I was on the search for a new computer tech/computer support and repair business for my boss and found Castro Computer Services. I noticed their excellent Yelp reviews and decided to give them a call. Susan helped me on the business end, and Raj on the tech end. Susan was beyond helpful and very accommodating. I also appeciate the way she handled my ignorance in terms of computer knowledge. I was not talked down to and I was treated respectfully. Awesome! Raj was great too- quick and efficient, and no BS! Another awesome. I'll definitely use this company again. read more

Thanks for saving the music on my crashed iPod...and saving it to Google Play was a stroke of brilliance. Charges were fair and as quoted, service was honorable and timely...I appreciate the job well done! read more

I overpaid for the work they did on my laptop. I am not happy with the result and should have put that money toward a new one. They have been good in the past, but not happy with the work done recently. Not sure I will be back. read more

We own a small international travel business, when our 10 year old Mac Airport network went down this week, everything stopped. Raj came by the same day we called him. In two hours he completely redesigned, and rebuilt the entire network that spans three floors. Our network has never performed better or faster. Raj is simply the best tech we have ever worked with. Highly recommended. read more

Raj makes the complicated seem simple. When we had to transfer data from one computer to another he simply made it happen. While we had no idea how it works he just put everything together flawlessly in a timely manner. We highly recommend Castro Comp Services to anyone who has IT service needs. read more

Castro Computer Services is a professional, friendly, talented & reasonably priced computer repair shop! I am so happy I found them, and I plan to use them anytime I have trouble with my computer. I am confident to refer them to any friend or family member as they take great care in their work, and explore all possibilities. They went above & beyond my expectations. I could not be happier with the service I received, and I feel relieved just knowing I know of them as a go-to for next time. Thanks CCS! read more

The team at Castro is top notch. After a dust-up with one of those nasty virus programs, I was crazed. I had thought I had lost a ton of hard to replace data. But luckily, my friend Menis had told me about Castro. The techs at Castro were able to recover the data, reinstall my core programs and clean-up my XP operating system--heaven! Plus, everyone I met at Castro was professional and really nice. I think, Castro is a great resource for small businesses who need a reliable source for IT help. Check it out. Professional , friendly and competent ... three attributes one would seek in a computer repair shop. I purchased a wireless card to fix a desktop. The problem was not fixed because of desktop defect. CCS accepted the part back without hassle, and took the time to ask me questions and gave me free tips to resolve my problem otherwise. All I wanted was to print 10 color copies of my holiday letter. I asked the person at the counter how to do duplex printing and he said he'd come right over and help me out as soon as I opened the file. I was less than 10 feet away from him, and how long does it take to open a file? Click. It's open. He was nowhere to be found for the next 10 minutes. I gave up. The "services" part of their name is clearly nonexistent. read more

I sold a computer to them awhile back after they gave me an honest opinion about what it would cost to fix. It was great to go in and not feel like I was getting taken advantage of, would totally go back. read more

These guy's were great and not only helped me solve my urgent PC issue, they helped relieve a huge burden of stress that I had build myself upon over nearly a week of critical work and PC failure. After my CPU fried on me while working on Thurs. (the music went into a deep hiss and the screen totally froze,) I went into total panic mode, wondering if my documents had saved and how I was gonna get my boss the content he needed to go live by Monday!!! My PC wasn't initializing the bios, and I knew I had to get my critical data right away. I called the guys I usually do, remain calm, and they did not have the room to take me in. So I called another guy Rich at Grey Matter, who was able to get me my critical data in 2 days time, while having issues with the external I gave him to transfer too and having to bring him a whole new one after the first one failed.........I think you are getting the gist of this situation.....By Saturday I think I had my files and was in the clear for Monday deadline, though I still did not have my personal PC I use for work, which is my essentially my wife as a gay male, as I honor and worship her. I use my PC for personal and work use; she is a massive silverstone fortress 2 chassis -- all custom by digital storm-- and I definitely won't be giving her up anytime soon. All in all after calling the manufacturer, finding out my warranty status, then just buying the parts and installing it all myself; my computer still didn't want to boot. I took it in to Castro Computer Services and they assured me after a rush order on the SAME DAY I took it in, that I had done my upgrades properly and I just didn't not port an extra fan that the new mobo needed the other one didn't. I feel like if I had just brought her here in the fist place I wouldn't have gone through all the stress and trouble. I now just need to upgrade my cooling system, and I will be set. These guy's also talked some sense into me as to my PC builds without having to say much. Something my friends have been trying to do for years :p. Thank you Mark for helping me laugh!! There is also an in-shop jungle that will keep you and your kids occupied while they get you set up at the register. IT guys are sexy!!! read more

very happy with Raj, my computer issue was dealt with right away. Great service

The folks who work at CCS are the greatest, smartest and most attentive to details. I took one of the SpyWare classes and learned a lot. My computer has never worked better. read more

