Recommend: Maybe for the ambiance, outdoor seating area, and staff. Food: I honestly can't recall what specific coffee I believe it was a latte and a bar with poppy seeds. I had to get a refund on the pastry because the consistency felt as if it had been left out for a while and its taste wasn't pleasant at all. Service: The guy who was at the register was very friendly. He answered all my questions regarding the different coffees and patient through it all. Even when I went to return the pastry he was very kind about it. Ambiance: It's a very cozy little place. I think the best time to visit this coffee shop is probably during the early fall/early spring . That way you can take advantage of the outdoor patio. The parking is limited and a little rocky. Came back to my old stomping grounds, San Antonio Texas!!! My daughter brought me to this little coffee shop. It's small but very cute with nice seating. We ordered drinks and they were both absolutely delicious.! They have a food menu also with sandwiches that she says she's had before and highly recommends. The service was really quick and the people behind the counter were really friendly. If you find yourself in this area, this coffee shop blows any big chain coffee shop out of the water, you really should give it a try! read more

Came here on a whim since I was already close by, and I absolutely loved the vibe of the place and the staff was friendly. I got the barista signature drink (I forget the name) but it was a matcha with Ube, so yummy!!! It was a little too pricey in my opinion. I paid nearly $20 for a croissant sandwich that wasn't all that great, along with a small coffee. The fruit that came with it seemed overripe. The guy at the register was friendly, but he seemed more interested in his phone than greeting customers or offering suggestions to someone who clearly hadn't been there before. The young boy in the front making the coffee was so welcoming and sweet I didn't get his name unfortunately ! I told him what kind of coffee I like and he made it exactly how I love my coffee it was delicious! I got the southwest croissant which was amazing and filling, I definitely recommend this place! I stopped in for a very late lunch and was pleasantly surprised. I got the chorizo kolache and it was very good (and I don't even like kolaches very much) and the corn chowder, which hit the spot (despite it being so hot outside). I finished with a macaron, which was great, but all of their sweets looked delicious and homemade. Two suggestions (which have nothing to do with the food) 1) use reusable (aka ceramic) dinnerware and cutlery. The soup was so tasty and it was slightly jarring to eat it with a plastic teaspoon. They seem to be going for a "cozy casual" vibe and heavy dishes would contribute to that. 2) add more seating and tables. There are two long, narrow tables. There was another party there, who took up one table, and me. If there had been one more party, I wouldn't have had a place to sit. Although I don't normally love armchairs in restaurants, it seems that this place would benefit from a cozy chair in the corner, where one could eat a piece of cake. They have a few (real) plants, which I noticed and appreciated. read more

The vibes are good inside with big windows that makes it feel bigger then it is. They also have outside seating which I will be taking advantage when it gets a little colder this year. I say this is a great place for a classic VIL (Vanilla Icd Latte). It's just on the outskirts of the trendy neighborhood which probably makes it even more trendy? Philo Coffee is a great low-key neighborhood joint that offers coffee, light bites, pastries, beer and wine. It's such a cute spot!! I walked in and immediately dug the atmosphere. Looking around, there was so much community and connection going on. I did a little people watching and saw friends catching up over coffee, a first date, somebody getting onboarded for their new job, some people reading or working on their laptop. It was the type of friendly environment you want in a coffee shop and I enjoyed it. I was only in there a few minutes because I had to grab a coffee to go, but I'd love to go back and sit around a while with a good book or friend! I only got an iced latte with white chocolate syrup. It was divine! Nothing like that first sip of quality coffee. We've been touring San Antonio coffee shops over the last year and we had high expectations based on yelp pictures alone. I guess we went at a peak time since there was no indoor seating left and too hot & humid to sit outdoors but the major turn off was people sitting at the counter eating full Whataburger meals at the front counter and a manicure taking place at one of the tables. I was in desperate need for caffeine and was recommended this place any the staff at Scratch Kitchen across the street. It was very cozy and hip/cool, and they had a wide assortment of options from coffee, to teas, to wine. I got a lavender matcha as that is my go-to for caffeine and it was perfect! I sometimes have trouble finding matcha that isn't powdery/properly frothed but they know what they're doing here. I was also very tempted by the sweet treats at the register so I got a lemon bar which was delicious, sweet, and not too tart. All in all I will be visiting this place again should I ever find myself in the neighborhood. 10/10! read more

I hadn't been back to PhiloÇoffee in almost a year, and it still has the same exceptional service and beautiful lattes. I didn't feel rushed to place my order, as I had to get re-familiarized with the menu. I asked for a latte (with pretty colors) and an avocado toast. It's not often your latte matches your avocado toast. They made me the cutest toast with avocado, pickled onions (they were pink, so I assume pickled), sprouts, radishes, and an egg. Simple but super tasty. And the latte had a beautiful pink and green design on it! They use What's Brewing? coffee, so I already know it's a good cup. (and it was) But I think the thing that just overall solidified how amazing this place still is, is the owner came over and gave me a bowl of avocado, because she said the one they gave me was a little under ripe. She even seasoned it with a little salt and pepper. That small act shows how much they care about their customers and their experience here. There are tons of windows and different types of seating. It was not super busy and it was easy to find a great place to read and write. Maybe I am jaded by living in Austin but it is usually impossible to find a place to sit in a coffee shop on a Sunday morning. Besides all that, the coffee was so good. I got and Iced oat milk latte with honey and cinnamon and I really enjoyed it. I love whatever oat milk they use. They also have a really decent food menu with lots of choices for breakfast and lunch.
