Came in with a Big party on a Friday, Wasn't busy at all. The service was okay. I didn't like how they didn't check up on us or asked if we needed anything. Took our order, dropped our food and left. Always had to call them over to ask for refills and condiments. Walked in the bathroom and one of the employees was vaping inside. Very unprofessional!! My wife and I stopped in for dinner and we enjoyed our meal immensely. We were promptly seated and our servers took our drink order right away and dropped off a basket of tortilla chips and salsa bowls for each of us. We spent about 10 minutes looking over the huge menu and I had a tough time choosing between at least half a dozen tempting choices. My wife chose the fajita chimichanga and I chose the enchilada verdes. We loved our entrees and even the rice and beans were delicious. The place was packed for a Wednesday evening, but the decor and the layout made things feel more intimate. Upon entering, we were warmly welcomed by the hostess and sat in one of their booths. Our server immediately came to our table and took our order. I ordered a chicken enchilada and chicken taco combo and my wife ordered the steak fajitas. Service friendly, attentive, and excellent. Our food was perfectly prepared and delicious. My husband and I have a property in the Show Low area and on occasion will go in to town to try a new restaurant. We have gone to El Charro Beer three times now. The restaurant is beautiful inside! The staff are wonderful. They are friendly and very attentive. The problem for me here is the food. The presentation is always nice. The food is served fresh and hot, but it lacks flavor. It is so bland. Many will say that true Mexican food is a bit bland. It's not traditionally spicey. This I know. If you like really bland food, you will love it. Pasta Mixta - Alfredo with a hint of peppers, perfect shrimp and moist grilled chicken, pasta Al dente. Garlic bread was just enough. No salt needed, one of the best Alfredo sauces I've enjoyed in YEARS other than making my own at home. Beef flautas excellent and bigger/heavier than expected off the ala carte menu section. Green enchilada with just cheese was DEVINE and unexpected (no photo). We grew up on the border and this style of MX food is our favorite. Not sure we've enjoyed a cheese crisp with green chilis as much as tonight on this chilly Sunday. We took a lot home. Too many warm chips and salsa - lol. Now. Bar service is our favorite. Delicious Mexican food and margaritas! We visited El Charro Beer on a Thursday night at the beginning of a snow storm, and it was about a quarter full. The restaurant has a fun decor with plenty of fake greenery and colorful wall accents. Hispanic music played on the speakers during our visit. Before we ordered, we were brought chips and salsa. Neither the chips or salsa stood out. I tried the blue agave margarita and the enchiladas mayito. The margarita was served in a large glass and had a lovely flavor. Each enchilada was paired with a delectable sauce, and the shrimp was perfectly cooked. Overall, I had a fantastic experience at El Charro Beer and would highly recommend them for Mexican food in Show Low. read more

They apologized and said their system was not working. Gave them a second chance with another party of eight. This time we never received our appetizers and were only one meal short for the evening. When we asked for the manager we got the waitress and she said she forgot to put them in to their system. Once again we NEVER GOT THEM. This place is awful. We are local and visit here often. The servers are awesome and always keep our drinks full and check back with us often to make sure everything is OK. The food is different than what else is available currently in Showlow and in Pinetop. It's a good mix of seafood fajitas, tacos enchiladas anything else you could possibly imagine on your Mexican menu. We think their drink menu is pretty extensive and you surely will find something you've not had before. We keep coming back between here and one other competitor down the street. We both think they are equally talented when it comes to food and the service at both locations are excellent. Not going to name the competitor, but if you're local and you eat along the strip, you know who I'm referring to. I think this place is definitely worth a visit. read more
