Pollo Asado and Carne Asada Mini Tacos
Nichole W.

The food is just so good we returned the 2nd morning we were in San Antonio. I can't have dairy or egg anymore and was excited to find a really good place to eat breakfast. The Pollo Asado mini tacos are delicious as well as their individual breakfast tacos. My husband loved the torta. He's loves his real eggs but didn't miss them here. This is our new go to brunch while we're in town. Oh, and get the elote and pumpkin empanada!

REALLY wanted to love this place but I think the food could've been a lot better unfortunately. The first thing I tried was the birria quesatacos, and while I've never had regular consommé, so I can't tell if the one here is accurate to the non-vegan version, the one here was kind of salty and slightly bitter which I didn't really enjoy. I also got the mini tacos with carne asada and pollo asado and I thought the tacos were kinda dry. The protein itself was pretty dry too but it did have a meaty texture. I also got their pineapple agua fresca and the pineapple flavor was light and the drink itself was watery. Overall I wasn't really impressed but I would still come back to try their other menu items.

I drive by this place all the time but of course the first time I stop in is with out of town friends. It was worth the wait! The tacos are large enough to be a whole meal. I ordered La Lucha and it was delicious! I'd definitely order it again. I think this food tastes amazing for both vegans and no vegans alike. It's just delicious. I'm not a vegan. The corn tortillas are so good. And the salsas were spicy and tasty just was they should be. My friends ordered La Lucha and La Frida. They enjoyed them so much that they ordered more to go. The music was a bonus! We could've had a dance party in there.

This is a charming small business that can satisfy the strongest of cravings for authentic Mexican vegan vittles. The staff were a super welcoming and high energy. There was a long wait between ordering and eating, but we were warned prior to ordering and decided it was worth it. The food was incredible. I got to sample two different tacos and the st'k and chick'n mini tacos. Everything was fantastic. The only downside of the visit was the thick haze from the grill, which is in the same space as the dining room. The restaurant would benefit from an Improved ventilation system. That said, I would go back in a heartbeat.

I stopped into Plantaqueria while staying nearby for business. I enjoy trying vegan spots throughout my travels and seek them out. Upon entering the restaurant it was filled with something burnt. Like pretty perverse. Minus a star as it meant dining in would be unpleasant. Anyways, the employee was friendly and the menu was easy to navigate. I got the Birria, a side of charro beans and chips and guacamole. All to go. It took about 5 minutes to be prepared. During the wait I got some green and red salsa, which spoiler alert they both were quite unremarkable. I enjoy hot sauces and salsas but these were meh. No real flavor. The birria was quite good with fake meat and vegan cheese. It came with dipping sauce which I didn't find it elevated the dish. However I would get it again. The guacamole was good. The chips crisp but covered in oil. The charro beans were good. All in all I enjoyed the meal however I had higher hopes. I will try them again but likely order something else.

What a good surprise to find a good vegan taqueria in San Antonio! My husband and I were visiting from Austin, and we found this gem. We ordered one mini taco plate and a full taco. Our favorite protein was the portobello mushroom one. And their horchata was really yummy as well, made with coconut milk! The service was exceptional, served Michael was super friendly and took time to explain each item and gave us samples to try before we ordered as well. Please stop by to try this beautiful place out!

As we were inspired by the history of almo, we decided to have Mexican foods instead of Italian! We googled it and found this vegan restaurant near the river walk! As we walked in, a friendly staff, Micheal, supported our visit there and gave us good explanations for the foods we were choosing. He gave us some samples for the protein items! That was brilliant and very helpful and we were able to get the ones we wanted at the end! We got the mini tacos (4 mini tacos), single taco and a delicious horchata! Personally, portabello mushroom ones are the winner of the night but they were all good! Love to have nice vegan restaurant like this in Jarrell, TX! Anyways, keep up the great work! Cheers

Quick stop while in town and had Very good tacos. The ordering was quick and staff helpful and so kind. My son loved the rice a bit different than the rice I'm used to in CA but still very good. I ordered the Birria jackfruit tacos that came with a side of broth. The broth was ok I personally didn't care for it too much but love the flavor of the tacos by themselves. I can't compare to the real deal but for vegan it was great.

I walked over here from my hotel. It seemed like it wasn't a great part of town so I got my food to go The people working here were really nice When I got back after a ten minute walk, the tortilla were still warm and intact. Usually they disintegrate and tear if you don't eat your tacos right away I thought everything was very flavorful. I got the four mini tacos. You can't get four different flavors but can get two options which is what I did I let them pick The sauce was great too. Tasted like a creamy habanero sauce that went well with the tacos It looks like a protein salad but these were very good

On a visit from Austin to San Antonio we tried this amazing restaurant. Had the best breakfast. Can't wait to go back.

Plantaqueria is a plant-based Mexican restaurant located in downtown San Antonio. There are parking meters along Broadway and Travis, which is most convenient if you're parking downtown. I had the pleasure of finally dining at this restaurant and it was a good experience. There are ~10 tables inside this restaurant and you are welcomed with bright yellow walls contrasting with pink air ducts and plates. I ordered the mini tacos (4) with carne asada and a topo chico ($17.32). It did not take long for the food to come out and it tasted very similar to the 'real stuff'. They have a slew of breakfast tacos, plates, and other sides, along with aguas frescas. I believe this is a great place for anyone looking for a vegan restaurant, albeit it's on the pricey side. Overall, good experience and I'd stop by again whilst in the area. Peace.

