Tasty traditional breakfast at a true dive restaurant in the middle of a sketchy neighborhood. In other words, the type of place it's worth hiking to from downtown. While breakfast was good, my horchata was AMAZING. I enjoyed it for the rest of the day! I would caution people coming to be situationally aware because the neighborhood really isn't the best. read more

Great service and vibe. Nice family-run restaurant with good fare. Had the Wednesday special (enchilada mole). Was very good. Love these kind of places. And close to my hotel and Riverwalk. Glad I found about about Oasis before visiting SA. Just note that they're open from 6:00 AM -2:00 PM. read more

Nice, family owned-operated type restaurant. Very affordable with good food. If you are looking for a good place for breakfast or lunch in the San Antonio downtown area Oasis is a good choice. They have ample parking next to the restaurant - a plus! Service is good with good variety on the menu. This is a very competitive option compared with more expensive restaurants in the area. read more

A true Oasis downtown. I've been coming here for years. This is as close to some abuela's kitchen as you can get without being charged with breaking and entering... Everything on the menu is made from scratch and delicious. Chilaquiles for breakfast, enchiladas for lunch, and carne guisada for dinner. Boom! The prices are the best in town! Seriously! read more

Stopped here for lunch today before going on a walk down at Woodlawn Lake- it wasn't my new favorite but it was nice to try something new. The atmosphere was inviting and the chairs were extra comfortable. The food was good but I felt like it looked prettier than it tasted. Maybe I just needed to give it a shake of salt. The dang napkins though, haha. You know how when you go somewhere and then it turns out they have one-ply in the restroom? And you're like, "aw man"... this was like that lol, only at the table haha. Had lunch there today for the first time. The food was absolutely delicious and so was the service.. However when sitting at our table and waiting for our drinks to be brought out, a baby roach was crawling on wall and made its way to our table.. I flicked it with a straw and tried killing it but lost it. Like I said, food and service was great.. but idk makes me wonder what kitchen is like?? read more

My SO and I went here three times during our three day visit to San Antonio. So yes, we may be a little obsessed. But $5.50 for a yummy, delicious, authentic lunch entree? You'd be crazy not to. Service was fast and the staff is so friendly. It's definitely a neighborhood favorite in the mornings and it seems that everyone knows everyone else. But they'll make you feel like you've been going there for years too. We are vegetarians and there were plenty of options for us although it is helpful to mention any dietary preferences you have: we did not expect the cheese enchiladas to have a beef chili sauce by default. But they were super accommodating and it wasn't an issue at all for them. The entrees were terrific, especially the enchiladas. We also had a number of tacos. We thought that the chilaquiles were all right but the chilaquiles tacos were definitely our favorite, maybe tied with the enchiladas. They also give complimentary chips with red and green salsa. Both salsas are wonderful but the green was quite spicy (and we do pretty well with spicy). To get a sense of how affordable it is, over three days we had eight tacos and three large entrees and it came out to $36 including tax and tip. Come hungry. read more

After visiting a trade show at the convention center we stopped in here for a quick lunch. I ordered three thinking they were the smaller street tacos. I could only eat one and a half. I loved them. I had one egg and potato and one bean and cheese. They were great. They also provide chips and salsa while you wait for your food. At the register they have an assortment of mexican candy with the chili powder on it. Yum! read more

This was my first time coming to this well known establishment. From the view, it's exactly what you want in a Mexican restaurant. The prices are fair and the food is good. Parking can be a bit of a challenge but I believe it's worth it. With so many Mexican restaurants in the city this place definitely stands out. read more

The best Migas I have eveeerrrrr eaten!! I added the ground beef with mine, and they were wonderful! Kids even ate theirs without complaints. Awesome place, great folks! Wow! The breakfast menu is over the top exceptional! From the moment you walk in yo are greeted by a friendly owner. The decor is very cute, clean and colorful. There are many breakfast choices on the menu. The chilaquiles tacos, carne guisada tacos, huevos ranchero plate, are generous servings. Salsas are tasty. Wow. The breakfast tacos at this place are very delicious. This is definitely a hidden gem in downtown San Antonio. From the outside this place looks a little questionable but wow is the food amazing. The eggs are fresh, the flour tortillas are hot, fresh and homemade. The cuts of meet used are so juicy and tasty. The house made salsas are very good. The service is outstanding. Very down to earth, cool, family oriented people. Such a great place for tacos. We were originally going to another restaurant a short distance away, but it was closed on Mondays, so we decided to try The Oasis Mexican Cafe that we had passed. I'm so glad we did. The service was great and the food was excellent. I got the huevos rancheros over easy with carne guisada. Everything , including the breakfast potatoes was perfect. The ranchera sauce, which I got on the side was made with fresh tomatoes and very flavorful. The eggs were just right. The carne guisada was delicious. To top it off, they served our breakfast on vintage Homer Laughlin restaurant ware platters! A great place! read more

Great location on the north side of downtown. The serving size is big, the prices are good. The service is friendly and quick. The salsa was spicy, and delicious. Parking is easy down here, and it's a great place to pop in and grab something. It's generally clean, and the decor is mainly Christmas decorations year round. However, me and my dining companion both had stomach problems after eating here. I'd give them another spin. read more

