Well I have to say, this is definitely another great vegan place to come try. I came here with family as I have family that are vegans. I was told many good things about the food here. I'm glad to say they did not disappoint. The inside of the building is so nice and pretty. It was pretty with the fake greens, and I liked the hanging chair at the corner surrounded by flowers (very cute!). The lady at the front desk was so nice. She gave recommendations, and she seemed to know about the menu well. She took our order and we waited maybe 20 minutes before the food arrived. First off, the food looked so pretty and presented nicely. I had ordered the 'al pastor' tacos, and it was good. I really liked how the pineapple compliments the soy meat and with hot sauce, which was excellent. I think I ordered probably one of the best sweet potato fries I've ever eaten. They were soooo good and wished that they gave me more! I also really enjoyed the cauliflower wings too (you can pick 4 types of sauce to use). I especially loved the ranch that came with it. My family also ordered the street tacos, which they definitely didn't hold back filling. Their salads looked really tasty too. The last thing I ordered was an oreo milkshake to go. Let me open this by saying that plantology Is my first thought when I think about vegan food. I'm new to the area and I'm literally here 2-3 times a week. You can't really go wrong with anything on their menu. I try something different each time and I enjoy it so much!! I have many favorites but I must say that the Summer Nachos are at the top on my list. The serving size is HUGE and you can either be stingy and eat them by yourself lol or choose to share. I don't know about you, but one thing that is a MUST about nachos is that every chip should be covered in goodness and plantology does just that.. NO CHIP LEFT BEHIND!!. These nachos are very filling, super delicious and loaded. The only con that I have about them is that, they are not very hot when they come out. Some areas were warmer than others but if the whole plate was actually hot it would be even more enjoyable. The service, I'm big on customer service it is very important to me and plays a huge part in whether I will continue to support a restaurant or not. Service here is not top notch but it's not the worse either. Each time I've been here it has been very dry and bland. My overall rating would be as follows: Food 9/10 and service 6.5/10. Tip: it can get a bit crowded(of course) around the lunch time rush (12pm-2pm). So if you would like to dine in keep that in mind, but there's also outside seating for you to enjoy as well . Ambiance was very laid back and casual. It's an order-at-counter and self-seating type of restaurant. Cute and modern. Food was fantastic. I had the kale caesar and street tacos and loved both! Highly recommend adding crispy chick'n to the kale caesar. The only thing I wasn't a huge fan of was the "cheez" on those, but I stole a bite of my sister's jalapeño mac and the cheese on that was so good especially if you mix in some hot sauce. We chose this place because my mom has Celiacs and Find Me Gluten Free had this listed as dedicated gluten free. The staff was friendly, the restaurant very modern, and there was a big variety in the menu. I had the Summer Nachos, with Soyrizo, cashew queso, guacamole, pico, pickled onions, and corn tortilla chips. The portions were enormous, and I shared a lot with my mother and husband and still had some left over on the plate. What a gem of a find! I was traveling in San Antonio and on my way to Chipotle to get something safely vegan and gluten free, and right there, on the way, like a beacon in the night, I saw Plantology. I couldn't believe my eyes. Was this really a 100% plant-based/vegan and gluten-free eatery literally right next to my hotel in San Antonio, Texas, of all places??? YES. I immediately rushed inside and devoured the menu (metaphorically speaking). The staff were incredibly patient and informative, sharing recs on the most popular dishes and all too often overlooked gems. I went for the staff recommended philly "cheesesteak" and loaded fries, and they did not disappoint. To-go service was quick, and I had a chance to sneak into my cookies and cream shake before I got my food; it's not often the kid in me gets to enjoy this kind of food, being a strict vegan and avoiding gluten like I do. Back at the hotel, the food proved to be absolutely amazing. This time I literally devoured every bite. My second and final night in town, I of course went back to Plantology to try more of the menu, this time opting for nachos and cauliflower wings. Once again, I was impressed. I travel to Texas monthly for work and am actively trying to arrange another trip to San Antoinio JUST to get back to this restaurant - even if I'm not staying right next door the next time around. It was packed with a lot of contents they did not skimp. It included soy beef bits, grilled peppers, onions, mushrooms, provolone cheese, and mayo. Really big sandwich. I've been dying to try and come eat here and on Saturday I finally came. Unfortunately it did not exceed my expectations. I am really bummed. It all started with the customer service. The women who took our order was not nice and welcoming. We even asked for suggestions and opinions since it was our first time and she was just giving us one word answers. Didn't explain anything nor asked if we needed anything we kept having to ask her for things. Then our food came, our friends order the Cali fries it was ok.my least favorite the "meat" (I know it's not real) but had a weird aftertaste. I have driven past this place so many times and being vegetarian- always meant to try , well finally I did and I will be back many, many times for sure . Cute interior, and fast, friendly service! We forest need dishes: The cauliflower wings, these were delicious. Really crispy and the cauliflower inside was cooked all the way through but not mushy and the sauce that accompanied