Tucked inside of a mini-plaza on Chapman in Fullerton, Pita Hot has long been surrounded by Fullerton food staples such as Huntington Ramen, Roll & Grill, and Curry Hut. But where Pita Hot sets itself apart from those places is the community. When you walk in, you're greeted with smiles, a question about how your day is, and if you've been there a few times, a quick "how's the wife and kids?" Although some people may see the price tags and wince, they do not skimp on portions. They will fill your plate to the absolute brim, give you one huge pita, and send you on your way. The flavors on the food are nothing to scoff at either. The hummus, tabbouleh, and beef skewer are absolute hits. Flavorful bites with the perfect amount of balance between the acidity of the tabbouleh, the light and rich hummus, and the meatiness of the beef. The shrimp skewer is tasty as well but not something I think I'd get again. The rice pairs well with everything, and as I've mentioned before, the humongous pita they give you is delicious as well. This humble eatery is aptly named because the food is FIRE! Pita Hot's fresh and delicious food makes my favorite local Mediterranean joint seem like Arby's (JK... I actually love Arby's, but you get the gist). When I first walked in, the staff lit up and the main guy warmly said, "Welcome!" Even though it's the type of spot where you order at the counter and pay before eating, they still cared about providing an inviting ambiance and great customer service, and that makes all the difference. I ordered a cucumber lemonade and beef kebab plate with rice, baba ganoush, and tzatziki. They gave me my drink first, and I sat down and waited for my grub. A few other people had ordered before I did, so the wait was a bit long (~20 min), but it was well worth it. The cucumber lemonade was a bit too sweet for my liking, but still refreshing with a prominent cucumber flavor. You can also see bits of cucumber in the drink, so it's def not artificially flavored. When my food was ready, I was so excited to chow down! The beef was cooked to a medium, and it was so juicy and tender. It was restaurant quality with how nicely it was cooked and seasoned. The rice was fluffy and satisfying with the beef. And the side of pita that comes with the plate complemented my baba ganoush and tzatziki wonderfully. My preferred style of eggplant is rustic and mildly smoked, which this was! And the tzatziki had a fabulous texture (not too watery or thick) with just the right amount of seasoning. Friend recommended we meet here for lunch - we love Mediterranean food so why not?! Hubby and I ordered the 2 and 3 item plate. Mine: chicken shawarma, kafta with half rice half salad base and hummus + tabbouleh for my sides. Hubby got 2 orders steak and 1 order chicken kabob with rice base and double hummus. My friend opted for the chicken kabob plate with rice as the base, and salad + hummus as the sides. Oh. My. God. This is my new fave Mediterranean restaurant. Their meats were seasoned to perfection and they had the best tabbouleh I've ever had. I'm so in love. The only downside was that they didn't have sumac packs to put on the food, but that wasn't a deal breaker for me at all. The food tasted great without it. The food took a while to come out, as I later learned they cook it fresh to order. Each plate comes with a giant pita bread and also a side of garlic sauce. Great Mediterranean food! The goof from Pita Hot was amazing. Super fresh! Very flavorful and satisfying. Loved it! My husband and I were in a food coma after eating here! IT was just so good, hard to stop eating lol I got the falafel plate, and it was great! Very big plate with lots of food. It was hearty and fresh. The fried falafels were tasty! I am obsessed with the rice! The rice has so much flavor. The tabouli was very fresh. Overall, the falafel plate was a hit! I also enjoyed the French fries. They were steak fries, thick, cooked well with just the right amount of salt. My husband got the beef kabab and chicken plate. He loved both and scarfed them down! He also agreed that the rice was addicting lol the meat was good too, he said. This was a great stop for both of us! Ambiance 4/5! Cute clean place! You walk in and it just smells great, like grilled food! Service 5/5, I walked in and immediately greeted, and I asked for a couple mins since it's my first time and the gentleman was amazing! Offered me to ask any questions and to take my time! Super 5 star. I even asked about coffee and he recommended me their Turkish coffee! But I wanted a cold coffee and got a pistachio latte instead! So the food I got a 3 portion plate and got 2 beef and 1 chicken shawarma. And double hummus! Got home and opened the box! It isn't just like grounded beef! It's like beef steak sliced into thin pieces, full of flavor and almost a hint of curry powder! My wife doesn't love curry but I thought it was fulll of flavor and different than other Shawarma I had before! 5/5! Def coming back to try their other items next time! My friend and I tried Mediterranean food from here for the first time, and we enjoyed the large portions. Note that it took almost half an hour for me to get my food. The staff member had said that the food would be ready in 20 minutes. I like how the food is cooked to order, but expect a wait if ordering inside. I had the chicken shawarma plate ($15.99) with rice, Turkish salad, and tzatziki (cucumber yogurt). The meal comes in a takeout box with one piece of pita bread. My box had a large amount of nicely marinated, bite-sized chicken. The rice, provided in a perfect portion, was deliciously savory. The meat and rice were the most enjoyable parts of the meal, but the sides were adequate. I didn't expect the Turkish salad to have a liquefied texture like salsa. With minced onions, tomato paste, and spices, the flavor was vinegary and sweet. It mixed a little with the tzatziki, so I'd rather order the Mediterranean salad for something more familiar. For next time, I'd pay more attention to the pictures of the sides at the ordering counter. Also, the complementary pita bread wasn't as warm as I wished. Unfortunately, the bathroom had a conspicuously bad odor. There was a continuous air freshener, but it didn't help. The ambience was fine, and there's a good amount of space for seating. Pita Hot is easily a local gem. If you're looking for authentic Mediterranean food at a decent price this is the place for you. Let me start off by saying that everything on their menu is great. My go to order is a three skewer plate with beef and chicken kebab, rice, cucumber yogurt, and hummus. The portions here are insane. They give you so much meat and it's not like other places where the quality is lacking. It's high-quality and flavorful and always cooked to perfection. They give you so much hummus in one plate that you can easily use it for several meals. The real hidden gym here is their rice. I have no idea what they put in it to make it so tasty but it's so good! The cucumber yogurt salad is so refreshing as well. Ask for a side of the garlic sauce and the green chili sauce. The green chili sauce is so good! Each plate comes with a pita on the side. The service here is always great. All of the workers are attentive and kind. I think that this is the best Mediterranean spot in Fullerton. I always crave the chicken Shawarma and love how they prepare their rice here.
