Enson Harbor is what I would expect from a chain seafood restaurant in Cincinnati. The food was good, but I think it's hard to have truly exceptional seafood so far from the ocean unless you are paying top dollar. I tried the plain Jane seafood boil. It came with half a pound of crab legs, a half ear of corn on the cob, and two red potatoes. I liked having the option to only get a half pound. The flavor of the crab was good. Two of my family members tried the coconut shrimp and they both liked it. We were there on a rainy night, so unfortunately we couldn't enjoy the deck overlooking the river. read more

We went for an early dinner on a Saturday and we were the only people there. We saw so many good reviews online and were excited to try it. Our server was attentive, but seemed a little confused. We ordered several appetizers and entrees so we could try lots of things. The food came out in random order and there were some of us without food waiting for theirs. On top of that, it wasn't that good. We took a lot of it home, but ended up pitching it the next day. My sister and I had a very enjoyable lunch at Enson Harbor/Chinese Dim Sum & Bar. Katie, our server, was fantastic! She was very helpful, as this was our first experience ordering Dim Sum. We had delicious spring rolls, dumplings and Shanghai Lo Mein. Also, our mixed drinks from the bar were yummy, but more expensive than we expected. It was too windy to sit outside, but very pleasant atmosphere inside. We were disappointed to see no umbrellas on the deck tables. Hopefully that will change in the near future, since we've enjoyed sitting on the deck in the past but in the shade. Still giving a 5 Star Rating even with the couple minor complaints. Have heard a lot of buzz about this place since they reopened, so finally gave it a try today for lunch. Not very busy at midday. I had 3 things plus a beer. An order of 4 steamed pork and crab dumplings, a small stir-fry entree (Kung pao chicken) and a bowl of corn chowder soup. Server was fairly friendly and attentive.Now the food. Dumplings were mostly air with a teeny bit of filling--not worth 10 bucks. Entree was about half the size of a comparable entree elsewhere and served on a dessert-sized plate--no rice, that's extra. It also had pieces (not whole peppers) of the dark red Szechuan peppers they use to add heat to the dish, which are dry and normally not eaten but pulled out of the dish beforehand. So I didn't appreciate having to pick out 20 or 30 small pieces of inedible material from my dish. Soup was pretty good--if I ever come back I would probably get the hot and sour soup. I didn't see anything here that couldn't be done better and cheaper somewhere else, and it's a 35 minute drive for me so probably a one-and-done. read more

I want to stop you right there, before you waste $100 like I did. I was warned about how bad the service was, but that didn't prepare me for how bad the food was. First things first, we were seated promptly, and given menus. The server was very nice. Once our whole party arrived we started to order. However, things started to take a turn at ordering drinks. A draft beer took 25 minutes to arrive to the table. A honeydew smoothie was just green ice, no flavor. The server was confused about what the food items were, and warned us that if we ordered our entire meals, and appetizers at the same time, there was no way to differentiate what would come out first. She said the food just comes out as it's ready, this meant we had two peoples appetizers and one persons entrée come out at the same time, and everyone else sat there with no food, just staring at the people who had food. The server brought out soup dumplings and had no idea if they were the pork or the chicken ones. The dumplings were all flat, and sad looking, so it would have been hard to tell them apart if you didn't pay attention. Once we all had at least one item in front of us, we started eating. This is where it goes from bad to worse. BLAND! BLAND! BLAND! Everything was limp, squishy, lukewarm, and flavorless. I'm not sure how you screw up spring rolls, but they managed to. There wasn't a speck of pepper on the salt and pepper calamari- and soooooo salty it was inedible; arriving on a plate heaped with French fried onions? Weird. I ordered Kung Pao chicken- extra spicy. The server looked at me perplexed and said she could bring out a side of chili oil to make it more spicy, to this I told her that would not make it more spicy, just more greasy. The food needs to be cooked with more spice not greased up at the table. I ordered the purple rice with my Kung Pao, and got an overcooked lump of starchy purple mush. Another friend ordered the Jumbo shrimp with scallions - overcooked to rubbery texture and heaped on a pile of green onion tops in greasy, oily, sauce. Crab Rangoons with no flavor served with kewpie mayonnaise. The only good thing we ordered were the mixed drinks, but they were missing ingredients as the server said the mint had gone bad. The drinks were $13 a piece! This place is a literal disaster. The food is complete garbage. Please don't waste your money. We left grifted and hungry. I'd give zero stars if I could. read more