As good as it gets. They know computers- fixed both my laptop and an older desktop which was riddled with spyware. They are very realistic and do not attempt to rip you off- recommended that I would be better off buying a new desktop rather than upgrading the older one- they even did the cost analysis and made recommendations on a system for me. FYI: I'm a small businessman and don't have an IT person at my beck and call. No problems with communication- calls returned if they couldn't answer right then. Great asset in the nighborhood, read more

I obviously don't spend much time writing reviews--but this one is merited, and long overdue. Many months ago I left a laptop at Castro with a crashed hard drive, just to see if any of the files could be recovered. They were immediately up front with me, letting me know it was unlikely, especially without a big investment, but that they'd give it a shot. They called a few days later to let me know that indeed the whole thing was shot (no surprise) and that I could come pick it up at any point. Two months and several calls later I finally show up, and I am told there won't be any charge. I'm not sure if they're into publicizing the idea that they'll work for free, but they certainly earned my future business. read more

I had been playing with the settings on my old Dell laptop when I performed a system restore and when I turned on my computer again the screen was TOTAL black. After attempting to install 2GB in a brand new asus netbook and failing to connect one cable, I took my computer down to this shop, which I've seen for years but never been in. Boy, was I in luck. The next time I need help or equipment I'm going there first! thank you! read more

I know as much about computer troubleshooting as I do about car repair. Mike is always there to patiently explain the problem & choice of solutions in language I can understand. I needed a quote for damage done to my computer when a TSA agent dropped it during travel in order to get reimbursed. I called that morning, Susan got back to me right away. I will never bring my computer here again. The staff is NOT friendly. I asked them to fix one thing and they told me the price was $99 an hour but if it took a half hour, that's all I would have to pay for. Well, without asking me first, they "cleaned" my computer and charged me for an hour. Then they tried to sell me hundreds of dollars worth of stuff. Don't trust this place. read more

I've got it easier because I can carry my computer down the street to Castro Computer Services. But I would drive across town for the valued service I have received here. Heck, I'd drive across one of the bridges. Susan and Raj and Mike and Eduardo and other folks here have saved my rear end countless times over the past several years. I use my computer for my livelihood; it has to work or I don't. And since I got my new all-fricked-up iMac (form over function to the nth degree), I spend a lot of time with this crew! (It was Castro Computer that finally successfully transferred over my email data from my old PC. The geniuses at Apple Store had tried three times and told me each time it had worked--it hadn't. [It took Apple geniuses three times even to get the music and photos right, each time with me hauling two sizable computers downtown.] Don't let Apple tell you that data transfer from a PC is easy; it is not, and they do a crummy job of it--never taking time to do it right, just taking time to do it again. Your time.) At CCS, the people are not only highly competent; they are nice. They have good senses of humor. They laugh at my jokes. They tell some good ones of their own. So I am what you might call a very satisfied customer. You will be too! Craig McGarvey read more

Check out this review! It's much closer to what I experienced with them than the reviews they are shoowing. It's like some of these people weren't even at the same place. This place was GREAT! The staff was super friendly, and didn't try to sell me anything. I don't know where the other reviewer was, but it couldn't have been where I went. My 6 year old laptop screen cracked, and when I went in, they told me that it would cost more to fix than the computer was worth, and encouraged me to NOT use their services because I could better spend my money getting a new computer. They gave me a list of recommendations to make shopping for a new computer easier. When I get the new computer, I'll be going back to have my stuff on my old computer moved to the new one. Thanks guys! read more

a 100% class act, great work, great price, fast, thorough and friendly

I have used Castro computer Services for many, many years and have never been disappointed. Last night I feared my PC was dead - or at least, in a coma. I called this morning and Susan said she could have a tech come out later in the morning. For my convenience, I sheduled the tech at 4 PM. Tap showed up on time and well prepared. He was skilled and efficient (as I have always found CCS techs to be). It took him only a few minutes to diagnose the problem. In addition to fixing it, he deleted many unused or unusable programs and files, making the computer run much faster. Hew as personable and cheerful and took time to explain everything. Castro Computing ROCKS! read more

