Zectos closes at 10:00 and we were gonna be there at 9:50. Out of respect I called the number to make sure they would take the order and see if we could place the order over the phone as it was small so they didn't have to make it at 9:50. A gentlemen on the phone answer and tells me as long as it isn't a big order and we're here before 10:00 they will take the order. Cool. We get there at 9:49 and go up to the window and he tells us they've closed the kitchen and aren't taking orders. So I bring up the phone conversation and let him know we were the ones who called. Keep in mind it's the same guy who we spoke to. He's saying that he didn't say that on the phone and that he won't take our order. So I repeat our conversation word for word as he's now trying to say that isn't what he said. He then says, "I spoke to the cook and well take your order." I go up to the window to pay to pay with Apple Pay and the dude aggressively grabs my phone and is obviously in some sort of mood about the situation. Tells us to go park and he will bring us the food. He brings us the food and is being snarky and laughing and just acting like a dick. I come here decently often so it's pretty lame to see. Do better...If you don't want to serve someone. Tell them when they call that you close the kitchen so they don't waste their time driving down then have to put up with a snarky teenager who obviously loves his job very much. read more

I was in the area and decided to stop by this spot without really looking too much into it. I was a bit short on time, and when it popped up nearby I figured it would be worth trying. The restaurant itself is on the smaller side, but it actually had a good amount of seating inside which was nice. I ordered one slider and one tender with fries. I got the slider Hot and the tender X-Hot. Surprisingly, I liked the Hot slider more than the X-Hot tender. The Hot had better flavor overall and seemed a lot juicier. The X-Hot definitely brought the heat, but the flavor on the Hot just stood out more to me. The kid working the counter was a little awkward, but still welcoming and helpful when taking my order. The thing about hot chicken places is that, when they work, they soar wonderfully, but when they fail, they fail spectacularly. It's very hard to get right the balance between being pulse-racing hot and cleverly delicious. You either lose the flavor in all that heat or you just don't bring it when it comes to the promise of burning you alive from the inside. I'm glad to say that Zecto's finds that balance. I was thoroughly impressed with how good (and big) the tenders were in their combos. Not only did the sting of some absolutely flaming chicken become noticeable in the first bite, but each belt was also noticeably scrumptious as well. The service was exemplary, as the workers had my back with refills, requests for honey, and to-go boxes. They also just had a pleasant and helpful demeanor when it came to interacting with them. Also, for a fast casual spot, the size was perfect. It had lots of tables for both two and four guests, and even accommodated our six person party admirably. I also thought the location had great parking and a drive-thru option, something you don't see often in the hot chicken game. All in all, this place was great if you want something other than the usual Dave's or Clyde's, and I think I'm a greater person for having eaten there. I was feeling like having some fried chicken while visiting the Fullerton and was down the road by Holdaak but saw the almost perfect reviews Zecto Hot Chicken had and wow it was worth trying. The food was made to order and it was sizzling hot when I got my meal. I got the three finger combo and I wish I got the two finger because gee whiz, that was a lot of food! On top of that, I got free sauces, their house sauce and ranch which were great. Service here was also good, the cashier brought me my food and also asked if I wanted anything at the end of my meal. A little background for me when I first had Dave's hot chicken that was the first time I had fried chicken that really awakened something inside me a fried chicken fiend if you will. Ever since that day I've been chasing that same high and after all those years I thought maybe I would never get that same feeling again. That's until I had Zecto. The fried chicken here is something else it really helps that each item is made to order cause the freshness and crispness of the chicken is really something special. The seasoning on the fried chicken is almost like a layer of sauce with how well it is coated and the juiciness of the meat itself is divine. Yes it is on the pricey side but you can definitely taste the quality and to me that's worth it versus a commercialized taste that a lot of other fried chicken joints have fallen victim to. The service here is phenomenal I had multiple orders when I dined in here and each of those times we were given free items like extra sauce, waffles, cookies all free of charge which was really nice. The fries are crispy, well-seasoned, and pair so well with the sauce I never needed ketchup. The chicken tenders are always crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, and they're always huge. We have been coming here for over a year and my second to last time visiting, we had a very subpar visit. In fact it was bad, because of the customer service. The owner, Matthew, not only reached out but confirmed our experience was not good and our points of discontent were valid. But he offered us a chance to come back and when we visited, the employee who had been off that night was actually the guy who took our order. Note - we did order takeout so can't speak to the dine in experience. We got the 4 piece tender, medium level spicy, 10 piece wings, mango habanero and Mac and cheese. Super easy to place a takeout order on their website - they did run out of wings so they gave us boneless wings instead and a free cookie. The tenders are HUGE and so so juicy and delicious! The medium level has a great kick of spice (I would actually maybe go down one level next time). Mango habanero was also pretty delicious but I def prefer a traditional wing over boneless. Mac and cheese was also yummy and not overly wet. Prices are reasonable and portions are great! Will definitely be back!! read more
