We came to Big'z after being referred by a friend. We took a minute to look over the menu and walked up to the counter to order and right at our feet was a huge cockroach (alive)!! The two young employees behind the counter just kind of shrugged it off and one of them just came to pick it up with a napkin. We mentioned it to the lady in the dining room and she said that it can't be an infestation because it was a large one and left it at that. My husband told the manager, Zoey, and she said that they just sprayed outside and that's why they are coming inside.... She seemed more annoyed than anything that we told her what we found. Yikes. Finally.. this being Texas im surprised how many places have smashed burgers and not a REAL burger burger. They have home made chips, lots of different sauces. A simple place with good food. Burgers when I first cut into it wasn't medium but then it was. Strange how it was medium well in middle. Over all, I think burger and onion rings would use a touch of salt. I got the classic burger with fried egg and mushrooms added! The portions are very generous. For the burger, fries, and a drink, it was around $15. They have lots of beers and ciders on tap! Really, really, really good. Had the Chalupa burger. This thing was huge. It was perfectly medium as ordered. You would think the tortilla is just Kitch or novelty, but it actually serves a great purpose. The tortilla holds the refried beans in place making it far easier to eat. The addition of the pico de gallo, lettuce, and tomato make it shear flavor perfection. And I haven't even mentioned the onion rings, which have a very light batter and are perfectly cooked. Just needed to add a little salt to make them irresistible. Sweet potato fries are skinny shoe strings with fantastic flavor. We come here every time we come to San Antonioand are never disappointed. BE CAREFUL ORDERING. We have been here a few times the first time I ordered a veggie burger and they gave me a beyond beef burger, and over salted it. Beyond beef burger does not need salt added. Another time I ordered a veggie burger and they gave me a portobello mushroom burger. With balsamic vinaigrette sauce. Way overpowering and not at all what I meant and disgusting. Just want to give a piece of advice to the company when someone says veggie burger make sure they ask the customer if they mean a portobello burger or a beyond beef burger. I was still at the restaurant when I posted this review and the manager literally came to my table and confronted me about it in front of everyone. Long conversation short, she said that the menu has not changed in 20 years which is fine however, if you have two kinds of veggie burgers, the cashier should ask which veggie burger the customer would like, not just assume one. A great place for large groups of kids. We went there for a tee ball end of season lunch and it was great. Plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. Having that big open fenced in yard is amazing for large groups of kids and being able to let them run around and play. It's a burger joint; so the burgers and fries are tasty. Big'z burgers are still the same great burgers they always were! Spacious and clean establishment, great for larger parties, kids, and events. You just walk past the iced beer tubs straight to the counter. Make your selection from the various choices on the wall menu, place your order with the friendly cashier, and dream of the yum to come when your name is called! There are things that have changed, and I wish they hadn't. They used to have ketchup, mustard, and mayo pumps along with the fresh onion tubs. Now you have to ask for mayo which comes in the form of a packet. Ketchup and mustard are available in bottles at the table. Worse yet, the ketchup is Hunts. If you're serving quality burgers, please serve quality ketchup like Heinz. The fry dipping sauces were another standout feature of this restaurant that turned a burger experience into something a little more special. Nothing tastes like it should anymore. Truffle mayo? Hardly. Horseradish mayo? Definitely mayo. Couldn't detect the tiniest bit of horseradish. Cucumber dill? Can't taste either one, but you can taste the mayo. I can't imagine how much of these sauces go to waste simply because they lack the distinctive flavors of their descriptions. In summary- delicious burgers. Everything else is mid. This is a bit of a lengthy review but well worth the wait and please take some time to read and save yourself a pretty penny and time out of your day... there are far better options for burgers in good ol' San Antonio. Let me start by saying, do be careful when ordering... HAVE THEM READ YOUR ORDER BACK TO U, because if you don't and they mess up genuinely, they more than likely will read your receipt order back to u with an attitude.. when fixing the order u never actually ordered, just because the person who took the