Heard a lot of good things about this place, so I finally came to give it a try. I ordered their Deluxe Trio and got the asada, adobada, and tripa. All three were very flavorful, but I did find them to be on the saltier side. Their mild salsa was delicious, though, and went really well with all of the tacos. I think some of the extra saltiness might have been from the cheese that comes with the deluxe. To confirm my theory, I ordered a regular lengua taco afterward, and it was indeed less salty. The lengua was flavorful on its own, and I actually think I might prefer their non deluxe tacos. The star of the show for me was definitely the asada burrito con todo. Everything about it was tasty. The asada was tender, and the rice and beans were seasoned really well. Everything worked together, and there wasn't one ingredient that overpowered the rest. I would definitely order the burrito again. Overall, the food had a lot of flavor. I would probably skip the Deluxe next time because of the saltiness and stick with their regular tacos, but that asada burrito is something I would come back for. read more

The cheese was pretty much burnt instead of being melted and gooey, so it didn't have that cheesy quesadilla consistency at all. It was dry and just wasn't enjoyable. Tacomasa is super super conveniently located right between both downtown Brea parking structures- I didn't even know they existed and have breakfast burritos as well as vegetarian options! The tortilla is one of those giant fat-arse rounds able to hold a real two handed burrito. It's substantial and made with real eggs! Not from carton precracked eggs and I know this because I ate several pieces of eggshells. From those shells I know they used white shelled eggs and not brown shelled. Honestly this was a somewhat disappointing experience for my hubby & I. I can see this being an attractive location for those that don't care for well seasoned food, it's in Brea so that checks out. As for this Chicana that loves her food well seasoned I found this place lacking. I got 1 asada taco & 1 mulita with adobada (pork meat) & hubby got 1 asada taco & 1 tripa taco. We both were disappointed with the lack of flavor in the meats. We also got an elote and it was more cobb than corn because the corn we ordered had very thin kernels. For the price of $5 a taco, $6 for mulita, & $7 for the corn it was disappointing overall. I gave a two star instead of 1 though because the one thing I truly enjoyed was their guayaba limon agua & the service was good & the location was clean. To mi gente out there that like well marinated, seasoned meat skip on this place, but for you that like light to no seasoned meat this is your gem. read more

We were around the area and decided to stop by here for lunch. It's a small taco shop, but plenty of patio seating. I got to try 2 carne asada tacos, and my bf got a quesadilla a lengua taco. It didn't take too long to receive our order, so service was pretty efficient. The tacos are on the more "pricier" side compared to street tacos, maybe because these are considered more gourmet or so? Although, I wouldn't really say it's not as premium. The guac that they had with the taco was pretty nice. The carne asada cuts on the taco were thicker than usual, has a smoky flavor to it which was pretty nice. Tacos were pretty standard. I tried my bf's quesadilla and it honestly tasted more like a cheese taco than a quesadilla. The proportions don't seem to be quite right for a quesadilla since there was more meat and less cheese. Overall, it was not bad. Personally, I feel like Tacomasa gives me more Americanized taco vibes. I don't really feel the authenticity here, but it's pretty decent. Nothing too special. read more

The staff was extremely friendly from the moment we walked in, and the restaurant itself was very clean. What I really appreciated was that the staff allowed us to sample the different meats before ordering, which made it easier to decide since they offer several options. I ended up going with the classic asada and ordered the deluxe trio option. The portion size was huge compared to the traditional tacos. I was honestly full after about one and a half tacos, so if you're not a big eater, two tacos will definitely be enough. For most guys, I think the deluxe trio is the perfect amount. The meat was cooked to perfection and tasted amazing. They also provide a sauce of your choice, and you can request a side of jalapeños, which I absolutely loved. Another thing I liked was that the cooking area is behind a glass wall, so you can watch the chefs cook live. I thought that was very transparent and reassuring. The staff was constantly cleaning and maintaining the area, which really stood out to me because a clean environment is so important when you're eating out. I really hope the quality and overall experience stay consistent. Sometimes restaurants are great when they first open, but quality can drop over time. Everything was really clean and service was great. I'm giving 4 stars because I had to keep asking for napkins and salsa. Great addition to downtown Brea! There's limited street parking and a parking structure available. There used to be a long line when they first opened, but it's not too bad anymore. I came on a Saturday around 6:30 PM and there was no wait. There's some seating inside, but more outdoor seating available. I usually order the following: Taco Combo - comes with two tacos, rice and beans, and a small drink for $13.95. Totally worth it because you can choose any drink including horchata and agua frescas and get refills. Asada Fries - $14.95 comes with sour cream, Guac, cheese, and salsa. Love how crispy the fries are. Service is also good! Many places charge extra for salsa, but love how they don't do that here. Also, tacos are a little pricier but they're big. Stopped by Tacomar in Brea and ended up trying a little bit of everything. I had the taco de asada, pollo, adobada, lengua, and tripa, plus an esquite on the side. All of the tacos were delicious, but the asada was the clear standout--perfectly seasoned and you can really taste the charcoal from the grill, which gives it that extra depth and smokiness. One thing I loved was that you can sample all of the aguas frescas since they are self-serve. The flavors were great across the board, but the pepino con piña was especially refreshing--crisp, light, and super thirst-quenching. The only miss for me was the esquite. The corn itself was good, but the cheese they used was a little too pungent and ended up overpowering the dish. I've visited Taco Masa along with two other locations, and to be honest, this one was the best of the three. The staff were incredibly friendly especially the cashier who took my order. She walked me through the menu with such patience, and even though I was there around 9 p.m. on a Saturday, it wasn't overly crowded, just a steady stream of customers. I had tacos and corn on the cob (Elote) , and both were fresh and full of flavor. But the real highlight was the agua Fresca. It's $3.50 with free refills! I tried the watermelon, cucumber and lemon which was definitely my favorite. I wasn't a fan of the guava. The staff were also on top of cleaning tables often, and while the restroom was overall clean, it did need some serious flooring work. just a hardware issue, not the staff. The location is on a busier street in downtown Brea, so parking is a bit tricky. Be careful as some spots have a 20-minute limit, but if you drive just a bit further, you can find longer parking. Prices were decent, tho not cheap, but fair, especially for the quality. All in all, the standout was definitely the staff, so hardworking and attentive. I'll be coming back for sure! read more

