I've given all I can But we're still on the payroll Braised Lamb Burrito w/ Masala Tots from #MaastIndian
    Mojo S.

Toby has a theory that all language is about communication, about transmitting ideas from one person to another, so if those two people only speak one language like English of course they're going to speak English to each other. It's different with polyglots like herself. She knows shy of ten language so she's always meeting folks that can speak English and one other language. And she says sometimes the best way to get ideas across is to seamlessly switch between them if they other person is capable of appreciating both, using phrases and constructs from one where the other language is weak in. It's the same with food. Sometimes I believe that the best food is taking one thing that a cuisine does superbly and melding it with another aspect from another cuisine because they do that superbly. Maast has good Indian proteins and sauces, and is willing to utilize other types of delivery systems like burritos, munchwraps, and tostada bowls to make dishes that are more than the sum of their parts. My braised lamb tucked into a burrito was insanely tasty and innovative. I don't know if I've ever had a burrito like it. I mean--I've had goat burrito, which is the closest equivalent. But even that was more of a Mexican classic birria goat than anything with Indian roots. This was an a true Indian burrito. I think the closest equivalent would be when I had the bulgogi chimichangas from Cha Cha Chili, the great Korean/Mexican fusion place that closed some years ago. In short, my lamb burrito rocked and I think the whole CYO entree system at Maast rocks as well. The service is great, going over the whole menu with me and the rest of the party and even answering questions when I had them about how it all worked. They were fast. They were helpful. That's all you can ask from a staff. The ambience was good too. It had lots of seating. It had that nice state where it was busy enough to have other customers going in and out, but not so much that it would be hard to find a seat. It was a clean and buzzing environment, but not so loud that you can't hear yourself speak. But I think the best selling point is that they're trying out some great pairings between Indian base ingredients but expressing those thoughts in a more Mexican-grounded system. Like Hannah said, it really is the best of both worlds and I can't wait to try more of their menu next time I come.

Had a fantastic lunch here today! Great friendly service. Appreciated the explanation of the menu -- fusions (tostadas, burritos, etc) or curry bowls were among the main features on a pretty vast menu with numerous sides and Mac and cheese options, etc. I ordered a bowl with 1/2 chicken, 1/2 mixed vegetables korma curry that came with super fluffy, perfectly cooked rice and paratha (a delicious flat bread), and a side order of 3 samosas with cilantro chutney. The chicken was super tender and the vegetables were perfect. Great portions too. I ate half for lunch and will enjoy the rest for leftovers. Really wish they were serving naan, but that will come later as they build out their kitchen. They let you customize the heat level of your curry -- I selected hot, and the server asked if I wanted it at an 8 or 10; I selected 8 cause I love spicy food. This food was next level spicy and your girl could've had medium, lol. Still flavorful though. Very delicious curry. I'll be returning soon!

Finally stopped in for lunch to try this indo-Mexican fusion restaurant. Warmly greeted by Rachel who kindly explained the family owned restaurant with its beautiful hand drawn chalk mural, and the menu. We tried the parathadillas one with paneer and the other with channa chole. Both delicious. They allow you to customize the spicy level and protein, and fillings. We also met the chef, who explained their catering services. So glad to have an Indian quick bite spot near by!!!

2026.05.14 lunch party of 2 I wasn't sure what to expect but it wasn't a gem of an Indian street food restaurant surrounded by a Dunkin' donut. Sweet little patio however it's flush to the donut drive through so I don't imagine anyone fully enjoying sitting there unless there was a large hedge or bamboo divider to give the illusion of privacy, That being said, the inside is lovely and far removed from what I expected. Everything is clean and new. Let's talk food. Shout out to the titles on the kids menu. Pick your vehicle pick your protein add a side. I wanted to try something different so I went with the parathadilla bc I love a good crispy flatbread. You had me at braised and if it's lamb I'm with it. My inner child wanted tots and we did it smothered in masala and cheese. I've never had noodles at an Indian restaurant so we decided to give the Hakka noodles a shot. We made those vegetarian with egg. Last but not least? I had my eye and my heart set on the kesar pista cheesecake. Service was attentive and cheerful, we got to hear some Dunkin donut confusion anecdotes and a promise that food is expedited at top speed around here. True to their word the food was out at lightning speed. They asked if we wanted the cheesecake now or later. I would've said now but my friend requested later so I had to concede. The parathadilla was a ticket to flavortown. We ordered medium spice which had a little kick but nothing scary if you're tender tongued. Love the tender crisp shell and The lamb? SO NICE. Fresh and braised. My friend normally doesn't enjoy lamb due to some residual taste aspects but said this was not what they expected. Tots hit, crispy not oily nor soggy. Hakka noodles decent. Star of the show? Kesar pista. Chilled from the refrigerator, creamy, not overly sweet with that pistachio and a gorgeous crumbled crust layered at the bottom. I will definitely be back just for that. I've eaten a lot of cheesecake in a lot of places and this is one of my favorites. Hope you like it! Support local businesses, welcome to the OC!