We called last night as our business computer system was working as it should. If yelp would let me, I would give them 10 stars! These guys are great! They are honest, helpful and aren't trying to rip you off. Like most cases, it's best to go into the store as they really need to take a look at your computer so they can properly diagnose the issue. No bull shit. Honest, friendly crew. Susan is the sweetest. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who is having computer issues! read more

susan diagnosed and repaired my macbook pro quickly and for a very fair price. i highly recommend!

They know their stuff, but (1) their estimates are misleading, which is to say (2) they're criminally overpriced; not to mention (3), they are very bad at scheduling appointments. I sometimes had the impression I was putting in a new kitchen and not just asking for a routine computer repair. Susan is friendly but untruthful. read more

Raj, S worked on my first computer and that must have been 20 years ago. Since then, he and the techs at Castro Computing have helped me with a variety of computer problems. Their service is great and I especially appreciate the clear communication - explaining things in ordinary language. They've consistently diagnosed problems correctly and recommended the least expensive fix. I've gotten terrific support over the phone, too. Honest, competent and dpendable - this a great place. read more

These guys are just the best. I've used them a couple of times for 'big' jobs -- once to rehab my crashed PC and once to set up a new one and transfer old files -- and I've always been completely satisfied with their work, their price, etc. But this time I was having a pain-in-the-neck problem with my cheapie printer. The guy I talked to on the phone (after a couple of other shops had told me they don't work on desk-top printers) said he wasn't sure he could help but if I would bring it in he'd take a look for no charge. So I did, and in about 5 minutes he fixed it. It wasn't really so complicated -- he just found a menu that I thought was there somewhere but couldn't find and so couldn't install a new ink cartridge (the operator's manual is no help, to say the least). He fixed it and then showed me what he'd done so I can do it next time. I said, you have to let me pay you. And he said, I can't, I didn't do anything. Well, I beg to differ. I couldn't make him take any money but he (and the others who have done work for me) have got my business forever. Competent, conscientious, courteous, cool. read more

I have used them for years for help with several computers of vastly varying ages and more than one business. They are consistently competent and helpful and knowledgeable about multiple aspects of the computer business. Friendly, fast and professional service. Both on the phone and in person, the guys of CCS were very helpful with my computer problem. I have worked with Raj and Susan for over four years now. I recently began working with Mike who is very helpful. These guys are amazing. They work very hard. They are also very honest, and if they think it will be a bigger hassle to fix the problem then what the computer is worth, they say so. They are folks with a lot of integrity. Frankly, I think these guys should start designing their own computer because it would work and last a lot longer than the planned obsolescence we currently are in the midst of. read more

I think these guys are great. My laptop crashed a few months ago and I brought it to them to fix. It was a lost cause (failed hard drive) but they were able to save and transfer almost all my data to a new laptop. The price was very reasonable ($200 or so) because even though the problem took a long time to diagnose, they just charge a flat fee, not by the hour. They were also very helpful with follow up questions regarding my e-mail settings, and when I called (on numerous occasions) with additional questions like what kind of backup hard drive to invest in, what kind of charger they recommend, etc. I really get the sense that they are trying to serve my needs and not just make a buck. read more

What a great group. They not only came when scheduled, they tried to get me inand fixed a couple days earlier. My computer was almost completely shut down, which also kills my sound system. Honest service, reasonable prices ...Raj was extremely organized and efficient...I would highly recommend him and his organization.

Although Comcast claimed they were sending me 90 mbps down, my computer was only seeing around 30. Raj diagnosed the problem to an old router provided by Vonage (for my phones), which could only handle lower speeds. He recommended an Apple Extreme, and an Apple Express to replace my other Netgear router downstairs. Once the parts came, Raj returned and set everything up, and 'tweaked' the Vonage router. Not only am I getting my true 90 mbps down, but my wireless performance downstairs has improved considerably. He was in and out in less than an hour, and my down time was minimal.
