Carne asada fries
Alice Y.

Me: the best carne asada I've had as an LA native My husband: the best tortilla he's had at any taqueria This place is doing it right and to believe they're in Brea! The carne asada was so flavorful and rich. I went with the nacho cheese on my fries based on other Yelp reviews and I'd say it was the right choice. The tortilla is also S tier. They're the perfect thickness and the tacos are the perfect size. The red and green salsas were both good. They have a self serve salsa bar with pickled onions and some lime as well. I think a little more onion and cilantro on the fries and tacos would've been great, but now we know to ask next time. Would recommend bringing cash to save some extra cents per item! Casual, indoor seating available with high chairs. Shared parking in lot with other businesses. Our new favorite local taco spot!

This taco spot was literally like 4 mins from my hotel so I decided to stop by. I had ordered 2 asada tacos. They were big and filled with meat but my asada was so dry I had to drown it with so much sauce! And they were not cheap!! I'd probably not return.

First time visitor Located in a small shopping plaza next to a Jiu jitsu facility Please note closed on Mondays Online ordering and walk in availability Indoor dining primarily with like 8 to 10 Tables and a few stools 10 diff type of meats for tacos available along with various nachos mulita papa loka quesadilla burrito including hand made tortilla for an extra charge plus refrigerated drinks and pepito jaimaca horchata Fresca offering The cashier was really helpful and friendly. Even taking request in helping us with practicing our Spanish :) Ordered one of each taco plus a few more Please note on the menu there are price differences when using card or cash Opening sitting available and 2 flat screens in the place You can see the cook behind the cashier area prepping everything fresh to order Tacos comes with everything (guac onion cilantro) and there is a salsa bar along with pickled onions and radishes If dining in, listen for your number and you will pick up your food from the cooks as they will be on trays and plates. Place was clean and functional, decor on the walls and signage. Very much spot to grab good food, family friendly, date night, come solo, and get it to go spot. Food was really good! Fresh and hearty portions. The chicharron taco with its soft fatty skin in the green mild salsa was tasty. Tortilla held everything together! The Al pastor was Smokey and sweet top with a sliver of pineapple. Meats were moist and can taste each of its flavors on its own even with multiple meats consumed. Really good food for a rainy day. Certainly will return to try more and eat more!

Please filter the agua de piña...too many little thorns in it. :(

They have a great variety of meats and drinks. It is a hit and miss for me. Some days it's delicious and other days it's not seasoned right. I frankly do not like the tortillas. It overpowers the meat flavors. I tried their agua de piña and it had a lot of the pineapples thorns in it. Not very pleasant to drink it having to spit them out with every sip. The service is wonderful tho. Always friendly and fast.

The tacos here are always good. The entire staff is friendly and welcoming. I have never been disappointed with Asada or Pastor tacos.

First time here and everything tasted really good. Nachos was my favorite, it has that good cheese sauce and chips that doesn't get soggy. Tacos are amazing and don't skip on the salsas, the red/orange one was super spicy but good. The place is small but plenty of seats. Plenty of parking too. We were greeted right away and the lady was nice and went over the menu. We will come back to try others.

Yummmm!!! Really enjoyed the carne asada tacos and the al pastor sope, i'll definitely be back to try more menu items, excited to try everything! Lots of tables inside, clean, great salsa bar (pickled onions were perfect). They do have a cash discount, and a separate pricing for when you pay with a card. Everything is shown and listed on their menu!

Loved the tacos I really liked the steak and the pastor. I tried the top sirloin but didnt think it was worth the higher price. Would rather get the steak. Also got the goyo nachos which were really good as well. Highly recommend. Lines def get long but its worth it. Bring cash for a little discount too.

A friend recommended to try this for lunch. The place wasn't fancy packed when we got in line to order. In the kitchen I saw two tower of meat being grilled (al pastor and top sirloin). The staff busy prepping the food as the customers waited for their order. We had to scour for a table to eat. The lunch rush did mean we had to do some self service in cleaning the tables. Ordered 4 tacos (top sirloin, carnitas, buche, and lengua) and the Goyo fries with asada and al pastor. The tacos were served with guacamole and lots of meat on fresh tortilla. The fries were piled on with lots of meat guacamole and cheese. I left super stuffed. Cool place to try.

Don Goyo is my new favorite taco joint! I love their handmade corn tortillas, they're thick enough so you only get one per taco. They're one of the best I've tried, and it's what really elevates their tacos for me. I also think very highly of their pastor. I usually don't like pastor at most places because they tend to be on the sweeter side. But here, it's well balanced and not sweet. I also appreciate the top sirloin option. You can see both the sirloin and pastor on the spit here and can taste the fire. They load up your tacos with generous amount of meat as well. Overall, a very solid taco joint, arguably the best one in this N. OC area.

