It's a cool brewery with a pizza shop inside. (Reviewed the pizza shop separately). Consists of…read moresome counter seating and a few long tables. Only had metal stools, didn't love that. Ordered a flight of 8 beers to try. Each pour is 5 oz. I really enjoyed most of them. Only a couple I wasn't crazy about. Service was good. Separate servers for pizza and beer. Really enjoyed t

The outdoor beer garden is huge with plenty of seating, heaters for those crisp Flagstaff evenings, and sunshades for warmer days. There's indoor seating too, but the outdoor area is definitely the main attraction. It's also dog friendly, which was nice to see. You order both food and drinks at the counter and they bring everything out to you. We arrived right when they opened and there was already a line forming, so the place is clearly popular. The decor fully leans into Flagstaff's International Dark Sky designation with UFO, alien, and astronaut-themed artwork throughout the venue, which gives it a fun atmosphere. The drink selection was impressive with a huge variety of craft beers on tap plus cocktails, cider, and wine. We tried the Rainy Daze hazy IPA and the Vortices hazy double IPA. Both were smooth, flavorful, and not overly bitter or hoppy, and of course very hazy. Food was more hit or miss. The pretzel board was really good and the beer cheese was awesome. The fish and chips, however, were just okay. The fish tasted like the fryer oil probably needed to be changed, and the portions were smaller than expected with only three thin pieces of fish. The fries at least came out crispy and hot. Service was friendly, although interaction is pretty limited since everything is counter service. The all-gender bathrooms were also clean, which is always appreciated. There's a paid parking lot across the street along with metered street parking nearby. Overall, I'd come back for the atmosphere and the massive beer selection, but I'd probably skip the fried foods.

Our waiter, Tyler has an excellent sense of humor and took good care of us. It's u usual for me to have fun with waiters. They're usually rushed, and he was, but still had time to talk a bit. I like that. It's a charming place to eat. We're big city folks and felt like it was an excellent place to eat. If they were in my neighborhood back home, I'd be a regular. We got a Southwest burger and my wife got a Chicken Ceasar salad. Both were excellent.

Three couples (unfortunately) ordered the same item - the Verde Valley Melt. Basically it's described as a sourdough bread turkey sandwich with parmesan fries. The best part of the plate was the fries. The first thing we noticed is that the bread looked and tasted like Wonder Bread. White as white can be. Not sourdough. Secondly, a Melt should come out as toasted with melted cheese. Hot and toasty it was not. The turkey portion was slim. A five year old kid wouldn't have been happy to have this weak sandwich. I hope this experience is a one off for the Belfry. If not, I expect this restaurant to disappear soon. That would be an unfortunate loss to downtown Cottonwood.
