What are the chances TWO Cava's open in North OC around the same time? Amazing. I have been skeptical about visiting after reading some of the reviews so we pushed pause on coming until recently, hoping the kinks have been worked out. Placed an order through the Cava app to avoid waiting in line at the store since it was peak dinner hour. Thankful I did as there was a continuous line of at least 5-7 parties during a Friday evening. The wait time for food pick up was roughly 15 minutes though it did take a tad bit longer. Ordered my usual grains + greens bowl ($12.50) and my usual fixin's - super greens, basmati rice, hummus, red pepper hummus, harissa, grilled chicken, fire roasted corn, pickled onions, tomato+onion, cabbage slaw, garlic dressing on the side, and side pita. Food quality and portions were up to par with the other Cava locations I've been to so no complaints. Appreciated a separate area for staff to prepare pick up orders so it doesn't hold up those ordering in person. The girl working the take out area was quick and efficient building the bowls. Only tiny gripe was the gentleman who came to help her with our second bowl - he was moving considerably slower, stopped making the bowl to chat for a bit and then forgot our side pita with our order. The Brea Gateway plaza has gotten some pretty busy with new eateries opening so you might have to park a bit further from the restaurant. read more

I don't know why the 3 stars but this place is bomb!! The food was very delicious with different options of proteins to choose from! I got the steak mezze salad with dill dressing which it was great! They added a good amount of steak and the greens were fresh and colorful. Customer was nice as the cashier was very pleasant and happy which made me happy. The wait was not bad. Cava has always been a go to for me if I want something quick and on the healthier side. This location particularly isn't terrible nor amazing. I think my only complaint is some days the chicken is dry and veggies aren't as fresh but other days, its good. It is located in a great plaza with Home goods and World Market which is a bonus! Finally a new Cava in the OC! We had been waiting for one to open near us & are excited it's in our city! My husband and I used to go to the YL location & always had a great experience & the bowls are fresh & amazing. Came here on 5/10 to grab a couple of bowls for my hubby & I & it was busy but I believe it was the first weekend it's open. There were plenty of staff & the line moved very quickly. I've been to this Brea location a few times & it's hit or miss. Sometimes the lettuce is fresh, other times it's a bit wilted. I prefer the falafel over beef or chicken, which I found, not moist. One time the guy that helped me hardly put any greens in my bowl, I had to ask for more lettuce. :0 Another time the girl was pleasant and filled my bowl perfectly. Three times at this location is already enough. Employees have no customer service skills, rude, and give skimpy portions. The lamb meatballs are all crushed and extra $6 for like 4 of them. I wasn't allowed to have a tiny scoop of rice if I chose a salad bowl when the Costa Mesa location has allowed me to do that. My small "double meat" bowl was $21. I could just go to Luna Grill and get a santorini bowl with double chicken for $15, and with all the deals they give even less. My bowl tasted so funky and weird. Everytime I come here it's only because Luna Grill is too far but I seem happier driving the extra 15-20 minutes and getting them instead. I might just do that and never return to this location ever. First time at CAVA and the experience was just okay. The restaurant is similar to a Mediterranean-style Chipotle with options of a bowl or pita. You feel as if you are eating healthier, but it will cost $12.25 and up depending on your protein selection. They were out of several of my choices - specifically the super greens and balsamic vinaigrette dressing. Some of the staff were noticably lacking morale. The secondary line preps didn't seem to want to help the first line prep member out when it got busier. The fruit beverages are either good or awful. I recommend trying the Cucumber Mint Lime, Strawberry Citrus or Classic Lemonade. (You can tell which are good but the levels in the photo.) I don't recommend pickles in your bowl, but opt for the red pickled onions and cucumbers. If you pay extra for the Honey Harissa chicken, it is flavorful but does have a mild spiciness to it. read more

This is an average score between my boyfriend and I. He got a chicken bowl and loved the ability to customize it any way he could. The flavors were strong and the chicken was tender. For myself, I got the steak bowl because I saw them just take the steak off the grill. By the time we went to eat, the steak was chewy and tough. The pita chips are the reason I would return. The service was okay. It was right at the end of the rush and I could tell the guy helping us out really needed to take a break to catch his breath. Great Mediterranean food. I had the Greek chicken pita what a delight. Their pita so fresh along with their sauces in the pita . Olives pickles their assortment inside my pita so worth it. We love Cava but will have to give this location 3-star. We've frequent here several times given we do not live too far away. For the most part, the meal hasn't really fallen short but they are extremely understaffed and the line is often long. This always results in a really long wait. BRIT IS THE MAN!! I came here for dinner and was honestly impressed. It was my first time here and the setup feels similar to Chipotle but with Mediterranean flavors, which I loved. I built a bowl with saffron basmati rice, grilled chicken, hummus, and some crazy good harissa honey chicken. Everything tasted fresh, and the portions were solid (definitely worth the price). What stood out the most was how customizable everything is--you can mix so many bases, dips, and proteins, so it never feels boring. The staff was friendly and patient while I figured out my bowl combo (I definitely took longer than I should have). The vibe inside is clean and modern, with plenty of seating if you want to eat in.