We went to Enron Harbor so excited to try a new restaurant. The restaurant was empty (it was 4 pm) but they asked if we had a reservation and seemed very bothered that we did not. They were out of everything we tried to order so we ended up just ordering the chicken fingers appetizer and decided to go elsewhere for dinner. The app was $10+ and we got 4 very very small chicken fingers. I can't imagine this restaurant lasting without some big changes. Let me start with the good. Our server was super sweet. The clam chowder, which I am pretty sure was not homemade, had a unique flavor that we enjoyed. The view is very nice. Now here are the concerns: 1. Instead of daily specials, we were given a list when we arrived of items not available for us to order. No alligator bites, no Ribeye, no lobster tail. Ok, we can deal with that. 2. We asked what the market price was for crab. It was $60 for King Crab-wow- but only $18 for snow crab. That's a good deal right? Nope. It was an $18 add-on to the meal for 1 claw and 3 legs- misleading. The crab was ok, but had a bit of a fishy smell- not super fresh. 3. The Lobster Roll was not bad, just seemed "watery" like the lobster had been sitting in water for a bit. Came with a small order of fries and it cost $24 4. The fries are delicious, but you don't get many with the meal. 5. My husband ordered a 12 oz Strip, since the Ribeye was not available, and added the crab. The strip was charged the same price as the ribeye ($32), with the crab add-on (18)- it came with 4 red potatoes and broccoli. It just was not a $50 meal- just too high for the quality served. 6. Before tip, our total meal came to $106. That's just too much for the quality and quantity of items served. Attended their soft opening tonight. The Hot Brown with Scallops and their Hush Puppies were my two favorite items...yummy! Food was served buffet style. The staff put everything on your plate for you. In addition, servers brought appetizers to your table for you to sample. They have robots that will be food runners when things get busy. I just ordered from DoorDash and was craving eggs and seafood boil sauce and when I say this is the best seafood boil sauce I ever had and will only be ordering them from here for now on. The sauce has so much flavor and depth to it unlike some other places who just use a lot of different seasonings and butter. I will be ordering with seafood next time. I also got the salt and pepper chicken wings. My only complaint is that it lacks seasoning and it's too much onions on top but either than that I really enjoyed everything. Seafood night with my sisters so we decided to try the new seafood restaurant in Covington, Ky Enson Harbor. The family style seafood restaurant appeared clean, relax with decent fare entrees (small portions). Although the restaurant was not busy for a Saturday night bar and kitchen service was slow. Our first set of drink unfortunately we had to send back due to drinking glasses were dirty. Although our server was nice actual service was lack luster with incorrect orders an only one check back. Food taste and quality let's just say my fries were ok. My 2 stars are based on the manager efforts to correct one order and the restaurant appearing cleaning. read more

Don't spend your hard earned money or waste your time at this place! Went to celebrate a special occasion and was disappointed in EVERY way. 9 tables and 4 wait staff, manager, hostess and bartender in view but horrible service. No need to use robots because it took us over 45 minutes just to get water! $20 for a half sized portion of chicken and shrimp fettucine alfredo and $25 for a rubber lobster tail! Our boil was $88, potatoes were underdone, scallops under done and my cat wouldn't eat the lobster! Hostess and bartender were kind and trying to serve but there was a clear lack of direction with front of the house running circles around each other. One table left yelling and upset while another table had a waitress talking endlessly who I saw taking a break on her cell phone while everything was floundering. Manager seemed annoyed when we complained and took off a big chunk of the bill that ended up to still be $90 and in the trash. We were hungry after almost two hours of a nightmare and ended up going home and eating. Don't start a new restaurant if you can't deliver! First time getting here since Enson Harbor took on the Joe's Crabshack location on the river (and, let's face it, probably the best outdoor dining view in the city!). Started out with their Old Fashioned and Maker's Mark Mule's....OF good, Mule very good.... We ordered the Cod Fish & Chips, Onion Rings and a Southern Boil of 1/2 lb Snow Crab Legs and added the 1/2lb sausage. Batter on the cod and also on the onion rings tasted excellent. Be ready for a little oily on the rings...but they were thickly battered and fantastic! I had the Southern Boil and it was so much fun. I will do this more often! Spiced all the way up to 3, the sauce has really great flavor. Since cracking open crab legs takes time with minimal-meat-results.....adding the sausage to the dish was perfect to keep food directed to my mouth while cracking shells...and the combo/variety worked so well together. Sausage was excellent! Did I mention the fun of working through the boil? Anyway.....we split a Crème Brûlée, added another set of drinks and moved over to the lounge chairs and enjoyed the city/river view as the sun set! I read Jennifer's review below before writing and totally disagree that it was expensive (prices are online on their menu). For what they probably pay to lease this ideally located space on the river....food and staffing costs.....I thought it was actually inexpensive. We ordered 3 items - soup dumpling sampler, pork potstickers and beef and broccoli. We ended up getting chicken and broccoli so that was a bummer. The chicken was kind of bland and the flavor was from the sauce and thats all that carried that dish. The potstickers were incredibly bland and the wrapper resembled cellophane vs flour water and dumplings of the legit type. The soup dumplings were underwhelming. The tab was under 40 bucks and the restaurant was pretty empty. Not a good sign for a Friday night. All in all. We probably won't be returning. Very MEH. read more

