I used to eat a lot of Salata when I lived in Houston (the chain started in Houston in 2005), but I visited this location for the second time this past weekend when I was visiting my grandfather. It's still my favorite salad bar chain. Why? Salata just has an amazing selection! What kind of greens do you prefer: spinach, baby kale, romaine, a blend...? They have them all. They have a million toppings: cheese, vegetables, fruit, proteins... (Among the proteins they offer are grilled tofu, marinated chicken, salmon, shrimp, falafel, steak...) And then 10+ dressings. You can really make any salad you can imagine at Salata. Everything is fresh and well-prepared. I visited with my grandfather and his wife, and we made three very different salads (I went very Mediterranean with lemon vinaigrette, chickpeas, tomato, artichoke, olives, hardboiled eggs, etc.). You start with your base which includes romaine hearts, Arcadian mix, arugula, cabbage, kale, spinach, or their version of mix which includes everything. For vegetables, they have tomato, cucumber, carrot, bell pepper, mushroom, broccoli, radish, beet, bean sprout, red onion, jicama, edamame, sun-dried tomato, black olive, corn, cilantro, pickle, green olive, green pea, jalapeño, chopped egg, chick pea, and black bean. A big bowl of salad at Salata makes a great lunch. I feel full and have energy for the day. At first, I wasn't sure how to order, but I took a "monkey see, monkey do" approach and figured it out. My pro tip: ask for just a half scoop of salad dressing, or get it on the side. It's fun to make your salad differently every time. For me, the extras are worth it, like the proteins (marinated chicken breast, or salmon) and avocado. My friends who are sensitive to gluten like eating at Salata because they can get an uncontaminated meal. This location has outdoor seating on the parking lot side, and indoor seating with a beautiful view of the Quarry golf course. read more

I did have a confusing experience with the pita bread, though. It tasted a little burnt and I wasn't sure if that was supposed to happen. Bad service. I got this place confused for sweet greens. I asked for a harvest bowl at ordering. They asked if I wanted anything additional I said no just how it comes. At the end of the line I was like doesn't the harvest bowl have sweet potatoes. I was told no they don't have sweet potatoes. I got a pesto chicken salad that tasted mediocre with rubber tasting chicken that was a $4 add on !!! At the register I told them I got the harvest bowl and the other girl that made the salad said it was a pesto chicken. I than realized I was at the wrong place. I would have ordered something else if I knew this wasn't the place that had the harvest bowl. There were 2 -4 attempts to correct me with attentive customer service but this place failed to do so. Why have I not found this place sooner? It's incredible. I have been craving salads for the longest time but just didn't want to buy a bunch of toppings that would go to waste and this place was like a dream. The amount of toppings you can pick, insane. They had everything and more that you could even imagine putting on your salad. The best part? You can get as many toppings as you want INCLUDED, minus the proteins, those were extra. Speaking of proteins, they had chicken, Turkey, shrimp, crab, artichokes, avocados, and a bunch of other things to your hearts content. We passed on croutons and stuff like that but you could get a multigrain croissant which was YUMMY. Soft, buttery, and just perfect to go with a salad. Tomato basil soup was also some of the best I've had in San Antonio. I regretted getting the small cup because I deserved an entire bowl of that stuff. I also enjoyed that instead of a soda fountain, it was all teas and lemonades. I felt like it was another added touch for wanting something light and "healthy". The staff was friendly and attentive. I got shrimp and lobster and peas and mushrooms and spinach and corn and black beans and alllll the cheeses. They mix it all up in your dressing of choice in the end, and it's like EVERY bite is the best bite. And y'all- the view while you eat- so good. I found this spot thanks to a Facebook group. The photo of the options looked so out of this world, I had to try it. Luckily, we had some errands in the Quarry Market area so it was perfect timing. When we first walked in, we were overwhelmed by the options. But, the way it was laid out made getting through seamless. Each section had different types of options. First, salad greens? Then veggies? Then cheese/fruit? Then protien? Then "weird stuff" (pepperoncini, etc)? Soup as a side? And lastly dried/crunchy toppings? I got the regular sized salad and swear it was enough for 2 people. I took half of it home and hope it keeps...you know how salad gets after having dressing. The views were great. We sat and had a panoramic view of the quarry/golf course. To top it off, the customer service was 100% spot on. So friendly. It was our first time but surely not our last. read more

It's a little frustrating how there isn't an option to add your dressing ON THE SIDE for the wraps when you're ordering door dash. This restaurant automatically dresses your wrap, which leads to soggy wilted lettuce by the time it arrives. Additionally, the wrap is wet and unpleasant when I have the time to eat it because it's been soaking in the dressing for 30-60 minutes. I wish this restaurant took the 15 seconds that it would take to put the dressing in a ramekin like a person that cares. read more
