First time at Chicken Salad Chick and it really transports you to a certain era! It's like jumping into a Vera Bradley purse, it's so fun and kitschy. Never did I expect to find a whole restaurant dedicated to chicken salads, but it actually makes for a very satisfying lunch spot. They have daily specials and on Friday we were excited for their tomato bisque. I tried their pimento cheese chicken salad, and sorta regretted it because it was very sweet when sandwiched in a croissant as my bread. My partner picked their new Jill pickle chicken salad on wheat and as a BLT, it was a much more savory option. We split and swapped our sandwiches which made for a good balance. I also tried their broccoli salad as my side and liked it. It had a light mayo dressing and a bit of cheese and bacon. Their tea options were also good and I drank their peach ice tea. Next time I want to try their buffalo chicken salad or maybe take home one of their to-go portions as an easy meal for the week. I support this restaurant concept! So for various reasons, nothing to do with the food here, I haven't been in quite a while. But that chicken salad BLT sandwich has stayed in my mind making me drool at night, sometimes after they're closed. So today I decided it was time to revisit. It's a little hard for me to eat inside restaurants anymore so I do mostly takeout, especially take out brought to my car. Just less pain for me. But OH this is worth the discomfort. Not that it's hard for handicapped. Parking is close to the building and handicap parking is close. It's easy to push open the door and plenty of room to walk or wheel through. I happened to stumble upon customer appreciation day, so was instantly greeted and handed a cup of Carol's chicken salad to take home. Wonderful surprise. Now I have to talk about the staff here. Always so friendly and helpful. And they don't just stand behind the counter. They come out and help. There are a number, a lot of varieties of fillings to choose from. They offer samples of any you wish to try. So you see it could take a while but it really doesn't. What with my pain and some new varieties since my last visit I was a little scatter brained. But they treated me like a loved friend or family member not annoyed at all. She even noticed my military ID when I got my credit card out and gave me that discount automatically. I also sat where I could see them react with the take out and pick up customers. Again smiling, friendly, helpful...helped to carry out or check the order. Could not have been nicer. Had them sit if not ready and brought to the table. So really above 5 star on that! Now the food. Not quite five star...but maybe that's me. Maybe I ordered wrong. It's been a while and I'm really nitpicking here. The bread on my sandwich seemed to be grilled, not toasted. Only one side of the bread was toasted and it was both very thin bread but also very limp and floppy. Maybe toasted on the menu meant grilled? The other tiny thing and again really nitpicking is my bacon. It was not warm...so it didn't have the best flavor profile it could bring to the sandwich. Now was this a bad sandwich? Not at all, it was a great sandwich which I gobbled and enjoyed. But those two touches have pushed this sandwich to even more stars before. Again I'm nitpicking this sandwich. The soup was great. Ok so my daughters heard about chicken salad chick and wanted to check it out! Apparently I have been to this restaurant before, but the one in parkland , Florida it was their first time. We got here about 1230 prime time for lunch so it was a bit busy. Although the online order side was much busier. I do enjoy the color of the restaurant bright greenish looked and was clean. Great place to stop by for a quick lunch with friends, coworkers or family. They have a good selection of meals, the wait time was about 5-6 mins. It's a little on the pricey side for 3 of us I paid $40 that's without drinks and no dessert. (Cake was my nephews) The sliced cake didn't taste the freshest a little dry but the frosting made up for the dryness, still was delicious. Made a dine in visit with the hubs and was not disappointed. Their chicken salad is Uh-Mazing!! It was the perfect portion for us to share as we had eaten a pretty heavy breakfast and just needed a light snack around lunch time. The cashier seems like she was having a bad-ish day, but we could tell nothing was directed at us, so we hope her spirits are lifted and she is has an amazing week! The manager was kind. We had the jalapeno Holly, and cranberry kelly. Not even close to spicy on the jalapeno Holly, and the cranberry kelly gets blown out of the water by the heb version. The chicken itself had a strange texture. Almost grainy. The sides were just as bad. My broccoli salad, made no sense. It needed to be warm! Trust me. The macaroni salad also was just as bad. The pasta was overcooked. I mean it was semi affordable. As bad as the two salads were, we wouldn't bother to try any of the rest of the menu. I mean it was all BLAND! Just okay.... I decided to try this spot on recommendation from my coworker. I love the color scheme and the restaurant is cute and clean! I have really high standards for chicken salad because I grew up in a town with a local deli that was famous for their chicken salad, so maybe I was just expecting too much! The people working the counters are always friendly and if you do order in the store at great with helping with menu options. I'd definitely recommend this place as not only the service is great but the food is probably made from scratch. A traditional chicken salad made with celery, mayo, salt, pepper, but add in grapes. The difference is, this one includes apples and pecans. I deducted 1/2 of a star because the grapes in my fancy Nancy this second time around were not cut. I literally bit into 2 whole grapes. Whoever made this batch didn't take their time . This is my first time at chicken salad chick, I got the chicken salad with cranberries, pecans, and apples. My husband got the plain jane chicken salad. We both got it on croissants. I was invited by my neighbor friend to the soft grand opening today. We were super excited and eager to try, as she was very familiar with the chain coming from Alabama. The concept guiding this restaurant is that everybody has a different idea of what makes the "perfect" chicken salad. When I'm making chicken salad, I always go all-in with dried onions because I think that makes it extra delicious. The Dixie Chick (oniony) chicken salad here is absolutely perfect for me for that reason. I've tried and liked a few of the others, including Lauryn's Lemony Basil (self-explanatory), the Scotty (with ranch, cheese, and bacon), and a temporary Dill flavor with cucumber pieces in it. I've really liked all of them. There are a few varieties on the menu that I wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole, but that just means that they have everyone else's tastes covered! I will say that the flavors are more on the traditional southern side. There's no Curry Chicken Salad (what the Brits call "Coronation Chicken) or Sesame Mandarin Chicken Salad. They don't get international with it, but that's fine. They stick to what they know. The people who work there are always very sweet and polite, and the ambiance is pretty cute, given the strip mall location. I love that they have a case of chicken salads (large and small) that you can just grab for takeout. Sometimes I pop by to bring one to work. The cost is just a little over $8 after taxes, which really is not bad considering the quality of the chicken salad. If you dine in, they have cute table cloths, but they only give you plastic cutlery instead of real forks and knives, which makes it a little more wasteful and less homey. It's very clean though. My only big complaint is the lack of gluten-free options, which would be SO EASY to add! They should just carry some gluten free crackers. I get that gluten-free bread can be icky and would probably spoil, but crackers would be pretty simple. They could keep a box of them in the back for folks like me. I'd even pay $1 extra. The chicken salad is already gluten-free, so it seems silly to just rule out anyone with gluten sensitivities when it could be easily remedied. For now, I either get the potato soup to have some carbs or bring my own crackers. Nobody's given me the side eye (that I saw).