The lady in the front servicing us was awesome. She was warm hearted, patient and professional. She took care of us nearly like a fine dining restaurant. This Indian cuisine is new to the neighborhood and is well worth the visit. The Naan was made in house and delicious. They also have a multitude of curry and also unique and great tasting. Our favorite is definitely the lamb curry with traditional masala curry. The only negative comment would be the menu choices are too broad and a bit confusing and overly complicated.

    Best dessert for $5!!!

This was the best dessert I've had in years and it is only $5. I will be happy to come back daily just for this. Everyone is so nice. Absolutely recommend! Wonderful place to hang out and relax while having a wonderful meal.

The service and ambience are great. Our food came out very fast. The concept of casual fusion food is very creative. There is a parathadilla (paratha folded over with your choice of filling) and munchwrap (indian crunchwrap). I like that you can customize your dish. The kids menu is really cute. All the dishes are named after things that kids say at restaurants (e.g. "i'm not hungry" is a chocolate chip cookie). They also have more traditional dishes if you aren't feeling adventurous. The food itself was not very flavorful and we were disappointed. The pani for the pani puri is sour. The bhel was really nice. The garlic naan felt uncooked inside and burnt on the bottom. The masala chips were a table favorite, potato chips with chutneys drizzled on them. The paneer mac and cheese was also pretty bland. We were excited to try this place but we presumably probably won't go back unless the food quality improves.

I've been to lots of Indian places in the area - you can stop you search here. The owners are a genuinely wonderful family and the mom is lovely! But the food is even better! I recommend the lamb coconut curry - so good! I'll be back soon and telling my people to go try it for themselves

Maast is in its soft opening phase, and it's a great experience so far. So much care has been put into the experience. The atmosphere strikes a balance between relaxing and upscale. Since working through the stages of opening, the dining room had a few small parties. The staff was incredibly attentive, personable, and kind throughout our dining experience. We've had Maast when it was part of the Smart Kitchen during COVID, so it's been years. The food is even better than we remember. The menu is an eclectic fusion that still manages to pay homage to its Indian street food inspiration. It's a fun new spot with delicious bites! We ate our food too quick to get a pic and only thought of it when we ordered dessert, but we'll be back for more. We ordered: A Butter Chicken Tostada Tokri Samosas Pani Puri A kids Mac (huge serving!) Mango lassi Kesar Pista Cheesecake (topped with crushed pistachio)

    Kesar pista cheesecake is phenomenal!
    Kiota L.

Update: went again recently and while the fries were still great, my husband and I both agreed that the burritos were less flavorful, as the sauce was thinner. I also found a hair in my burrito, which I understand occasionally happens, but it made me wonder about kitchen adherence to hairnet usage. Good service as usual

Ordered the Hakka Noodles with Chicken, the Munch wrap with Chicken, Masala Queso Fries and the Kadhai Curry bowl with Chicken and Paneer

The customer service was great from the start. The woman helping us was kind, helpful, and walked us through the options. Since it wasn't busy, we were able to sit wherever we wanted. The restaurant was also very clean and well-kept. The buffet was $25 per person and included all-you-can-eat food plus drinks like mango lassi, canned sodas, and water. They also had Indian beer available for an add't $5. Everything we tried was delicious. The Chicken 555, their house special, was amazing with the perfect mix of chili and spices. The garlic naan was fluffy and fresh, and both the butter chicken and tikka masala were excellent + their other options. The owner, was also very welcoming and attentive. He checked in often to see if we needed anything, and when the garlic naan ran out, he let us know a fresh batch was coming. Once it was ready, he brought it straight to our table. I'd highly recommend this place. The food was fresh, the quality was great, the restaurant was clean, and the service made the experience even better. I'm definitely looking forward to coming back with friends.