Food was delicious! Plantaqueria truly is a Mexican vegetarian & vegan taqueria. If you are looking for Tex-Mex without animal fat this is your place. We had breakfast tacos, 1 taco each would have been enough. In addition 2 of us shared an order of Birria tacos, the great flavor without animal flesh. So creative! The horchata was tasty & a little sweet for my preference. It's smokey inside the restaurant not too inviting.

We were only in town for three days but ended up going back for the horchata twice!!! The owners were extremely nice and even offered samples of the "meat" to try when we weren't sure what to get. Shop was clean and tidy. Great experience:)

Didn't realize this place was vegan before we went in. I was pleasantly surprised, but my kids were not. They still liked it.

That's exactly the energy at Los Weyes de la Asada. From the second you walk up, it feels alive. Not in a forced way, more like you've been there before, even if it's your first time. The kind of place where your stress, your diet, even your cruda takes a backseat. Now the food. No overthinking needed here. Everything coming out of that truck is a straight up pow pow of flavor. The carne is cooked just right, juicy with that perfect char, and the corn tortillas are legit, soft but with enough structure to hold everything together. I ordered the Mamón and the Chingón, and honestly, both lived up to the names. No misses. And the agua fresca de fresa? That sealed it. They serve it in a little bolsita, which somehow makes it hit even better. Simple, nostalgic, and just cool. We were right on the river walk, but walked through the entire restaurant on our way to be seated and every bit of it is as lovely as where we ended up sitting. The Riverwalk, however, is a people watching place and so there really isn't any place in this particular restaurant which is not gonna be pleasant. Secondly, the service is exceptional. This is a very busy place. However, the waiter was simply incredible. Very attentive, very informative quite humorous. He was frankly part of the river walk entertainment. Extremely accommodating and instructive as well. You can't hope for much more from a server in Restaurant than this activity. The food is really quite good. How are the drinks. Extremely dependable and the portions are generous and equally wonderful. There are many places to dine in San Antonio. However, this is an experience not to be missed and I mean that quite sincerely. Kudos for a very, very well run well situated and well managed enjoyable place to dine on the river walk in San Antonio.

Over-hyped, over-priced, unfriendly staff, watery drinks and terrible guacamole…read more My wife and I had a very bad experience while dining in this restaurant during the Fiesta San Antonio. Boudros was highly recommended by friends, and was the first restaurant on our list to dine in during our recent visit. We arrived at the restaurant on a Thursday around 7:45 pm and were told by a young Hostess that no walk-ins were allowed until after 9 pm. We decided to modify our itinerary and instead had dinner at a different restaurant on the riverwalk, and made a reservation for Boudros online for the following evening. When we arrived the following evening for our reservation at 7.30 pm, we were escorted to a small table in the bar that was next to the entrance to a small room. The area was noisy with a lot of foot traffic. We asked for a table in a quieter room and were moved to a room in the back of the restaurant where it was easier to have a conversation. A few minutes later our waiter, Stephen, approached the table. We asked him for drink recommendations and among others he recommended the "Prickly Pear Margarita". I ordered the Prickly Pear Margarita, and we also ordered the tableside Guacamole. The restaurant was busy, but there were several empty tables in our dining area. After about 15 to 20 minutes, the waiter brought our drinks. The Prickly Pear Margarita I received was not even close to the description on the menu. The ice was melted and it tasted like Fruit Punch with alcohol in a martini glass. A few minutes later, Stephen approached our table with the Guacamole cart. There were pieces of onions and cilantro all over the dirty table cloth on the cart. He prepared the Guacamole in front of us and it looked very unappealing. We watched as he added an excessive amount of diced onions and cilantro. Being a connoisseur of Guacamole, and making my own for most of my life, it was obvious that Stephen had not been trained well in how to make Guacamole. After he mixed the sliced avocados, the diced onions and cilantro, he wiped the edge of the stone tray with a dirty cloth. The onions and cilantro over powered the taste of the avocado. Later that evening, Stephen brought a very fancy drink for a customer sitting next to us. The drink looked like frozen lime juice with line of frozen strawberry and a nice scoop of frozen lime juice on top. I asked Stephen for the name of that drink, and he replied that it was the same drink that I had ordered. I asked why it looked so different and he muttered something about it being the end of the batch and then said "I'm not the Bartender". He blamed the Bartender for making the terrible drink, and made no effort to correct the problem. Later Stephen returned with our dinner, and as he approached our table, he ordered my wife to "move your glass!" Needless to say she was quite taken aback at his abrupt manner with no please or thank-you. In all the staff did not have a very good demeanor and were very sullen and grumpy. Even asking for directions to the bathroom barely elicited a glance and the needed information. Maybe the staff was overworked because of the number of visitors for the Fiesta, but the terrible, over-priced food, did not make up for the unhappy staff, and we do not plan to return.

The atmosphere and lighting create a very intimate vibe, and the darker setting really helps it stand out from other restaurants in Laredo. Just a heads up -- they do have a dress code, which honestly adds to the overall experience. The food was excellent. I ordered the chicken mushroom plate, and all the flavors were bold and well balanced. For drinks, I highly recommend the Jardin Eden. The fusion of lavender, blueberry, fruity liqueurs, and aromatic herbs made it one of the best cocktails I've had in a while. My only complaint was the service. We had a party of 10+ people with only one server assigned to us. He was very kind and professional, but it was difficult to find him throughout the night, especially when we were trying to pay our checks.
