Incredible! The staff made us feel like family as soon as we walked in. Our kids had a blast! Our chef was soooo fun and had us laughing the entire time he cooked. Of course I had to support a Guatemalan owned restaurant!! This review is for two separate birthdays I attended here around a month ago. The service was immediate and attentive, never meeting our glasses get half empty, very helpful with meal suggestions, and overall kind. The meal came out very quickly even though it was for a 10+ person party! I ordered the chicken hibachi meal, and the rice so crispy and fresh while the vegetables and chicken were throughly cooked and flavorful! As it is a Japanese food and style restaurant, the art on the walls gives an air of elegance to the place. We are so thrilled Aji Ichiban opened in this new location where the old Washington Platform restaurant used to be! Their "yummy-Yummy sauce is simply the best! Hibatchi shrimp and Hibatchi chicken with shrimp are our favorites and their fried rice is so great! The ambiance is very cozy with booths and tables and they have a full bar with a nice wine selection. Everything is new and clean. They don't cook in front of you but bring the food to your table. I think I like this better. They have a private room with a karaoke machine and can host private parties. This is a family owned business and they treat you like family. Warning - that yum-yum sauce is totally addicting! Highly recommend the new Aji Ichiban!! read more

Great Food! Empty on a Friday Night We went to Aji last night for the first time. We had some gift cards to spend since one of our clients did the electric for them. There were 7 of us and wondered if we would get in on a Friday night at 7:00. My friend made a reservation. We used to eat at this building all the time when it was Washington Platform and loved it. When we all arrived - there was only another couple at a booth and bar had 2 people. We were very surprised and wondered if the food was good. There was only one person taking orders and working the bar so service was a little slow initially taking our drink and food order. Once the drinks came - the food came out quickly and was delicious. The soup, salad and hibachi food was excellent. Large portions and very flavorful. Especially the ginger dressing for the salad was best I have had. The filet and shrimp was cooked to perfection. Server seemed disappointed we had gift cards. Of course we tipped on the full amount. After a 1/2hr we were the only ones in the restaurant. Hopefully they survive because we definitely would go back. But if it's that slow on a Friday night - it's not looking good. The Asian food festival was starting the next day. Hopefully it was the lack of parking for that setup that caused them to have a slow night. Can't survive with having no Friday night crowd. They did a great job of painting the inside and kept the same setup as Washington Platform. Again - food was excellent! read more

We ate there Friday night - staff was very welcoming, drinks were good, food was better, and we even got hugs on the way out! Soup, salad (with ginger dressing), and hibachi meals were all done well! We love hibachi and couldn't wait to try out the new downtown Aji Ichiban, it exceeded our expectations! Everything we had was bursting with flavor, so delicious starting with the hot ginger tea and shrimp tempura appetizer, best tempura we have had in years! We ordered the Steak and Shrimp Hibachi along with the Yakisoba noodles. The Japanese Onion and Mushroom soup was so flavorful and the salad with ginger dressing was fresh and so tasty. The steak was cooked to perfection along with the shrimp and a generous portion of fried rice along with zucchini, onions and mushrooms, with such appetizing seasoning. The Yakisoba noodles were to die for, so amazing my husband and I said we could eat them every day! Their Yum Yum sauce and Brown Ginger sauce was the best we've had at any hibachi spot. We shared the leftovers tonight and somehow it all tasted even better than it did the first time. We will definitely be back and bring the rest of our family for this wonderful dining experience! read more
