Spice Social truly deserves a review. I've been here a couple of times, and every visit has been a great experience. This was my friends' first time trying the restaurant, and they really enjoyed it as well. The hospitality and customer service were excellent, and the staff made us feel very welcome from the moment we walked in. The menu has a great variety of food, drinks, and desserts. As a vegan, I was happy to have plenty of options to choose from. The food tasted fresh, was well balanced, and full of flavor. We ordered a variety of naan and breads, which turned out to be one of the best choices because everyone was able to share and enjoy them. My friends loved the biryani, shrimp tacos, and cheese naan, and we all agreed that the Desi Gobi Manchurian was a standout dish. The portions were generous, and four people were able to share comfortably. The drinks were amazing too. From the mango lassi to the margaritas, everything was well made and complemented the meal perfectly. The restaurant was clean, the atmosphere was welcoming, and the staff was amazing. This restaurant has been on my list for a while. Finally came for a lunch date. I was excited for some authentic masala chai. It was not impressive but I didn't complain. Service was not warm to start, but it got worse after they brought me overcooked salmon when I ordered Chilean sea bass. I told them there was a mistake and the waiter tried to convince me it was sea bass. Sea bass is white and salmon is pink with a completely different texture. He did not apologize but returned my salmon to the kitchen. Good thing I ordered garlic naan which ended up being my lunch. It was good. They even included jalapeños on it at my request. It's actually hard to overcook sea bass but they managed it. A lady came by and did apologize saying something about the fish being lost in her translation. Her English sounded perfect to me. I just smiled and said it was ok but I could smell the fish coming before it hit the table. Super fishy. But maybe it would be ok. I took a bite and another just in case I had it wrong but it tasted old. Chilean sea bass is supposed to have a buttery soft texture. It just smelled, tasted and felt old. I let her know. She went and told the waiter who I could see shaking his head. He didn't return to serve us. She closed out the bill and removed the fish at my request. If that was it I would not have left this review because cooks have off days sometimes and there are hundreds of restaurants I've eaten at that just don't need a review. But the attitude I got was uncalled for. She said they served 3 and nobody else complained. Well that was awkward. After 3 they should have known the difference between salmon and sea bass. I really enjoy Indian food. Just not going to enjoy it here. I hope this review helps other diners. read more

This is hands down one of the best Indian restaurant in OC and perhaps in the State of California. The restaurant is modern, clean and very spacious and I love the open kitchen concept here. Regarding the food we loved the Lamb Chops which are so tasty, the Chicken Tikka Masala and the Samosa's. Their different option of Naan bread is also nice and it blends well with the food. We visited Spice Social on a Friday evening. There is ample parking on the side streets. The ambiance of the place is inviting, offering lots of private booths that can also accommodate bigger parties. We went for the Spice Mule (Indian spices, ginger beer, vodka), Dhabha chicken curry, raita, chilli garlic naan, and their kesar kulfi. We requested extra spicy. Unfortunately, even though the main was spicy, it was mainly due to extra chili powder that was not roasted, so the resulting curry did not have the expected pleasant cohesiveness. The raita and the kulfi were good; the naan did not come from a tandoori oven. Service was slow despite the restaurant being not very busy. Fullerton and the surrounding areas have a number of outstanding Indian restaurants, so rather than coming back to Spice Social, we will probably explore one of those the next time we crave Indian food. read more

Came in on a busy Saturday night. Service can be a bit on the slower side which can be frustrating at first, but the food is so amazing, you forget all about it! I think they happened to be short staffed at the time of our visit. The restaurant has moderate parking in the back and is well decorated. It's a little bit of a smaller space with an open kitchen, so without open doors can get a bit stuffy. Got the mix tandoori platter and was so surprised at how tender every piece of meat was! Without fail this time birthday came around and I got a great recommendation from coworker and we tried this place. I have been twice now, and the lesson i've learned is this is not a good spot for lunch if you have any sort of time constraint. The first time I came with my husband, we were the only ones there, his food came out, mine never did. I had to get back to work for a meeting, so after 40 minutes I asked them to box my food to go, which seemed to confuse them. They finally figured out that I was in a hurry, and