The food was bland, if not for the green salsa, it wouldn't have been worth it. I ordered the Carne Guisada and Enchilada plate. Nothing on the carne guisada plate had flavor. The enchiladas were average but again, rice and beans were flavorless. The tortillas were good and authentic. The two young ladies that were working their tails off deserve a raise. This experience was horrible we paid about 200 dollars only to get half of our food missing a steaming plate of fajitas only to get little food on and half of it burnt. My husband got sick from the food almost emedietly after. Not including the fact that the restaurant charged for absolutely everything down to the tortillas. Also not letting us know about how much charge on simple to go cup almost a dollar. And the fact that they charged for there tip include 3 times so she maid for 15 also not telling us it was included. During my trip to SATX, I made it my mission to find the best breakfast tacos. Like literally, eat my weight in tacos (I'm a big girl too lol). And this was a place I could fulfill my wish. Their tortillas are fantastic, like melt in your mouth goodness. A judge of a great Mexican restaurant is their refried beans. The servers were so nice. Our one suggested the ranchero salsa to have with breakfast. Now, I'm a "eyes watering heat" salsa type...but I was so glad she recommended it. I actually had issues choosing the salsa, they were all great. So I left SATX, and I had a sad since I wouldn't be going to Mi Casa anymore. So I guess I need to just visit again! What a great breakfast taco meal in downtown SA. Try Mi Casa if you're a chorizo fan. The tacos were delicious with homemade tortillas and a moist chorizo with egg taco. The plate came with spicy potatoes, chips n salsa, with a side of bacon. The green salsa is very hot and one of the best green salsas I have tried. The entire staff were friendly, responsive, and the food is prepared fresh in minutes. You can order take out from the front register or have a nice meal inside. Plenty of large tables for families seating if you're dining inside. I was so excited to try this place. Long stroll from my hotel but a lovely walk on the river path. I ordered at the counter, I didn't know if they had table service. She said chips and salsa would be a charge ($3+). Had the Mexican platter. Just mediocre. Refried beans the only thing on the plate with flavor, although it looked delicious! Bummer. Chips did not taste homemade and had some weird seasoning. Ate a few, left the rest. I usually take the leftovers and make chilaquiles at home but there was no point. While I was eating a group of about 10 came in and sat down. The waitress rushed over with 3 baskets of chips and salsa for their table. Wonder if they were charged $10? Bad service understaffed and bad quality food half of it was cold half of it was brought out it wasn't even complete. I end up eating last from my family because my order half of it came out and it got cold and I had to send it back and then they brought me the wrong order I had to send it back again. I had to wait to get refills and the tortillas late after 5 minutes after the food out as the food got cold. And at the end I ended up waiting another 15 minutes just to speak to management about the issue. And all that they can do is just not charge me the drinks. It just a bad experience all the way around. I visit San Antonio every year around this time and this just made everything suck at the end of my trip. Unfriendly staff and management. And then to top it off they want to sit there and argue with us instead of trying to defeat it and just make things right and come to a compromise. We were staying at the Fairfield Inn just north of this place and decided to try it out for lunch one day. We had heard that San Antonio had great TexMex, but this tiny place really blew our socks off! My brother was a chef but passed away in 2021. He made the best mole sauce I had ever tasted, and which ruined me for any other mole sauce (including the popular ones served by The Red Iguana here in my hometown of Salt Lake City, Utah). I can honestly say that Mi Casa's mole sauce was BETTER than my brother's! I didn't think that was possible. During our week in San Antonio, we visited Mi Casa four times. Twice for lunch and twice for breakfast (too bad they're not open for dinner!). Chorizo at breakfast was a must-order (especially adding it to Juanita's omelet or in breakfast tacos). Delicious hand-made corn and flour tortillas. I can't say enough good things about this place! Friendly service and fantastic food. I'm actually a little bit grateful they're not in my hometown because I would literally eat there almost every day and just get fat on mole enchiladas, chorizo breakfast tacos and flour tortillas. I ordered a few breakfast tacos this morning and the register of course asks you for a tip. Normally for a to-go order, I would give like 10% if the service is good. However here, their tip options START AT 25% AND GO UP TO 50%! I left 0% just for this and will likely not return just on principle. I ordered bean and cheese tacos and took them with me. The beans were bland, like they expected you to smother it in salsa anyway. And by the time I got home, the tortilla was tough - as if it was an old tortilla they just reheated. After having lived in Southtown well over three years I accidentally stumbled upon Mi Casa when work sent me to a training nearby and ever since it's been my go-to local hole-in-the-wall kinda taco joint! I will start my review by saying I've only ever had their breakfast tacos and that every breakfast taco I've had has been wonderful. My favorites include their nopalitos egg and cheese, migas taco with avocado, and huevos a la mexicana with cheese. The tortillas are fresh, home made, and fluffy while being stuffed with wonderfully flavorful ingredients. Then I add their spicy green salsa to the mix and I'm set for a killer breakfast. I also really enjoy their chips and salsa (which is served warm). So far as pricing, Mi Casa offers quality food at a great value...that means it's pretty damn cheap but doesn't taste anything less than quality. If I had to give any constructive criticism it's that service isn't anything stellar but that being said, it's not bad either. I get what I need and am rarely interrupted. Sometimes call ahead orders are a little slow but I just chalk that up to the restaurant being so close to the apartment. Chances are that if it's a Saturday you'll most likely find me at Mi Casa kicking off my weekend with some awesome tacos. read more