Looking for a reasonably priced place to eat (so the Riverwalk's completely out) but not wanting to walk far from the Alamo, I found this place via Yelp. Thank you Yelpers, as you did not fail me. I have already recommended this place to other visitors as well! When you walk in, there's only about 10 or so tables. There's this homey feel despite being a hole-in-the-wall kind of place. The larger tables are reserved for more than two people, which makes sense. The restaurant does not want someone who's eating solo to eat at a table for four. I feel as if this was a house, and then the tables are in the addition of the house, as there are steps within the restaurant. When you are done eating, you go up the steps into the house and pay the cashier. I ordered the enchiladas, and they were perfect. Oozing in cheese, covered in all sorts of goodness, and served with free salsa and free chips? Yes please! The plate was FULL of food, and I was just absolutely stuffed. As one who has lived in Texas my whole life, this is the epitome of TexMex food. Best of all was the price. My enchilada plate was less than five dollars, pre-tip. I wanted to give a 100% tip just for having great food, but I didn't want to set a precedence my first time. If you're visiting San Antonio and on a budget, you should definitely come here! read more

Simple place, simple review. Pros: Both the style/preparation of the food and the decor feel very authentically tex-mex. Super low prices. Super tiny so you can avoid crowds if you want. Cons: You get what you pay for, the food pretty low quality. I would barely give it a 3. Overall: The very mediocre food quality is helped by the fact that it is at least authentical in style. The decor is also a genuine pleasure. This place also gets an extra little bump for being authentic in a touristy area. read more

Food was good. Homemade tortillas. Meat was a little chewy on the guisada but flavor was good. The huevo rancheros was awesome, ask for extra sauce. The bistec ranchero was more just chuncks of meat and they give you ranchero sauce on the side. I'm used to the meat being cooked in the sauce but was still ok. read more

Delicious! One night in San Antonio and was looking for a breakfast burrito. Stopped by the Oasis. I didn't see any burritos but I got the chilaquilas. Perfect serving for breakfast and reasonably priced. It came with homemade flour tortillas that didn't need a thing on them. The beans were so good. I could have just had a plate of them. Definitely will be stopping by again next time I'm in town. read more

I am a San Antonio native and know a good taco. Unfortunately, at 9:30 am, we order breakfast tacos and were very disappointed. The tortillas were cold as well as the ingredients. So these tortillas and the ingredients had been sitting around for hours getting cold. Why serve breakfast cold? There is a reason why the place was empty. Maybe one star. read more

YASS! good cheap food in touristy area menudo- pig feet, intestines, skin. yes please. had a very porky smell to it (which I love) ate the whole bowl with a big smile on my face green chile chicken enchiladas- yum. and tasted a bit healthier than the other options. barbacoa tacos- 2.50 each and were pretty rinky dinky. this would be a no for me. horchata- delicious and not too sweet. It seemed like a very authentic place, and that's coming from a resident of Michigan. A resident that eats Taco Bell. A resident who eats Taco Bell and think's THAT'S authentic Mexican. The first thing I noticed was that this place did not seem to serve burritos. Not a marker really for me, but it was something I've never came across before. I also thought that you were stuck ordering enchiladas or tacos in a meal type of setting. Upon further questioning, you can order a la cart. That was a relief. I ended up ordering the enchiladas Verdes because sometimes I ignore my color palate and go for green. And because I can't just stop eating one form of meat, cheese, and sauce, I ordered a taco. Actually, I just ordered a taco because I wanted a dryer enchilada. Or did I order the enchiladas because I wanted a wetter taco...I don't know anymore. Anywho, I ground beef, American style taco. We ordered the Tosti-Ceviche Verde, Panela Asado, Mexican Street Corn, and their Spicy Bean Dip. The Ceviche Verde was excellent, the freshness of the fish and shrimp was wonderful with the chipotle mayo and avocado. We chose to have it on the salsa Verde Tostitos and it was all great combination. The Panelo Asado was a completely new dish for us and was extremely good with a savory flavor from the salsa Tlaquepaque that mixed well with the Panela cheese. Their tortillas though not made in house, are made for them and taste like mom made them. The Mexican Street Corn was great and had the perfect bit of char taste from the corn. It was creamy and flavorful, we did think it could use just a tad more lime juice though. The Spicy Bean Dip was very good. You can't go wrong with Oaxaca, Chorizo, and pieces of pork mixed with some mildly spicy beans. Our server was fantastic. She had great recommendations for us, and was quick with checking on our drinks and generally helping us throughout our dinner. The food was prepared quickly, was hot, tasteful and refreshing. We definitely will be going back, and recommend Pan Fila to all of you.

I am definitely a fan of this place. Great location and atmosphere. Must go for the Happy hour. Good drinks and yummy tacos. We had excellent service and we sat at the bar. They were super busy but clearly the staff was working together to keep their customers happy and clearing spots for the next people. Get some chips and salsa while you wait for your food and try all the tacos! read more