I think they hastily cooked my meal right then. I got back to work and tried the food, the sauce was so bland and the texture of my chicken dish was so off, I threw it away. Luckily my husband had brought half of his Butter Chicken Poutine with him, so I ate that for lunch, and it was delicious. It's now been at least 6 months since that experience, and I decided to come back with a friend. I was still on my lunch "hour" but this time I wouldn't miss anything if I came back late. That was a good thing. Same experience as before, there is zero sense of urgency at this place. There are at least 10 people just standing around and one person cooking, apparently they can only do one thing at a time. For the first 30 minutes of our lunch, we were the only ones there, so it's not like they were super slammed. Long story short, we arrived at 12:00 and didn't leave until 1:10. The people that work here are not the friendliest, and they don't care to check and see how things are going, if you need refills on drinks, to go boxes, or if you are ready to pay. We split an order of samosas that had good flavor, but were way too dry for me. My friend had their Mulligatawny Soup, which was FANTASTIC. Best part of the meal, so bright and light, sort of citrusy, just amazing. We each got a different bread, for me Spice Chili Cheese Naan, which is stuffed with cream cheese and jalapeños, we both really enjoyed this. She had Ambarsariya Kulcha, which the menu says is stuffed with potatoes, paneer, and spices. All we tasted was mint and parsley, neither of us cared for this. The last item we split was the Malai Kofta, four small potato balls that reminded me of hash browns, drowning in a bowl of creamy sauce that sort of tasted like a muted curry. It was good, but not mind blowing. Lunch was $66 for those items (we had plenty of leftovers), plus two iced teas, that we had to ask for multiple times and never received refills on. I'd give them a 4 for the food, but the service is just so awful. I eat out often for lunch, at restaurants in Fullerton, Buena Park, and Anaheim. I NEVER have issues ordering, eating, paying, and commuting back to the office within an hour. For a Friday night around 6:50 PM, we didn't need to wait as there were plenty of open seats. We ordered the Butter Chicken (Chooza Makhani), Chicken Vindaloo, Biryani w lamb & the Naan platter. To drink we also got a beer & a mango lassi. All the food was good! I did think the biryani was a little salty at times & the butter chicken was a bit too sweet for my taste, but overall everything was yummy. I came across this restaurant as I was doing delivery driving, and it stood out to me. It feels like an upscale trendy bar that serves real comfort food. It wasn't busy, so I felt comfortable dining in. All of the employees were super kind and generous. I ordered the goat curry with chili garlic naan, and mango lassi. It was mouthwatering and scrumptious, and it was worth every penny. I'd go back in a heartbeat. This was an upgrade from the previous Indian restaurant I went to. I even was able to split this into 3 different meals, as it is very filling. Don't let the portions fool you because it's very hearty. Their menu boasts so many options that you'll want to try everything, unlike other places. The seating at the bar is a little inconvenient just because there's no back support on the chairs, and it wiggles a little. But, I intend to try some of their alcoholic drinks next time. Our server was helpful with answering our questions. We ordered the gol gappa and chili cheese naan to start, then chicken tikka masala and vegetable korma for our entrees. We finished off with gulab jamun for dessert. Gol Gappa- Crispy exterior with spiced potatoes and chickpeas as filling. Paired with a sweet sauce that balances out the savory flavor well. Such a fun starter! Chili cheese naan- The naan is filled with cream cheese and chilies. Perfectly creamy with a kick. The exterior is buttery with a light crisp. Chicken tikka masala- The sauce is well seasoned and bursting with flavor. The chicken chunks are juicy and tender. Vegetable korma- Creamy sauce with a slight sweetness. The dish is packed with a variety of vegetables and paired well with the chicken tikka. Both entrees were served with fragrant basmati rice. Gulab jamun- We ordered ours warm. There are lots of really great Indian restaurants in the area, each one has its pros and cons. Spice Social is absolutely one of my new favorite spots and I'll definitely be going here in the future instead of down the street at Kaan Saab. Parking was pretty easy, friendly staff, delicious food, and a fun environment. The only downside is the price tag, but honestly everything is crazy expensive these days. My wife and I got 3 entrees with rice and naan and left the door with $90 less in our pockets (including a nice tip). Some other locations in La Habra are about $70 out the door, but the extra cost was well worth it in my opinion read more