That clue should've warned me to go elsewhere. When I arrived, there was only one family dining in the restaurant, and the gentleman who took my order was very polite. One thing that stood out was that I wasn't asked what spice level I wanted. As he packed my order, he mentioned that he included extra samosas because they were small, and he also said something about the curry being better than the vindaloo. I didn't hear him clearly, thanked him, and headed home. After unpacking the food, I realized he had simply substituted our vindaloo with chicken curry without asking me to make the change. We ordered vindaloo because that is what we wanted. If the restaurant was out of it, the appropriate thing to do would have been to ask whether we wanted to choose something else or cancel that item. Deciding for the customer and swapping in a completely different dish is simply not acceptable. The experience also made me wonder whether some of the food had simply been scooped from what was left on the buffet rather than prepared fresh. The curry and samosas tasted as though they had been sitting for a long time. The garlic naan was excellent, although we ordered two and only received one. The chicken curry was so salty that each of us took only a spoonful before throwing the rest away. The samosas were dry and lacked flavor. The tikka masala was decent, but it was not enough to salvage the meal. We ultimately had to find something else for dinner. I'm not sure what changed. We ate here a few years ago and really enjoyed the food, which is why we came back. This visit was nothing like our previous experience, and it was disappointing because we remember the restaurant being much better. I hope this was just an off day and that they'll return to the quality we experienced before.

Spice Social in Fullerton delivered a refined and memorable dining experience from start to finish. The ambiance is elegant, inviting, and thoughtfully designed. It strikes a balance between modern sophistication and comfort, making it well suited for an intimate dinner, a relaxed evening with friends, or a polished casual outing. The food was excellent. Each dish was beautifully presented, full of flavor, and clearly prepared with care and attention to detail. What elevated the experience even further was the service. The hospitality was exceptional, and the owner personally took the time to come over, greet us, and ensure that everything was to our liking. That level of attentiveness added a gracious and personal touch that made the evening feel even more special. One of the standout qualities of Spice Social is its broad appeal. It is an excellent introduction for diners who may be less familiar with Indian cuisine, as the menu feels approachable while still offering depth and authenticity. There is a subtle contemporary influence in some of the flavors and presentation, which makes the experience especially appealing to those who appreciate familiar elements alongside traditional Indian delicacies. I would return without hesitation and highly recommend it at any time.

Service was not warm to start, but it got worse after they brought me overcooked salmon when I ordered Chilean sea bass. I told them there was a mistake and the waiter tried to convince me it was sea bass. Sea bass is white and salmon is pink with a completely different texture. He did not apologize but returned my salmon to the kitchen. Good thing I ordered garlic naan which ended up being my lunch. It was good. They even included jalapeños on it at my request. It's actually hard to overcook sea bass but they managed it. A lady came by and did apologize saying something about the fish being lost in her translation. Her English sounded perfect to me. I just smiled and said it was ok but I could smell the fish coming before it hit the table. Super fishy. But maybe it would be ok. I took a bite and another just in case I had it wrong but it tasted old. Chilean sea bass is supposed to have a buttery soft texture. It just smelled, tasted and felt old. I let her know. She went and told the waiter who I could see shaking his head. He didn't return to serve us. She closed out the bill and removed the fish at my request. If that was it I would not have left this review because cooks have off days sometimes and there are hundreds of restaurants I've eaten at that just don't need a review. But the attitude I got was uncalled for. She said they served 3 and nobody else complained. Well that was awkward. After 3 they should have known the difference between salmon and sea bass. I really enjoy Indian food. Just not going to enjoy it here. I hope this review helps other diners.

It appears to be family run and there was no one to welcome us in or tell us where to sit or how to order for about 10 minutes so we seated ourselves. It didn't help that the goth daughter was extremely strange or introverted and non communicative. The owner and workers also didn't seem friendly to outsiders if you know what I mean. The seating arrangement is terrible as they set up for large tables (visitors appear to come in large sizes/families) and you get stuck behind the chairs due to poor spacing. Since there might not be many options, I think they receive very good business from Muslims and halal eaters. In terms of food, I don't think I liked it and it gave me extreme heartburn and I love spicy food. The popper/bread is too oily for me, they don't offer garlic naan for their buffets. Sadly they also did not include the spinach dish either. The offerings were mainly meat dishes which were just ok to me (I didn't really think it was BBQ as described, more like pan seared). The 3 items that I was good with were the saucy stewed beef, the BBQ seared chicken breast (although texture was strange on some), and the mango drink which had mango chunks and not the premade stuff that is really heavy. Would I come back? Likely not... unfortunately I didn't find anything that I would crave. I felt that it was more expensive than Indian food, perhaps the halal meat is more expensive? But at Indian buffets it's slightly cheaper or they offer things like champagne, and items that I prefer like garlic naan, more vegetables dishes, and curry. Maybe Pakistani isn't my jam?