it was so good with the right amount of heat. We had the 'lobster roll ' made with hearts of palm served on some delicious bread with Sweet potato fried and my personal favorite which was the Harvest 'Chick N salad '- so good. The plant based chicken was so good and crispy and the salad the accompanied it was the best!! The only thing that irked me ( and it's just a me thing - is I detest the scent of cooking oil) and the place did smell like it , and that smell clung to my clothes long after I had left and it bothered me tremendously! A few months ago my husband brought home a vegan pizza and after 3 bites I tossed it in the trash. So when he suggested we try Plantology, a vegan restaurant I had NO INTEREST! But after reading the reviews I figured it seemed safe enough to try. And the fact that they are gluten free is a huge plus since most people use wheat flour as a binder. Plantology is totally gluten free and vegan and I just can't believe it! There was nothing I didn't like. Nothing was off putting. Nothing was a "meh." When I tell you that everything blew my mind, it literally made me dance in my seat! The breakfast sandwich was so yummy, warm and soft. Their bread is unbelievable! The enormous oyster mushroom was delicious, and that sauce to dip is the perfect pair! Forgive my exclamation points but food this good gets me excited! The Nashville Chick'N was finger licking good, the bun, the chick'n, the sauce, the pickles, and I never thought I'd enjoy vegan cheese after the bad pizza incident, but this vegan did not skip a beat. We also ordered the Cali Fries because everyone was raving about them on the reviews. They were everything they were hyped up to be! And there was nothing classic about that burger, it was juicy, flavorful, filling, I could not believe it was not beef. I'm so glad that they are close to my house, this will definitely be a go to for me from now on. They use very high grade ingredients and their portions are generous. I've been here several times before now and I always had a pleasant experience. This last time was different. While we are eating our shared meal I noticed a hair in my guac. We had eaten around the guac to make it stretch through the bowl. I noticed this towards the end of the bowl. It was not mine or my spouses hair (his was blue and mine was red) and it was embedded in the guac. None of the workers wore hairnets. When my husband tried to get this addressed the manager on duty did not speak English and the cashier had to translate for him. He accused my husband of the hair being his and stressed that we were wrong and trying to get one over on him. I came across this place on Instagram over the summer, but I forgot about it until my friend wanted us to go try it out! For whatever reason I wasn't expecting much, so when we showed up to the location I was pretty impressed with the level of effort they put into their look. Their uptown greenery look made me feel like I wasn't in San Antonio anymore. I don't think I recall another place in town that has so many photo ops on every inch of their restaurant! We're talking a few grass walls, neon lighting quotes, and green even decorating the ceiling lamps. They also added some cute Instagrammable seating areas if you're into that! The place felt well lit & clean, and they had a decent amount of people there without seeming congested. The menu was pretty large, with brunch, burgers, and taco oriented choosings. They also had a pretty decent variety of drinks, 3 were just variations of lemonade, yum! Food tasted great too in my opinion. I got the street tacos and I couldn't tell the difference with the vegan asada. My sister had a burger & felt like it was decent, but it didn't stand out to her. I suggest picking and choosing what you get from here, or asking the staff for recommendations, like I did! I've tried most of the vegan spots in town, & this is probably one of my favorites. It seemed like vegan fast food and maybe that is the concept. But it seemed to take a long time despite few people in the restaurant. The street tacos had a ton of onions which I'm not fond of. It also had a lot of avocado which was great. But the taco filling seemed very salty and I was expecting something that seemed fresher and healthier. I did eat it all lol because I was very hungry. My Husband had found Plantology and had been telling me we needed to try it based on the reviews and photos on Yelp. Immediately upon seeing them I agreed we needed to give it a shot! They have a huge menu, but we ordered 3 items - the Summer Nachos, the Cali Fries and the Street Tacos thinking we were really hungry and could easily share these plates. Heck, two of them are considered appetizers so no problem right? I wish we had been hungrier because not only were all 3 plates delicious, they were huge portions!! I mention this because again, vegan food is usually limited and with vegan items usually priced a little higher than average, you normally don't get a lot of food. I enjoy the food here. I am trying to eat vegan, and this place makes the choice a lot easier. I have served their food to my family, who would never go vegan. They can't tell it's vegan until I inform them. I have had almost everything on the menu, and the street tacos and cinnamon roll pancakes are my favorite. The place is super clean, and they work hard to keep it that way. My kids are not vegan and a Church's chicken next door always calls their name. We tried walking in with the chicken, and we got told we weren't allowed to bring that in because Plantology is a gluten-free environment. A little frustrating but understanding! The people working the front are what I think of as a bad stereotype of vegans. They are always low-energy, and while they are nice, they aren't very open and inviting. I think some high-energy people who are happy to help and add to the experience would be a great addition. The restaurant has been struggling lately as I get text messages asking me to donate to keep them in business.
