Well it took over a year, but Jen and I finally found a good time for us to go. Having taken the day off from work, we decided to try out luck on a Friday afternoon. When we arrived shortly after 2pm, there was only one other couple in line. We waited just a few minutes. Upon entering the front door, the great memories of Soup Plantation came rushing back. All the pre-mixed salads and vegetable add-ins/toppings, pastas, fresh fruit, soups, chili, pizza slices, baked potato, muffins and soft serve ice cream for dessert. There are plenty of workers that keeps the place clean, taking food temperatures for safety and ensuring a great dining experience. Salads are freshly replaced and I caught muffins coming out of the oven. Soups were full with plenty of ingredients, and with a great ladling technique you can get a nice balanced bowl. Pizza was hot, crispy and gooey. I did my best not to overeat, loading up on the pre-mixed salads and vegetables. But I could not resist capping off my meal with a small vanilla soft serve bowl with chocolate sauce and pieces of their chocolate brownie muffin. Not a fine dining experience, but everything I expected and a bit more. Overall, the experience was worth the wait, and I'm sure we'll be back again. Kudos for bringing back this dining concept. What a throwback to good old sweet tomatoes! My partner and I drove down 400 miles just to try Soup n Fresh and it did not disappoint. For $18 for lunch, you get unlimited soup, salad, pasta, baked potatoes, and baked goods!! As a carb lover, this was my dream. There was a huge line out the door that passed by relatively quickly. The inside is like a nicer, cleaner, more modern aesthetic than what I expected. The chicken soup was mostly broth and the pastas were basic but good. Everything was as delicious as $18 can get you. This was my second time trying out this spot (the last time I came was over a year ago) and it was definitely worth the drive out to the Chino area! Lunch on a weekend was $19.99 per person which was not bad for it being AYCE/buffet. Of course we came for the nostalgia and some few items we missed like the chicken wonton salads, chicken noodle soup, and broccoli cheddar soul.. but somehow this spot managed to create an experience that was even better that the OG! Everything was SO fresh. The veggies weren't wilted and everything was constantly being topped off and restocked for customers. My fiancé even said he thinks the soft serve here is better than the old Souplantation! It feels like they kept all the things we loved about Souplantation but improved it and made it their own. Service was also really friendly and efficient! The servers were constantly coming around to clear empty plates and everything felt clean and well maintained despite how busy it was. There was about a 15-20 minute wait outside when we came, but the waiting area is covered by a tent so it really wasn't bad. First time at this location, it's smaller than the RC one. Senior lunch price was $15.99, reg $17.99 til 4. They give you 2 hours to eat, very generous as it is unlimited helpings. Drinks are $4 each and refills allowed but they took away the ice tea urn and so I couldn't get a refill on that. The soda fountain features Pepsi, plus lemonade and milk. I made a big spinach salad with mushroom, onion, egg, bacon, red onion, blue cheese crumbles. Also took some of the prepared tuna pasta. We had some pineapple, some cheesy bread, garlic pizza bread, corn muffin, chocolate brownie muffin and they give whipped butter plus honey butter. I had broccoli cheese soup, friend had Chili soup. I wanted to try other soups but it was just too much and ditto on the baked potato with all the trimmings. We did manage to each get a soft serve, for the way out. The lady waiter at the table was really friendly and great about bussing. I think I should have left a few bucks on the table. The salad bar is the main focus, yet some of the vegetables didn't look fresh and were already dry. Even the soups, which I had high hopes for, were not as good as expected. All the soups i tried were yummy except the clam chowder. The cheese bread was pretty good and so was the marinara! The alfredo wasn't good though. I absolutely loved my visit! It reminded me so much for Souplantation so my inner child was squealing away. We got there around 10:45 and waited about 45 minutes before getting seated. The line was moving so it didn't seem like we were waiting too long. I got two plates to stack my salads and goodies. There was two tossed salad. They were very lightly dressed. I loved the pasta and all of the salad bar. So reminiscent. I also got chili and clam chowder. Both very good! My favorite thing would probably be the corn bread with honey whipped butter. Soup 'n Fresh immediately reminded me of the old Souplantation, it feels almost the same. I heard that the new owners acquired the rights to the Souplantation concept after the original company liquidated in 2020, and they have done a great job bringing it back under the name Soup 'n Fresh. Came here by accident - I was actually trying to go to the boiler and we had driven all the way out here to go there only to find out it was closed. Luckily, Soup n Fresh was in the same plaza and we've been bombarded by social media about how it was the second coming of soup plantation. It was over 100 degrees outside on a weekday lunch so we didn't really expect it to be very busy. When we entered, the host wasn't around and an employee insisted we stand outside in the 100+ degree weather