Went there for lunch today around 1:30 PM with my wife. There were about eight people ahead of us when we arrived, but plenty of seating available. Ordered asada tacos, tripa tacos, and the Goyo nachos with asada. Both the asada and tripa tacos had great flavor, and the handmade tortillas were a nice touch. The salsa was on point too. The nachos, however, weren't to my liking -- the cheese was a bit overwhelming and too salty. Overall, I'd definitely come back to try the other tacos on the menu.

Quick service and friendly staff. The asada mulita and green salsa are the way to go! I loved the grilled onions (extra charge, but worth it). Rating it a bit lower because they charge more per item if you pay with a card instead of cash, which felt unfair. Also, seating is very limited, so don't count on finding a table during busy hours. The ambience is very chill. People just go and eat.

front to back: sirloin, pastor, and asada

The tacos are filled with generous portions of protein and made with handmade tortillas. We ordered sirloin (35¢ upcharge), asada, tripa, pastor, and chicharron. The tacos were all good, but the sirloin was my favorite, followed by the chicharron. They're served with cilantro, onions, and guacamole unless you ask them to omit these toppings. The self-serve salsa bar offers three different salsas: red, green, and habanero. The habanero was the best and really enhanced the flavor of the meats. Refrigerated soft drinks and aguas frescas are available for purchase. No booze here. There is also refreshing, ice-cold cucumber water on the counter, which is complimentary. It's a smaller taco shop with older, uncomfortable, sticky tables, so we ate quickly and left. The music was so loud that I could barely hear the cashier. Overall, we enjoyed the tacos, however, the meats were overcooked and a tad dry (with the exceptions being the chicharron and tripa). I would return if I ever found myself in the area.

Ask the Community - Tacos Don Goyo Brea

Do you have a taco Tuesday special?

Hi Grace unfortunately we don’t :(

Do they cater or have a taquero option for events?

Do they have an al pastor spit/tromp with pineapple?

Hi Cee, yes we do:)

Any Vegetarian options?

Don't think so. I mean you can ask for no meat and beans. Beans might be cooked in lard.

They also have a large covered outdoor patio with ceiling fans. I had the taco and enchilada combo ($14), with a carne asada taco (+$1) and a shrimp enchilada (+$3.50) with green sauce. The plate also comes with rice and pinto or black beans. You order at the register, and your food is delivered to your table. The enchilada was great, filled with perfectly grilled shrimp, and a nice layer of gooey cheese on top. There was extra cheese on the plate above and below the enchilada which made it even better. The green sauce was great and had a very mild heat. They don't skimp on the tacos here. Two flour tortillas hold a ton of flavorful carne asada and it is topped with lettuce and pico de gallo. They have a great salsa bar, and I always enjoy the salsa verde and some lime wedges with my tacos. The rice is light and fluffy, and I drench it with salsa verde. I usually don't care much for beans. The last time I had lunch here, the pinto beans were very watery and bland. This time, they were much better and I ate almost all of them. There was a lot of extra green sauce from the enchilada on the plate which helped. The woman at the ordering register was very friendly and wished me a great day. The gentleman who delivered my food and cleared my table was also very pleasant. This plate is a little on the expensive side with the premium upgrades ($23.50 after tax and tip), but it was delicious and very filling.

You ordered and then sat wherever. I liked that they have a salsa bar. A lot of places took theirs out during the pandemic and never put it back. The food was served to me. Tacos were quite nice. Not quite authentic Mexican but not American style either as it didn't have that fish taco sauce they always put on it. This was somewhere in between. I like the small menu as it only has fish tacos and burritos and shrimp and beef and chicken. They also had bowls too. I guess this would fall under fast casual but the food did take a little time to come out. It looks like they're doing everything right. No complaints here. I will be back.

I went for lunch on my first visit, enjoyed what I ordered, and can't wait to go back to try more of the menu. As you walk up to the cashier and glance at the menu, you can see the flaming grill action in the kitchen, where all the meats and other foods are prepared. I ordered a couple of tacos and sides. I went for the premium meats like Arrachera (outside skirt steak) and Costilla (chopped beef ribs). Both meats were flavorful, cooked well, and piled generously on the tortillas. I ordered the rice-and-beans side, and both were delicious, especially when adding more ingredients from the salsa bar. Highlights: - Flavorful, mesquite-grilled meats and plenty of offerings on the menu - The variety of salsas and condiments bar is solid - Taco Tuesday deals - Indoor and outdoor seating - Chill atmosphere and pleasant decor - A few TVs to watch sports - A few more locations in the OC The staff was kind, and the service was efficient. We got our dine-in order within 5-10 mins. The dining area and salsa bar were clean and tidy. We arrived around 1 pm, so we missed most of the lunch crowd. Price-wise, it's a bit on the premium side, but it's still a nice treat once in a while. They also add a small fee for card payments, so I prefer to pay with cash when I can. 4.5/5 Rating overall.
