I have wanted to go to The Härth Room for quite some time so was excited when we happened to be a few doors down at an event this afternoon and finally had the chance to stop in! It was cold outside so it was the perfect time to visit, since they have multiple fireplaces and it's nice and cozy inside. It was early afternoon and not busy, so the only employee we saw was the bar, but she kept everyone's drinks full and was very friendly. She told us to have a seat wherever we wanted but to come to the bar to order our drinks. We both got cocktails, an Old Fashioned and a Kentucky Mule and both were quite good. They don't have much food, just some pre-packaged chips and such but some of the chips were from China with pretty odd flavors, so that was kind of fun to give a try. The photos I have seen online don't do this place justice. It's cute and comfy and super clean. Even the women's bathroom had cute decor! As we were leaving, a band was setting up to play later that evening. I was pleasantly surprised to see they often have live music and on Fridays and Saturdays, they have a band from 5-7 and another from 8-10. read more

We were seated in the far back, away from the stage, but we could still hear & enjoy the music. The waiters were attentive, but also gave us our space, which allowed us plenty of time & privacy to drink & talk. The bar itself was very warm & welcoming, with fireplaces & dim lighting. We ordered the espresso martini & the amaretto sour. The espresso martini was too strong- both the vodka & the coffee- for my taste, but I definitely prefer sweeter drinks. The amaretto sour was delicious though. We also got a slice of tiramisu, which also had a strong coffee flavor but was better balanced. Took a Visit to the Hearth Room recently. Band Musicians were really talented, nice atmosphere but fount the cocktails ti have more ice than booze in them. I feel they canted to push me out as soon as I was done with the food. I was really there for the Jazz Music. One of the male servers or managers was rude, I was just sitting for the last song after paying my bill, just sitting there quietly and he came over to ask if I was all right. Date night! We had a wonderful experience and loved our evening out. This is an amazing spot downtown that I've been too many times when I used to travel to Cincinnati for work. With its location two short blocks from the Renaissance Marriott I would walk down the street to enjoy a cocktail and live music after a busy work day. Now that I live here I plan to take advantage of its proximity and cool vibes more frequently. Earlier in the week I attended a morning networking event and had an amazing almond milk latte at a chamber event. I couldn't wait to return and have the espresso martini which I did later in the week. It's a place you will want to return too again and again. It's my favorite Cincy bar. This place is a magical oasis away from everyday life. With dark mood lighting, fantastic service, clean bathrooms, and yummy drinks, HARTH feels like an escape from the bustle of the city outside. You can pretty much forget about the outside world. They also have multiple fireplaces which provide a luscious amount of heat! HARTH just feels like an *experience*. Be aware you're going to pay for that experience, but it felt very, very worth it in the end. Definitely wear your nicer clothes (not formal, but not t-shirt and ripped jeans), though, or you'll feel left out. (For those who dislike loud spaces, definitely come mid-day and seat yourself away from the live music near the front of the store.) PROS: -Loved that the focus was on seating. So many cocktail establishments seem to opt into standing-room where this place had amazingly comfortable seating to really enjoy the ambiance of the place. -Variety of seating too! We ended up sitting at a plushy booth, but they also had high-top tables and low-top chairs. There was also bar seating too. A couple tables had room for 6 people (and you could grab a few chairs) if you had a larger party. -Drinks were good! A few were a little more tart/bitter than my liking, but after we let the bartender know that I prefer drinks on the sugar-y side, she had quite a few recommendations that were fantastic. (Lots of off-menu options from a very knowledgeable bartender). -Purchasable snacks. No food here. As the place is pretty much run by the bartender (which started at one person and graduated to 3 as we moved into Friday evening), there just isn't the staff for a kitchen. Instead, HARTH has a shelf full of different pre-packaged (like lunch box-sized) snacks. It was $2.50 for a bag of pretzels. Yep, they're definitely cheaper at the grocery store, but I really appreciated that they were there, and they felt amazing after a few drinks. -Clean bathrooms that continued the place's ambiance while adding more light (because, y'know, needed). CONS: -Cocktails are expensive. I would love to see them put a menu online so you know what you're getting into. Expect to spend $12-18 per drink. If you want to experience but at a lower price point, their beers are in the $4 to $7 range. -There are two gigantically large TVs near the bar. With the size of the place, these TVs provide a large amount of light and take up a lot of real estate on the wall. I'm split on whether I like them. On one hand, they really are jarring from the calm, deeply lit world of HARTH. On the other hand, they started off playing drone compilations of beautiful places on Earth - then moved to playing an old, kitschy black-and-white movie with subtitles, so it wasn't horrible. Lexi was our server and she was pleasant, helpful, and very service oriented. The only reason I am giving The Harth Room a "maybe" is because of Dave.... He was rude, arrogant and had no interest in even trying to accommodate a request we had about seating and even walked away mid sentence. Everyone can have a bad day but there's no need to be rude to customers especially when the drinks are so overpriced. We would have stayed for another drink but he made another rude comment and we decided to leave. Too bad because Lexi was great and the atmosphere was very cool but this guy was full of himself and needs to learn how to speak to people. read more