These people are ruthless when they assume that you are homeless or if you look homeless. I went inside for breakfast and simply asked for the menu, and I was simply looking for a place to sit to read their menu since it wasn't busy and they forced me to sit down at the nearest seat like if I was about to be interrogated. The prices are overpriced, even for a breakfast menu, and the drinks are overpriced with it and didn't bother ordering a drink because it was already close to 20 bucks with four tacos for breakfast. I didn't waste any time in there and took it to go and got the hell out of there as soon as possible. They completely judged book by its cover. I tried out the potato and egg and the bean and cheese, but gave away the Carne guisada and they were delicious so I can imagine the carne guisada was also delicious. I didn't get full because I could probably eat about six tacos, depending on the portion size of the taco itself and the serving. This is the type of restaurant I would only come back to if nothing else was open and it wouldn't be my first choice. read more

The tortilla was awesome (but not the best in SA) and the portion size was just right. I had a picture of it, but it made the taco look pitiful, when it really wasn't. Wife and I drove to San Antonio for a UIL band competition at the Alamodome. We stayed in a hotel close by and Mi Casa was only a block away. I am not a fan of small hotel breakfast choices so I we decided to go out. Inside Mi Casa is bright and colorful with a huge intricate painted mural. We were told to have a seat anywhere and were served quickly. It was 6:30am and there were several people seated already and the kitchen was hopping. We ordered breakfast tacos and coffee. The flower tortillas were really fresh and tasted homemade. It was getting busy so we scooted out to our early event happy we decided to eat at Mi Casa. I will never come back to eat here again! We all order our meals. Got our meal with no torillas and it took them over ten minutes to bring them out. Never got salsa for our food either. My kid eat his food without any torillas and my food got cold, that I had to pack to go. They were understaff only two girls working. I asked to speak to manager, "they said they didn't have one." I asked to speak to the owners, "they said they would be with me shorlty" they never came to the counter. So the girl at the register, who I originally asked , to speak with a manager and/or owner asked why I need to speak with the owner? I said, " because I had to wait for a long time to get torillas. She said why you didn't ask for them. I told her how many times do I need to asked for them, if I asked three times and same answer each time was, "they making some." then they one brought one order of four torillas, for a party of seven, which I still didnt get any. The menu said two torillas per meal. I told the girl i want some kind of discount. She said, " all i can do is take your son and your drink off the ticket. All that wait for tortillas and to speak to manager and that's all she could do and then with attitude about it. I was so shock on her reply. Instead of saying I will take off your plate and we could move one from this bad experience. Then she calls me unhumaned becasue a couple who sat next to us, I told them "good luck with you all ordering and getting your food correct and on a timely matter with torillas. The couple said, " are they slow'? I told them they only had two girl working both the tables and register, so they decide to get up and go. The girl at the register kept calling me unhumaned and told me to leave the establishment. I reply to the girl your the diot for not using your terminoloy correct and I was already leaving, then the other girl want to jump in and start telling me to leave to, when I was already walking outside. Mi Casa is my go-to for breakfast tacos. It's just south of Cesar Chavez on Santa Rosa, so a quick bike ride from downtown. They have all kinds, and all are delicious. It's a family business, which I love; it's one of the most authentic restaurants I know. I came on Saturday, and the dining room was filled with building engineers to looked like they were just starting their day as normal. I love the energy of the place, too. Soooo, this place definitely caters to the blue collar crowd. Let me start off by saying these tacos are delicious! I'm a California boy who's here for work and after working all night, I was definitely in the mood for a good meal before bed. Showed up just after six and people were already seated ordering food. Working nights certainly makes you a little loopy so I'll assume that the stoic looking lady behind the counter was annoyed by us because we were unintentionally being annoying and not because she's just normally not nice. I had the bean, egg, and bacon taco, and the picadillo taco with onion and cheese....but they instinctively replaced the cheese with bean because they felt it was better that way. Well, I'll admit that they made the right choice. I will be back and try more tacos. This place is a diamond in the rough. The tortillas were great, but the fillings were just ok. Bacon & egg tacos: these were the best of the 3 we got, but needed salsa to give them so flavor. Would recommend adding some cheese. Migas: didn't know what to expect and wanted to try something new; were pretty plain with no flavor. I only had a few bites and decided not to eat the rest.
