Nope. Sorry. I like my Mexican food spicy, and this tomato paste did not do it. Machaca was simply dry meat crumbles. All 4 of us gave unanimous thumbs down with 4 separate meals. Eva makes the experience slight worse, by decorating the place like a Baptist Tent revival (there must be at least 20 Jesus references between parking spot and my table). YUM! My wife is born and raised AZ native so Mexican food is part of her DNA. She was doing a happy dance while eating here. My midwestern self is still learning what good Mexican food is. For the first time I had sauce on my burrito and it was a game changer! My wife has been trying to get me to try that for years and I finally gave in. I had the shredded beef chimichanga and asked for no guacamole on the side and they gave me extra sour cream instead, with no up charge! Our cousins recommended this place as a stop on our way through from Canada. It was some of the best Mexican food I've had. I ordered the seafood chimichanga. It did not disappoint. It was loaded with shrimp and crab. The sauce over it was nicely flavored also. The rice and beans were great too. Most of the time they are flavorless, but the rice actually had flavor, as did the beans. The portions were big too. My son tried the Pollo Especial and really enjoyed it. I think there are enough Christian references on the walls and tables to count eating here as a visit to church. LOL. The food is hot (temperature) and delicious. I was visiting Showlow & stopped in for some dinner. This place was very crowded, but interestingly enough they have two spaces where they do dining. Tables are socially distanced. The building itself looks older which isn't bad. We ordered our food and it came out within 10minutes. The servers were nice. I ordered a Pollo Especial which is a deep fried burrito with shredded chicken. Topped with cheese & green sauce. I will say the meal itself has great presentation, but lacked flavor. Also, my food was more room temperature. Showlow is a smaller town, so I'm sure the quality is just different from the city. Not necessarily going to go back, but glad to have the experience. read more

Yes it's crazy to think of a Mexican restaurant in snowflake Arizona at five stars but honestly I really enjoy this place! Very nice staff all around and kind of a blast from the past with the decoration of the restaurant. It has an old time feel with the wood deck surrounding the restaurant with a throwback feel inside. It really helps the food and service is great and probably is the best place to eat at in the area Everything I've eaten here is pretty delicious like the Mexican pizza which is the size of a medium pizza filled with meat and beans and covered with cheese. Very delicious and easy to share with the table. One of my favorite things to order is the poblano. Oh my goodness, it's soooo good! The poblano is fried with this nice crispy batter with a nice green poblano filled with chicken and then delicious sauces all over the poblano. It's one of the best I've ever eaten and it's become what I order everytime. All around the best place to eat in the area and has everything you want in a delicious Mexican restaurant. So I went back to this place to give it a second try after being disappointed the first time. I was pretty impressed with the quality of service. The staff was super friendly and the server named Karla was super attentive and very friendly. My little boy spilled he's drink on the table and she was there very quickly to clean up and bring my little guy a new drink. The food was also great. I read other reviews about the restaurant being religious. To be honest, that doesn't bother us even though we are not Christian. I mean, this IS a Mormon-founded town, after all.
