean Chipotle, complete with having to ask them to not be stingy. I didn't bother with asking for more than a tablespoon of hummus or tzatziki. I just let it be. Ate here during a pre-opening invitation. We had three pita wraps. I had the spicy lamb meatball and it was pretty good. My wife really enjoyed her spicy chicken and avocado pita wrap. My daughter made her own with chicken. We spoke with the manager as we waited in line. Cava had bought out all the Zoe's and we have noticed several Zoe's have converted to Cava. Cavas menu is very limited. Frankly I enjoyed Zoe's more. We loved Zoe's and ate there frequently. We will be back. Hopefully they can publish or recommend keto options. read more

I was looking for a place where I could eat healthy food w different options than the typical salad bar. So, I was happy to find Cava. The first thing I noticed when we walked in was all of the wooden accents. It's a very clean, earthy feeling casual restaurant. Cava is a Mediterranean style restaurant. You stand in a cafeteria type line to order. You start by choosing the type of lettuce/greens you want. (You can start w a pita also) Then, you add a grain. Followed by a protein, up to 3 dips/spreads & unlimited toppings. (Extra charge for premium proteins like braised lamb & lamb meatballs & toppings like avocado). Last, choose your dressing. This is all in a bowl that you take to your wooden table & sleek wooden chair. The drink station is self serve. There is a unique variety of teas & a soda fountain. We liked everything about the restaurant except the horribly uncomfortable chairs. It was smart thinking though. If the chairs are basic then they are easy to sanitize. Also, people won't stay long...lol The staff here was fantastic! After I mentioned that this was our first visit, Francesca explained everything to us & was so nice! Riley also helped me in line w my toppings & God knows that waiting for me to figure out what I should or shouldn't get depending on the amount of carbs in it took patience, yet she just smiled & was soooo sweet! There were 4 young adults working in this store the night of Sunday May 1st. They were all very friendly, helpful & kind! I can't remember the last time I went to a casual restaurant where the entire staff was this fantastic & they didn't look miserable! While we were eating I could see Riley working nonstop to help with to go orders. This staff works hard & they worked really well together. The line just kept filling up & they handled it like pros.
