If I could I would give 10 stars, 1st time wanting to try indian fry bread coming back from New Mexico. Staff so helpful so sweet.Lots to look at with all the antiques . Had the navajo taco, Wow it was so big I couldnt finish it. The friends I was with said they have passed the place a million times and not stopped no more will always stop now.

Mr. Maesta's Cafe is definitely worth a stop along historic Route 66 in Holbrook, Arizona! We visited Mr. Maesta's Cafe for dinner while we were on the road, and it was a charming spot with southwestern cuisine and gifts. We visited on a Thursday evening and the place had a good amount of people dining inside. There's a lot of charm with this cafe, as it really is a roadside attraction in an older building. Then you walk inside and there were a ton of nick nacks and items to purchase for gifts, including petrified wood and rocks. Further in the cafe is the dining area where we sat. The menu had a lot to choose from, with southwestern cuisine, such as green chile stews, enchiladas, and navajo taco. We were provided with complimentary chips and salsa. My partner ordered the green chile burger while I tried the navajo taco. It was my first time having a navajo taco, and I can see why it's a local favorite. The navajo bread is filled with a hefty amount of chili, lettuce, tomato, cheese and onions. It was very filling - and tasty. You have to try a navajo taco while in these parts! My boyfriend enjoyed his green chile burger, which also came with fries smothered with the chile and cheese. We were stuffed, but after seeing the table next to us order a banana cream pie, we decided to share a slice. All of the pies are made in house, and it was soooo delicious! They had a handful of other flavors, but the banana cream was one I highly recommend ordering. Mr. Maesta's Cafe was a great stop while trekking through Holbrook. We enjoyed the charming, historic setting, the delicious food and friendly staff. Now I'll always remember my first time eating a navajo taco!

Green Chili Crisp with meat (ground beef) and a Sopapilla on the side. Free salsa and chips.

Definite Old School Feel with all the retro antiques hanging on and from the ceiling. Our waitress was Great. She was very friendly and attentive. Free table salsa and chips. I had the Green Chili Crisp w/meat, with a Sopapilla on the side to fill with honey. My buddies had the stuffed Sopapilla and a large Buritto. It's nice that both could have green & red sauces. Prices have gone up, but I'm sure everyone is still recovering from the pandemic days.

After leaving the Petrified Forest, needed to refuel. Had a Navajo Taco. Portion was adequate (I shared w/wife). Flavoring was good. Service was pleasant. It isn't quite a 4, but close. I would come back if ever in the neighborhood.

Combination dinner-one of everything. Extremely tasty. I highly recommend it but you will be full when you're finished.

It is very easy to miss this restaurant but don't. The food is fantastic. I had perhaps the best refried beans I have ever, ever had. Whenever I drive up through Holbrook, I make a point to stop here and you should, too. The service was fine and it's such an interesting ambience. There are all kinds of pictures and old western relics than almost anyone would enjoy.

Came here because of the reviews and interior decor. The only downfall is that the menu photos weren't updated. Prices were about $3-4 more than the previous posted menu pics. I've posted updated pics of the menu for everyone. I have been craving a Navajo taco since I first had one a little over a year ago. Sooo good. Got some complimentary chips and salsa. I loved the thin fresh chips and the salsa had a nice kick to it. Got the Navajo taco without tomatoes. It was so good. I opted for the green chili vs red. I love green chili. The fry bread was so fluffy and perfect. It's like a taco cloud of goodness. Also got a tamale and the ham and cheese with fries. The ham and cheese you can't go wrong with making. It was made with thick cut ham and nicely grilled bread. The fries were nice and potatoey. I recommend stopping here for a great Navajo taco for sure. The interior of the place along with the IQ test games on the table are pretty cool.

Azteca: Where My Stomach Says 'Me Gusta!'…read more We've been to El Azteca a handful of times now, and it's truly one of our go-to spots for Mexican food. We usually stop by after church, and it never disappoints. Our latest orders were the Carne Asada and the Texano Fajitas--both so flavorful, and the servings are just right. We have to ask to-go boxes after. The ambience is really nice--clean, cozy, and I've always loved their booth seating. The staff is always welcoming and friendly the moment we walk in. And yes, they serve freshly cooked chips right away (always a plus for me!) along with their perfect salsa. My husband and I both love Horchata, and we never skip ordering each of us a big glass of that creamy cinnamon goodness. We've also tried their Camarones a la Crema--shrimp sautéed with mushrooms in a creamy sour cream sauce. Rich, comforting, and perfect with the rice and refried beans on the side. Their fajitas for two with steak come out sizzling, exactly how fajitas should. The flavor is on point, and honestly, it could feed more than just two people. The chorizo and eggs always hit the spot, and the enchilada suiza with egg and green sauce is another favorite. It is simple, comforting, and solid every time. Always a great experience here, and we'll definitely keep coming back.

Wife ordered the fish tacos combo, I had to try the 3 item . Fish tacos not impressive. To me, fish did not taste in its prime. Supposed to be mahi mahi, a bit tough & chewy. On the other hand, we both liked the beans & rice. My tamale was mediocre but the chile relleno was excellent! Gave the beef flauta to my wife to sub for the fish tacos. Overall, filling, satisfying meal in a nice place with nice staff. Prices are the usual, kinda high! The option is eating at home, and we're on VACATION!

Absolutely blown away by our experience at Aliberto's!…read more We happened to stop in when they were slammed--I'm talking packed and clearly super busy--but Bri still found the time to make our experience nothing short of wonderful. From the moment we walked in, she greeted us with the kind of warm welcome that instantly makes you feel like family. What really impressed us was that, despite the rush, she took the time to give specifics about every question we had on the menu. She even offered helpful suggestions (which ended up being spot-on, by the way). I had accidentally ordered a canned soda, but when I told her we preferred a fountain drink instead, she didn't hesitate for a second. No attitude, no making me feel bad--just pure, genuine service. She literally ran to grab us a cup, and later I found out that the fountain drink actually cost more. But she just smiled and said it was no big deal. That kind of above-and-beyond service is rare these days, and it left a lasting impression. I've driven past Aliberto's at least a hundred times and never stopped. But believe me when I say, that has changed forever. I will make it a mission to stop here every single time I pass through--even if it's just for their horchata, which is a solid 10/10. And let's talk about the food--SO GOOD. Their tacos? Massive and packed with flavor. Everything we tried was fresh, delicious, and satisfying. Even though poor Bri was clearly being pulled in every direction and running around because they were so busy she still managed to keep a positive attitude and give everyone around her that same warm, welcoming energy. She is the heart and soul of this place, and honestly, she alone gives Aliberto's a reputation worth bragging about. Do yourself a favor--don't just drive by. Stop in, grab some tacos and horchata, and if you're lucky enough to be helped by Bri, you're in for something special.
