I was flipping through the one thousand plus photos on YELP for the Cove and that brought back great memories of the many times I have brought an out-of-towner to this place. The playground is visually well kept and there's not a spot where you could sit and eat where you can't see the kids playing. Went on a busy Saturday night so, there was understandably a wait (roughly 45mins) from the time I got in line to the time I actually got my food... There is a huge selection of draft, bottled, and canned alcoholic drinks! My burger was cooked well and tasted good. Food was yummy, not the best ever but definitely not bad. Service with a smile at the counter is always nice and we had no problem pulling into a parking spot for lunch. I also love the spacious outdoor seating with covered playground for kiddos!! The two main issues I had are the pricing for amount of food (way overpriced for tiny portions of average food) and secondly everything is dirty/sticky. It gives dive bar vibes which is fine but for a family friendly place it is very grimey. I came here this past weekend with the family to relax and enjoy some good food. I like how this place has a car wash and a laundry mat right next door to the eatery. It does have an indoor and outdoor seating area and even a playground for the kids to go to while you wait. Really like the art around the walls outside and there are even a few bars there you can order some beers. You would order your food at the front, take your number and sit somewhere for them to bring it out to you. The people that work there were chill and nice. Very patient while we were figuring out the menu and got us everything we needed. Even when my family spilled their soda the lady that served us was nice and got it cleaned up for us very quick. Good service overall. You do have to be patient as it does take a bit to get your food but it was worth the wait. I had an egg-ceptional burger and was delicious. Very good size burger for me. We also had the supreme nachos that looked very pretty and also had this cute heart shaped chip on top. I also really like how they offer vegan/glutten free option so people can eat more than just a salad if they want. My family really enjoyed the food very much and want to come back in the future. A true champion family gem or just another place that didn't quite win the race? Here's a closer look. Parking We visited The Cove for the first time after hearing a lot about it, and admittedly, our first impression was a bit uncertain. The location and shared space with a rundown car wash and laundromat gave off a slightly sketchy, almost "Knockturn Alley" vibe. That said, once we found the dirt parking lot in the back (which isn't immediately obvious), there was actually plenty of space, much more accommodating than the front. Seating and Playground The outdoor dining area is large and offers plenty of self-seating options. It has a relaxed, country style atmosphere that's great for enjoying a meal outside. Just keep an eye on your food, as birds are definitely part of the experience. The playground was in good condition, and the kids were clearly having a great time, which is a big plus for families. Ordering The indoor ordering area is...unique. It somehow felt both clean and not at the same time, with a noticeable odor upon entering. The menu offers a solid variety of options, which is a positive. However, the drink station looked dated, and the ice machine had visible mildew, which was off-putting. I skipped the ice for that reason, though the soda itself tasted fine. The Food Overall, the food was just okay, nothing particularly memorable or worth going out of your way for. The roasted salsa stood out as the highlight, with great flavor and spice, but the portion felt small for the price. It came in a tiny ramekin alongside a large serving of chips, so it ran out quickly. The Good-a burger was well-cooked and enjoyable, but not something I'd crave again. The shrimp and fish tacos were comparable to the burger, with the fish taco being the better of the two. The shrimp taco had a strong earthy flavor, almost like eating a garden, which may appeal to some but wasn't a favorite. The fish taco was more balanced. Surprisingly, the fries were the standout side, outperforming both the tacos and the burger. Final Thoughts In the end, the kids had a great time, which is really what a place like this is about. The food is decent, but not a major draw on its own. If you're okay with the salsa portion for the price, it's worth trying. While we likely won't return, mainly due to the distance and lack of standout dishes, it's still a solid option if you're nearby and looking for a family friendly spot where kids can play and everyone can grab a casual meal. The Cove, what can I say other than a really inviting family atmosphere and kid friendly, amazing local beer draft selection and decent food options. I was not wowed by the food, the cheeseburger was good along with the fries, a bit soggy, and the shrimp tacos are good nice grilled flavor lacking of a side of lime otherwise pretty good after drinking a few beers. The staff is friendly and very fast at taking your order and cashing out. I had to tell them twice to take the burger off the bill because I asked about the sweet potato fries and what kind of seasoning they put on it and at first they couldn't tell me because they didn't remember so I said can you please look it up and they said sesame seeds and I said do you put them on top after the french fries are done or do you mix them and then cook with them and then put more on top and so the Person Said yes it's the sesame seeds but they did not say that they put it on top afterwards so I said please don't put any sesame seeds or any type of seasoning on the french fries after they've been through the fire cooking time, but they did not listen to me and they put all the salt in all of the sesame seeds on top of the sweet potato fries after I did not want them And I had to send everything back twice because what they did in the first place is that they took my burger back with my sweet potato fries, but they only fix the bun which they gave me a brand new bun which was not black and burnt, but they left the sweet potato fries with all the seasoning and all the sesame seeds on it, and they gave me the same veggie patty Back at that point I was very disappointed and I had to talk to them again to take it off the bill fully. So they need to improve the recipes of the vegan food choices and they're soda selection for drink. Drinks needs to improve also.. their bathrooms are very dirty and scary looking for anybody to use because one they're not very clean and there are a lot of things that are broken inside of them and they were missing soap in the family bathroom and then the females bathroom. It was barely any soap. The kids playground was broken. Some of the things could've been very dangerous for children and yes, there's a big sign play at your own brisk but still for you to put a playground and put a sign up like that that's just still dangerous and yes, you're not liable for the injuries.