Took our family of 6 (our kiddos are foodies) to Enson Harbor for dinner tonight. We had 8 different dishes (a total of 11 as we got two of a couple) and loved them all! The soup dumplings (both pork and crab/pork) were delicious. Additionally, we had snow pea and shrimp dumplings, chicken dumplings, pan fried pork buns, pan fried wonton (one of our favorites), salted egg yolk bao and pan fried pork dumplings. All dishes were delicious! Our table enjoyed the salted egg yolk bao however it was a sweet dish rather than savory as we would have thought. I got pictures of the first two dishes delivered and after that was too busy eating! Cocktails were good however a bit on the pricey side. Service was great and we will be back! Checked out Enson Harbor today for dim sum for Chinese New Year. We were surprised to find the restaurant empty on a Saturday at noon. My initial impression was that the dim sum menu was pretty limited and the prices were higher than I expected for dim sum. We ordered cha siu bao, siu Mai, fried shrimp balls, soup dumplings, gua bao, salt and pepper chicken wings, crab rangoon, shanghai noodles, and general tso's chicken. Surprisingly, the general tso's was the best dish of all. We were not at all impressed with the dim sum. I've been eating dim sum my entire life, enjoying it in many different cities and countries. In my opinion, the flavors were all off, I would go so far as to say that some of the dim sum dishes were bad. The soup dumplings and siu Mai were the closest to what I would expect. The fried shrimp balls weren't bad, but they were tiny compared to what I usually see at dim sum restaurants. The wings were super tiny and fried to the point of being really dry, with little taste. They were salt and pepper wings but didn't even have salt. The cha siu bao dough was good, but none of us cared for the filling recipe. It had a strange taste that I could only describe as beer-like. It may have been shaoxing wine, but it didn't seem to be exactly that either. The pork belly bao dough was also well prepared, but the pork belly didn't seem seasoned at all. They didn't have some basic dim sum staples that we typically enjoy, like bean curd rolls, sticky rice, pineapple buns (kid's favorite), or hot tea. I asked for oolong tea, but all they had were black or green tea bags. And if you want white rice, it's an additional $2/bowl. Everything is cooked to order, so if you're looking for traditional steam cart service, this isn't the place. We thought the service was good. She did forget one thing we ordered, but got it out quickly. And we had been throwing a lot of things at her when we were ordering, so we weren't upset about that. We went there because it's advertised as a dim sum restaurant but I can't recommend it for dim sum. The entree dishes were pretty good, so it might be worth going there for some of the non dim sum offerings. read more

I can't believe this place would get anything under five stars! It was fantastic and I think it's destined to be my new favorite restaurant. It took residence in a former Joe's Crab Shack building and the exterior still has that seafood restaurant vibe, so we were a bit suprised to be greeted by a giant pandabear at the door holding a bamboo steamer of dumplings. More accurately it was an innovative Chinese restaurant and bar with a modern, industrial feel and grest views of the Ohio River. Staff and service persons were exceptional! Everyone made you feel like a VIP guest. Our server knew the menu inside-out and gave us a fantastic survey of the selections and best was to approach ordering. The specialty drinks like the bobas were out-of-the-box creative, colorful, and tasted amazing! The food was not what you would get at your typical Chinese food place. It was a culinary adventure to to the eye and absolutely delicious. The best way to go is to have three or more people all share various appetizers and/or entrees. Portions are very generous and easily enjoyed this way. Fried rices and noodles are not included with the entree and are sold separately, but recognize that they are practically meals unto themselves to which you can add chicken, beef, shrimp or vegetables. We ordered one fried rice and easily shared it among three of us. Do not miss the the classy black SALTY EGG YORK BUNS with edible metallic gold swipes! The name is misleading. There is nothing salty about them. In fact they are sweet and could easily be enjoyed as a dessert. The prices may reflect a higher standard of eating experience, but overall one gets a lot of bang for the buck. read more

Tasty food. Great ambiance. Service needs a lot of work... both FOH and BOH. We went on a Saturday afternoon when it wasn't busy. FOH seemed chaotic and disorganized. Orders are placed on a tablet and from the time my words came out of my mouth to the time the server had to press a button she had forgotten what I said. Kitchen seemed to move very slow for the volume of people in the restaurant at the time. The dumplings stuck to the parchment paper so you have to be extremely careful with the soup dumplings to not lose the soup. Giant glass of wine for a good price. Dumplings were all priced right and everything tasted really good. Service needs work all around otherwise this place won't last. With the type of food they're serving it might be a better business set up to have this as an order at the counter and pick your seat type of place. Went here for my and my husbands first wedding anniversary. We ordered the calamari appetizer and a boil with crab, muscles, and shrimp to share between us. It was a large portion! We had food left over; so great portion sizes. We are spice lovers and enjoyed it at the highest spice level of 3. I do feel that other boil places in Cincinnati I have tried have better taste in their boil bag sauces. Calamari was over cooked, barely taste the calamari; primarily just taste the batter. Great beer and wine selection. Service was really slow but also feel that because they're new they're still trying to work out the kinks. Overall great portion sizes, great alcohol selection.
