    One Each Chorizo Pie

Super Cool outside eating area! They even have hoola hoops :-) The chorizo pie tasted excellent - next time get one plus one "Mountain Man" since they fit in your palm :-) Pretty Speedy! Great Service - I forgot to ask for Military Discount, so check :-)

The best empanadas ever!!!!! (Or that I have tasted). Both the savory and sweet were delicious. My favorite is the cherry empanada! Lines can be long and average wait time is 20ish minutes. I made the mistake of not ordering all at once and because of that I had to line up twice! we brought home a few and its still good when reheated using the airfryer!

Recommend: Yes. Definitely a spot to check out in Strawberry, AZ. This place is definitely popular with people from outside of town. Food: Empanadas were good! We got The Mountain Man, the Picadillo Beef, and Philly Cheese Steak. My favorite was the Philly cheese steak. Flavor 4/5. Service: quick, nice, and they have restrooms for public to use. My boyfriend and I were driving down from flagstaff and found this place. They were decent size and you can get a sauce with it for 85cents. Everything tasted great but I do have to say the Philly cheese steak one was my favorite. It had a lot of the pepper taste. The others were great as well but wasn't as flavorful as the Philly cheese steak. I still think this is a great place to stop and check out. They also have pies but we didn't get any since we just wanted a small snack.

One of the coolest places and very unique to go to. Tons of flavor options for the empanadas. No line for us about 30 mins after they opened. Service was really friendly and quick. The apple one was fantastic in addition to the breakfast ones and pot pie one. Tons of flavors going on all in one bite! I can't wait to come back and try more flavors next time around. If you're in the area or taking a day trip to get away from the heat in the valley this is a must stop.

Menu indoor for reference while waiting to order.

We didn't eat here because the empanadas are made with lard, which makes them not vegetarian. Only whole pies are sold that are not made here. Sadly we left. Staff answered our queries so they were helpful. Cute kiosk with a long line and lots of outdoor seating, so very popular place.

    These were what we choose.

How have I not had empanadas before this? And what a great find to try them! PIEbar is a cute little walk in walk out empanada shop in a small town in AZ. You read the menu offerings while in line and when you get to the register they grab what you want and you are on your way. The staff were all friendly and helpful. I asked why it took 3 days to make them and was told they do not use yeast. So these need time to "rise." Ok the food. Wow. These small little pouches are filled with all kinds of goodness. We ordered 4, 3 savory and one sweet, and split them. Wow. Look, I don't know your tastes and what you like, but I'm posting a picture of the menu so you can see, they have a filling for pretty much anyone. The Green Chile and Buffalo chicken were my 1 and 2. And the LEMON one... I wanted to buy them out! 2 things to note that I did not deduct any stars from was if you want a sauce they charge, (pretty common nowadays,) and the seating is all outdoors. They do a good job of providing shade but in this summer heat, it's a little warm. Again no deduction. Go here!

My husband and I stopped here for a snack on our way up to Flagstaff. It did not disappoint! Saturday morning we were among the first dew in line waiting to open. We ordered and got our empanadas as we checked out. They do offer whole pies if you're interested! Here's my ratings of each: Picadillo beef: 10/10 Egg breakfast: 7/10 Apple ducle de leche: 9.5/10 Strawberry and cream: 8/10 This will be a spot we spot by from now on in the future!

Road trips are made for special treats like this When my friend called and said meet me at the PieBar I was like ummm what My foodie brain immediately defaulted to a bar full of... well pie So imagine my surprise when I arrived and saw that I could pretty much build my own empanada An empanada I appreciate the staff for allowing me to take my time skimming the menu because who could have known there would be soooo many options when it comes to empanadas Now as a an extra bonus they do indeed also have pie there I couldn't tell how they tasted because I dipped out of there with about 5 different empanadas so my tummy didn't have any room for pie Here were my favorites listed from most delicious to still delicious just not as delicious as the one above it Ready.... Let's rank them: 1. The mountain mama Let's talk about FLAVOR!!! Now my boyfriend was like ummm that's a veggie empanada but there was bacon in it and pepper flakes that offered the slightest hit of heat that sits blissfully in your tummy 2. Green Chile pork This also had some solid flavor and you can tell they take the time to marinate the meat and grill it up just right so it's tender 3. BBQ Pork I was actually surprised that the pulled pork was as good as it was because who knew Strawberry could be known for some delicious BBQ. The BBQ sauce was good as well and tangy 4. Philly Cheesesteak Flavors were on par with what you would expect for the all lightly cheesesteak and it was an interesting take to eat it with a crispy and flaky empanada crust My only regret was not being a complete big back and getting some dessert empanadas to go and eat later I'll know better for next time

We stopped here during our roadtrip and because of the great reviews. We got there a little after the opened on a Friday morning and they had sooo many empanadas. We decided to go with the picadillo (a little spicy but good), the Mountain baby (Mac and cheese and bacon, had no bacon), the panda (Oreos and cream was delicious!) and the strawberries and cream (very good but on the sweeter side). The service was fast and courteous (you order at register and prepare your order on the spot). Overall great place to visit if you are in the area. Place looks clean and colorful, hard not to miss. They also have a little patio on the side with tables.