order (completely separate from the cooks and burger makers.) didn't get it right. I spent a cool $65 for a double meat supposed to be cooked at medium, but it came medium rare and really very rare to the look.. and red.. pushing rare. I added all the toppings including mushrooms, grillled jalapenos, avocado and bacon.. and had regular grilled onions and a over medium egg with a yoke sunny side up sort of look oh and cheese My lady had ordered a single patty supposed to be well done, (it was cooked to medium rare) With the beer grilled onions (NOT THE SAME AS REGULAR GRILLED ONIONS) Avocado, bacon and cheese and grilled jalapeños. We both got onion rings n fries, they were both very mid and the onion rings are very poorly battered , almost like eating an onion rings without the fried crusting.. Anywho, the beer was ice cold and great, but they didn't make that lol I received the burgers and all of which was incorrect, my burger was missing the grilled onions and had the beer grilled onions (which was okay with me but not my girl) and missing the grilled mushrooms, Well they messed up and put those two things on my lady's burger, mind u, she gets really grossed out by mushrooms especially if they touch her food and they gave her the regular grilled onions instead, well I took it to the front to have them fix it and the lady fixing it gave attitude reading back to me the receipt as if I messed up, then the lady who took my order personally came up and corrected her and said "yes that is on me, I messed up" So the lady takes my food AND WITH HER BARE ASS HANDS, takes the stuff off my woman's burger and places it on my burger, she moves my egg off the burger to fit the proper onions n mushrooms on it, WITH HER BARE ASS HANDS and removes the onions off my burger to put into my girls burger AGAIN.. WITH HER BAREASS HANDS!! ... so everything is fixed, she then grabs my egg and punctures the egg WITH HER BARE ASS HANDS , so it squirts all over the burger and buns(which is fine that happens) but to do all of that with your bare hands.. that just grossed me the hell out and it honestly felt like she did it to be rude and on purpose. I would personally never go here again and I would recommend nobody try them out either, they seem pretty vindictive when caught in the wrong, and to touch someone's food like that especially while copping an attitude is just plain out unacceptable AND unsanitary we didn't finish or eat much of the food, I was grossed out.. but I didn't want a refund cause I definitely didn't wanna deal with attitude, I had a long day and just wanted to enjoy a $65 meal.. u would think spending that much they would make sure the customer was happy.. Great place to get together. On this visit we were farewell-ing a family leaving San Antonio. Big'z on Blanco has plenty of space fo kids to play, folks to eat, and parents to chill. The burgers are huge, the double cheeseburger I ordered was cooked to perfection, but was just too big. I'd recommend just getting two separate cheeseburgers at that rate. The burgers come with fixins on the side. I also ordered some sweet potato fries on the side, and hit those up first. They were great. We arrive there at 5 p.m. on a Saturday and was suprised that the place was not full, but with the early summer Texas sun out, I could understand. Big'z put giant and delicious burgers right in your face. They don't hold your hand in having specific types of burgers. You have to take ownership and create your own. Virtually every topping and homemade sauce is available and their fries are amazing. Plenty of space on the inside and lots of covered seating outside. Go further into the property on weekends and they have a whole stage for entertainment for the family. Establishment was clean and prices were fair for the giant portions. I've recently had the chance to try BIG'Z Burgers and I'm super impressed! The patty is huge and perfectly formed! If you're looking for something different, I highly recommend you get the "Chalupa Burger". It comes loaded with Pico De Gallo for a perfect aftertaste! The Vineyard location is huge and fully air conditioned. They have a very large patio for outdoor seating and even have a "barn" ( private party room ) with its own outdoor seating. They also have a huge selection of beers & wines so the adults can enjoy some ice cold beer & wine while the kids run around and play. Vegans and carnivores rejoice! A burger joint for all... Great outdoor seating with a lot of lawn space if you have kids that need or want to run around. The Big Veggie is great. I'm usually not a fan of onions, but the beer braised onions were good. The portobello mushroom was tender and they didn't skimp on the avocado. The fries were the best! A small is still a ton! Crispy and salty and delicious. Service was quick. Tables were clean. Prices are reasonable. Good bar options and tons of soft drinks too. Got a to go order