Visited on a Friday night and this place was PACKED! The vibes here are great - there is tons of seating, an interesting bar, and live music - how could it be better?! We had to wait in a little line to get our beverages and all opted for cocktails off their cocktail list - each cocktail was $12-$16 We were able to grab a booth/table in the back of the place where we could still hear the live jazz music, but also hear each other talk and have good conversation. It looks like they have a coffee bar during the day that I would love to come back and try! Come here for: a solid Moscow Mule that you'll sip while listening to a live jazz band on a Saturday Night. At least, that's what we experienced. It rocked. The bartender was incredibly kind and noticed that when one lady said all of her seats were reserved, he brought up an extra chair to the bar so my husband and I could both sit. He definitely went out of his way to be accommodating. We both just got Kentucky Bourbon Barrel beers, but they came with chilled glasses and that's how you know they're #fancy. Bromwell's Härth Lounge clearly respects the cocktail aesthetic. Came in early on a Wednesday night to live music (Billy on piano and Annie belting out a smooth jazz version of "Creep" by Radiohead,) and an intimate crowd of regulars. The space is lushly decorated with beautiful, eclectic furniture and artwork (one of the benefits of being owned by Bromwell's, a lovely furniture store next to the lounge in downtown Cincinnati.) The lighting was dark, but not too dark. Lended itself to the intimate vibe the place was putting out. Bartender Jared recommended an Old Fashioned... "We appreciate the classics here." You're singin' my song Jared. Their version had a little extra spice thanks to a healthy dose of the very aromatic Fee Brothers bitters. Normally I prefer my Old Fashioned fairly sweet, but this was different, complex, and very good. Their dark cocktail cherries added a luxurious high-end finish to this classic, well-executed beauty. As I settled in to enjoy my drink, I struck up a conversation with Jared and Lilly, the other bartender. It was my first time in Cincinnati (first hour really... I had dropped my bag in the hotel room and sped over to check this place out!) They talked with pride about their city, shared some videos from their phones from the Blink festival that had just happened downtown (amazing artistic projections on many of the historic buildings downtown... so sorry I missed it!) As they shared more about other bars and restaurants they recommended, others at the bar chimed in. More came and sat down and jumped right into the conversation as well. Within 30 minutes I felt like I had made some great new friends. They all were proud of their town, proud of their bar, and welcoming to a guy who just discovered all of it for the first time. As I polished off my Old Fashioned, I asked Lilly what she recommended... warning that I was giving myself a two-drink maximum. After all, I was in Cincinnati for work the next morning. Before she could answer, one of my new friends at the bar interjected, "Oh, you have to give him a Way Back When!" "Now that sounds interesting, do tell," I said. Lilly explained as she mixed... essentially it is an Old Fashioned served up, but made with Demerara syrup instead of sugar. She stirred it vigorously, and then flamed the orange twist before sliding it into the drink next to another of their fabulous cocktail cherries. It was the color of a deep cabernet, and was almost creamy in texture, singing with the spicy Fee Brothers, burnt orange and Demerara. Definitely one I will be trying to recreate when I get home. (See the photo.) If in Cincinnati, Bromwell's HÄRTH Lounge is not to be missed. Plan to stay a while, meet the locals, and enjoy some fabulous drinks and music. I've been here multiple times and never been disappointed. The ambiance is really nice, and there are multiple places to sit with varying types of seating styles. I've always found the bartenders to be helpful and fun. There are lots of delicious cocktails to choose from, and they use high quality ingredients. Get something with a cherry--trust me! Love this cozy swanky little bar. Great for after dinner drinks with friends or even a first date. The vibe in the winter is warm and jazzy. The decor makes you want to curl up on one of their sofas with a hot(alcoholic) beverage! I enjoy the vibes! They typically have a local band perform soft quiet music. The drink menu is broad which I love. And not super overpriced. They also have the full bar so if you prefer and different type of drink, they've got you covered. I was really impressed with the hot toddy like drinks. Perfect on a cold day. Warning: if you are on the hungry side, don't come here. The apps are only lite chips, nuts, cheeses or hummus. It's nice to have a jazz bar in Cincinnati to change things up from the normal scene. I had no idea this place existed and it's further away from most the downtown bars. My friends and I were looking for a chill Friday night and decided to come here after dinner for drinks. The atmosphere is warm and relaxing with mood lighting and live jazz bands. They change up the bands and have a live band every night, and I have to say the bands are amazing. The drinks are fancy and remind me of Sundry and Vice, with just slightly faster service. It still takes a while to get drinks with just 1 bartender most the night. Great for date night or girls night out, but not my jam for friends night out. The crowd is skewed slightly older at least on a Friday night and not too many places to sit for larger groups. Overall, a great way to change things up a bit and give more options around downtown. read more