A beautiful drive North to Pine for lunch to try PIEbar. Tried the chicken Pot Pie and for desert Apple Dulce. Plenty of parking. Beautiful outside dining with the mountain as a backdrop.Very delicious for a bite to eat. Try two or three....

You must stop here! The empanadas are absolutely amazing! We had the panda, blueberry, green chili, and mountain man and they were hands down, the best empanadas this side of Argentina! I will definitely drive from Flagstaff just to try more flavors! The service was fast and friendly. Plus, it's in a really cool location and has a great vibe.

Outdoor area to the left. More seating to the right as well.

Only the best baked empanadas in all of Arizona. We tried three savory and two sweet and we just cannot decide which is best because they were all amazing. I will give a special shout out to the Mountain Man which is filled with sausage, potatoes, gravy, and cheese - I mean, come on, what genius thought of that?! We were also lucky enough to be here when rhubarb is in season so we were able to enjoy the strawberry rhubarb filled one and OMG it was incredible. It's a tiny spot, but they have plentiful outdoor searing mostly in the shade. You absolutely cannot drive through Strawberry without stopping here. Even if the line is long, the service is fast so just trust me and get in line!

Limited selection compared to bigger bakeries. But here's the thing. What they do have is exactly what you want. No filler, no wasted space, just a tight lineup of pastries that are actually worth buying. We've gone in more than once thinking, "Alright, one pastry each, quick stop." That plan never survives contact with the display case. You start pointing things out, adding one more, then another, and suddenly you're walking out with a full box. My go-to is the Bavarian cream pastry. It's perfect. Not overly sweet, not heavy, just balanced and done right. It's the kind of thing you finish and immediately think about grabbing another. The pricing almost feels like a mistake in your favor. On our last visit, we bought enough pastries for ten people, with extras left over, and it came out to just under $20. Back near our place in Rhode Island, that same box would easily be double. Probably more. Here, it feels like you're getting away with something. And then there's the service. The woman we usually see there is genuinely kind. Not forced, not transactional. Just warm, welcoming, and happy to see people walk in the door. It adds to the whole experience in a way that's hard to fake. This place doesn't try to impress you. It just quietly delivers every time you show up. If you're anywhere near Cottonwood, stop in. You'll go in for one thing and leave with more, and you won't regret it.

The elote appetizer was bursting with a charred corn flavor and coated in a creamy, tangy sauce with just the right amoun of spice. The goat cheese balls were crispy on the outside and warm ant flavorful in the inside, and the freshness of the veggies with each bite was absolutely balancing. For the mains, I had the smoked pork cheek, which was unbelievably tender and savory. My hubby's shrimp and pork belly dish was cooked nicely. It was juicy and well cooked shrimp with tender pork belly that combined nice with the sauce. Both dishes were easily 9/10 or higher. The salsa deserves a shoutout too. It was fresh and chunky, with a nice balance of heat and flavor. We finished with the Mexican chocolate pie, and that was rich and decadent, and not overly sweet. Absolutely to die for. MUST TRY!

(Please look at my photo of the sad leftovers). We had written down all of the suggestions of things to do in Sedona and Elote Cafe was at the top of our list of things to do. Apparently getting a reservation at this place is super difficult to get, so we decided to order takeout. Elote dip, pork cheeks, green tamale, carne asada, pork belly tacos and corn cake for dessert. The elote dip was enjoyable especially when eaten with chips, the green tamale was better off used as a trampoline at a kids party (it was spongy, flavorless and possibly good to scrub your dishes), the carne asada was dead like the cow it came from and flavorless, the pork belly tacos were just okay, and last but least was the corn cake, it was dry and about as exciting as a retirement home party. We wasted our money thinking that a place with a waiting list to get on would be an experience just like everything else we experienced in Sedona but instead Elote Cafe is a bad tourist trap that has as much charm and taste as Del Taco. Save your money and look elsewhere for some great Mexican inspired food even if it means you need to travel to Tucson.

For $16, you get four mixed empanadas of your choice. That's a good deal, I think. But, the empanadas were on the smaller side. The owner was very friendly and informative and let us know these empanadas are made in the Columbian style. She also mentioned she lived in Mexico for many years and learned to make empanadas the Mexican way and combined some of those flavors also. The empanadas I had were all very tasty and I liked the salsa verde that came with the empanadas. I had the traditional (had a kick to it) and arroz con pollo. I gave Sherpa the calentado and chorizo ones, but no report back if they were good lol. My only gripe here is that the empanadas were a little more greasy than I usually like. On their website and in photos, they say their empanadas are air fried, but I think I recall seeing oil fryers outdoors yesterday. I try to keep fried foods to a limit as I don't always feel great after eating a greasy meal. And I have to maintain a svelte physique, just kidding there. Diabetes and heart disease run in my family, so I am very mindful of what I put into my temple. I also ate these after climbing as there is no way I could have had these empanadas in my stomach prior. Also interesting is that the vegetarian and vegan ones were kind of food color green. I guess you need to be able to differentiate them, but the color was off-putting. I'd give this place another try but would prefer baked empanadas. I love empanadas, just please hold the grease.