We waited a little to try this new hot place in downtown Brea because the lines are always long! We finally noticed the line being reasonable so decided to give it a go. I ordered a quesadilla and my bf a burrito. My quesadilla was good but not great for the price. I usually can't finish quesadillas at other Mexican restaurants but I was able to eat the whole thing. My bf wasn't too impressed with the burrito as it didn't have much protein in it, it was mostly rice/beans. The sauces were good and it's nice that you get to see the kitchen. They have a restroom onsite close to the soda machine and aguas frescas. I was surprised that no iced tea is offered. You walk up to the front and place your order. They give you a number and you find a table. We came on a hot sunny day and the outdoor seating has absolutely no shaded areas, we got lucky and someone was leaving a small table inside so we hurried to grab it. The ambiance is casual, clean inside with light colors. They tend to be playing very loud music which makes it hard to have a conversation if you are indoors. Overall I think it's a bit on the pricier side and I personally do not think the flavour or portion sizes make up for the price. I might be back because of the convenient location and relatively quick service, but I would not go out of my way to come. read more

Absolutely delicious! I placed a phone order. They answered right away. I got there about 10 minutes after calling and my order was ready. Kept nice and warm in their oven. Their asada burrito is perfection. So much flavor. It has guacamole in it and it tastes fresh. Not that cheap Taco Bell guacamole many other restaurants use. They have like 8 different agua fresca drinks to pick from. It was so hard to pick one. I ended up getting the watermelon one, sooooo refreshing! The restaurant is nice and clean. Love the setup. A pretty mixed bag for Tacomasa. Starting with the good- very friendly service, clean interior and a great fresh juice selection which was a pleasant surprise. As for the food it was honestly underwhelming. We tried tacos and a vampiro. The asada was a bit overcooked but did have a nice smoky flavor to it. There was something a bit off with the pork adobada. Having been to Ensenada 10+ times it just didn't taste very close to Baja style adobada. The flavor notes reminded me of canned sausage and the pork was very drippy with oil. I was surprised to learn that the tortillas here are hand pressed because they tasted and looked store bought. The salsa verde and roja were both pretty tasty. Overall, Tacomasa did disappoint- just a mix of good and not so good and I wouldn't go out of my way to return. read more

One of a few locations in SoCal of a small or regional chain. Not 100% sure if there are locations other than SoCal, but the style of food seems to be of Tijuana (dollops of guac and adobada vs. al pastor - keep in mind I'm no expert). It's located in a shopping area or outside mall of sorts, so the area could get busy and there could be lots of foot traffic. The space is bright and clean and the people are provide quick service and are very friendly. Have I had better Mexican food - personally, I want to say yes, not to take away from them as I thought the food here was very good and I am amazed at how the can handle the volume while keeping up standards. There's even a station I saw that specializes in making fresh tortillas. I ordered a carne asada taco, an adobada mulita, and elote. The taco was pretty large and so was the mulita (I think they use the same tortillas). I probably could have gotten away with just ordering one/either of those since I wasn't super hungry. The flavors tasted authentic (to me) and I thought the ingredients were fresh as well as the salsas. The elote was tasty and had a good amount of toppings without overpowering the corn. There's also a great selection of agua frescas along with the fountain sodas. All in all, I can see why this place is popular and gets the business that it does. Definitely a great spot if I'm shopping in the area or catching a movie nearby and I want something quick, delicious, and not too expensive.
