I stopped for lunch. Ordered 2 machaca tacos, the tacos were ordered with no cheese or sour cream. Tacos were deep fried with the meat. They came to the table with nothing but lettuce. I did expect some tomato and guacamole. 3 napkins 2 were used to try and absorb the oil from the tacos! Service was ok. There is not much to mention about ambiance. It appears to be an old home. La Casita is making a come back! I used to eat here as a small child. I stopped coming for a while because the food quality had gone downhill. But I'm so happy to say it's come back up. Decided to stop on the way back to PHX from Greer, fast food wasn't in the cards and we didn't want to wait until Payson. I've always seen this little restaurant on the top of the hill but never tried it. For a holiday weekend they were not busy in the middle of the day so that was cool or a warning. Walking in first impression it was hot! Considering day time temps were in the mid to high 80's it seemed very uncomfortable. "Wait to be seated" Okay we waited as there was no one there, in the few minutes we waited we looked around, dirty table, dirty table, dirty table exc. with dishes of past clients still looming. Used to be my wife's favorite mexican food place in the mountains. Not so much anymore! This past Memorial day weekend we went. The service was sub par, slow and not to interested in us as customers. They added tomatoes to my wife's meal, she specifically asked for no tomatoes. They did not bring a side of green onions and when reminded brought out a skimpy plate of frozen chopped green onions. The food was not the same quality as previous visits. I asked for a glass of water about 10 minutes after I drank a beer, wound up sharing my wife's water as I never got mine. The place was not busy as there were only about 4 other parties and what looked like 3 servers. My wife only ate about 1/4 of her food and declined a to go box. The staff greets you like your family, remembers past orders, a really makes us feel like home The best part? The food is authentic & delicious! Sneaky Price Increases and Inattentive Service. So here I was in Show Low Arizona with an empty belly and that hunger deep inside of me. I had driven by this place for years and years and somehow never stopped in for a bite. So hey, let's give it a try... I walked in and a vendor was there taking to someone about soda products and weekend plans... The sign says "Wait To Be Seated" so I stand there. more than 5 minutes goes by until I walk back to the kitchen where everyone is just hanging out since there is only 1 table with humans in the place. I asked if I should sit anywhere or if they had a preference. The girl then grabbed some chips and salsa and put me in the corner. She came back ad asked what I wanted and I said Ill have a chicken burrito and a water. She asked if I wanted it enchilada style and I said surprise me. My food came and still no water... 90 degrees outside means water is as important as the food... I finally got the water and ate this normal Mexican style plain burrito with some sauce on top. For $7 I was thinking it was an ok place with not so great service. I go to pay my bill that nobody brought me as they all live in the kitchen and see a $3.95 charge for enchilada sauce! Seriously, how in the world can some sauce cost more than half of what the food costs?!? I don't have the patience for this nonsense so I paid and have never gone back. Oh, a few side notes. My sweetie asked if we could have our sodas to go...knowing I would need to keep what I did eat down. The waitress said sorry, we only have little cups. What does that even mean? Our waitress also never offered to rectify or even not charge us for this obvious dissapointment of a meal. My wife's was almost as bad as mine, she swears there was cinnamon in her Chimi? I will say there was another waitress who was helpful and when she cashed us out she removed the Nachos. While visiting a friend in Show Low, we discovered this little restaurant sitting atop a hill and decided this was the one. I bet lots of people pass on by this sweet little place not realizing what they're missing. I had a cheese enchilada, rice, and beans and I have to say all three had wonderful, unique flavors unlike what I usually am served. I absolutely loved it. The restaurant is small and cozy inside and the service is friendly and fast. Great prices with lunch specials. Can't ask for more than that. I look forward to eating there again on my next trip to Show Low. read more

(Summer 2017) Location was rented to Italian restaurant for a short lease. But now will reopen as La Casita again soon! Unbeknownst to my spouse and I, we've eaten at every location and love the food!! The other locations are also a family and friends' favorites. La Casita has homestyle Mexican Food. No fluff, just good basic comfort Mexican food. They keep in all in the family, same family as so many restaurants in Globe and Mammoth. Have loved all the La Casita restaurants. So glad they have re-opened. If you looking for fancy Mexican this isn't your place, but if you want good Mexican comfort food, this is it. The building is an old house and not in the best shape, and during part of the year the mountain has flies, so if you read about the flies in a previous post, please realize it's not just La Casita, the flies are everywhere up here in every restaurant, every home, every business. They are impossible to keep under control. We love this place, it reminds me of the Mexican comfort food I use to get in Scottsdale growing up at Los Olivos. This was the worst Mexican Food I have ever had. I have had TV Dinners that were better, even Jack In The Box tacos are better. I ordered tostadas and the refried beans were put on like butter on toast, same with guacamole. The tortilla was so bad that I decided to just scrape off the topping.
