On the way home from a weekend fishing trip in the White Mountains, I was in the mood for Mexican food and I wanted to try a new place (new to me) and Casa Ramos was it. The restaurant looks like it was converted from a 1950's lodge or old hotel on the outside. Really big inside...tons of booth seating available. We were greeted quickly and had our drinks within 5min along with the chips and salsa. Their salsa was really good! I went with a bean burrito, green enchilada style. My friend got the chicken tacos and he loved them. My dish was good, the beans were perfect! It also came with what I thought was a garnish of lettuce....you know, typical for Mexican cuisine with beans and rice. It was actually coleslaw....i tried it, wasn't a fan. Overall, on a scale of 1 to 10, it was good, I left full and satisfied, but I'll look for a new place to eat (and maybe BBQ) next time I'm in Heber.

Food was ok. Service was good, quick to refill drinks and staff very friendly. Ambiance ok. Has an old Mexican restaurant feel to it. Kind of like a macayos, Garcia's or serranos.

After a long drive from California heading toward Pinetop AZ, my cousin called me to tell me I needed to give this place a try. So, once I arrived I pulled into the parking lot and strolled in with my family. This place gives off a "hole in the wall" vibe, with no frills. We walked in and were seated promptly. A lot of people were here so we thought that was a good sign. We were given two baskets of chips and two bowls of salsa. Our drink orders were taken, and we started right away on the chips and salsa. The chips and salsa always make the first impression with me, so if they start bad, I know the food will suck. The chips and salsa passed the test. No complaints. We perused the menu and your typical items were in on the menu. We did see at the bottom of a page that the first bowl of chips was on the house. Subsequent refills were $1 a pop. What the hell? Eh, ok whatever. We looked on the menu to see if queso was an option. The only thing they had was queso with meat inside. We asked the waitress if just queso by itself was an option, to which she replied "no, we don't have anything like nacho cheese." She gave us a weird look like the request was far fetched. We told her that we were from Texas, so that was why we asked. She gave a condescending smirk, and walked off. The wife and I were still undecided of what we wanted. The waitress came back and we ordered fajitas for dos. Beef and chicken. The entree on the menu specifically listed 6 tortillas. No more, unless you want to pay for extras. Again, what the hell? Eh, ok. In good time the fajitas came. We heard them coming from the kitchen all the way to us just a sizzling and rolling smoke. A good sign. They were placed in front of us with the fixin's to accompany them. Beans, rice, guacamole, and sour cream. All of it looked yummy, minus the brown guacamole. We got right to making our fajita tacos to our liking. The beef was leaving a weird orange stain on the tortilla, to which I realized was the seasoning on the fajitas. Strange.. ok... Took the first bite, and was instantly turned off. The fajitas were seasoned with taco meat. What the hell? What kind of place is this? I've never seen fajitas seasoned with taco meat. I finished the first taco, and threw in the towel. I at the beans, rice, and my two other tortillas, with no complaints there. I really wanted to give this place a good review. I am usually a "give me Tex-mex, or give me death," kinda guy, but I was going out of my comfort zone to give this place a shot. Next time I will just stay in my lane and stay with what I know. I do not recommend this place, and suggest you keep driving by. Other good alternatives are not too far down the road. I am going to call my grandmother and make sure my cousin is actually related to the family. Horrible recommendation. Haha. Enjoy.

My family had not been here in years. Honestly the service we had last was not good. Not pleasant and food was nothing extraordinary. And to finish off that experience there was a charge for additional chips. Fast forward to this past weekend. We drove down from Show Low to give it another try as we had read several yelp reviews saying it was under new management. Two people on the party had a cheeseburger and fries and the other two of us had a combination off the lunch menu. The taco was crunchy and the beef inside shredded was delicious. we asked for extra salsa anything that was hotter than what they were serving and they brought us the green salsa which was extremely hot. Just what we needed and was great for the taco. The decor was the same as the last time we were there. It wasn't very busy right opening, but at the end of the hour approaching 12 on Saturday it was filling up pretty fast. The service was outstanding and the servers were pleasant. Our drink glasses were kept full Both with water or soda whichever we had. We were able to sequester some extra chips without an extra charge. I honestly didn't even look to see on the menu if they still did that. The crew that was working just seem to want to aim to please and always had a friendly smile. we will definitely be back for lunch. Not sure about dinner as the prices were a little bit higher than what we pay in Show Low. But that being said it was a beautiful drive down the 260 highway and we gave this place another try and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Update #2. The food and service have been consistently top notch. We had the fajitas again last Friday night. They come out really hot and sizzling. The seasoning is spot on and the onions are cooked just to the edge of caramelization without being mushy.

Chile verde enchilada, bean burrito with red sauce and rice and beans. Absolutely delicious!

Complimentary valet service greeted us warmly upon arrival as gentlemen opened doors and welcomed us with genuine smiles. Chivalry is alive and well here! The host remembered it was our anniversary and moments later, a complimentary champagne toast arrived! Followed by the most incredible chawanmushi, personally presented by one of the chefs. The porterhouse was out of this world, perfectly sized for two and the Troon Margarita was a revelation. Unlike spots where the views outshine service or food, Talavera delivers on every front. We ended with a complimentary dessert and can't wait to return!