to wait..... When the host came back, she said we didn't need to wait. At the end of the line, there was someone attempting to direct you towards a table, however it was confusing as some tables were marked with a paper saying it was taken? Food wise - it's no soup plantation. I remember really loving the Asian inspired salad and theirs just simply can't compare. It doesn't taste anywhere close to what I remember. The broccoli madness was close, but not perfect. Other than that....it was just a salad bar. They were good about refilling the salad bar, but they weren't good about refilling the fruit station at the end (wasn't refilled for over 1+ hours). Soups were a lot more water-y than I remember - favorites such as the clam chowder were super watered down. Luckily, the baked potato bar toppings could save it. The hot bar - the pizzas/garlic bread or whatever were disgusting. They tasted like cardboard and reminded me of that sad lunch you'd attempt to eat in elementary school. Pastas also sucked. I'm a Soup n Fresh fan but this location felt a lot less quality than the Rancho Cucamonga location. I went for a weekday lunch and there was no wait even though it was busy inside, so +1 for ample seating. They have raised prices a buck or two, but they do have BOGO coupons on their Facebook that I was able to make use of. The cashier seemed familiar with the offer at first, but then instructed me to do some random stuff, like to respond to the Facebook Messenger chatbot with my numeric total charge. This was not necessary; you just need to select the prompt that says "Redeem in-store." I enjoy salad so I had a good experience, but a lot of the offerings fell flat for me that day. The shredded carrot salad is usually my favorite thing to get but it tasted so weird. I don't know if the recipe was changed but it was very sour, maybe too much vinegar? My partner likes the chicken noodle soup but told me there was basically no chicken in it, and I had a similar time trying to find any slivers of egg white in what seemed like a serving tray full of mashed yolks. The pizza and garlic bread were a lot cheesier than they are at Rancho where they are more dry and cardboardy. I think most people would enjoy that but I found the taste and smell of the butyric acid to be too overpowering, personally. On the plus side, the pasta was good. The unlimited salad bar is honestly the highlight. You can load up on cucumbers, broccoli, fresh veggies, tons of dressings, and even premade salads. I love being able to customize everything and go back for all my favorite toppings without limits. They also have a solid variety of hot foods including pizza and soups like chicken noodle, chili, posole, and clam chowder. There's also a baked potato station and an ice cream bar, which makes it feel like a full all-in-one buffet experience. Even though it was pretty crowded when I went, I was impressed with how clean and well stocked everything stayed. Staff kept things moving and refilled quickly. My wife and I arrived here just after open on Saturday and there was a huge line outside, which I guess I should have expected but underestimated. We waited in the line for about an hour before entering and being seated. When you enter this place, you grab a plate and make your way through the "buffet" lines. Once you put a plate together, you head to the register, pay, and then are seated by another member of the team. Since it's a buffet style kind of place, let's get into the food. Clam Chowder Soup- The Clam Chowder was pretty solid. I'm a big fan of clam chowder in general and I was not disappointed here. Macaroni & Cheese- Not great, but not bad. This kind of tasted like every generic macaroni and cheese that you would get from a diner. Bad? No, but nothing special. Cheese Pizza- The pizza looked great, but somehow just managed to taste like cheese bread. Spaghetti- Simple red sauce spaghetti that lacked pretty much all flavour. Assorted Salad Goods- It's literally a salad, so it was exactly what I made of it. Solid enough. Ice Cream- The soft serve machine was actually really freaking good, like way better then most soft serve. Overall, Soup 'N Fresh is a cool and unique idea, but the food here just lacked any sort of lasting impact. You can choose to go down the salad bar island from the left or right. Soups, pasta, & breads are on the left side wall. Wrapped around the corner are drinks and soft serve stations. There are a decent amount of stalls in the restrooms. Ambiance is nice and bright with table and booth seating. FOOD: soups and pastas were probably my favorite. SOUPS tasted very similar to souplantation, with the typical soups: clam chowder, chicken noodle, chilli, cream of mushroom, cheddar broccoli, minestrone, etc. The PASTA's were actually more flavorful than the usual souplantation ones. Alfredo was delicious, spaghetti and mac & cheese were not bad. The premixed SALADS were not as good. Was so sad the wonton happiness salad was underdressed and barely had any chicken. The other premixed salad they had was Caesar. The Joan's brocolli salad was the same. The salad bar selections were still very plentiful and varied. Dressings were just ok. Since the closing of Souplantation Restaurants we've been on the hunt for something similar. This place is a dupe to it. Come on, its named Soup 'n Fresh. Tip: get in line as soon as possible or have someone stand in line for your party. The line is long but moves quickly. The restaurant is clean and the are enough tables and booths for a small or big