    Carne guisada

The huevos rancheros w/carne guisada breakfast plate I very good and tasty, and my wife had carne guisada with enchiladas which was good too. This is a small quiet restaurant with a nice atmosphere.

Excellent service! Waited on promptly upon entering and checked on regularly. I had the Huevos rancheros with steak and beans and friend had the steak and eggs. Mine came with fresh homemade tortillas, some of the best I've had.

This is local. I am the only tourist here, and I am a native Texan. I have been many times over the years. This place is a good reminder that you can still get juevos rancheros for less than 10$ with a coffee. It's good food for way less dinero than hip places in town.

We were looking for breakfast tacos and were recommended to go to the Oasis Cafe. It was just what we were looking for. Fresh tortillas and fresh ingredients and house made salsas. Great value for the quality of food and a short walk from the Riverwalk.

    Chilaquiles with flour tortillas

Been having breakfast here for years and the food and service has never disappointed. My go-to dish is the Chilaquiles with flour tortillas. The eggs and chips are topped with a classic shredded cheddar cheese and make a great little taco if you use the flour tortilla to wrap it up in and put some of the green salsa on top. Additionally, the service is impressive with many of the servers making an effort to remember your order and make you feel welcome when you walk in the door after they notice you've been coming there frequently. Definitely recommend stopping by to give this spot a try!

I hate leaving such a low rating for a family-owned business, but our experience at Oasis Cafe leaves me with little choice. First, it should be said that the people here are extremely friendly. The place, though it's divey, is pretty clean. Parking is a pain. -- As out-of-towners, we didn't know that we couldn't park in the lot adjacent to the restaurant, so we put ourselves at risk of being towed. (We were fortunate that such didn't happen.) Most regulars during our visit were parking on the street, and there seemed to be plenty of it. We drove way out of the way to eat breakfast here, based entirely on such a positive Yelp following. I had a couple of tacos-- barbacoa and chicharron w/ egg. My wife ordered migas. Really, all you have to do is look at the photos I uploaded to see my complaints. The migas were essentially tortilla chips that appeared as if they were dipped in egg, then cooked until over-dry, with nary a leaf of cilantro. Very disappointing. ~ My barbacoa was average ... no complaints. But my chicharron and egg taco was very similar to my wife's migas. Pork rinds placed atop an overcooked egg portion, then folded in a tortilla. Perhaps Oasis has its own house recipes for these classic Tex-Mex breakfast dishes, and that's fine. But the stuff we were served, albeit hot and fresh, just seemed like it wasn't prepared with much love. Still, I wish this business well and hope that they use the less-than-stellar reviews (such as this one) to improve.

We ordered chips and salsa ($1.99) they came quickly. The salsa was tasty and not too spicy. I had Shrimp Nachos. There were plenty of them, lots of cheese and the guacamole was excellent, not a lot of stuff added to it. My husband had Carne Asada. It came with beans, tortillas and cheese enchilada. When he asked about barracho beans, Anthony brought them right away. The ice tea was strong and tasty and he kept our glasses filled. Everything was flavorful and beautifully presented. The building is new. It's very open with high ceilings, lots of windows and cement floors. There was plenty of outdoor seating. There were only a few parking spaces by the entrance. There was free parking on nearby side streets or paid parking in lots behind the restaurant. We would definitely go back when in San Antonio again. The drink menu looked fun! I didn't need extra fat from avocado after the corn cakes since it doesn't add much flavor to the dish. The corn cakes are good and I will order again but not as good as some other cornbread. It came with 2 cakes. One was undercooked and one has a crispy crust. The undercooked one was my favorite. It is more moist with soft in the middle. Tuna Al Pastor has a kick but nothing special. Tres Leches was beautiful. 4/5. I like the fresh fruits to cut down the sweetness. The cake was a bit in the dense side. The icing on top was thick. I wish it was a fluffy whip cream to cut down from all the sweetness. Overall it's still a better tres leches than other places in the area.

We sat on the back patio for dinner on a day when it was 100 degrees out and there were fans all over to help keep the air flowing, which helped immensely. They have some interesting cocktails, such as their jalapeño cucumber margarita which is made with ghost pepper infused tequila. Their salsa tray is nice too, they have 4 to select from and you get three in this appetizer, but we ordered the 4th as well and all were pretty nicely done. The verde was amazing and the roasted tomato was great, just not spicy at all. I tried their combo fajitas and was thankful they came out being simply plated, rather than on the blazing hot, sizzling skillet - I don't need the show, just the good eats. The meats were decent, the beans were amazing. The tortillas were just ok, as I felt like they were way too thick. They offered corn tortillas too, but I'm in Texas, so you get flour, not corn. Save room for dessert, they have amazing churros! Overall, this was a decent visit. Service was nice too. I'd recommend stopping in.