We made reservations ahead of time and still had to wait an extremely long time to be seated and served. The entire experience was disappointing from start to finish. The owner seemed far more focused on the banquet and catering side of the business than the actual restaurant guests. It felt like regular customers were completely ignored. The service was disorganized, the owner was rude and disrespectful when concerns were brought up, and the food honestly was not good at all. For the prices and the wait, the quality was unacceptable. If you are going to prioritize private events over restaurant customers, then don't accept reservations you cannot properly handle. We left frustrated and regret choosing this place. This place was a hot mess--literally--when I walked in around 2:00 p.m. for a late lunch. I came through the back door into a cluttered hallway that felt more like a storage zone than an entrance. The dining room was completely empty, and the A/C was nowhere to be found, making it uncomfortably warm. I headed to the bar, only to find it packed with so many stools that you physically couldn't sit down. It was actually commical. I had to remove one just to wedge myself in. But that wasn't even the worst of it. The bar top was cluttered with used trays, the stools were wobbly and wet with some mystery liquid, and there was no foot rail. So my feet just dangled awkwardly. I ordered a Diet Coke, which somehow in this empty restaurant took a while to arrive, and when it did finally show up, it came out flat. To add to the comedy, the straw was too tall for the glass. Eventually, I gave up on the bar after my legs fell numb, and moved to the least beat-up booth I could find. So why the 5 stars? Because holy hell, the food. I ordered the Mix Tandoori Platter for $35. Which I originally thought was steep for lunch, but turned out to be worth every penny. It came loaded with truffle chicken, smoky tikka, wings, and sheekh kabab, all fresh from the tandoor. The portion was massive, easily enough for two meals. And the flavors were unreal. The truffle chicken stole the show, with the smoky tikka not far behind. The wings were solid, and the sheekh kabab was fine, just outshined by the rest. My only real food gripe? It needed more sauces on the side. Perhaps that was an option but I just didn't see it. Bottom line: If you can overlook the rough edges - and there are plenty - you'll be rewarded with food that's next-level good. Just come for the flavor, not the ambiance. read more

Let me start off by saying that I really really wanted to like this place. They're in a great spot and if they put in a little more effort, they would be so successful. My biggest issue with this place is that their bartender is rarely there. They promote cocktails on their social media but the bartender has only been in 1 out of the 6 times I've been here. When he's not there they don't serve cocktails. The service here is subpar by best. I've been here multiple times and have never had a good experience. It's usually pretty empty, but it still takes forever for our food to come out and the workers rarely come and check up on us. Whenever we ask for things they take forever to bring them out even if it's something simple like silverware or ketchup. The last time I went, my sister and I had ordered two different drinks. The waitress brought over a drink and said it had tamarind in it, which neither of us had ordered. We explained that, but she left it anyway. Then we spoke to another waiter and he asked what drink we had ordered and he just said that it actually was one of ours and that there's no tamarind in it. However, when we tasted it, it clearly tasted like tamarind. I don't know who was in the wrong here, but miscommunication about ingredients is really dangerous when accounting for people's allergies. The waitress got upset that we complained about our drink and began slamming our plates on the table as she brought them out. The food here is okay. We got Kathi rollls, paneer Hakka noodles, and bhel puri. The menu is mostly made up of snacks that are honestly overpriced for what they are. This is the second worst Indian restaurant I have been to in my life. The food was terrible and tasteless. The chicken was old. I believe the quality of the food was also pretty bad because the very same evening, I had nonstop diarrhea/ food poisoning!!!!! Their so-called tandoori chicken wings were inedible. I spat it out after one bite. Also, I ordered the mangonificent cocktail which was a diluted orange watered down mess of nothing. The samosas were super tiny and ridiculously priced. Also, they have these huge sports bar like TVs in the restaurant that was playing music videos that were very inappropriate. These videos had women inappropriately dressed and strippers dancing on poles. There was a little boy between the ages of 10 to 12 there who could not take his eyes off the TV! I walked in to order some food to go and was kindly greeted by the owner of the restaurant himself, Gursagar Singh. The atmosphere inside was perfect for a sit down with a lover or good friends. It smelled delicious so I ordered CoCo flower and the samosas. I had to add the Garlic naan and onion kulcha. The coco flower was sooooo delicious!