party. The table next to us was throwing a 40th Birthday party. As for selection. There's a soup station, a salad station, pasta station, and a bread section. Drinks are self serve along with their ice cream (vanilla, chocolate, or a combo of vanilla/chocolate swirl). Sadly there were only grapes and oranges for fruits. The soup station had about 5 different soups which included the delicious Clam chowder. The Bone Broth chicken noodle soup tasted like boiled chicken with fettuccine noodles. It was bland. I was not gonna even try the Lentil & Spinach Soup, Cream of Mushroom, or Chicken Tortilla Soup. No chicken for me! Salads there was a selection of plain salad, Caesar salad, Chinese Chicken Salad and the never ending toppings and sides for salads. They did also have a tun pasta salad, a spiral pasta (which had no dressing), and a broccoli salad. Get the broccoli salad. It's a mix of a little sweetness and texture. Skip the other two options. The bread station has pizza (that cheese bread hd the best pull, but the dough itself was mediocre), there was a chocolate muffin, French baguette, and the ole so famous Blueberry muffins. That itself deserve 5 stars because it tasted exactly as soup plantations. Add the honey butter and its like I was back to the future!! The pasta station had mac n cheese, spaghetti marinara, alfredo penne pasta, sweet potato, and baked potato. The alfredo penne reminded me of Johns Incredible's pasta. My wife and I love supplantation back then and Soup n Fresh is most definitely a nice sight to see after their chain closed. Firstly, Soup n Fresh, this location specific is very popular. Almost a year since open, there's still a large queue to enter the restaurant whenever it's busy and it's busy very often. Always nice to have free parking in a HUGE parking lot. As it's a buffet style restaurant, the options are endless. From all kinds of vegetables, pastas, soups, pizza bites, breads, and even ice cream, you can make all types of combos. Fan favorite is definitely the chicken noodle soup, which my wife loves. My standout favorite is the alfredo pasta and the tuna pasta. A good mix of those with the various vegetables is absolutely addicting, very tasty and always fresh. Service is pretty decent as well, they take away plates quite fast and often as you are gathering more food, very impressed. Can't wait to visit again as this is one of the most authentic spots around, nostalgic for sure. P.S. Always finish your meal with a ice cream cone, very delicious. read more

Well HELLO my old friend!! FINALLY got a chance to try Soup 'N Fresh. Been wanting and missing Souplantation since they closed in 2020. Seems like we are not the only ones since it's been packed since they opened. We got there just in time before the lunch rush so we just walked in with no wait. Lots of parking spots. So let's me get right to it. Food: fresh and crisp salads with all the fixings, yummy and hearty soups, baked potatoes and sweet potatoes with all the fixing, Mac n cheese and 2 types of pastas, and fresh baked breads and muffins. And for desserts - Soft serve and all the toppings. Service: Fast and friendly. Environment: Nice and clean with plenty of seatings. Pro tips: come early!! Soup 'N Fresh has been packed so expect long waits. Don't over packed your plates and keep your tray to carry your soups. ENJOY!! read more

If you are going to this place in hopes for souplantation, let me warn you right now that this does not even hold a candle to its glory. All the soups I had were too salty and the chicken noodle noodles were on the verge of disintegration. The desserts were all too sweet with the exception of the soft serve. The final nail in the coffin was the food waste. I didn't get around to my baked potato so I was going to bring it home and they told me I had to toss it in the trash ‍ such a terrible policy. read more

We're so happy "Souplantation" has made its comeback through Soup 'n Fresh. It tastes just like I remember and brings back so much nostalgia. We especially love the Chino Hills location. It's much closer for us coming from OC and after visiting both locations, we've found the food here to be more consistently fresh than Rancho. We've already been back many times since opening. The biggest reason I finally wanted to write a review, though, is Josue. Huge shoutout to him!! We've never had a busser introduce himself to us before and he was incredibly friendly, attentive, and hardworking. Our table was the clearest it's ever been! Watching him work, he was ON IT the entire time, clearing table after table, carrying a tray stacked high AND still checking in with his guests. He genuinely made our experience tonight so much more enjoyable. I really hope management recognizes him, because employees like Josue are the kind of people who make customers want to come back. And Josue, thanks for the sopa de pata recommendation, we'll definitely have to try it! read more

We came for dinner on a random Wednesday night and there was a bit of a wait ~ 20 minutes-ish. The set up is the same as its predecessor: premade + DIY salads, soups, carbs, etc. I think eggs are the only form of protein you can add to your salad. I personally like the pasta bar for a little carb treat in between all the salad plates. It's giving Lean Cuisine - pasta but make it healthy-ish. The bread bar sitch was also on point. They kept churning out fresh cheese bread. Soup 'n Fresh is to Souplantation as Bear Claw is to UGGS. The same, but not the same. It gets the job done. read more