By the time we finished dinner, we were sipping drinks and dessert in that perfect desert dusk moment -- honestly one of the best parts of the experience. The atmosphere felt like a blend of date-night elegance and relaxed family dinners. Some couples were clearly celebrating anniversaries or special occasions while other tables were more casual, which made the space feel welcoming rather than overly formal. Service was attentive and thoughtful throughout the evening. The staff were especially great about checking on allergies, and my hot water pot was constantly refilled before I even had to ask. Food-wise, we tried a mix of tapas and mains. Everything we had was well prepared and flavorful. That said, the price-to-value ratio for some of the entrées didn't fully land for me. The upside? The portions were generous for a fine-dining restaurant. If you're someone who appreciates larger portions at upscale spots, this will definitely work in your favor!!! Hot water rating: 8/10. While refills were constant (amazing), the pot had a few lingering tea leaves in it -- I'm guessing from earlier afternoon tea service. Would I return? Absolutely. Next time I'll likely lean into the tapas and drinks while soaking in the sunset views. And yes... I'll happily give the hot water another try.

The food was actually quite good. That is why I gave 2 stars. The rest of the experience was less than ideal. I arrived on time to pick up my order. The lot was full, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but not convenient. The store had both a front entrance and a take out entrance. Both doors were packed with people. I squeezed into the take out area and witnessed a staff member give a customer his 2 pizzas and 3 salads, saying "you're all set!" Only to have the customer say they were missing 2 items. Then ensues the next 10 min of the staff looking high and low for those 2 items and finally determining that the kitchen did not cook them. All the while knocking other takeout boxes of food onto the ground (at least in boxes) and picking them back up again. Also muttering under his breath "I'm busy and no one is helping me!" When it was finally my turn, he was disorganized and asked me several times my name and when I had placed the order. He eventually found the my order, and in typical Murphy's law fashion, mine was a box that had fallen onto the floor. The burrata caprese was in a clear plastic container and it looked like the dog's breakfast. But by this time, I just wanted to get outta there.

We got here around 1:30 pm just in time for some lunch. As I turned my head to the right, asking what we should eat, we all said "PIEbar" together. Jinx. It's just the perfect little cafe. It's bright yellow so it catches your eye. A line of people waiting to order at the front door was moving fast. Parking is right off the highway and in front of the restaurant. There's also additional parking behind the restaurant down the hill. Stairs come straight up to patio from the lower lot. Beautiful patios surround the restaurant with shaded tables. Gorgeous Ivy covered pines and oaks cover the patio areas. Two gender neutral restrooms available in a separate small building next to the restaurant. I love how the menus are written and posted everywhere and list empanadas in order by popularity. Another thing I appreciate is the size of the empanada and the price. They are small enough and inexpensive enough that you could get a snack but if you wanted to get, let's say five or six because you're hungry for lunch it is still affordable. Service was so friendly and great as we ordered at the counter. I couldn't believe how quickly the ordering process went and we were handed a bag of warm empanadas before we knew it. We ordered: - 1 SAVORY Empanada - The Mountain Man Empanada - sausage, potato gravy, cheese (most popular) - 1 SAVORY Empanada - Chicken Pot Pie empanada (second most popular) - 1 SAVORY Empanada - Picadillo Beef Empanada - shaved beef, diced potato, green chiles, onion, cilantro, tomato, garlic (I got this one and it's #1 in my book) - 1 SAVORY Empanada - Artichoke Dip Empanada (meatless) daughter said this was very good - 1 SWEET Empanada - Apple/Dulce de Leche - warm and yummy! We all split this for dessert. The pastry / shell is very tasty and doesn't taste like some I've tried other places with an artificial taste. It's flaky and filling. Handheld size. Perfect for taking on the go. Each empanada placed in a waxed paper sleeve. They've got a few different very tasty dipping sauces as well. We tried the Creamy Green Chile & Pepita Sauce (mild) and the Chipotle Lime Aioli (mild). Very good flavors and fresh.

They don't really have time to be personable when you've got 15 people in line and more walking up. You kinda gotta get things done.....No rudeness just a busy place and people trying to get things handled to serve their customers as quickly and efficiently as possible. I don't have a problem with that. As for the food, we got five different savory empanadas, and several of their sweet and really the only one that I found not good at all was the pecan, it was very dry and just had a weird texture and flavor that I would not have expected.. All of the savory empanadas were amazing. They are small and premium priced but in a small little touristy area like that, it's what you expect, I'm sure they have to bring in all their product and that means driving and there's extra transportation cost. They don't have a Costco in their backyard so I understand the price is being a little higher, but I didn't feel that they were out of line. Overall, four out of five it's a little tiny open air place, and they are making their empanadas very rapidly baking them and then putting them and holding ovens the temperatures could've been a little higher on the ones that we got that's the only negative that I saw but overall worth stopping in
