The food was tasty, but the packaging was confusing. My container was labeled "vegan," even though I didn't order a vegan sandwich. I had to go back inside to ask if I had been given the wrong order. Fortunately, the employee opened the container and confirmed that it was my correct order. I told her my husband was going to be upset because he definitely didn't want a vegan sandwich! I usually visit the Eagle Rock location, but since I was in the area, I decided to give this location a try. I am a hard person to impress when it comes to food. I don't take giving a restaurant a 5 star review lightly. This one deserves it. The restaurant is clean, service outstanding, staff know the menu, and the food is ridiculously good. We walked in and the place was packed. We asked the person at the counter what she would recommend since it was our first time eating there. The lady suggested the fries (half sweet potato/half regular fries), the Zesty Pita, and Quinoa Salad. We ordered everything she recommend and the food arrived quickly. The food was so delicious! My group all had different dishes and everyone enjoyed them so much. The young woman behind the counter was totally delightful, taking orders, serving us drinks and food arrives at your table after ordering at the counter, this works well for groups of people like ours. The pricing is extremely fair, the wine perfectly chilled , the ambiance is very pleasant no loud TVs so we could all talk. This is one of our most favorite places to dine. If you are looking for authentic, healthy Mediterranean food, I would look elsewhere. Everything is cooked in sunflower oil, which is not part of the Mediterranean diet, and when heated to high temperatures, causes heart disease. The restaurant itself felt clean, and the girl at the register with the fun caterpillar earrings was super friendly and pleasant. They also have a cute little point system where you can win food prizes, which made it feel almost like a fun arcade touch. Was soooo excited to hear Spitz was opening up a location here! I first tried Spitz at their Studio City location back when I frequented Universal Studios often. I LOVED that place. Their street cart fries and street cart doner wrap were so good. 10 years later, here I am having Spitz again at their Placentia location. This location has the same funky, eclectic vibes. Board games are available for use by patrons. Everyone was friendly. Food was as good as I remember it, though I will say, the street cart doner wrap seemed like it was lacking in sauce and was a bit dry... might have to purchase extra sauce on the side, unfortunately. I do recommend getting the street cart fries, you won't regret it. I stuck with original potato fries and added protein (beef/lamb) on top, but they do offer sweet potato fries to as a substitute. Prices are reasonable. My only complaint here is the wait time. It seems like it's intended to be a fast casual restaurant, and you pay at the register first then wait at a table of your choice for your food to be brought out. However, we waited a good 20-25 minutes for our to-go order to come out. It was a Friday night around 7pm and the place was about half empty, at first. By the time we left, there was a decent wait at the register but no one staffing the register as they seemed busy with the back kitchen or delivering food to the waiting tables. This place is amazing!!! I went 3 times while visiting family at the local hospital and everytime the food, the service and the music was amazing!!!! I asked the owner the first time what was his favorite and I ended up getting it all 3 times. My aunts also got the same thing each time: the wings, the sweet potato fries, the Greek salad, the cucumber limeade and the cinnamon sugar pita strips. You will leave stuffed and sooo satisfied! I am obsessed with Spitz. I come once a week or two. I usually get the same thing when I come because it just hits the spot. The O.G. gyro with lamb and beef is absolutely delicious. It's a big portion size, you definitely get your money's worth. The sweet potato fries are a must as a side. The Agua Fresca Cucumber Limonada is sooooo good. The Placentia location is in a strangely laid out shopping center so I think a lot of people get it to go. Which is too bad because the vibes are super fun. Owing to my love of the Mediterranean diaspora and their extraordinary cuisine, I cannot in all honesty call the Spitz gyro the best in the business. Doner G gives you more protein and the quality of their bread surpasses Spitz. I'd stipulate that Spitz's gyros are on a par with Georgie's Mediterranean. The service was fine, to the extent that I ordered takeout and had minimal interaction w/ the young lady behind the counter. Like its namesake Olympian, Mark Spitz, who swept all seven swim events at the 1972 Summer Games in Munich, Spitz deserves a GOLD MEDAL for having what is most assuredly the coolest restaurant restroom, ever! (5/5) **Medi Bowl (Chicken): This bowl already comes with tzatziki and they also provided an extra little sauce cup of it on the side for you sauce lovers. Very fresh and delicious! (5/5) **Sweet Potato Fries: I generally don't order sweet potato fries but this was easily the best I've ever had. It wasn't overly seasoned at all and the flavor was amazing.