of the Big Chicken for my husband. This was my first time. You never forget your first time. My family was holding a graduation celebration. They rented out the party building. All I have to say is that it was a great time. I wish the place had more of a beer and booze selection, but just like most Burger joints, all they have is a few select choices. Still got the job done. The Party building has an indoor section with a patio under cover. The indoor section has a good size bar, but it looked like it doesn't get used very often, and it's used for storage. The women's bathroom was out of order so the whole party used the Men's bathroom. It is a one person bathroom, so it was fine. The best part of all of it was the food. It was a simple spread of salad, burgers, and fries. No special orders, which was more than good for me. The burgers were so good I had to take one home with me. It was still really good after I warmed it up for 30 seconds in the microwave. I have been wanting to eat here for a long time, and it was worth the wait. I can't wait to go back. read more

Bigz is a great family-friendly burger joint. Patio seating and some room for the kids to run around, beers for parents. Burgers can be customized with several toppings, fries are separate but sized to share, with house-made fry sauces for dipping. Personally I'd stick to the burgers, perfectly medium-rare, pick your cheese and seriously consider adding mushrooms- it's like a $2 upcharge but they're generous. What you can pass on is the onion rings- portion was good but they were all stuck together and the batter seemed underdone like they'd been taken out too soon. We we're very happy with our order! If you're looking for a burger to fill you up, this is it. I ordered the single with sweet potato fries, and the boyfriend ordered a double with normal fries. My boyfriend can put down food and typically orders doubles or whatever is the bigger burger size from the regular, and he struggled to finish it due to the size. These are definitely Texas size burgers. I'm confused by the negative reviews about how the patties were cooked, because ours were perfect, so I'm assuming the kitchen has gotten itself together. I appreciated that the bun was separate from the patty and extras, soggy buns are never great. We also got the cookie milk shake which was bomb. My only critique would be the sweet potato fries. They tasted like they had been sitting out a bit and were soft and floppy. Still wouldn't deter me from coming back or bringing friends, though! For the person complaining about the ketchup and mustard packets, uhhh it's cost effective and sensible for takeout?? It's been a while since my last Big'z burger, definitely was before COVID. We ordered delivery today for dinner. The fries were hot and delicious, as always. My burger was well seasoned and perfectly cooked. It was delicious enough that even when I was full I couldn't help myself but take more bites. I finally had to put the burger in the fridge so I'd stop eating it. My husband was amazed at the quality of his burger. He ordered his normal, a dirty burger, and it came with the bun separate from the burger/egg. He put it together, ate some of it and proceeded to show me the perfectly runny egg. How much did he love it? He told me when he was talking about wanting a burger earlier in the day this is what he wanted. Did he know that at the time? No, otherwise we would have ordered it for lunch when he started talking about eating a burger. Attended a party here. One thing with the construction on 1604 going on it is hard to see because their sign isn't very large and it blends in with the building. They need a giant white or gold lettered BIGZ sign so you can see it. Prices are ok, but the burgers are plain and only served with one small slice of tomato and a small piece of lettuce on the side. You want a cheese slice? Ante up. Or any other sides can really inflate your bill. Place was roomy and comfortable. Bigz is overall decent of your looking for a typical burger. Price of $7 for a plain burger is a little high considering it comes on a regular store bought bun. Only saving grace for it is that the burgers are a 1/2 lb per patty. If you were looking for a cheeseburger or toppings like bacon you are going to be looking at paying $10-11 and that is for the burger only. Seasoning on the burgers was standard and nothing special. On Tuesday we went for their burger of the week, but they were out of the bacon jam at 11:30am. Should've left to go to another place. The burger was alright, but the bun is store bought and plain. They need to slab butter and put on the grill to make this better, especially after all the othe burger joints take pride in the buns. Even it dirty didn't help with the bun. Oh well. We've been here numerous times with athletic teams, birthdays or just a place for the parents to drink beer while the kiddos played.
